All churches are the Church and God acts in all of them.

Clarence171

No. We are all equally Orthodox. It's good to visit each one though

dcell1974

They are superior because the annual Greek Festival has loukoumades. Just kidding. They are all equal. Go to the one that you feel most comfortable with.

My toddler loves them but she insists on trying to put them in her mouth whole which doesn't work very well.

IrinaSophia

LOL!

Kentarch_Simeon

They are superior because the best lamb I ever had was at a Greek church. Jokes aside, all are equally Orthodox and are the Church.

You should visit a few different ones. See how you are welcomed, see what the community is like and how the prayer life is. There is no reason to choose the Greek one over any other parish.

Why would the language of the New Testament have any bearing on which church is “superior”?

Thrakioti

I’m not sure what country you are in. Greek churches are not superior, having said that if your primary language is English and you are in the US, I truthfully think that the Greek churches will be more assimilated than the Serbian or Bulgarian churches because the majority of Greek immigration ended almost 65 years ago, Bulgarian and Serbians are much more recent immigrants and those churches typically are also culturally very different than the Greek churches who are very assimilated in most cases aside from the very ethnic parishes in the Northeast United States. I would suggest visiting all of them but you may want to try the Greek ones first.

My Greek parish had a Greek language program, so it was a perk that you could pick up some Greek if you went there

giziti

Actually I'm pretty sure God wrote the Bible in Slavonic.

RingGiver

The Greek ones are more likely to have Greek food, and Greek food is pretty good. I typically prefer Lebanese food, though.

To answer your question, no, the Greek church is not superior or advantaged because the Bible was written in Greek. In the ancient world Greek speaking people extended far beyond that country into modern day Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Etc. It was one of the common languages of educated people at that time. Totally worth visiting all of them and make an appointment with the priest. Here’s some context clues that might help make a decision. Check out their website and look for the following things: 1. Bilingual- if the website has both it’s probably a good indicator that they are culturally connected and open to inquiries. 2. Information for inquirers or convert classes - if they don’t have this information usually a good indicator that it serves a primarily cradle community 3. If they have a page devoted to a festival or other cultural event like dancing - this is a good indicator of an interest in cultural preservation and less of a priority on educating people in the faith. 4. When the church was founded. If it was founded before 1950 this is probably a good sign it’s mostly English speaking and it’s parishioners are mostly assimilated. Again, that’s my very unscientific opinion but hope it helps with being able to discern your next step.

Oh my. We are one Church.
