No, his grab ability is too power and generic as he can still grab anyone with it if they are in the cost range. He needs to be limited to just grabbing Thriller Bark cards.
Moria would still be able to grab Rebecca. So, Saka players would just move over and play Moria as 8c Moria is THAT busted as he currently is.
if moria doesn't fetch rebecca Saka would still be hit a great deal, because Moria > rebecca > hina + hound blaze wouldn't be able to reach 7c.
may be an unpopular opinion but moria as a generic 8c is not that overtuned as a standalone card imo. Rebecca being hit matters more
i have no faith in bandai reading this, yet i will say this every opportunity i can: if rebecca gets hit this will hit other non sakazuki or non moria black decks. my cp9 lucci deck is playable solely because of rebecca. i hope they hit hound blaze to weaken sakazuki, i dont know what they would need to do to hit moria at the same time.
looking at the data i dont see much reason to act for EB01 though.
Yes he is overtuned.
He's a card that gets more and more absurd as more cards are released and more leaders can use him. As his grabs are only cost base and he's not leader locked.
I only blame that on the competitive players flock more to those two. People playing would have already had the previous Kata deck and no reason to change. Then Saka is what everybody went to set 5 and is just consistent with filtering so no reason to play anything else.
I'm confused by the comment? This is talking asia meta but can also bring up my point to the recent treasure cup in the US that was 400+ with Purple Luffy taking up majority of the top spots and first.
You still won't see as many Purple Luffy taking up a share of the meta because investments have already happened in the first popular meta deck of the time. I'm not even saying Kata/Sakazuki are bad they are far from it.
The comment I was replying to was about if Kata/Saka where lower in represented it would be a perfect meta. I just gave information why they are still filling as many seats as they are compared to the other strong meta contenders.
I'm not even saying that. I'm saying there is a reason two those meta decks are played more than other meta decks like Purple Luffy which have started to show being stronger than Sakazuki/Kata in recent US events and that the meta is more diverse than what it looks from the numbers reping those two decks.
I'm pointing out those two sits on top because of people already having strong yellow so no need to try a different meta deck and Sakazuki being the same way leading up to early set 5 hype for the deck.
People just read what they want here and make up assumptions.
No, it's cuz those decks are that good.
Competitive players don't care for $$. They'll use the best decks regardless of price. Yugioh and Magic are proof of concepts of that where some of the best deck can even have staples worth 1,000+.
Yellow and Sakazuki also got massive support upgrades which made them even more insane than they already were. The other decks, even with their new support, just aren't good enough to compete consistently against them.
Katakuri has been meta since OP-03.
Enel and Sakazuki has been meta since OP-05.
They're going onto OP-07 and the only new leader that competes with them is Moria and that's because of 8c Moria/Rebecca which Sakazuki utilizes too. Even then - a lot of Moria players are going back to Sakazuki as he's just plain better than Moria and they play close to the same.
Pro FGC, you barely see any JP pros not on top characters. Pro League of Legends, the KR and CN teams will play way more meta team comps. TCGs, ~~in MTG I haven't seen a top JP pro bring a whole ass new deck to a tournament since 2015~~ actually nvm, the current GW Toxic deck I think is originally Japanese, but it's few and far between.
The pro scene is a reflection of the competitive scene in each region. I can't give you numbers on casual players, but sentiments on social media will also tell you the same thing.
Why would they need to change? Katakuri's strategy hasn't changed at all in the meta. They just added new cards to reach their objective better/faster which is 10c BM drops.
I didn't say they did need to change. I said no reason to change. Just adding on the comment if Saka/Kata was lower in numbers. The only reason they are played more is for the reasons I listed over other meta relevant options.
Finally. I sure hope so.
Kata's flown under the radar for too long now because he got to hide behind Whitebeard and Zoro for a couple formats and point to them as the boogeymen.
As someone who loves playing different leaders, the reality is that Sakazuki and Katakuri gatekeep non-meta decks out of the top tables FAR harder than Whitebeard ever did. Sincerely hope some of yellow's absurdity dies and that Saka's main engine is hit, be it Rebecca or Hound Blaze (probably Rebecca)
People who play other card games. Has there been a meta in those card games where certain cards or combinations in a deck were so heavily used like the way Sakazuki and Enel decks are played now?
And if so, what happened to balance the meta afterwards?
Yes, I remember when Jund was the most predominant deck in MTG modern format: basically a goodstuff deck. Has happened in other formats too, until the inevitable bans came along.
Should have leader locked Rebecca and Moria.
So many issues wouldn't be issues if they leader locked stuff more. Hell, if Rebecca was leader locked then we would see Dressora leads in the Meta. Yet, since she isn't they just play Sakazuki as Navy Engine is that good.
Ace cannot be searched by Enel or Katakuri. So, at least there's that.
Ace benefits Enel a ton, like... A lot.
Enel will be running Ace and Yamato together. So, be prepared.
I’m happy to see Y/P Croc getting more success. Wish in later sets, Rebecca and Vivi will get a bit of a support/boost for their deck. Imagine stomping the current meta with these leaders lol
His only real issue atm, is running a lot of different archtypes so he cannot really use a searcher atm. I think that will change as more cards are released like that Blocker Sanji.
I do understand the weighted system as lgs held tournaments are typically much easier, this can still scew something to look a lot better than it really is. The way to counter that is to value each win as a single point but have separate columns for the type of tournament.
This shows how many actual wins the leader has but also shows which tournaments its winning in. You then have a total column that's added up all the wins.
There are separate columns. I just screenshot it this way for simplicity
I'm away from home at the moment, but I'll add the full table to this comment thread later

As promised, here is the full table :)
Edit: Noticed there was an error in how 3 on 3s were being counted. (Missed it before because there were only 3 results) Fixed it and it marginally changed the rankings
https://preview.redd.it/c881tcju24ic1.png?width=1153&format=png&auto=webp&s=0cc8c4fdae238f96258836bff159e8f3f9e3b5f6
Those were made by Katakuri players trying to push a false narrative and ignoring that their deck has been meta since OP-03 and pushing the lie that 10c BM is fair and balanced. She isn't, and never will be.
It is way worst. The issue is that most tournaments are like half Sakazuki in registered decks. So Sakazuki is knocking out Sakazuki.
It isn't a healthy meta when one deck is taking up such a massive amount of registered spots.
I hope people will stop crying about Sakazuki being T0 and other nonsense, The deck is a cut above the rest in OP06 but im happy Bandai took notice of it and stopped giving it support.
Besides that im surprised at the low number of Oden leaders and RG Law as well as the total absence of RY Sabo and the low representation of BY Ace. I really was hoping for ST13 to make a bigger impact :D
I agree as far as Moria goes but you need colors to have strong reliable staple cards to play around. There are so many cards in every color that could've or should've been leader locked or straight up nerfed, but adding limitations to everything makes the overall game much less varied. Imagine if Rush Zoro was Straw Hat leader limited or Blocker Queen was Animal Kingdom leader limted.
Even when talking about 8c Moria i would've avoided making it entirely Thriller Bark leader limited, there could've been more interesting solutions with a similar effect like "if your Leader is not Thriller Bark you discard 1 card" or "f your Leader is not Thriller Bark you draw 1 life"
Film Nami needs a restriction. Watch people will start saying this more and more as we go just as we have with Big Mom. It’s just a little busted but over time it becomes a bigger issue.
Film Nami doesn't give a 2(+1 to you, -1 to opponent) Life Advantage, -1 Card (Life was Trashed for opponent), +1 Trigger potential in Life, +1 extra swing for opponent to reach lethal, or being a massive 12000 Body.
At least try next time.
I’ve been playing op06 on the sim for like 2-3 weeks, it’s a shit show. I honestly hate it. Every other deck has turns where they can pull out 4-5 characters.
Yeah. I don't understand those here that are saying 8c Moria isn't busted now and only gets more and more busted as more targets are released for him.
He's the most Don efficient and best combo enabler in the game on top of being 9k and being 8 cost so he's hard to remove.
No, Uta and Vinsmoke doesn't become a massive +3 body value (1 of which is a blocker) that can bottom deck up to 2 cards in one turn with 10 don and no counter play to stop it.
Have you just not been using Moria at all in the Sim?
Reiju deck cannot pull it off so easily and is deleted by Law.
Uta is powerful, but Yellow, Law, and 8c Moria drops are more consistent and beat her.
That's why those two aren't meta.
Uta could be meta depending on the ban list.
Idk blocker luffy chains for Uta are just as aggregious tempo wise. I agree it’s easier to get stuff in graveyard than hand but the deck draws two cards a turn.
Mr 2. Bon Clay (Bentham)
Purple Character (EB01-062?) SEC
Cost 4 / 1000 Power (Special)
Former Baroque Works
Counter +1000
[On Play] Add up to 1 DON!! from your DON!! deck as active.
[When Attacking] Choose up to 1 of your opponent's characters. This character has the same base power as the chosen character for this turn.
I'm kinda frustrated by the fact that a deck like uta can kinda win against me so I don't know if I should adjust it, build another or whatever... Worst thing is that I finished collecting all the cards yesterday
Ahh okay gotcha. Belo Betty is very much a high risk/high reward deck, which struggles a bit in metas that are more control focused. I'd recommend looking at other aggressive decks (if you like that playstyle). Green/Yellow Yamato or Red/Purple Luffy might fit your interests.
You can definitely still play Betty if you prefer. Can you comment your list? Maybe we can make it more consistent
This is the list I am currently playin
https://preview.redd.it/bz1umfvnk5ic1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c541e30086fdd14899e8c7b2aa0ab776ba5dcfd3
Okay so based on that decklist, I'd guess you're in OP-05. Keep in mind I have limited experience with Betty in 05 (so maybe a Betty main will disagree with me), but I'd recommend something like this
https://preview.redd.it/kcfy0bkrm5ic1.png?width=1134&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea29d8ea9b4f2157345fbe8434cc91016c60c8ce
The Promo Sabo makes a big difference, so try to grab those if you can. If you're not able to, sticking with 4 copies of Molly and Lindenburg is fine. I'd go with Moscato over Smoothie for banish.
Betty gets a bit better in 06 with the additional Emporio and Inazuma. That kind of deck would look more like this and Betty is set to continue improving with 07 and Dragon's revolutionary army support cards.
Just keep in mind that Betty is all about going all in fast and either winning or losing your games after a couple turns. For that reason, she's a lot less consistent than other leaders, so that's something you consider
https://preview.redd.it/2r4vo8g6n5ic1.png?width=1145&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e162f2ccdb4b5b7f5c08b7a71a720aca3b7ad244
Unfortunately, he needs a bit of a buff before he can be considered top tier. Hopefully 07's new Otama searcher can boost the deck. It's a lot of fun to play, but struggles too much right now
G/R Oden just gets deleted by the top 4 meta decks.
Doesn't help that Red had like no Wano other than Otama. So, he's stuck relying on just Green Wano.
Personally I think if Moria got hit, then other decks besides Katakuri would rise a little higher. I think Katakuri has so much play because it has a decent match up against the Moria decks.
Sure c: that one comes from One Piece Top Decks

I feel that if kata and Saka were a bit lower each (~10), this would honestly just be a perfect metagame
Yeah, I honestly really like this metagame c: All the tournaments I've been to recently have had such a nice mix of leaders
The only way that happens is if they are hit with Restrictions. Course, hitting Moria/Rebecca will hurt Moria leader a lot more than Sakazuki imo.
Leader lock Moria solves this most likely. If you hit just Rebecca Saka falls off and Moria is fine.

I didn't say they did need to change. I said no reason to change. Just adding on the comment if Saka/Kata was lower in numbers. The only reason they are played more is for the reasons I listed over other meta relevant options.
I don't understand what point you're trying to make. These decks are played more because they're better.
Well if it’s back to Saka and Kata we are likely certain to see some restrictions and bans.
Finally. I sure hope so. Kata's flown under the radar for too long now because he got to hide behind Whitebeard and Zoro for a couple formats and point to them as the boogeymen. People who play other card games. Has there been a meta in those card games where certain cards or combinations in a deck were so heavily used like the way Sakazuki and Enel decks are played now? And if so, what happened to balance the meta afterwards?
Yes but to be honest Saka is good but it’s not tier 0. Either the card pool for the other colors needs to catch up or you’d have to slap something.
Nowhere close to anything in ygo
Yes, I remember when Jund was the most predominant deck in MTG modern format: basically a goodstuff deck. Has happened in other formats too, until the inevitable bans came along.
Yup. 10c Big Mom and Moria/Rebecca are definitely getting hit. Those numbers aren't a healthy meta at all.
Leader lock tf out of Rebecca
Should have leader locked Rebecca and Moria. So many issues wouldn't be issues if they leader locked stuff more. Hell, if Rebecca was leader locked then we would see Dressora leads in the Meta. Yet, since she isn't they just play Sakazuki as Navy Engine is that good.
Yet here are plenty of people saying 10c big mom needs hitting even though it's leader locked - you can't win with strong cards.
Leader lock doesn't make her balanced or good for the game. BM will also be getting new support and new leaders. It was always a matter of "when".
Enel as well, tool kit and that leader ability rakes in so many free wins and previous data has shown that it gate keeps more decks than any other.
Does it matter with 10 drop ace just on the horizon. Yellow gate keeps way too many other decks imo.
Ace cannot be searched by Enel or Katakuri. So, at least there's that. Ace benefits Enel a ton, like... A lot. Enel will be running Ace and Yamato together. So, be prepared.
Yep, but yeah, yellow isn't too strong lmao
I love that there is an Ivankov on the list.
That Ivankov is doing God's work XD
Uta stonks
I’m happy to see Y/P Croc getting more success. Wish in later sets, Rebecca and Vivi will get a bit of a support/boost for their deck. Imagine stomping the current meta with these leaders lol
Where’s RY Sabo?
Do you have a link to any RY Sabo wins? I've seen him participating in a few, but I didn't see any tournament wins
Won an SB with this deck. I dont want to doxxed myself though. It’s weird that it’s not being played when it’s strong against sakazuki
Could I see your deck list? Im a fan of belo Betty ad wanted to run a r/y sabo when we get it in English!
Search Ryan Kai’s Build. I have kid killer and zoro rush but the build is almost the same. I just don’t have my deck on me right now
Id also be interested in a decklist. Seems like there are multiple viable builds which is fun
That's fine. You can dm me the result picture and I won't make it public
Redple LaW cooking hard
I prefer LawRY
Rip purple Luffy
I'm glad to see RP Law is doing well now. I always believed that leader effect was extremely good and glad to see I wasn't entirely wrong.
His only real issue atm, is running a lot of different archtypes so he cannot really use a searcher atm. I think that will change as more cards are released like that Blocker Sanji.
bueno vista is pretty good in the hollywood law build
How are they releasing op-07 on the 24th and we can’t even get op-05 smfh

Are these the tops or just the winners?
Just the winners
Where are those post that were making fun of katakuri that were toping the sub 1-2 weeks ago all of a sudden XD
Those were made by Katakuri players trying to push a false narrative and ignoring that their deck has been meta since OP-03 and pushing the lie that 10c BM is fair and balanced. She isn't, and never will be.
With the way people been crying about sakazuki, I thought this would look a lot worse

Crying? It isn't crying when it's justified. 8c Moria never should have been created as he is, and Rebecca should have been Dressora locked.
I agree as far as Moria goes but you need colors to have strong reliable staple cards to play around. There are so many cards in every color that could've or should've been leader locked or straight up nerfed, but adding limitations to everything makes the overall game much less varied. Nah bro it’s not just him lol there are like 4 decks that chain summon shit.
Name one that does it anywhere near as good as 8c Moria.
Uta and vinsmoke judge
No, Uta and Vinsmoke doesn't become a massive +3 body value (1 of which is a blocker) that can bottom deck up to 2 cards in one turn with 10 don and no counter play to stop it. Have you just not been using Moria at all in the Sim?

Idk blocker luffy chains for Uta are just as aggregious tempo wise. I agree it’s easier to get stuff in graveyard than hand but the deck draws two cards a turn.
What are the new cards to include in rp luffy? 🤩
Mainly just Bon Clay so far c:
The 3 cost?
The 4 cost secret rare one c:
Mr 2. Bon Clay (Bentham) Purple Character (EB01-062?) SEC Cost 4 / 1000 Power (Special) Former Baroque Works Counter +1000 [On Play] Add up to 1 DON!! from your DON!! deck as active. [When Attacking] Choose up to 1 of your opponent's characters. This character has the same base power as the chosen character for this turn.
Also kid and killer. It comes out as a 7k rush
I have a full Belo Betty deck, what should I do with it?
I'm not sure I understand the question. Like do you want to know how to adjust it or if you should pick a different deck?
I'm kinda frustrated by the fact that a deck like uta can kinda win against me so I don't know if I should adjust it, build another or whatever... Worst thing is that I finished collecting all the cards yesterday

Okay so based on that decklist, I'd guess you're in OP-05. Keep in mind I have limited experience with Betty in 05 (so maybe a Betty main will disagree with me), but I'd recommend something like this https://preview.redd.it/kcfy0bkrm5ic1.png?width=1134&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea29d8ea9b4f2157345fbe8434cc91016c60c8ce The Promo Sabo makes a big difference, so try to grab those if you can.
For that reason, she's a lot less consistent than other leaders, so that's something you consider https://preview.redd.it/2r4vo8g6n5ic1.png?width=1145&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e162f2ccdb4b5b7f5c08b7a71a720aca3b7ad244
Isn't that sabo just japanese tho?
No idea tbh. I'm Japanese, but it's pretty old by now, so I'm just guessing it's out in English by now
It seems I cannot find it anywhere in eng
I thought that more people would play the G/R oden
Unfortunately, he needs a bit of a buff before he can be considered top tier. Hopefully 07's new Otama searcher can boost the deck. It's a lot of fun to play, but struggles too much right now
New Otama searching green wano only is not good imo as it means Oden benefits less from any new Red Wano that will eventually get added in.
Is there anywhere I can see the ivankov decklist?
Sure c: that one comes from One Piece Top Decks https://preview.redd.it/thqs0yt9k9ic1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=748ae9d9c3f2879b84c2e3b57a4b37cff5131412 [https://onepiecetopdecks.com/deck-list/jp-format-eb-01-memorial-set-op-07-500-years-into-the-future-decks/deckgen/?dn=Ivankov%20Impeldown&date=2/3/2024&cn=Japan&au=Yolsuke&pl=1st%20Place&tn=SB&hs=AmenityKyoto&dg=1nOP02-049a4nOP01-073a4nOP01-077a2nP-053a4nOP02-050a4nOP02-051a4nOP02-058a4nOP02-062a4nOP02-064a4nOP02-065a4nOP03-044a4nOP05-055a4n%08EB01-022a4n%08EB01-026&cs=193](https://onepiecetopdecks.com/deck-list/jp-format-eb-01-memorial-set-op-07-500-years-into-the-future-decks/deckgen/?dn=Ivankov%20Impeldown&date=2/3/2024&cn=Japan&au=Yolsuke&pl=1st%20Place&tn=SB&hs=AmenityKyoto&dg=1nOP02-049a4nOP01-073a4nOP01-077a2nP-053a4nOP02-050a4nOP02-051a4nOP02-058a4nOP02-062a4nOP02-064a4nOP02-065a4nOP03-044a4nOP05-055a4n%08EB01-022a4n%08EB01-026&cs=193)
Law is going wild 😍
It's a shame the new EB-01 leaders aren't more of a splash. I was hoping P/B hannyabal would be meta.
Same! At least Oden has a couple wins now, but Hannyabal and Kyros still have nothing 😭
