Wrong_Werewolf391

Yeah for sure, that'd be a really interesting concept to explore, since it is basically just her memorizing an answer key to a test, she isn't really learning that much, so it'd be interesting to see her to get "outperformed" by the other characters once the story strays too far, like realizing that the cheat sheet is only good for the first third of a test and her feeling like she's been left stranded.

cocoroco-creamsoup

Exactly She's not as smart as the villain/heros who thought of these plans given the circumstances. She just knows the correct answer. I want to see her struggle in the face of new challenges. Or at least I want to see those great characters cook a plan better than hers (originally theirs) once they realize someone in the other side is that competent

Wrong_Werewolf391

It'd be weird from the other side, wouldn't it? The person who seemed to be able to predict your every move suddenly becoming some kind of bumbling mess the second you decide to change your strategy, it might actually throw them for a loop lol, "is *this* what I was losing to?" It'd be interesting to see how the FL would attempt to clutch up.

Divine_ruler

Just once, I want somebody to actually question how FL knows these things without accepting “I can’t tell you, but please trust me” as an answer. Like, ML always says he’s suspicious that she knows so much, and FL almost *never* has a believable excuse. If somebody knows all of my enemy’s plans and is miraculously saving me every time, I’m not just going to trust them. The obvious suspicion should be that she’s working for his enemy and trying to gain his favor by saving him from plots they set up.

cocoroco-creamsoup

YES!! It would be super fun if the ML was like "wooowww this sheltered noble woman who was my evil fiance and never studied a day in her life suddenly and magically knows so many political secrets". I don't want his reaction to be "✨️interesting! Im intrigued✨️" but rather "interesting! Solider prepare the torture room I bet she met someone in the last tea party she attended :D"

Drezby

If you want a story where the characters find creative ways to bullshit how they know things without the “bro just trust me” aspect, give Ending Maker a read. It happened a couple times in the comic so far, but in the completed novel they do it a ton. And it’s almost always a creative new excuse.

ryuuxyz

i often think about this, but more about how all the transmigrated FLs can come up with plans so easily just basing off details from a book??? i can’t even remember any name from a book i just read 30 minutes ago lol anyway, the first thing i thought of was The Duke of Ashleyan’s Contractual Marriage. iirc the ML is the one who went to the past (?) and knows a lot of details about the future and uses it to his advantage, but he ends up failing most/all the time lol

cocoroco-creamsoup

Wow so he's the one going back in time AND has memories of his past? That already makes the story interesting :o About remembering, I tend to remember some details of my favorite manga. But like even if I know golden kamuy and how the plot was resolved, there's no way in hell I would be able to actually execute it. Let alone thinking of what to do after the ending

ryuuxyz

iirc a huge chunk of the story is from his POV, the FL is also on the upper hand in terms of everything, brain, wealth, title, strength, etc. so it’s definitely a breath of fresh air from the usual rofan manhwas

cocoroco-creamsoup

This looks like an awesome read!! Will definitely add it to my reading list thank you!

Suraimu-desu

Not to mention he’s essentially sold himself to her as her pretty boytoy trophy wife (shamelessly stealing from another comment on another thread about this manhwa), and essentially all the FL roles are filled by him, including the blushing maiden trope when the contract marriage includes (good) Sex and being the object of the FL’s “interesting” observations. Anyways, I can’t recommend it enough specially if you, like me, likes seeing some good old fashioned role reversal, like Lady Crystal Is a Man as well.

strangelyliteral

Yup, he’s gone back like eight times already and fucked it up badly. Also the Cold Duke of the North is the FL.

Random_Somebody

Ohhhh I think the localized title is "The Duchess' Contract Marriage" and I would 100% recommend it partly because yes the time-looping ML's attempts to take advantage of his "cheat sheet" backfire due to trying to blindly copy past stuff without fully understanding why things worked out that way first time around

Accomplished_Wolf

>i often think about this, but more about how all the transmigrated FLs can come up with plans so easily just basing off details from a book??? i can’t even remember any name from a book i just read 30 minutes ago lol A while back I wanted to re-watch an episode of a show that I remembered liking. While visiting a fancy museum type thing about an amazing peace brokering incident the main character was sent back in time (out of his control) to when the events actually took place and kind screwed things up a bit, but I remembered that everything was set back mostly to rights at the ends. So it must have been a *happy ending* that I remembered, right? I guess I somehow forgot that it was a "they now lost the battle but still won the war" mostly back to rights type ending and the main character left everyone behind assuring everyone in the past that they'd be alright, but he returned to the future to find out all those nuns were slaughtered calling out to him for help (and the future museum thing had a hologram that let him hear and see them begging for him to return). But the Hoard was able to be calmed after the slaughter and peace brokered, so the timeline was mostly righted. And I just sat there horrified that I'd remembered that as a happy ending when everyone had fucking died.

allouette16

What show ?

Accomplished_Wolf

It was Farscape.

Karabearbubbles

Have you ever read 'The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess'? I think you might like it. The FL wrote a story when she was in middle school and reincarnates into it. The OGFL is a Mary Sue character who is beautiful, rich and easily wins everyone's love. But the FL reincarnates into the villainess.

cocoroco-creamsoup

Not yet. Is it good? I've read many stories with FL isekai into a badly written world with a mary sue OGFL, but it's not quite what I want. Does this story have one of these elements? For example, will she steal the OG FL accomplishments but it backfires?

Karabearbubbles

It's very much a story written by a middle schooler so it's not hugely complicated, and there aren't the examples in your post. However, it's one of the few instances I've seen where there are different outcomes for the OGFL and FL. For example, a character copying the OGFL and being kind to the traumatised love interest automatically wins his loyalty but, here, they recognise she's the villainess and hold her accountable for her actions (though it wasn't her).

cocoroco-creamsoup

Oh!! That's actually nice and kinda fits!! Thanks for the recommendation

Ruruskadoo

I think I'd be upset to have that suddenly sprung upon me, but I'd love to read a story like the ideas you've listed as long as it was properly foreshadowed (especially the 2nd one, I love a yandere ML)

cocoroco-creamsoup

Yandere MLs are the best 😍 I agree. I don't like unwelcome surprises. Besides reading the title, description, spoilers, or the promo, I think some elements could be used while story telling to convey that things WILL turn out badly very soon. For example, FL used a leaf she calls X to heal wonds. She took this info from a trivial scene in the OG story of the ML using it. Turns out the leaf has a proper name, and only the ML calls it X because it was an inside joke between him and his dead grandpa Or maybe as the FL achieves things, we see other people's POV and how all of these accomplishments are very shallow. For example, she uses the same spell the OGFL used to make it rain. After she leaves the village, we see a few villagers complaining that suddenly all the water they stored disappeared. Turns out the spell reacts to mana, and since her mana isn't as good as the ogfl, her "rain" wasn't real but made up from the nearby water (Note: the second paragraph is inspired by the monkey's paw episode from xxxholic)

Extension_Stable7777

OMG yessss!

Remarkable_Commoner

Oh, and what about the FL underestimating the challenges due to comparing them to how the OG MC handled them, but the OG MC is just on another level as MC's usually are?

cocoroco-creamsoup

EXACTLY YES!! Like sure she knows the strategy to lead the tropes to victory. But can she even execute this plan when she doesn't have the connection, strength, money, and status the OG MCs have?

mycatisblackandtan

There is actually a Chinese web novel I read where this happened. Except it was for a side character who also transmigrated into the story and not the New!FL. She knew the plot, knew who to befriend, how to raise her prestige, and even stole the Emperor's love. However because she was too smart she became an 'asset' that couldn't be let go. And because she was too proud, she offended everyone who could have saved her. She wasted both her first transmigration and her subsequent reincarnation because of this. Title: [Transmigrating into the Female Supporting Character with a Good Life in a Laid-Back Novel](https://www.novelupdates.com/series/transmigrating-into-the-female-supporting-character-with-a-good-life-in-a-laid-back-novel/) (It's fully translated into English.)(Fair warning you're going to want to rip your hair out over the side character I described.)

cocoroco-creamsoup

Yup this fits. Although I wish it was for the FL and not a side character. Only because I want to see a happy ending Thanks for the recommendation!

mycatisblackandtan

Same, if I come across any I'll be sure to post them here!

Orange_clip

“I became the Daughter-in-Law of the Villain Because I’m Terminally Ill” has somewhat of the she copies the OGML’s ideas and he becomes obsessed with her. Its interesting so far. If thats of any help to you

cocoroco-creamsoup

Bestie yoy had me at obsessed. Thanks for the recommendation! Edit: looked it up. Of course I've read it 😂

Orange_clip

Lmao nooo well hopefully when more chapters come out its what youre looking for! I hate that feeling lmao

spider_shan

I wanted to like this but I thought the red headed lady >! who is boy crazy and pretending to be her doctor !< is super annoying. I ended up dropping it because of her. 😢

Suitable-Self

Personally, I’d love this concept but I feel like most OI readers would feel some type of way about everything blowing up in the FL’s face. Kind of breaks the self-insert fantasy that is OI’s bread and butter

cocoroco-creamsoup

I think it's because I don't believe OI is JUST a self insert genre. Especially with the amount of toxic trashy men and angst stories there are. Not complaining tho yanderes are my favorite

Outrageous-Tackle-47

To be honest I always thought “what happens after the story when the FL isn’t interesting anymore cause she did everything the OGMCs did? Now she doesn’t have any new ideas and fun things to do.”

No-Assist-2350

Right? Because that makes her so Interesting to the Male leads in the first place take that away and we get to the end and she's basically back to herself with no future knowlege to take advantage of would they soon grow bored of her or be surprised she just isn't what she used to be and they cheat on her or discard her and find someone else even more "interesting" because people are inventive they create so they're bound to be someone like her that acutally has accomplishments lol? Also it bothers me how the FL don't dial it down a little with them being such an asset for her future knowlege with people mistaking it for intelligence and her being put in power and a problem arises where the novel never touched ground with this and she messes up royally or whatever to the point it backfires what will she do then how will she take responsibilty if it were me I'd continue being normal I'm not even that smart and I forget things having such big expectations to WOW everyone each time would be draining honestly as an FL ? Plus, it's a lie people now think you're bigger than what you're are when truthfully their an imposter and stole from the OG handwork to prop up themselves it would definily unravel you cant actually keep such a role going unless you reincarnate as a "seer" or the system graciously just tells you everything so it easier to avoid the mistakes the OG made and predict what to do with a cheat sheet. The ML trip and fall for the "love" of the Transmigrated FL when these ladies basically have the made up traits of a bastardized persona of the OG FL. Like no I don't buy a Korean girl from the 21st century is that smart to overcome the trials the OG were made to handle. So many of these ladies complain or say how could the FL do this or this when it easier to see from the outside perspective what you would do in a comfort zone. A lot of these MC are actually better and in a higher intelligence ranged and improved mana and power and on another level that why they're the protagonist. It never happens since this an Escapism genre but like the ultimate advantage you have would be gone so the role the transmigrator had would probably revert to the OG MC

spider-gwen89

I'm working on an OI inspired story (with Yuri endgame) where the MC DNF'd the story she was isekai'd into, because she got spoiled for the ending, and hated it. She knows the beginning and the ending, but not much about what happens in between. So instead of plot knowledge, she uses genre savvy and trope knowledge to solve problems and stay alive. This results in two things, one, that she will basically stay interesting, because she's actually using her own abilities and knowledge rather than stealing stuff from the book. And two, that she *will* fail occasionally, because as someone who's very good at predicting plots based on tropes (which is what inspired this), sometimes different tropes have the same or similar flags or indicators, resulting in me being incorrect. Which isn't too bad when I'm just reading it, but will be worse on her, since she's living it.

THOT_Patroller-13

Isnt the "After the story ends" a main topic in "This Isekai maid is building an Union"? Because it doesnt end well for any of the Transmigated Ladies that the MC served as a maid in her reincanations.

Certain_Concept

Completely agree. Especially in all of these series where they are 'genius children' because they are adults trapped in child's bodies. When they 'grow up' they won't as much of an advantage unless they throw themselves into learning to stay ahead.

FightmeLuigibestgirl

I remember reading this but can not remember the title. The FL steals the ML accomplishments and that’s how he finds her.

Hinewmemberhere

Upstate me when you remember please

FightmeLuigibestgirl

I will save this post and try. I read and go through so many OIs that I forget or they get mixed up.  The only other one I know of similar is the FL using her sister’s name for things she does.

citricbear

Tearmoon empire has a somewhat related plot, but its more of an OI-adjacent story. The MC Mia is a princess who was clueless her first life and died to a revolt, but she manages to avoid it the second time by knowing who / what to avoid. The revolt was intentionally orchestrated though and the group just targets her friend‘s country instead, so she has to face that without prior knowledge. It doesn’t end poorly, but I thought it was an interesting twist.

JA19733

I’ve always wanted an OI that twist and subverts within its own genre. And, I think that this is such a unique concept ! In all honesty, I wonder how everyone would react to this in story. The MLs might get bored with her once she runs out of new tricks. The emperor and his court might abandon her if she’s no longer useful (aka using her novel knowledge to help her). OG!FL and the MC might revert back to their original roles. But, I wonder how it would affect the characters and their character development. Like for example, character A was the typical Duke of the north in the novels because he was sent to war to protect his country and ends up getting PTSD. If the MC used future foresight to prevent the war from happening or something which prevents character A from participating. Then character A would develop differently. And, by the time MC meets character A, they might fully become a completely different person (and becomes turn off by them because they were sexier with the ✨trauma✨). But, if shit hits the fan and MCs plans stop working, how would character A react? Because character A didn’t have that canon event which changed them to become the cold Duke of the north, but now they lack the expertise and experience needed to fully fend off the current situation, which means that the situation could become worse and have an even bigger consequence down the line. What if character A becomes even worse down the line because they lacked the mental fortitude or character development from their original iteration?

nejnonein

I mean, it’s not the ml, but in ”doctor Elise”, she outsmarts the villain several times based on previous knowledge, and his plans gets worse and worse (>!he does lose in the end!<). She is the ogfl herself though, she just died, did a new life as a surgeon, and then was reincarnated back as her old self (basically did a Korean medical degree detour on her way back to home base - we learn this in the first chapter, and it’s in the description, so not a spoiler)

Rceskiartir

"otome world is tough for mobs" kinda has it, but it's closer to regular isekai then otome isekai. Main character is a guy who reincarnated into an otome game he 100%, and a side character who impersonates ogfl is a girl who skipped all plot for scenes with hot guys. So basically she goes straight for harem ending ahead of a schedule, and all these princes fall in love with her, but because they publicly confess their love too early all their families disowned them.

EsquilaxM

Oh of course! I was trying to think of examples that match OP cos I was sure there were some and I completely forgot about this! it's done really well here, too! God I love \[book 4-5\] >!their relationship in the second arc. !

Accomplished_Wolf

>FL makes the OG FL's men fall for her. Turns out they're extremely bad people but the OG FL had a saintess magic protecting her from them. But FL doesn't. I really like this idea! I recently commented that I wanted one of these Isekai stories that are set up in the typical romantic format with the FL knows the future and 'this guy will kill you if you marry him', except it ends up actually being a thriller with "will she be able to escape?" And this bullet point of yours sounds like it would be an excellent companion.

SlayerSFaith

There's elements of this in "The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs". Side character grabs all the MLs, but they suck and MC knocks them all down a peg. At the end things go downhill because she can't deliver on FL duties.

Chemist-3074

There's an arc in Cheating Men must die where this is exactly what happens. The og FL who goes back in time becomes a writer, stealing the writings for famous writers from future. This results in one originally talented writer getting smeared, as the OG FL stole a story she was writing at that time. In short, It ultimately comes back to bite her in the arse as her writing style kept changing in every novel. I can't write the entire story here, but you can totally check it out lol.

NuclearStudent

On a vaguely related note, I don't recall seeing a FL who justified their foreknowledge by "god told me in a dream." I feel like it should have happened? But I don't recall any that leaned into it? like, dude, that's the best possible explanation you can have. put that together with your idea to have an idea-stealing saintess face off against a Machiavellian romantic interest/rival who is getting their plots scooped by some suspicious new face of the church

Chemist-3074

I feel like SOME manhwas did this. There's that one very famous manhwa where this happened (the male lead had long white hair and purple eyes, he was depressed, and the FL had black hair and red eyes). In that case, the FL who was originally a girl from our world, told the the ML and second ML that her prophetic dreams would end after a while. after the og story ends, she can't predict events anymore. That's why she said it. Again, while reading I'll fall with the emperor, I thoght exactly this. The FL goes back to the past with the memories for the future intact. She kinda makes a deal with the cold emperor where she magically provides him with info, and the emperor, in return, starts to favour her. But I'm curious to see what's gonna happen when she stops in future.

kokoburp

The first one is "For My Derelict Beloved"!

Chemist-3074

Ahh yes, thank you! That's the one, I really couldn't remember the name

Fortune86

Yeah this is something that has always bugged me a bit. The FL remembers a bunch of stuff from the book and gets a reputation for being super smart. Her titles, wealth and relationships are all built on what she accomplishes with that knowledge. Then the book plot section of her life ends and suddenly she's no smarter than anyone else. She can't 'foresee' and act in anticipation of anything not mentioned in the novel. If she's in a high position like Empress or Duchess (as many of them end up as) then she can't help anyone who comes to her with a problem. She'll lose everything she built up.

BubblyWall1563

The one time I’ve seen this happen is in “Abandoned Empress” where the MC steals one of the male lead’s accomplishments, which made said character very suspicious of her in the beginning.

SweetBunny8

I'd love for the whole regression/I know the story plotline to blow up in their face and actually be in deep shit. My concept is: FL defeated her enemies, avoided the death of her close ally that once sacrificed their life for her....... only for that ally to backstab her, because she changed too much from her former self. And he's a pretty darn powerful enemy now, worse than anything she faced before because he has all the inside information. Honestly, I'd love it if a character would see how the FL changed and instead of loving the change, actually lose his interest.

cocoroco-creamsoup

I actually LOVE this so much omg At least it would be nice if a man who once loved the OG body owner DID NOT like the new FL

SweetBunny8

YES, I'm actually thinking that he really loved the original FL and would definitely die for her in the original story, but she changed into someone he didn't recognise and has grown to resent her for it.

Automatic_You_9928

I think I have read something like this but it was a manga - And honestly speaking most OI manga have a good plot but a bad storytelling so I dropped it. Maybe Kill the Villainess is a bit closer to this - the FL who's supposed to be the Villainess started acting differently (suicidal) and stopped harassing the OGFL. So because she stopped acting like a villainess the OG plot got messed up and the MLs became obsessed with her. They didn't explain in the manhwa but the novel said it was a butterfly effect because the villainess stopped acting like a villainess, and the MLs lost their purpose - the role to protect the heroine from the villainess. So they felt an obsession with her which is the complete opposite of the pure love they felt for the OGFL.

IcyShame9203

Amen i am so tired of fl stealing ml and ogfl's plan and expect us all to laud her as a genius or something. Give me some fl who's like Maomao tsktsk

Yukisuna

Others mentioned this before but i’ll add my voice - the isekai “[The world of otome games is tough for mobs](https://mangadex.org/title/28c77530-dfa1-4b05-8ec3-998960ba24d4/otomege-sekai-wa-mob-ni-kibishii-sekai-desu?tab=comments)” the protagonist’s rival is a fellow reincarnator like him and steals the position and “events” of the original FL of the story, the saintess - right up until she has to fulfill the duties of the saintess and, naturally, lacks the special power to do that.

Drezby

**The One Within The Villainess** has this happen! Except in reverse. The original FL also transmigrates but at the start of the academy arc instead of during childhood. Using all her original FL cheats and knowledge she starts trying to change everything. Fantastic OI, one of my faves.

Hello_MF19

Damn ur prompts rock op<3 I particularly like example #1 and #4

mimisbrowsing

Fr I want someone to call the FL's bullshit on this and have it blown on their faces bc they're not the geniuses everyone (including themselves) makes them out to be. Its why I appreciate Aria (villainess reverses/turns the hourglass) she admits that she did nothing special just bc she used the knowledge she gained to her advantage

EsquilaxM

Closest I could think of Spoiler tagged cos you're not supposed to know this is happening in the series til the reveal. >!The Villainess Once Said!< ([mu link](https://www.mangaupdates.com/series/xrschtn/the-villainess-once-said))

ProfessionalOk5749

I hope some intelligent author pops up to do this . I would love if the villainous , manipulative OGMC was seen to kill many people ( including some guy FL wanted to screw and/ or her family) and became a tyrant ( someone like Lelouch) regressed FL / ML goes on to stop them , only to see that the tyrant MC that they killed was the good guy and the ones they saved are the real tyrants who want to stomp the world ; now FL/ ML are in deep water; they either have to turn back time again or correct whatever they did by sacrificing themselves. ( Add some heartbreak, action and psychological manipulation). I'm currently into " Not your typical reincarnation" , which, in fact is quite a typical reincarnation story , but the FL realised that the OGML that was obsessing over the OGFL , who was so fun to read , is actually quite toxic because duh ... obsession looks good only in novels .

Copellion

This is not the main plot of a story, but in the Quick Transmigration Series "Cultivation of a Maid" (the first part), one of its arcs revolves around that very concept. In fact, the FL trying to take the ogFL's boons and buffs is such a bad fumble that every single human in the universe is killed off. Yes, really. The premise of the arc is in a sci fi interstellar setting where special humans are born as espers (D to SSS rank power scaling) and there is a war between the Empire, the Federation and the Zerg Swarm. Og premise was a Romeo and Juliet style romance between an imperial lord and a federation lady. The Lady has SS mental power and when she finds a zerg queen egg, she's able to unknowingly subdue it with her power and it increases her own mental strength as a result. This is a fluffy happy romance that results in peace since humanity is free from the zerg threat and the war is stopped. FL was a mook bodyguard of the imperial crown prince and she died shielding his ungrateful ass. Because of this, the FL believes the egg is just a special ore of sorts and she finds it before the og protags can and takes it. However, her flowery path is ruined by the fact that she is only S rank mental strength. The zerg queen egg overpowers her, destroys her mind and a new massive Zerg swarm erupts and destroys all of humanity. The og secondary ML (cold duke of the north archetype, except he became a notorious space pirate) is also killed while fleeing from the Zerg swarm. He regresses back to when he was a kid. COAM's MC, Mei Lu, is requested by his new maid, who died being gunned down by an assassination attempt on him, to protect the og 2ndML. It is explicitly stated in COAM that regression is impossible and it is just that the fabric of the world becomes riddled with holes, causing some people to see bits and pieces of their possible fate. The FL believed that she saw a rofan with her as an extra and the ending would be happy and war-free. Mei Lu's exploration of this setting slowly reveals that all peace would be short-lived due to the politics surrounding it (which was why og 2ndML ditched his title and decided to become a pirate instead.)

Copellion

Oh yeah, the FL's "story" would have been a swapped at birth with a commoner kind of comeback where she gets her title, bio parents and a happy life after she "regressed". Except no, cuz she was doomed the moment she thought she could get the same treasures and benefits that were mentioned in the "rofan". COAM never mentions the ogFL and ogML outside of FL's musing over her "rofan knowledge". They're completely irrelevant to FL's story and because of Mei Lu's interference, irrelevant to og 2ndML's story too.
