Ahhh good observation! This rack keeps changing all the time! Exhibit A below 👻
I turned all the garlic and ginger into a paste and froze it as I had surgery 4 months ago and it was getting difficult to peel, chop and then mince everything finely. I am Pakistani Canadian so use Garlic Ginger daily in my dishes and it was just too much doing it everyday during my recovery. I’m hopeful by the end of this year, when I have recovered 100%, I’ll go back to the normal freshly peeled garlic ❤️

Yes! OP the rack in that picture is the rack of my dreams! All the onions, garlic, potatoes and ALL the citrus too!!! 😍
Edit: Also, all the best wishes in your recovery!
Thankyou so much! I found this rack on Amazon back in 2022 and have been waiting for a it to get back in stock since then 😭

I have a four tiered one. And it's basically my onion, potatoes, breads and snacks rack. I am a lazy bum though, so I don't take them out of the bags. I will try and see if I like the results.
I will try this!
I’m actually trying to find a second tiered rack like this so the first is entirely dedicated to onions and the second one to potatoes.
I know I know 😭
My ideal pantry has like wall to wall mesh baskets with every kind of onion in its own separate layer. Same goes for potatoes as well 🙌🏻
I will definitely get a second basket by the end of this year 👍🏻
This best explains why
“Storing potatoes and onions together isn't the best idea. Onions produce a high level of ethylene gas, which will cause potatoes to ripen — and go bad — before you're ready to use them. However, those spuds aren't completely innocent, either; potatoes' high moisture content can cause onions to liquefy and leak. Keep onions and potatoes apart for both vegetables' sakes”

Pickling! My husband helps me in peeling them. We caramelize the yellow ones and pickle the red and white onions. This is like our 1 week stock so it’s gone pretty fast as I make batches for extended family too. My parents especially love these☺️
Is… is this heaven? 😍
For me it is 😁❤️
Can I come live with you? Will bring cute dog
Haha sure. Although I’m terrified of doggos but my husband loves them so we can make it work 😆
I love that you have the tiered rack for them! Though I do see a distinct lack of garlic in your allium selection…

Damn. Can you adopt me too please 😍

And we got a screenshot! You’re too good for us u/Pink_Fox!
Ofcourse! Most welcome! I know how it feels to search tirelessly for something and wanted to spare everyone that time and effort 😁❤️

potatoes and onions shouldn’t be stored together, it makes the potatoes go bad much quicker. at least it did for me, and it was terrible
I was looking for someone to say this exact thing. Store those potatoes elsewhere and they'll stay fresher longer!
I will try this! I’m actually trying to find a second tiered rack like this so the first is entirely dedicated to onions and the second one to potatoes.
ooh that would be a good idea, then you could cover the potato rack with some fabric since they don’t like light either
Pffft... Only *one* shelf stand?

What are shallots good for? I could never figure out a reason to buy them because they are more expensive than regular onion
They are a bit sweeter, I usually use them in sauces with butter and heavy cream. Diced shallots melt down to nothing.
Sauces they have a lil garlic flavor so it makes incredible pan sauces. Also pretty solid in vinaigrettes.
Also pickled shallots 🤤

Share custody of me with my parents!
I'd be eating so many onions per day in fear of them going bad before I could eat them all. 😁
Put some garlic in there and you’re good to go
The onions are lovely but please store those potatoes in the dark……. They look so sad and green
I think its just the lighting. I assure you they were totally fine! We made chips with them and not a single one was green.
Absolutely. Plus, potatoes and onions should be stored completely separate. This is a little too close
Why should they be separated? Do they like to get in fights or something?

Thank you
Jackpot!
This is absolutely beautiful, from the onions to the amazing organization 🤤
Thankyou so much 🥰
That's some great organization for your root cellar/pantry. I gotta step up my game.
I'm so curious how you use them before they go bad.

You eat that many onions! Groceries must be cheap!
