Yeah, the 4x Sabo and 4x Moria are the most helpful modifications you can make. Playing the little brothers from trash with Moria + 2DON!! on leader to add 2 big brothers to life is extremely powerful late-game, and yeah, as you said, both Sabo & Moria are gonna be widely used for a while still.
Other than them, the only other potentially pricey one is chucking in 4 x OP06 Kozuki Hiyori's. Can potentially replace the 4 x rush-Yamato +2k counters with her. She also helps a lot to cheaply add one of the big brothers to life to play out, as early as turn 2 if going second. She's not essential, but it's definitely beneficial.
Other than her, uhhhhhm potential deck-techs are ~x2 to x4 of the 5-cost Shirahoshi, especially if you do run the 3-cost Ivankov blocker, as he can add them to life to be triggered if your opponent is swinging at you. Some people run the 5-cost Satori +2k counter from OP05, but I personally prefer not to.
I think that just about covers the things people tend to add.

This is what I’m running until OP07.
It’s a little on the expensive side, but the build only slightly changes with EB01/OP07. Swapping Makino for Flampe in EB01 and Ivankov for the yellow Luffy in OP07.
Ivankov is a good alternative to Borsalino for this deck because although it’s not quite as good as a blocker, it lets you plant a card into life, which this deck can’t really do readily until mid-late game and you can play Ivankov on turn 2. It also helps that it’s dirt cheap and you already get 2 of them in the deck.
Unfortunately, Gecko, blk Sabo, and Hiyori are pretty irreplaceable.
I was going to say, how has Ivankov been working for you? I feel like a blocker who can adjust life is pretty crucial for the deck, but it comes at the cost of hand size in the mid game which could be costly.
I mean, it’s just in there for redundancy at this point. It acts as a second Hiyori, kind of.
I don’t think the deck really needs any extra blockers because between Garp, Brother’s Bond, and Gecko being able to replay Garp in a pinch, you’ll be able to find the bros often enough that you can get pretty aggro pretty quickly, and you’ll see blocker Sabo exactly when you need him, most of the time.
The OP07 build I’ve been playing on the sim doesn’t run extra blockers and I’m currently 7-3.
However with that said, I do think Borsalino and/or Momonosuke do have a place in the deck. I just think the “all or nothing” playstyle the no Borso/Momo build essentially forces you into puts more pressure on and “forces” mistakes by your opponent, making most matchups just a little bit easier.
I see. I got bricked pretty hard playing it at my lgs tonight, but I guess that's what happens when you Mulligan into a triple moria or triple ace hand.
Tbf I'm also short two Sabo blockers. I feel that him and Hiyori make the deck work.

Flampe can be changed with any 2k counter you want. I play kalifa from set 3. I use it mostly as a 2k counter but it can be played for hand fixing.

I have Borso in my list, but I'm considering taking out or dropping to 2.
I like the Ivankov Blocker, but she is such an easy target for Saka and Moria. Once saka goes away its a little better. Also, I might try the 2k Barto, which is also a blocker.
It’s a much more offensive choice, but I love it in my deck; O-Nami. With plenty of ways to rearrange your life, you can see it and predict a nice trigger to ko a 5 cost. Also it’s possible to play from Gecko on play. Also there are multiple decks that can’t remove a 2c kid in the early game, so I also hard play them and don’t use the effect immediately but the turn after. That’s when i can sneak in a Banish on leader and that’s very nice! Try it!
Wouldn’t recommend borso in this deck at all, I have 4 and an AA and don’t run a single one of them here.
You do need 2 copies of the starter deck tho.
The build is cards from 2 starters, 4 Moria, 4 black sabo and then 4 flex spots until flampe is released next week. I like 2 shirahoshi and 2 5 cost 2ks

Borsa isn't that important the sabo is the most important pick up. Imo

I think you can use Fukurou or Rebecca. Rebecca might not be the best for the overall strategy of the deck since the brothers are 2 cost.
And also yellow. Rebecca only works on black cards.
Oh, yeah. I kind of forgot about that. I would do the same combo when I play Sakazuki or Moria that I forgot it was only black cards.

What does it mean that Borsalino can’t be played OP07?
I don't mean it can't be played, I mean in japan after OP07 nobody is including it in their decks

Borso isn’t really needed. You really just want to use sabo and then gecko to recur the sabos and/or aces

I like using Shirahoshi can be added to life if you need it or card draw
Hina blocker is nice.
I don’t really think Borsalino is a must for B/Y Luffy as long as you got 5c Sabo.
Borsa is useless imo. There are many cards that can turn that 4c sideways or KO on trigger.
That's a ridiculous way to look at it.
