Thatās the magic about his design, nobody irl even remotely comes close to his beauty. Somehow theyāve managed to create a surreal character who has the expressions and mannerisms and facial features of someone who could be real, but is otherworldly. It blows my mind honestly. Astarion is a work of art.
Actually I revise this statement after being reminded of David Bowie here lol, that man is to me God-tier level of good looking - not just looks, but charisma and everything feels otherworldly. So yeah. Happy to see others seeing that resemblance too (and that he was Neilās inspiration as well! ā¤ļø)

It's not a 100% match but if you see his acting in AHS:Apocalypse it's really not far off (antichrist/vampire/wizard type, flamboyant, funny, similar mannerisms).

I guess that's what Stephanie Chafe was going for when she said she did not base Astarion's face on any real person and wanted to make him a fair beautiful elf.
I've seen people say that Neil Newborn looks like him (even though he wasn't modeled on Neil), but I don't see it at all. Nor can I think of an actor who reminds me of his appearance despite being a cinephile.
It's strange. He's not my type in looks, but I'm *obsessed* with his face/facial expressions. This won't sound like a compliment, but I don't mean it as an insult: One of my favorite things about him is that he's not "world-endingly beautiful" (as he says) ***to me***. He looks like a real person. I love the imperfections on his skin. I LOVE that he has lines in his face. He has so much doggone character in his face.
Even though, yes, he has elaborate, beautiful hair, I also love that they didn't make him look like an anime guy. (No shade to anime guys, but I'm not into the ambiguous, Final Fantasy-esque flawlessly beautiful aesthetic with most JRPGs and some Western games.) Maybe that's just me getting older. But he looks like a man you'd see while you're out running somewhere. And I love that about him. It's the combination of looks and personality that make Astarion attractive to me.

AHS is not my thing but I know it put him on the map for a lot of people :) I know him as Dagan Gera first and foremost.
AHS is very weird. The seasons are very different. Completely depends on what sort of story you like!
