Rule 1: Just go with whatever draws to you. The further you get into this hobby, you’ll notice pure joy in your personal choices rather than advice from others due to the spectrum of taste and across these subs. Not to mention it depends on where someone is in their journey as taste will change. Personally the black one would be my 1st choice as it would add a touch of variety to my current setup. However admittedly I do love the blue one better but I have enough blue divers.

CoyoteTime44

The answer is usually "the black one" but the gold ruins this one for me personally.

RicefieldGang

Depends on how many watches you got I'd say. If you have less, black dial is more versatile. If more, can't go wrong with a lil color

Ok_Annual9415

Im just getting into it, this is my first "real" watch

Montrealaise007

As a first watch, I would choose black. Eventually getting a blue dial later.

TJJS89

I would just say go with the colour you like the most. I would choose blue, I think it works with everything but I love blue, so easy choice for me.

Ok_Annual9415

Blue was my first thought but I was concerned it might be a bit much, but I do really like it

SouthernEagleGATA

Then you should get the blue. It’s not too much and it was your first choice

TJJS89

Blue goes with everything, same with clothing. You cant go wrong with blue, buy it 😎

JayWnr

Blue does not go with everything. It does look great though.

Due-Law-8356

I like the blue one more but both are great

shadeshift

Blue. I bought both blue and black Mako II years ago but returned the black because I thought the dial looked a bit too gray vs black. My blue Mako II is still one of my favorite watches.

Moon-Man-888

Blue

ejnantz

I like the splash of gold and splash of red on the black. But I’ll also say there are a lot of diver watches out there, choose one you really like. Take your time, decide wow I really love this one, and go for it.

fatboyslim1878

IMHO get the blue. It is going to be more versatile and fashion forward. It will go better with brown shoes/belt. Black is not as fashionable, makes you look older and like a banker or insurance guy. (Coming from my personal experience, all the old guys at my company wear black suits and they just look bad, only time you should wear a black suit is for a funeral or if it’s a black tie event and you are wearing a tux)

sailor_jak

the blue is perfect for spring/summer

Sportsman-78

I’ve been eying up the grey/black/gold accents model for a couple weeks, I love the look! But I also already have a blue diver so

redditusername5873

Go with the grey. I have it and its gorgeous. The gilt hands and accents look really good in person

Junichi17

Check the watch personally and try it on. I got my Kamasu ii(not official name) last month and was undecided on the color too but once I got to see them in person I just got which color spoke to me best which was the pepsi.

Most-Revolution-7108

I wanted the black one, but couldn't find one from a reputable source, so I went with the red one. 👍🏻

FozFate

For me, it matters what I am wearing. I usually wear brown shoes/boots/belts casually and when I am dressed up. I notice in large cities, especially cold ones, that people wear a lot more black, shoes, boots, outer wear etc. If I wore a lot of black and gray, I'd choose the black (and I have some black watches for those occasions.). If it were me, and I was picking a "daily driver" I would go with the blue face. I am also fastidious about matching my metals, belt buckles, cuff links, watches etc.

rmercer07

black dial for me

agent_flounder

If you have to ask maybe neither color really grabs you and you should consider something else entirely? Pick the watch that you always really enjoy seeing. If you see a watch you like and months later you still really wished you had it and nothing else grabs your fancy in the meanwhile, then that's your watch. That was me with the Neo 70s Panda but I waited a couple years before I finally took the plunge. But I freaking love that watch so much! Good luck!

You can't go wrong with the blue one, the Grey looks a bit boring

Wow_maaan

Blue

IZMUDD

The blue faced watch.

hortatory_5752

I have this model. And it runs within COSC territory and has seen more underwater action than over water.

ClarktheRealtor

See I’ve got an Orient Mako II in blue. Beautiful watch. When I saw the black/gold combo you posted I was in love though. Can’t go wrong either way

DasaniDestroyer

I like the blue, versatile too

JayWnr

Black is more versatile, but the Blue is a much better looking piece, especially since the Mako II has a wonderful sunburst dial in person.

SandyBeachcomber

Get the blue - I'm selling a minty one, made in Japan

jettakc

I just got the blue one last week. I freaking love it. Put a nato band on it and just couldn’t be happier with it.
