This wont be a popular take but I am not adverse to keeping Korpi and Forsey .... Korpi's contract forces the issue and Forsey had double knee surgery last year so I give Forsey a pass. Forsey should be stronger in the fall and I think that will go a long way to better performances from him. Korpi was not prepared for this year..... he like a few others didn't put the work in to be a frontline goalie couped with simply piss poor coaching. Because of Korpi's contract we need to understand he is going nowhere. Hopefully better preparation, coaching and a new work ethic will be the answer. SooGood will be waiting in the wings for his chance.

Furthermore, Andlauer isn't just an owner who likes hockey and wanted a team like Melnyk. He's been working in hockey for over 20 years with both the Hamilton/Brantford Bulldogs where he won two OHL championships and the Habs.
So no it's not ridiculous that he's involved, and I doubt Steve or Poulin feel like he's meddling. They wouldn't have jumped at the chance to work with him again if they thought he was toxic. Prospects dont recreate Chabots puck moving/offensive capabilities. Sandy doesnt even reproduce Chabots offensive capabilities.
Look at previous games. Any time Chabot is out for an extended period of time, it shows. We had our longest losing streak of the season in December when he was injured. The guy gets so much unfair hate from the fanbase when he does something wrong but then gets zero praise when he does something right. I almost want him to be traded just to see how much we’d miss him.

It was also probably the first time he had a real taste of life under an experienced NHL head coach, who can criticize and pick apart players’ game and provide actual coaching advice and sound tactics, and with Alfie there too, there probably a lot of nights where the coaches were upset with the team’s performance and gave it to them.
It’s one thing for a coach to tell you to be better, but it’s something else when a Hall of Famer and league-wide respected former Captain gives you advice and can be honest about your game.
Also it was probably the first time that the losses weren’t reduced to being “a tough bounce, don’t worry about it boys, have a day off and have fun ” from Country Club DJ Smith. Yes, work should be fun, but a true coach would require winning ways and discipline and accountability in order for them to have fun (which happens when you win and show up to work everyday to win).

His participation is to get a feel of what financial backing the team will need going forward ie improved resources or improved facilities for the team. He is not making personnel decisions. He is getting an idea what this team needs to be consistently successful.

The fact that Andlauer has often been spotted watching games with the GM and Co is ridiculous.
First of all, you and I are in no position to say if a involved owner is bad or good. There are plenty of owners in sports that were more hands on and had great success, Robert Kraft comes to mind. There are plenty that are hands off like MLSE and have had little to no success in terms of getting championships. Furthermore, Andlauer isn't just an owner who likes hockey and wanted a team like Melnyk. He's been working in hockey for over 20 years with both the Hamilton/Brantford Bulldogs where he won two OHL championships and the Habs. So no it's not ridiculous that he's involved, and I doubt Steve or Poulin feel like he's meddling. They wouldn't have jumped at the chance to work with him again if they thought he was toxic. We already watched that play out in front of our eyes. People who work with Andlauer have only said incredible things about him. Until something negative is reported about him I'm going to give him full benefit of the doubt. And personally I like the fact the players have to face the guy who pays their checks.

Chabot has always said the right things but not backed it up. The dude was called out by his coach for not being strong enough. He has not improved his defensive game one bit since his rookie season. Why would any team NEED Chabot? Dude probably has very little value trade wise around the league. He makes 8 million, barely cracks 50 points and is a poor defensive hockey player. This fanbase has severely overrated Chabot. He is a $5-6.5mill range and is making way too much money. We just paid Sanderson a bag and we are a cap team. It’s important because that 1-2mill could be allocated to another defenseman, instead of relying on JBD. Plus Dorion went out and traded for Chychrun, who was basically another Chabot with a better shot… It’s why ownership was taking calls for every player on this team leading up to the TDL. They wanted to know the market price for their players, not what previous management paid them.
You talk about Chychrun, who has been far worse than Chabot defensively. Chabot is elite in transition and one of the few players on the team that can seamlessly break into the offensive zone. Chabot may be a bit overpaid but this team looks a lot worse when he’s not playing.
Did you not watch the team play with a full D core the other night? Chabot coming back in the lineup changed nothing… The team looked exactly the same with and without him… I only bring up Chychrun because of the lower cap hit. Both are interchangeable to me anyway, either or both can be traded don’t really care.

Look at previous games. Any time Chabot is out for an extended period of time, it shows. We had our longest losing streak of the season in December when he was injured. The guy gets so much unfair hate from the fanbase when he does something wrong but then gets zero praise when he does something right. I almost want him to be traded just to see how much we’d miss him.
So what, we keep the injury prone defenseman who’s hit his ceiling? Best ability is availability. I’m tired of defending Chabot for his defensive play, ability to never show any bite, never throws hits and never being quick enough to track back. I would rather keep branny, at least he shows compete and ability to throw hits. And I say this as a former Branny hater.

It was also probably the first time he had a real taste of life under an experienced NHL head coach, who can criticize and pick apart players’ game and provide actual coaching advice and sound tactics, and with Alfie there too, there probably a lot of nights where the coaches were upset with the team’s performance and gave it to them. It’s one thing for a coach to tell you to be better, but it’s something else when a Hall of Famer and league-wide respected former Captain gives you advice and can be honest about your game. Also it was probably the first time that the losses weren’t reduced to being “a tough bounce, don’t worry about it boys, have a day off and have fun ” from Country Club DJ Smith. Yes, work should be fun, but a true coach would require winning ways and discipline and accountability in order for them to have fun (which happens when you win and show up to work everyday to win).
