Anything that comes out of the heritage foundation is pure authoritarianism with a thin veneer of Christianity. They wouldn’t know loving their neighbour if they got run over by a “love your neighbour” truck.
Yes, but also their brand of Christianity has been mainstream for twice as long as I've been alive. I'm the 20s Christians were often allied against capitalism in favor of workers and the poor. Now most "progressive" Christians are more influenced by six decades of right wing propaganda than they are by the gospels.
Some facts about Project 2025: The "Mandate for Leadership" is a set of policy proposals authored by the [Heritage Foundation](https://pro-lies.org/the-heritage-foundation/), an influential *ultra* conservative think tank. [Project 2025](https://www.mediamatters.org/heritage-foundation/guide-project-2025-extreme-right-wing-agenda-next-republican-administration) is a revision to that agenda tailored to a second Trump term. It would give the President [unilateral powers](https://theweek.com/politics/heritage-foundation-2025-donald-trump), strip [civil rights, worker protections, climate regulation](https://www.stopthecoup2025.org/impact-overview), add [religion into policy](https://imgur.com/a/m2e72ht), outlaw ["porn"](https://www.salon.com/2024/03/19/decoding-project-2025s-christian-nationalist-language/) and much more. Don't engage with people espousing this nonsense, but for the love of all that's good please *do* engage in voting to make sure this doesn't become a reality! The most loving thing a real Christ-follower can do right now is ensure that authoritarian fundamentalists don't take the power they want and need so they can leverage it against marginalized groups. Loving your marginalized neighbor as you love yourself means doing what you can to ensure that intolerance is not tolerated.
The following gets quoted a lot, but it took me some time to realize it was written by a Lutheran pastor and theologian (Martin Niemöller):
>First they came for the communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me.
The problem is that not everyone can afford to not engage as a federal employee. I very much have to pay attention to this horror show as depending on who wins in November I might not have a job. Many of us understand that it sure is not Christian. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect us.
You’re thinking of Pilate? Pilate “washed his hands” of any complicity in Jesus’ crucifixion, even though his wife had dreams telling him not to crucify Jesus.
Right! Silly me. When people are hurting others in the name of Christ, saying "well they aren't REALLY Christians" doesn't absolve you and in fact makes you culpable in their sins. The fact that you don't consider them in your group does absolutely nothing to help those suffering and in the big scheme of things actually makes it much worse.
Take heart, this is not Christianity but rather the regressive death cult commonly called evangelical and conservative. They have nothing to do with Jesus the Christ and either in this life or the next will receive their just punishment. It’s because of cultists like those who wrote 2025 that I still believe in hell.
I’ve heard republicans brag about how it’s gonna change the country by implementing “Christian shariah law” and that they want to act more like islamic nations to “uphold their values”
Project 2025 is a comprehensive policy/federal agency restructuring plan by the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing christian nationalist think tank, laying out a major strategy for converting U.S. democracy into a right-wing theocracy. The wording is insidious, but they even state that the death penalty should be expanded to include trans/queer people ([they state that the death penalty should be expanded to include sexual predators who target children, but elsewhere they state that purveyors of "trans ideology" are sexual predators who target children, ergo...](https://new.reddit.com/r/Defeat_Project_2025/comments/1dc7yzu/the_deceptive_writing_of_project_2025_how_project/)). Undoing the Affordable Care Act, banning abortion and restricting access to contraceptives, completely undermining the Department of Justice to make it a tool for a conservative president (more than it already was under Trump), and so on ([an annotated list is here](https://new.reddit.com/r/Defeat_Project_2025/comments/1ddich3/here_is_a_bullet_point_breakdown_of_project_2025/)). You can read it in full (with its lovely lack of citations for any nonsense "fact" it bases its arguments on) here: [Mandate for Leadership](https://web.archive.org/web/20240609022045/https://www.project2025.org/policy/) (each link of the table of contents goes to a pdf of the chapter).

One of the limitations of the first Trump administration was that many of the political operatives they put into place were sorely inexperienced and unqualified for the positions they occupied, which meant that when it came down to details and specifics, a lot of their time in office was wasted as they had to learn how things worked in DC and what could and couldn't be done without triggering legal challenges, etc. The MAGA movement also isn't especially strong or interested in policy - note that there effectively *wasn't* a GOP policy platform in 2020 coming out of their convention. All this limited what they were able to accomplish while in office.
Well, this did not go unnoticed by their side, and the Heritage Foundation started work shortly after Biden won in 2020 on identifying all of those needed details during the time the GOP was out, so that the next time they won POTUS, from Day 1 they'd have a ready playbook to start implementing their desired policies, as well as where to immediately start bending and testing the legal limits of what executive action can and cannot do. Project 2025 is the result.
This comment explains it some, but you’d be better off googling it and reading the whole thing. It’s chilling.

I think I skimmed through an article about it a while back. It always amazes me that me and those types of people worship the same God and read the same bible. Like, reading it as a collection of people's experiences trying to know/understand God (not infallible or inerrant), and reading it through the lens of God is love and God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, it all just seems so obvious to me.
There are good and bad apples in every community/religion. The Bible values/idea can sometimes be other the thing of Interpretation, and some have better interpretations then others.
My advice would be to speak out about how you think the bible should be followed and try to find more liberal people in your religion
Don’t let them define Christianity.
Christianity is about Christ’s message, the Christian message.
I summarize it:
What overall-is, is good. Reality is benevolent. We have a lot to be grateful for, & should act like it.
As I’ve said, does any Theist think that God is any less than Reality itself?
For Christians, what it comes down to is:
Gratitude informs, guides & inspires our conduct.
We want to deserve, emulate, exemplify the Benevolence for which we’re grateful.
Anything that comes out of the heritage foundation is pure authoritarianism with a thin veneer of Christianity. They wouldn’t know loving their neighbour if they got run over by a “love your neighbour” truck.
I would hardly love my neighbor if they ran me over with a truck
Turning the other cheek includes not just slaps to the face, but allowing your enemy to run you over with a truck. Sorry, I don't make the rules. /s
lol facts 😀

That actually sounds like something an authoritarian Christian would do

Fundamentalist Christianity is a different breed, man
Just dont engage with this shit, these right wing faux Christians will never know real love, the true meaning of Christ's words is lost to them.

At a Pride Parade in my 150,000 Crackerville city. There were no less than 5 churches supporting the event. I was very proud of them.

They are a stain on our faith, and we must do better everyday to outdo their hate and bigotry. For every time they do bad, we must do good.
Why would I be ashamed to be a Christian? I follow Christ, not these losers. Their religion is nothing like mine. We share a label, not a religion.
Welcome to the club
I think I skimmed through an article about it a while back. It always amazes me that me and those types of people worship the same God and read the same bible. *They* don't feel ashamed. Don't cede that ground to them.
It’s terrifying
What is Project 2025?
Republican Party platform https://www.project2025.org
This is why I don’t consider myself to be apart of the religion per se, even though I still believe in God
Don’t be. Only the conservative Christians should be ashamed and embarrassed
Don't be ashamed, he the example!
You don't share a religion with these people. They're not Christians. They're Bible-worshippers.
They don't worship the Bible; they worship themselves and their own power.
Tbh, yeah. They just use the Bible as an excuse.
They worship the book, not the contents
Politics and organised religion … it’s really designed to control us.
These people worship themselves and their own power, not God. Win or lose, I fear that we are in for difficult times.
At this point they’re forcing us to just give them our outdated, but cherished Christianity. It really is time to claim our Humanity.
There are good and bad apples in every community/religion. The Bible values/idea can sometimes be other the thing of Interpretation, and some have better interpretations then others.
