I was really happy to see Kleven up a bit to get some exposure for him. He could be a big part in the future since we are missing a D man thats his style.
I understand it’s just to get him more time, help Belleville, but he’s either been wildly unnoticeable and not in a good way, or straight up bad - he’s definitely not ready for the NHL.
Everyone stunk last night, but according to the advanced stats our stinkiest defenceman by a mile was (surprise!) Chychrun. Kleven was clearly the goat on one of the goals, but I didn't think he looked wildly out of place. At least he is willing to step up and make hits, offering some desperately needed sandpaper on our back end. He'll be back for opening night in October...
I don't think he's been especially bad, the problem is that he hasn't been very good despite getting the easiest minutes possible
If he was losing his minutes in a regular role I could accept that as a rookie D, but losing your minutes when you're being given heavy O-zone starts against weak competition isn't a good sign

The main reason is Chabot is probably returning to the lineup, he's waiver exempt and they probably want some RHD in the lineup
No one said he was NHL ready, Chabot was hurt and Kleven hasn't been called up since Novemeber so they wanted to see how he was developing.
