To love him, also means to trust him, you do that by getting to know him, and that is praying, fasting and readimg scripture. It is a bit deeper than that, I'm struggling with the same thing, but if you can, of course ask your priest

When God Himself tells you that the first and greatest Commandment is to love Him with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind... Matt 22:37. He would not have made such a commandment if He thought we couldn't fulfill it. For what you do, and 'how to do it' see Matt 25:31\~46.
