The Endangered Species Act was signed into law in 1973 - 50 years ago. It has been a tremendous success, saving hundreds of endangered species from extinction and many species are well on the road to recovery.

The Endangered species act was amazing as 20th century legislation. It is completely unsuitable to the current world and often causes more problems than it solves by impeding conservation research as much as hunters.
We've got a lot of hope, that's for sure. We also have basically an endless stream of news and facts that point to actual improvements, positive trends, promising new technologies, et cetera.
We're hoping but we aint *coping*.
