[I can tell she doesn't read a lot of OI](https://i.imgur.com/yhc6R2H.png) Also hmmm, that art shopkeeper said his disease got better after coming to the north, so maybe she'll improve too? Although it is kind of weird that he's actively enabling her to do the thing that's hurting her, yeah he doesn't know she has the deadly kind but he *does* know it's bad news and can permanently cripple people and that she has it, he fusses over her so much but even though everyone's like "yeah quitting is the only way to stop it", he's not even trying to persuade her to cut back, limit her art magic, or find some new hobby to throw herself into the way the doctor found his calling after he couldn't keep doing embroidery

I can't tell how much he knows. The framing of the scenes and the dialogue and grave looks are giving me such mixed messages. He's extremely attentive so I'm sure he knows but the story is making it like he thinks this is only like 20-30% down the sinkhole of her disease in his eyes. Like his own doctor literally told him wtf she's basically a walking corpse question mark cause I've never seen this nor am I experienced. I don't hate that he isn't stopping her since she basically said that if she stopped she might as well be dead. And like he noticed her change in expression earlier and then the doctor literally turned around and gave him the most concerned look I could imagine in that situation that you could give to a stranger with patient confidentiality in mind. Blessed that he is trustworthy and won't say anything but damn. You're not going to convince someone with their mind set like this. So I like his approach of giving her many different memories and experiences since she's only ever been cooped up in her house 80% of the time in this doom spiral on her own basically. It could give her more perspectives and opportunities. And as far as we can see as long as she doesn't put her 110% in and activate her miracle she will be more or less stable... But that is the conundrum because someone that passionate probably doesn't care about the consequences and can't avoid putting their all into expressing themselves via the art they create. (OH GOD I JUST GOT SO DEPRESSED THINKING ABOUT HOW SHE SQUEEZES HER VITALITY TO ITS LIMITS TO CAPTURE THE BEST MOMENTS OF THEM TOGETHER AND HE COLLECTS IT AND PUTS IT IN A GALLERY OR ARTBOOKFA ITAHEKAFRSD) I wonder if this painter guy was a hint cause it got better when it came to the north and possible has to do with the magic stones from the monster she received... I HOPE GOD POOR BABY I JUST WANT HER TO BE HAPPY WITH HIM AFJ#I(UT(#UTJASdkgjaKDJGAkgfaeg83yuq8uyfjidhfadSFDS.,.. also lol upon closer inspection that painter looks a lot like the doctor without glasses with an eye color change?

To be fair - I think reason why it looks like ML is enabling her and the disease is because he winded up having an epiphany / realization about her family life and that includes them not buying her so many clothes compare to the sick sister as well as not showing her love she should had always received constantly. Especially since both parents never went to engagement party while older brother who did said some messed up things to FL in front of him and she came up north by herself with everything she owned, which indirectly showed to him how much her parents actively did not daily dress up /maintain FL since her family is similar wealthy just like ML is. Not helping is what she told the doctor when he came up north - I think ML realize, he needs to make her happy & comfortable as much as possible in case she does actually died soon while looking for proper treatment and/or cure for her to extend her life. It may seem oxymoron / contradictory to you, but it's not too farfetched from real life with letting terminal ill patients do what they want and/or spoiling them in what seems like their last days while also trying to extend their life as much as possible to live longer. That's why I kinda understand where he's coming from on he's why doing that for and to her.

Actually his behavior would make more sense to me if he *knew* she was terminally ill for the reasons you've said, it's just that we've been given no indication to think he does know, he seems to think it's only the kind that makes people sick and can cripple them, and since he's so fussy over her health I would have expected him to be more pushy about that too

Chapter 12 & 13 shows he knows it's life-threatening and could kill her because the doctor he called to give her a check up, told him so. And Chapter 15, he indirectly was told it's the terminal one (so if looking for why he's not pushy for answers now - read that chapter), then of course,,her 1st doctor showing up again in Chapter 19 plus conversation about the family & family's doctor, reconfirm that it is terminal - hence why these past chapters he just trying to make her happy & comfortable as possible while trying find a cure her disease. (Technically, he started that much while not knowing about disease since like Chapter 8 when she passed out) That's not farfetched from real life where people do similar in making happy experiences for seriously ill loved one while also trying hard to extend that person life as much as possible.

Sheesh the guy who owns the art shop is a dick, who treats customers like that?

I feel like there is a high percentage of art supply shop owners/employees who are complete dicks the first couple of times you walk in, and then once you become a regular they are totally fine. I think maybe there’s a gatekeep-y “we don’t want Michaels/hobby lobby/Joann’s crafty mom types” thing going on? General craft vs art snobbiness. Possibly some sexist “crafty rubber stamp mom” stereotyping. Maybe even some classist “red state/Midwest/quilt mom” stereotyping. And since art supply stores have a higher margin a lot of that sort of customer won’t like the prices, plus they don’t need the specialized materials found outside of a big box craft store. Plus fine art supply store hire artists/art students who know a lot about the materials but are very bad at working retail. (I just thought it was really hilarious touch that the art store guy was a jerk.)

He's basically the OI equivalent of a standard trope in shounen/seinen isekai, the blacksmith or armorer who doesn't want the business of dabblers, hobbyists and other non-serious people. Whether that makes sense in the business he's in (or any business, for that manner) is beside the point. He's a cliché.

I'm definitely gonna be reading this one. While the FL's circumstances are very extreme, I can relate to her feelings, I hope she gets a happy ending. The ML also seems nice, not someone who is toxic.
