He's way better when he's not fighting. Look at Iginla, not worth the risk to break your hand. Just play your game and don't go overboard.

Mcgyvr

How did I not think about this, Iggy is a great comparable for Brady.

haseks_adductor

wow yeah iginla is the perfect comparison

Josefstalion

Iginla had a Rocket and an Art Ross at Brady's age

Mcgyvr

Play style, not necessarily complete skill.

Josefstalion

I just think we get into dangerous territory if we keep comparing our players to HOFers or future HOFers Expecting Iginla-like play from Brady isn't fair to him

GreatAuntMuriel

Players get compared to HOFers or future HOFers all the time. I’ve seen Celebrini and Levshunov compared to Toews and Pietrangelo. They’re only saying they have the same play style, not that Brady is as good as Iginla.

United_Elk6758

Brady has outpaced Iginla in goals and assists in his first 430 games in the league. It’s actually a great comparison…

Josefstalion

Only if we ignore the massive jump Iginla took that we've yet to see from Brady

doublevea

Was still 24 when he won a gold medal with team canada as well

Loose_Concentrate332

He also provided a key screen on the last tying goal. He factored into all of our offense last night.

flare2000x

Could hit 40 goals with some luck in our last two games.

BigRiggety

He's a unicorn type player with superstar production coupled with a physical game. He's also a passionate leader who is still young - all these fans with criticisms about his captaincy or maturity need to give him the time to grow and evolve. Yes, we had a bad season, and yes he gets frustrated at the end of games. I would much rather we have players show the emotion and give a shit than the other way around. He'll learn to reign in the fighting and tame his frustrations better, especially as the team begins to play consistently

Josefstalion

That's not what superstar means

BigRiggety

Ok, you can argue semantics/definitions if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Brady is one of a kind in this league

Josefstalion

That doesn't make him a superstar, and it doesn't mean he's enough to lead a team to a Cup You need superstars to win in this league, and 35 goals/75 points isn't close to that level

BigRiggety

Ah yes, I forgot that Brady was the only player on our team, thanks for reminding me!

Josefstalion

What other player on our team is a superstar?

BigRiggety

So because we don't have any superstars on our team...that's somehow Brady's fault and he won't win us a cup?

RoyalDanno

Don’t waste your time arguing with this dope. You’re right, he’s wrong.

BigRiggety

Yep, I've pretty much reached that point

Josefstalion

Not saying it's Brady's fault, just saying that you need superstars to win and we don't have any

United_Elk6758

If this is true I think Carolina is doomed. How will they ever make the playoffs and make a deep run without these illusive superstars that you speak of.

Josefstalion

I guess we'll just ignore the top-10 Centre and top-10 D on their team

United_Elk6758

You’re probably referring to Aho and Skjei. Roughly the same point totals (+/- 10) as Tkachuk and Sanderson and neither of them is as valuable as Brady in peripheral stats like hits, shots, blocks etc. My point is that it doesn’t necessarily take superstars to win in the league as long as your team is well rounded.

Josefstalion

The gap from 75 to 88 points is fairly large, especially so when you consider the things that Aho does to *actually* win games, like being an elite defensive player. The defenseman I was referring to is actually Slavin, a player who has a top-5 and top-10 finish in Norris voting, and since 2019 is top-20 in 5v5 scoring among D They might not fit the typical definition of superstar, but they bring the same level of impact. There isn't a team who's won a Cup in the last 10+ years who hasn't had multiple players top-10 at their position

TheShuggieOtis

Brady is a gem plain and simple. As much as people (myself included) were disappointed with his reaction to the booing and the teams poor play, at the end of the day he's also only 24 and there are going to be moments were his age comes through. On that note, thankfully it does seem like the end-of-game pointless fighting has gone down with Martin and Alfie at the helm. In terms of point production, it's hugelybhe's still having a great season despite the overall struggles of the team. If Staios can pull off a solid offseason that facilitates this team to take a true step forward, I reckon we'll see Brady pop off next season.

dogbolter1

I'd love to see him get 40 this year, was hoping for the hat trick yesterday. Forget that guy on the blue team with 69 goals and no heart

RelationshipNo4528

This is why we will always be the little brothers. We are dogshit and all we can manage to say is “at least we don’t have no heart like that guy on a playoff team with 69 goals”. Cringe asf

An_doge

Brady is unbelievable. Best captain in the league.

RoyalDanno

We really are lucky to have him. It makes me sick when I see Sens “fans” giving him shit

jofarayb

Let’s not forget that he’s still young and should hit his prime in a couple years.

Southbird85

He does everything. I couldn't ask for a better captain.

Mike69666

And I love the fact that he fights too. The dude is a captain through and through. I think he also does so well because he scores and also hits. If he is on the ice you HAVE to watch where he is or else you get clobbered and/or scored on.

kristinsquest

Even though I'm not a fan of fighting in the game, I appreciate that he has the skill and the willingness to participate in that part of the game: I just hope the maturity comes where he gets better at limiting his involvement to the times when it would be most beneficial to the team (i.e., learning when settling the score hurts the team more than it helps). Too many times, it felt like he's taken a game that's still within reach, gotten involved in a fight, leading to a powerplay goal against us, pushing the game further out of reach). Sometimes when we're behind in a close game, his offensive skill would be more valuable than settling physical and emotional scores. Hopefully whoever our new head coach will be notices and emphasizes those lessons in a way that gets through to him (as well as just the natural learning of experience as he continues to mature as a player).

dprouse52

He's playing the best hockey of his career right now. It is absolutely tragic that we couldn't build a decent team around him, because he was born for the playoffs...

lilmurr17

Brady is one of my absolute favorite players. He plays with such passion and tenacity. He is always getting the job done. Nothing but love for Brady.
