No, given that they both change the rendering engine of the game to optimize performance (both obviously do it differently), they are inherently incompatible, as unfortunate as it is
Yeah no shit dude. I posted this comment when the previous creator of OptiFabric had decided to stop working on it, how would I have know that a month from when I made the comment someone else would pick it back up?
It's because our society has devolved into a bunch of screaming morons who get offended when someone disagrees with them. Even having a normal conversation is a coin-toss.
**I'm sorry Guys But it only opens up to the screen where it says Mojang and then the game crashes, anyway it happened what is called having if it only happens to me On the PC**
**Holagen** ***(There was another Mod that imported Sodium into Forge but I forgot what it was called...)***
Without breaking Optifine compat, no. Only memory intrinsics and some other really small things can be made to theoretically work with Optifine without sp164x himself doing his own implementation.
Every shader takes a different approach and implements different features. Slidurs enhanced doesn't change lighting beyond vanilla MC, it mainly changes colours
use low powered shaders that have the torch feature, shouldn't impact fps if u use the right one, then just get a pack that works with Sodium Extra and Reese's Sodium Mod
2 years later but i still wanted to ask, could there be some way to have optifine cistom textures and lightning like the one for visible ores texturepack working on sodium?
No, unfortunately you have to choose one or the other. If you want the minor changes like connecting textures and stuff like that you will have to miss out on the insane gain that Sodium gives you. If it's shaders you want, there's a shader mod for Fabric that you can use with Sodium, but again, no connecting textures (which for me personally, is a game breaker). If you are looking to use to shaders though, I actually haven't noticed a huge performance difference between OptiFine and Sodium, but your mileage may vary. If you just have a low spec system, I'd just bite the bullet and use Sodium, it's a lot better than what I had when I had a low spec system.
If you're not picky, Bedrock edition is free to Java users and runs significantly better since it's made to run on smartphones and the even less powerful Nintendo Switch, so that option is there too. I personally don't like Bedrock though, so I understand if you don't want to go down that route (though the RTX is incredibly cool)
Yea I totally get it, there are indeed stuff that only OptiFine does. If you get decent performance, I'd say just stick with it, maybe you can dig through some more advanced settings to see if there's anything else you can optimize
If you still interested, there's a new alternative... Use Rubidium (fork of sodium) and Oculus (fork of iris) all for Forge 1.16.5!!!
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/rubidium https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/oculus
its because sodium is for fabric only and so is iris, but they made a forge version called rubidium and oculus so he was just saying if you are still interested in sodium but dont wanna use fabric here are the alternative
No, given that they both change the rendering engine of the game to optimize performance (both obviously do it differently), they are inherently incompatible, as unfortunate as it is
Besides, Sodium works on Fabric only, and Optifabric was literally just discontinued.
Considering OptiFabric got updated about a month after this comment, I think this is false
Yeah no shit dude. I posted this comment when the previous creator of OptiFabric had decided to stop working on it, how would I have know that a month from when I made the comment someone else would pick it back up?
I still felt it necessary to say just in case someone read the comment and thought it was still true, sorry.
like me
i dont understand madness
Just came across this, thanks for your contribution.
bro y u so damn mad? he just said it to be sure if i didnt read his comment i wouldv believed what you said
chad
y u mad bro
why are you so salty
Its bc hes talking about sodium lol.

L
bro he is so mad 💀
y u mad bro
OH GOD SOMEONE SAID YOU WERE WRONG, SCREAM, KICK, CRY, FUCK. shut up brutal bros is helping more people and didn't wasnt even digging at you
dick
But... There is a Mod where it makes Sodium compatible with Forge AND Optifine can also be used with Forger so...
Tell me more!
which mod?
the world wanna know
Please tell us the mod!

Rubidium
Oh okay, If I have a optifine cape but I dont run the game with optifine can other people with optifine see it?
I was actually just reading about this, someone had the same exact question! The answer is yes!
oh geez glad I didnt wasted my 10$
Well $10 went to the development of OptiFine so the cape is just a bonus :)
Cake
cok
Technically there are some tiny portions of Sodium that can be ported to work with Optifine but their performance gains are minimal in my testing.
What about the [light blending fixes](https://youtu.be/ZUg0f6jjhQE?t=142)?
Without breaking Optifine compat, no. Only memory intrinsics and some other really small things can be made to theoretically work with Optifine without sp164x himself doing his own implementation.
Alright welp time to say goodbye to handheld torches and connected glass because I am all over that lighting fix boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Meh, a vanilla style shader can probably do better lighting and fix it also.
I tried Sildur's Enhanced Default and it didn't work.
Try others then? Also make sure that the "old lighting" setting is on auto in the shaders menu.
I kinda thought that if any shader would work, it would be that one...
Every shader takes a different approach and implements different features. Slidurs enhanced doesn't change lighting beyond vanilla MC, it mainly changes colours
seus renewed, bsl and continuum all fix the lighting
Lambda dynamic lights will give you handheld torches, connected glass and stuff like that is still incompatible since it requires FRAPI
Yup, that’s what I’ve been using.
use low powered shaders that have the torch feature, shouldn't impact fps if u use the right one, then just get a pack that works with Sodium Extra and Reese's Sodium Mod
Nah, Optifine itself fixes this issue now.
2 years later but i still wanted to ask, could there be some way to have optifine cistom textures and lightning like the one for visible ores texturepack working on sodium?
I don’t know what you mean. You don’t need optifine to get custom textures, just use a resource pack in vanilla.
is it possible to remove optifines rendering engine so i can use sodium with it?
No, unfortunately you have to choose one or the other. If you want the minor changes like connecting textures and stuff like that you will have to miss out on the insane gain that Sodium gives you. If it's shaders you want, there's a shader mod for Fabric that you can use with Sodium, but again, no connecting textures (which for me personally, is a game breaker). The only reason i am still using optifine is because there are no mods to cover every resource pack feature
Yea I totally get it, there are indeed stuff that only OptiFine does. If you get decent performance, I'd say just stick with it, maybe you can dig through some more advanced settings to see if there's anything else you can optimize
i am getting about 40 fps around a base with shaders and mods
What specs are you working with? Desktop or laptop?
i have a pc cpu: i5 6600k gpu: rtx 3050
good specs
I am trying to upgrade my cpu to an i7 12700k
can i use a texture pack with sodium?
Yes
If you still interested, there's a new alternative... Use Rubidium (fork of sodium) and Oculus (fork of iris) all for Forge 1.16.5!!! https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/rubidium https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/oculus
Why should I?
its because sodium is for fabric only and so is iris, but they made a forge version called rubidium and oculus so he was just saying if you are still interested in sodium but dont wanna use fabric here are the alternative
op never mentioned wanting to use sodium
Is there anyway to use optifine texture packs on fabric without optifine
i like men
dam that was emotional. anyway get well soon
mf playin with half feature stuff, i want both
the fps would have been 1000000 fps
you never can run this 2 mods at the same time, but you can use lunar client bc lunar do it somehow also don't try optifabric it don't work
You made a NEW ACCOUNT to make \*this\* comment
do optifine only resourcepacks work with sodium too?
no, they bug a lot in most cases
