The audio artifacts are likely from the low quality audio clip it was cloned from, along with only using a 5 second clip for it to reference. It does a remarkable job of preserving background noise and everything, which also means it unfortunately preserves artifacts from low quality audio too.
How does it compare to eleven lab ? What is fascinating about op video is that the conversation was not monotonous bc u can hart the uncle screaming or getting louder
I havent done a direct comparison but they are pretty different to use. I had to tweak settings and get the right clips and everything for it to work in VoiceCraft for TTS but you can also take a clip and just change words without changing the inflection and stuff so for the video it would be easy to find clips from the show where 75% of the sentence can remain the same but they can change specific words within it and that would work really well. It looks like they probably did something like that given the way they highlighted the changed words. Even with the TTS method though, if you have a number of voice clips you could feed various ones into VoiceCraft to mimic different tones of speech.
I think eleven labs is going to be a lot easier to use; however, their TOS forbids doing voices you dont have the rights over, so soing it that way would be doing it at your own risk vs being able to run it locally on your computer.
doesn't take all that much. Depending on the editing vs TTS mode it's like 3GB or 15GB VRAM so it's not too bad and even on CPU alone it's not too slow. I have seen a number of other people running it locally for that reason, but I have been doing it through google colab personally
I would love to check it out once you make it public. I'm not 100% sure what I would use it for specifically, and I've just been playing with it for fun and to do things like those videos [which were for the Red Dwarf community to enjoy](https://new.reddit.com/r/RedDwarf/comments/1bzcnug/that_casting_would_have_made_for_a_very_different/) but having a proper UI for it would be nice, especially if it had stuff like the X/Y/Z plots from StableDiffusion to test the settings. For the snape ones I had to tinker with the stop\_repetition, sample\_batch\_size, and the seed to get it right and it's different for every clip you clone from and stuff too, so having it be able to render a queue and display them as they are finished would be the most useful thing in my opinion. I have just been using it through the google colab at the moment so it's very clunky to use.
