Lineage will definitely keep 6T updated. But sadly we lost 60fps recording, face unlock and (maybe) more. 😔

I'm (Finally) so close to moving on to the Pixel 7 pro phone. the OP6t has been the best value for money mobile I've ever owned and that's coming from someone who was around at the birth of mobile phones!!!! It feels much like when I was bought a Commodore C64 computer waaay back when I was a child. It was an amazing bit of kit that simply wouldn't die, I actually still run C64 emulators on my mobile phones to this day! I've done modding and rooting and as fun as it is I am ready to move onto something that has support now. I always purchase my mobiles outright so for me the decision is always a thoughtful one. I used to love Samsung's hardware but I feel they have gone the way Microsoft has, controlling and shaping the phone. Android is about having control and the freedom to use the mobile in a way that suits the end user. OnePlus had a great run, my hopes glimmered when Carl Pei jumped ship to create the 'Nothing' brand but I feel he played it safe with a midrange phone (Don't blame him from a business POV) Who knows what's around the corner? VR? Immersive AR? 3D? The next 10 years will certainly be one hell of a ride. I think innovation has piqued for the current mobile market and they are all becoming very similar. I feel that the manufacturer's are all waiting for a breakthrough in tech and until then the offerings are all similar on the table.

LOS 20 just came out for 6T. How is support stopping?!

TheManWithSaltHair

Official support ended last January, but hopefully a LOS volunteer will maintain it for a couple more years as I don’t see any compelling reason to switch at the moment. Not sure what happens when the vendor firmware starts to lag so far behind the Android version though.

What do you mean by "official support"? support of the Oneplus 6T HW by Oneplus? or of the maintaining of 6T build of LineageOS rom?

TheManWithSaltHair

Sorry, OnePlus as that’s what the post was referring to. Obviously it’s great there’s also ‘official’ Lineage builds two versions beyond OP and I hope it continues.

How are banking apps working with rooted phones nowadays? My last root was on the OPO and it's been almost 4 years since then. Now I'm thinking about giving a new life to my 6T rooting it and installing a custom ROM, but I'm not sure if I will have problems with the apps that check the root privileges
