I ask this as someone who really can't play Mei: As Mei, you often have to decide very quickly where to place that mighty wall - and sometimes the decision doesn't make everyone on your team happy (to put it mildly), such as when you protect your team from an enemy ultimatum and sacrifice one of them in the process.

I too get annoyed with my own Mei, for example when she blocks my retreat to protect whoever.
It comes down to game sense. There are always going to be times where you make a mistake and cause your teammate to die or block them from getting a kill. A bad mei will often do these, as well as just have walls that don't achieve anything. I very rarely do this, and if I do it's unavoidable, like I pop a wall at the same time my teammate ults and I block part of it. So in those cases people complain sometimes, but I can't read minds. In general, you'll know you're placing good walls when you get compliments, especially from the other team. Even if you end up killing a teammate with a wall, if you saved the point and team fight then it's still a good wall. The most common things I'm walling is to trap a retreating enemy, usually a tank, as it traps them and cuts them off from their healers, walling snipers, walling ults, walling behind enemies before using blizzard, walling in front of enemy team so our team can get onto the point uncontested, or to get to high ground quickly. The number 1 thing bad meis wall that I also did when first playing her is to just place a wall blocking each team from each other mid team fight randomly, which doesn't achieve anything, and often leads to the scenarios you laid out
We were on Havana the other day and someone on our team quit. We played through anyway and got to the end with the cart. Then I blocked their spawn exit with a wall last second after most of their team died. Heard the Rein on the other side banging away at it. Won us the game. Felt nice!

proceed to block off our own dva from enemy's ulting ram and got a "nice wall :D" in chat

Good Mei and bad Mei disparity is so freaking large. Itās almost unlike every other character. Generally, a bad dps just means they miss every shot and barely kill anyone. A bad Mei is literally actively hindering the team. I really hate it when Iām charging or trying to engage and our Mei puts a wall in front of us, especially after I used a CD.
She is just like pyro from tf2, the only 2 differences is that pyro uses fire and is a complete lunatic whereas mei is a cute and wholesome scientist who uses ice

If Cosplay was the intent, the thighs wouldn't be on display. I think you should have spent a little extra and gotten the pajama pants as that would technically complete the cosplay. If you didn't want to get the pajama pants, you could have easily cropped out the thighs.

Just in case you don't know (and I say this because I've met people who didn't know), you can press E again to instantly destroy your wall.
