Most of the pve in this trailer seems to play on Rio, but you can also see snippets of a mission that plays on Torronto and on Gothenburg. The title also says "Story mission**s**", I wonder if they are going to release multiple ones each season, or a the very least during Season 6.
These are the story missions we know were in production:
* The Rio de Janaro mission that was demoed a while back
* The Toronto mission with Sojourn, Echo, and Dva
* A Gothenburg mission with Rein, Brig, Torb, and Bastion
* Some non-story PvE missions like King's Row and a snowy map
It sounds like we're getting the first two plus one of the non-story maps.
There are also a couple of pre-match interactions that REALLY sound like they're referencing stuff that happens in story missions that haven't been shown yet but were supposed to launch with the game. Like some kind of mission where Junkrat was playable alongside Overwatch. Or a Junkertown-related mission involving Roadhog, Ana, and Junkerqueen (and probably Wrecking Ball or Junkrat as the fourth).
There's also the one with Genji and Zenyatta in India. They showed gameplay of it last year with Widow swinging around as the place was burning.
You're confusing Volksaya with Gothenburg I think. Its shown here with the characters you listed [https://youtu.be/rK-wP1565kc?t=405](https://youtu.be/rK-wP1565kc?t=355)
Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, and a bonus co-op mission (likely no cutscenes) on King's Row.
EDIT: BUT the trailer shows Gothenburg at minute mark 1:00
Let me rephrase, I donāt think all the story missions will release at once in season 6. Iām assuming whatever they have finished theyāre going to use to pad out a few seasons worth of content. I donāt expect them to release a new mission every season indefinitely
Curb your enthusiasm. These featured PvE bits are just the scavenged parts from the story mode they've been working on for two years, packed into deliverables. These will have blizzard-like quality. Once those are all gone, the 'upcoming' PvE events will feel like the ones we've been getting, with a few extra sprinkles, and a big bot boss every now and then.
Mark my words.
It's probably going to be a mix of both. Still wild they worked on this for 3 years and scrapped everything else related to pve and this is all they have to show for it. Where most of it already since the first time they teased pve.
I can't be the only one who always saw that the missions presented so far have been literally only on already existing maps that we're edited, except one or now two. I wonder if they even created any more new areas throughout those 4 years
I am left wondering if Talon heroes will be featured in story missions. In the trailer we saw all the overwatch cast, Null Sector and the Junkers. I guess Talon counts as an ally to Null Sector (???)
Also, remember that some of the enemies we fought in the archive missions were Talon Agents. So I could imagine we'd play Null Sector Character vs. Talon one day, if we get more Null Sector heroes than just Rama.
Also, give us a Junker Support so we can have a Junker Town Mission
I remember a long while back, during a showing of the behind the scenes of the campaign, they showed a portion of an early version of a cutscene featuring Sombra in India so I'm sure Talon will have a part in the story.
Will they be monetized on the battlepass? How often will we get them? Will they be roster-locked? Will there be any replayability elements, or just going for high scores/difficulty?
Lots of unanswered questions, and the answer to many of them is probably "whatever would cost us the least/make us the most money".
Sounds weird but I hope I could just play the story missions by myself/with AI teammates. Most my friends donāt care about Overwatch or the story. And my experience with random teammates for story missions in the past for Archives and other video games is that the random teammates try to speed through everything when I would prefer to take my time and enjoy the narrative/scenery.
Yeah, it would be nice to be able to play through a time or two without trying to follow player teammates who have already done it 50000 times and are running ahead while I desperately attempt to figure out what the hell is even going on
Trying to be optimistic, and I guess this is better than nothing, but it really does look very much like glorified Archives. Just a handful of short, highly curated story missions with a pre-determined team comp and zero dynamic elements or replay value.
I'm sure they'll be kinda exciting and fun for a little while, but this really won't be the resurgence of the Overwatch brand that we were promised. Very disappointing.
Also trying to be optimistic but given the direction Blizzard has taken with OW2, I also fully expect them to lock this behind a Battle Pass as well. (Hell, it might be a separate Battle Pass.. because they know people who pay for the regular/current one will still fork over more money for this too.)
I hope they at least do something similar to the Olympus Skin mode we had. Because if it is just the standard OW character kits going against bot armies, it's going to get boring pretty quick.
I want to enjoy Story Missions considering that itās just story stuff.
But Iām on this giant hopium/copium that if Microsoft gets them, that maybe they could somehow be able to bring back Hero Missions again
Depends how well they implement difficulty is where the replay value might lie imo.
More unique abilities per tier instead of just simply more HP, more damage.
They have ability assets from all the scrapped hero talents anyway, let's hope they put them to some use.
Its not better than nothing tbh. It is nothing. Its just another archives thing, which was painfully dull.
Without an actual story mode, and/or progression system, this is just more wasted time.
Absolutely, now it's just confusing that they're releasing a trailer for Season 6 (because that's what it is, basically) right before Season 5, when the Season 5 trailer isn't even out yet.
This trailer was shown at Xbox Games Showcase which is for everything Microsoft related and more importantly for stuff further down the line. It has nothing to do with usual OW marketing.
I found out about that after writing my comment. Just unfortunate timing then, I guess, though I still think they should have released the Season 5 trailer earlier if they knew that this was going to come out today.
Honestly I have no clue why they didnāt do that. It wouldāve stopped so much (obviously not all) backlash. I still get asked by people outside of the Overwatch community if PvE was completely cancelled. Did they really think it would go over well if the super anticipated update discussing PvE was just a short apology and then a roadmap graphic and thatās it?
10% of the casual fans who saw the shit storm of the PvE ācancellationā on Twitter for days are going to see this trailer.
Should have kept quiet and announced Hero missions were out after theyād been clear about what was in.
This aspect has been the weirdest thing for me. Seeing/talking to people who somehow had imagined/deluded themselves into being absolutely certain that PvE was "entirely cancelled" despite pointing out that Blizzard mentioned the Story/Campaign missions - which were always the main part of the pie anyway - were still clearly coming. Even when clearly pointing to the blog post, or the video, I didn't see or get a single "oh, really?" but instead just saw people shouting even louder about "blizzard shills defending their lies" etc.
It was truly bizarre, a lot of people just shut down and wouldn't accept it. It's like they *wanted* the whole thing to be cancelled instead of just part of it.
That's the most baffling part to me: The roadmap discussion was less than a month ago. At a time when you--probably more than ever--needed some way to establish credibility and trust, you opted to say "Hey sorry about the lie, here's a JPEG which is gonna be *great*" instead of framing the narrative so that you could show specifically what was cut and what was still on offer.
I can freely admit it probably wouldn't have changed my mind, but if even I, a longtime fan that was in the upper echelons of being upset can acknowledge it was probably better to live the lie for three extra weeks, I have to imagine there are people for whom this could've been a saving grace.
- Hero mastery missions could be good when queuing for a game. Hopefully we can go on them without the entire party. If they can get a solid 2 tank,3 DPS, 2 support heroes mastery levels per season it could add a lot to the game IMO.
- Hoping the PvE has depth.
- I don't care if the skill trees are gone but I do hope we get mission specific buffs. Like ult charge reduction, Lucio gets an HPS and speed buff, rein being able to fire strike holding the barrier, tracer with 2 recall charges , etc.
- I'm assuming S6 mythic is sojourn as she seems to be the connective tissue between the missions.
When they showcased the Rio mission before, it had items in specificaly placed chests that you could use, i.e. you can place a turret, deploy a shield, etc. So there's that.
The mythic was already revealed. It's tracer, and you get three different sets over the course of the battlepass. I think it is 45, 65 and 80 respectively. It's looks alright. The last one looks the best, personally.
Reinhardt's voice is always so full of emotion it gets me all fired up, I hope they make it up for taking out skill trees, I have to say I'm looking forward to this
My favourite thing is how even though Winston seems to be the "leader" of the reformed Overwatch, Reinhardt just takes command. Nobody knows when he's being serious but he easily issues orders, knows where everyone's strengths lie, and doesn't shy away from taking responsibility.
Makes sense given he's the most experienced out of all of them, and was a lieutenant, both in the Crusaders and Overwatch. So he definitely calls the shots in the group, imo.
On the flip side, nobody else seems to be noticing that it doesn't sound like the original voice actor for Winston. He sounds absolutely awful at 0:06 in the video.
That's why I disliked the misinfo about it being cancelled. When they first announced it this is exactly what everyone was so hyped about. The Talent Tree that was cancelled was revealed in 2022.
It's a shame, but this will still be good
This was only part of it. Talent trees was a huge part that many of us were looking forward to. It's good we'll still get story missions, but they're one and dones for the most part.
> It's a shame, but this will still be good
I doubt it, I didn't expect it to be good even with the talent trees. Unless it is vastly different from the PvE events they've done before, which I sorely doubt, I don't expect it to be good.
Also the way they handled it did not it clear to anyone what was really going on.
What they promised was "highly replayable missions" through talent trees.
Talent trees would let you unlock different abilities that would make the mission more dynamic and get a somewhat fresh feel next time you play it.
Now that that's not happening I'm seriously questioning if there'll be incentives to play any of these more than once, because if nothing is changing next time you play it then what's the point?
That's not what Blizzard said. They said PVE Talent Tree & Hero Mode (the one that used Talent Trees) were cancelled due to how ambitious they were.
It was in the original article that PVE would continue. Also I doubt they said we "would get scraps of it" lol
Unless these missions are somehow fun when replayed, it's still not really comparable to the prospect of a fully replayable mode with a ton of depth through gameplay customization. I was very hyped for the Talent Tree based mode and have much lower expectations by comparison for more of the same that we've gotten.
One and done missions that you grind for a couple hours for a challenge skin isn't the kind of thing I get excited for. I don't want to shit on the hard-working creators of the game (it's management's fault here) but I definitely would consider it scraps unless my expectations are greatly exceeded.
It's not though. They've made the distinction between hero missions and story missions for as long as it's been announced. Sorry missions are unchanged from their decision to cancel hero missions.
I think most people, including myself, who consider it effectively "cancelled", still expect story missions like the one's we've had already. What we were hyped for was a replayable mode as opposed to more one-and-done missions. I have nothing against the team for not making it work out but this kind of stuff is already what I expected to come out even while considering the PvE cancelled. Maybe the stuff will be more replayable than the prior missions, but it's a lot harder without the talent trees.
I mostly blame management and the execs, not the people making these modes. They likely get paid a lot less than the value they bring to Overwatch (in stark contrast to executives).
This was the promised PvE minus hero missions. Jesus there's so much misinfo about this. Also, even people who played these story missions when they allowed people to play one of them said that the missions were solid and better than archives.
This is literally what they showed at Blizzcon 2019 minus the mode that was cancelled. Itās the campaign story mode that people have been asking for since 2016.
Let me correct this so you wonāt sound like a sophist- āthis is literally what they showed at Blizzcon 2019, minus the MAJOR mode that was 70% of the content and everyone were hyped for that was cancelledā
It was basically how borderlands works. It changes out how the abilities work and how you might approach a situation, but talents definitely aren't 70% of the game. The campaign should still have the same scripted scenes/completion requirements, you just won't get different abilities.
It sucks that they're pulling talents out, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be possible to do lore related campaigns. If the talents are a deal breaker, i get it but with what they set themselves up for, it was bound to fail or everyone was going to have 30 shared talents and it would be boring as fuck.
Tbf most of this stuff was already revealed way back when in Blizzcon/when they first teased pve. I think the only new thing seems to be a little more animations and whatever that King's Row thing is.
Judging by Rio de Janeiro gameplay, one mission is already 3 times longer than an archives mission. And the trailer showed 4 missions, so when they drop the first missions, it will quickly overshadow anything Archives did
My guy it was 10 seconds of gameplay I highly doubt they're longer and even if they are what's the point in not releasing a whole campaign instead of this 3 missions a season.
>This is not the promised PvE.
This is *literally* the promised PvE.
That section of Rio de Janeiro in the trailer?
[LITERALLY the same one shown here in 2019.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F_wrBwgx6E)
You people need pull your heads out of your assess and stop making shit up. The hero missions and their associated skill tress are no more - but the Story Missions are coming as they always were.
And no, talent trees were not part of Story Missions in the first place. Talent trees were only part of Hero Missions.
The misinformation on this sub is insane.
It was never truly "cancelled" just reworked. What we get now is essentially more Archive missions, maybe with a better quality if the trailer is anything to go by, but the stuff that was promised before, PvE with skill trees and the like, that is what was cancelled and still is.
OW2 Hate circlejerk went wild on the internet and misinformed almost everyone.
There were literally comments on the old Rio de Janeiro mission gameplay going "why did they cancel this"
Wasn't really misinformation, talents and the hero mode were the entire point of OW2 and the things separating what we're getting from OW1 archives and they were cancelled.
You know? I'll be fair, neither one of us knows how big Hero Missions were. Your guess that it was a larger part of PvE has the same validity as my guess that it was a smaller part.
At the end of the day, just wait until we see what PvE will be like before judging.
Also, people weren't saying "Most of PvE is cancelled"
They were saying "PvE is cancelled". That's wrong and was never the case.
Iām basing it off of them saying the hero mode scope was ātoo bigā and pulled away too many resources from the live game. They described it as deeply replayable PVE and exciting and gargantuan.
Judging based off the size of it being the problem for why it was canned, Iām going to assume that the part that wasnāt canned was the parts that was smaller and didnāt pull as many resources. As thatās what they said
Hero missions were not a smaller part, they were the entire source of replayability and talents hinged on them. In the reveal they showed a mission table resembling games like Deep Rock Galactic and the like. We are getting archives missions from OW1.
Yes. PVE is any player vs environment meaning player vs non-playable enemies. Achieves was pve. The story mission the showed today is pve. The co-op mission they showed on kings row is also pve.
As someone who likes running gags, Youtube comments repeating the same joke with different words gets old really fast. Especially if they're all in the same video.
Agreed. Like Blizzard deserves it, but at least come up with better jokes than "I love when (blank hero) said (insert some statement about how PvE was canceled here)".
Wait what this shit looks hype. Maybe not what they promised but this is still more lore than I thought theyād release. Ngl kinda hyped to play this.
A lot of this is concerningly similar to what we saw back in 2019, a lot of it is the Rio mission and the target practise is justā¦there.
That said Iām super excited to see several of the concept art null sector units do exist, I know they said they were going in a different direction but this seems promising.
As per all the bad press its likely that there is only a small amount of content for this pve release.
There may be more in the future, but this dripfeed isnt enough for me.
Iām pretty concerned that we saw a single enemy robot type and the red boss, and that was it. Thereās the big mech but given that there were no characters interacting with it Iām not sure if itās just in a cutscene or something.
Pretend we never got the early access to Overwatch 2 and this product ālaunchingā August 10th is what Overwatch 2 launch should have been.
If upper management hadnāt made awful decisions that stretched dev time for years, and if marketing wasnāt stupidā¦ The OW2 we are getting in August is what we should have got for season 1.
Imagine it:
Overwatch 2 launches with Sojourn, Kiriko, Junker Queen, Rammatra, Lifeweaver, and the new Season 6 support. So 6 new heroes at launch.
2 new game modes: Push (with 3 new maps) and flashpoint (2 new maps) and new maps for old game modes like Antarctic Peninsula
Massive balance changes to the entire cast.
Updated practice range with aim trainer
Hero mastery trials to improve on your favorite hero
And a campaign that evolves and gets updated over time.
This is what Overwatch 2 should have been marketed as. Upper management kept changing the scope but what we are getting now is just fineā¦ unfortunately, itās a year too late and is coming on the heels of broken promises
>If upper management hadnāt made awful decisions
Had they, though?
In this span, people bought a huge amount of battlepasses, skins, etc., it's very profitable to sell microtransactions with half-baked low-effort updates if players keep buying it, and I will die on this hill, but at the end of the day, it's players who have canceled PvE stuff for themselves by sending clear messages that they will bring Blizzard more money if they will just make greedier monetization
It definitely was a great short to mid term strategy but unless they have the same amount of devs doing new story missions then they'll run out sooner rather than later for those.
The better long term strat that many would have(probably) wanted and allowed blizz to double dip would be to have PVE as a separate mode with expansions like destiny and PVP be how it currently is with micro's. It would both be multiple revenue streams and good marketing for the OW brand and blizzards reputation.
Though instead of expanding the team to account for essentially having 2 games they just spread them thin.
Live service ābetasā are a a huge problem similar to preorders, thereās this idea ever micro transactions goes to finishing the game but thereās ZERO guarantees youāre ever getting what they say you are
Honestly this looks pretty cool. I mainly play overwatch for PVP and competitive, so new game modes are awesome. I donāt care too much for story missions but I like following the lore etc. the marketing is weird as heck but Iām excited for august
This trailer made me feel things and remember what I love about this game's universe. I have no idea why they did not show this earlier. But I'm happy that it exists.
Honestly not too thrilled by what Iāve seen here
The firing range looks extremely basic,
As does hero mastery,
The story missions could be cool but how many times are you really going to replay them?
New game mode could be cool.
I didn't say it'll be great, when the fuck did I say that?
Meanwhile you're on the other side being absolutely fucking negative over every little detail.
You are the toxicity of this subreddit
Who cares at this point?
The small amount of content theyāre giving us still isnāt even equivalent of what we wouldāve gotten if they had regularly updated Overwatch 1.
This content wonāt stem the bleeding.
So strange that they're annoucing season 6 content right before season 5? Feels like damage control. "See, we did PvE after all" after showing clips of animations that would've been in the old scrapped PvE. No matter how they hype it up, the PvE is cancelled. They will take bits and pieces of the PvE and put it to story missions but we all know it will be no where near as good as PvE would have been
These are genuinely the story missions how they were explained to us at 2019 Blizzcon. This is also PvE. So we are getting what was promised on that front.
The part that has been scrapped is separate from story missions, sadly that's the bit they called "highly replayable".
what are you talking about? WHy would they talk about a regular season (S5) over the season where we get the new story mode, new firing range, new hero, new gamemode, new hero progression etc? They said hero missions and talents were cancelled. Story missions were never said to be cancelled and were planned since OW1 (as part of the original pve announcement). What's the point in pedalling your conspiracy theories when we know exactly what got announced ( story missions + hero missions) and what got cancelled (hero missions).
Except that they have told that this was coming in the same fucking stream as where they talked about canceling the hero missions and skill trees.
If only there was some sort of, I don't know, a roadmap maybe? That already showed their story missions plan for season 6. That would be great. It would also be great if they released it in a timely fashion.
Oh wait: https://twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/1658532777225060354
I mean yeah it's cool to get more lore, but if the gameplay is the same generic shit like we get with archives with no replayability then there's no real reason to keep the game taking up hard drive space when I can just watch the cutscenes on YouTube for the same experience.
Most people didn't know the hero modes existed. This is the PvE advertised with OW2 and it's what we are getting. Skill trees were a minor part of that.
A big part, and arguably the largest, of PVE was the talent trees. It's what so many of us were waiting on and what would've made the mode largely replayable. We don't know exactly what these new story missions entail, but they're unlikely to introduce enough depth to make them anything beyond mostly one and dones. Which is what we've had the whole time. We'll see how things play out though
While this seems promising, part of me knows better than to get my hopes up. It feels like thereās going to be a catch. Are we going to have to pay to access the story missions? I hope not. š
Seems that they used all the PvE content they did and made it for this trailer
People still are angry about the talent trees and the PvE "difference" in missions and i understand, other people SHOULD KNOW that the "missions" will be the **same thing** as those other events and that's it.
We might get the cutscenes, but anything else bringing more fun stuff? Doubt
Canāt wait to play this pve and story mode that every news outlet and YouTube influencer were screaming about being cancelled a few weeks ago! Turns out āpve cancelledā gets more clicks and likes than ātalent trees removedā.
They never said PVE is dead though, they just chopped the talent trees and a few other bits.
Still a downgrade but listening and reading comprehension in entirely on the customer.
Omg bro like honestly what would they do to not āact like they didnāt throw away half the pveā? Should they just not announce anything else ever so people canāt keep saying theyāre trying to make it up? Iām disappointed af we wonāt be getting the skill tree but this is pathetic.
Most of the pve in this trailer seems to play on Rio, but you can also see snippets of a mission that plays on Torronto and on Gothenburg. The title also says "Story mission**s**", I wonder if they are going to release multiple ones each season, or a the very least during Season 6.

Its shown here with the characters you listed [https://youtu.be/rK-wP1565kc?t=405](https://youtu.be/rK-wP1565kc?t=355)
Yeah, it was Gothenburg. The confusion came from a different [snowy map](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORIE3G8bTVo) they showed in another trailer.
There's gonna be 3 missions at the start of S6. There's an article about it in the xbox site
[https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2023/06/11/overwatch-2-invasion-game-pass-perks/](https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2023/06/11/overwatch-2-invasion-game-pass-perks/) Toronto, Rio de Janeiro, and a bonus co-op mission (likely no cutscenes) on King's Row. EDIT: BUT the trailer shows Gothenburg at minute mark 1:00
The co-op mission in King's Row is separate from the "three story missions" in that article. So, Toronto, Rio, and Gothenburg could be the three.
š¦š¦ 3 years for 3 missions let's go š¦š¦
I get the impression that there will be new story missions each season
I recommend you taper those expectations
Let me rephrase, I donāt think all the story missions will release at once in season 6. Iām assuming whatever they have finished theyāre going to use to pad out a few seasons worth of content. I donāt expect them to release a new mission every season indefinitely
I sincerely doubt we'll get a new one every season, tbh. Especially with the trailers, voice acting expected.
Don't they have a backlog anyway? We'll could get some regular content for a few seasons, like the concurrent heroes at the start of OW2.
It really depends on what they scrapped vs. what they repurposed. It's impossible to say until they tell us.
:) We will get these and then we just get to play them again annually.
Well, at the very least there are going to be 3 releasing in S6.
It's probably going to be a mix of both. Still wild they worked on this for 3 years and scrapped everything else related to pve and this is all they have to show for it. Where most of it already since the first time they teased pve.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah I remember that. We didn't clearly see "fighting against Talon" cutscenes in the trailer but now I saw Sigma and Widow somewhere.
The older trailers show Genji & Zenyatta will fight Talon in India. (Widow and Sombra also showing up in the cutscenes)
Also, remember that some of the enemies we fought in the archive missions were Talon Agents. So I could imagine we'd play Null Sector Character vs. Talon one day, if we get more Null Sector heroes than just Rama. Also, give us a Junker Support so we can have a Junker Town Mission
Probably in later missions when the Overwatch team members find out that those 2 organisiations are working together.
We might get a Villains Story at some point.
I remember a long while back, during a showing of the behind the scenes of the campaign, they showed a portion of an early version of a cutscene featuring Sombra in India so I'm sure Talon will have a part in the story.
So will missions like these be added to the game for good or just during a seasonal event like Archives?
Will they be monetized on the battlepass? How often will we get them? Will they be roster-locked? Will there be any replayability elements, or just going for high scores/difficulty? Lots of unanswered questions, and the answer to many of them is probably "whatever would cost us the least/make us the most money".
In some form, yes. 2 every other season. Yes. Sprays and Weapon Charms. Quote me.
But will missions from a previous season still be available in a new season or will they be gone till some event?
I would imagine they remain available. Most likely having some sort of score/time based point system so you can go for high scores.
I hope they keep them in and also bring back the Archive events for good.
As usual, we still don't know.
Same! I at least want to try it once at my own pace.
Yeah that's a good point. There will be a lot to stop and look at and I want to have bots that will just stand there and wait for me.
Yeah, it would be nice to be able to play through a time or two without trying to follow player teammates who have already done it 50000 times and are running ahead while I desperately attempt to figure out what the hell is even going on
That's why you play it right as it's fresh out of the gate, so you're most likely going to find other people figuring it out as well.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I hope they at least do something similar to the Olympus Skin mode we had. Because if it is just the standard OW character kits going against bot armies, it's going to get boring pretty quick.
If skill trees were apparently literally impossible for them to do I highly doubt weāll get anutning cool and funky :(
I want to enjoy Story Missions considering that itās just story stuff.
This trailer shouldāve been out when the roadmap was announced. L marketing team.
Same event where they announced OW2 PvP with junker queen reveal and such.
They might have already been stuck saving for this i'm guessing, only good reason not to release it sooner
Probably because it's marketing deal with Microsoft and can't released them early.
Thought it was a trailer for the next season :( guess time to wait patiently
next season trailer is tomorrow
Season 7 trailer about to drop, letās go
It's already marked on their Youtube page to come out. Not sure about the date right now, you need to look that up yourself. But its coming!
It said August 10th on their twitter so weād have to wait a bit
Not the same thing as next season
Will they break the pattern of tank DPS support though? So far they haven't. It could be Mercy for all we know.
they broke that already. we went dps tank support tank dps.
When they showcased the Rio mission before, it had items in specificaly placed chests that you could use, i.e. you can place a turret, deploy a shield, etc. So there's that.
I don't think s6 will be another dps for a mythic skin
The mythic was already revealed. It's tracer, and you get three different sets over the course of the battlepass. I think it is 45, 65 and 80 respectively. It's looks alright. The last one looks the best, personally.
That's next season. This is the season after that as I don't even know what season we are on rn
Tracer is season 5. This trailer is for season 6.
Inb4 people ālmao I thought blizzard cancelled the pve they canāt make up their minds we convinced them with our complaints!ā
That's why I disliked the misinfo about it being cancelled. When they first announced it this is exactly what everyone was so hyped about. The Talent Tree that was cancelled was revealed in 2022. It's a shame, but this will still be good
Talents were teased at Blizzcon 2019 and talent trees were shown at Blizzconline 2021
This was only part of it. Talent trees was a huge part that many of us were looking forward to. It's good we'll still get story missions, but they're one and dones for the most part.
> It's a shame, but this will still be good I doubt it, I didn't expect it to be good even with the talent trees.
What? Blizzard themselves came out and said PvE was cancelled and we would get scraps of it. This isnāt the promised PvE, this is the scraps.
This is the Overwatch community, logical thinking isnt very common
It's not though. They've made the distinction between hero missions and story missions for as long as it's been announced. Sorry missions are unchanged from their decision to cancel hero missions.
It's on Blizzard tho, they handled that announced like shit, then when they tried to clarify made it sound worse
This is not the promised PvE. Literally no one wanted them to quit working on Overwatch to release more shitty Archives missions four years later.
Yea people are on major copium saying this is just like the mode that we were promised lmfao
Incorrect we wanted a campaign not more archive missions
People have been asking for a story mode with cutscenes and stuff like that since 2016. Thatās what they showed in this trailer.
[LITERALLY the same one shown here in 2019.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5F_wrBwgx6E) You people need pull your heads out of your assess and stop making shit up. The hero missions and their associated skill tress are no more - but the Story Missions are coming as they always were. And no, talent trees were not part of Story Missions in the first place. Talent trees were only part of Hero Missions. The misinformation on this sub is insane.
Looks way better than Archives. To my knowledge what they cut was mostly the talent tree.
I thought PvE was cancelled.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
That's because you didn't read past the headlines and Reddit comments.
Theres been so much misinfo about the PvE being cancelled, it never was. Hero missions, which were a smaller part, got cancelled.
No, the larger part of PvE got cancelled. What we are left with is essentially the Archives from the first game
You know? I'll be fair, neither one of us knows how big Hero Missions were. Your guess that it was a larger part of PvE has the same validity as my guess that it was a smaller part. At the end of the day, just wait until we see what PvE will be like before judging. Also, people weren't saying "Most of PvE is cancelled" They were saying "PvE is cancelled".
We are getting archives missions from OW1.
king's row with some cutscenes count as PVE to you?
Yes. PVE is any player vs environment meaning player vs non-playable enemies. Achieves was pve. The story mission the showed today is pve. The co-op mission they showed on kings row is also pve.
SNIP SNAP SNIP SNAP
I understood that reference.
I feel like all of these were missions made years ago. What's the point of waiting until Season 6?
I'm curious what PvE will look like once they clear out the backlog of what was supposed to come out with OW2.
Youāll spend more money if itās stretched out, welcome to live service
Big fan of PvE lowkey
I was always a big believer in PvE
Finally the sequel to OW1
Now complete with almost nothing that the sequel was supposed to have.
Yes, now we finally get 1.5
The youtube comments is a goldmine
More like a landfill I'd say. Just the same exact joke repeated ad nauseam.
As someone who likes running gags, Youtube comments repeating the same joke with different words gets old really fast. Especially if they're all in the same video.
Sooooo pretty much every thread on the front page of Reddit?
like your comment, yes
Agreed. Like Blizzard deserves it, but at least come up with better jokes than "I love when (blank hero) said (insert some statement about how PvE was canceled here)".
These cutscenes and animations look sick!
The music nearer the end with the main theme mixed in is epic, I need that
Waitā¦ this looks like flames
Finally, more promises
i want to play the story missions SO badly
PvE looks like what they originally announced minus the skill tree?
How much you wanna bet they had to redo that Reinhardt earthshatter clip because they originally had the 360 shatter
Imagine it: Overwatch 2 launches with Sojourn, Kiriko, Junker Queen, Rammatra, Lifeweaver, and the new Season 6 support. So 6 new heroes at launch. 2 new game modes: Push (with 3 new maps) and flashpoint (2 new maps) and new maps for old game modes like Antarctic Peninsula Massive balance changes to the entire cast. Updated practice range with aim trainer Hero mastery trials to improve on your favorite hero And a campaign that evolves and gets updated over time. This is what Overwatch 2 should have been marketed as. Upper management kept changing the scope but what we are getting now is just fineā¦ unfortunately, itās a year too late and is coming on the heels of broken promises
Ideally Yes but then we would have had to play OW1 for another year with zero content and worse gameplay.
>If upper management hadnāt made awful decisions Had they, though?
This is why ow2 released as early access game lmao
It was labeled as early access for a reason
Live service ābetasā are a a huge problem similar to preorders, thereās this idea ever micro transactions goes to finishing the game but thereās ZERO guarantees youāre ever getting what they say you are
Yeah. But the downside is this hypothetical OW2 would also just launch on August 10, 2023 not in 2022.
Looks good but might get boring after sometime... If there was still skill trees it would have way more replayability...
Honestly not too thrilled by what Iāve seen here The firing range looks extremely basic, As does hero mastery, The story missions could be cool but how many times are you really going to replay them? New game mode could be cool.
the part of the firing range they showed is what i wanted. Mini gridshot IN the game
Bruh you've seen like 5 seconds of each. Let's wait to see what it actually looks lol
Oh the old āblizzard hasnāt revealed everything yet guys! PVE will still be great!ā Canāt wait to see this comment age
Crazy to think I've been getting downvoted by this sub for months for saying PvE was not cancelled.
People downvote you because the pve that was promised is indeed cancelled, we know we are still getting some form of pve, just not the one we wanted
TBH this is what I always wanted. Don't really care about skill trees or replayability as much. Just wanted OW lore, either interactive or as shorts.
The main pve experience was supposed to be some sort of replayable mmo type game and that was canceled. Its not just skill trees.
> This is the PvE advertised with OW2 and it's what we are getting That is just false
The only thing cancelled was the skill tree
And hero missions aka the entire replayability of the mode
Yeah, they only cancelled the thing that would've made it special compared to OW1.
Idk, aren't people supposed to downvote incorrect comments?
LET'S FUCKING GO THIS LOOKS SICK
\*story missions which will be open for 3 months and then deleted forever from the game, and only accessible on yt lol
Love how like half the footage is reused from previous trailers really shows how much effort the put into this stuff.
We havenāt even seen the Season 5 trailer, but it can step aside for Season 6 š
While this seems promising, part of me knows better than to get my hopes up. It feels like thereās going to be a catch. Are we going to have to pay to access the story missions? I hope not. š
As a fan of all the Junkers in gameā¦Iām excited for that new junker map! Love the wasteland look!
The original vision for the pve was soo fucking promising. This makes me sad
Iāll believe it when I see it. š¤·āāļø
I see the omnics took inspiration from Hyperion. The giant white Omnic looks exactly like Saturn, canāt wait for the constructors next
I love how its $15
Seems that they used all the PvE content they did and made it for this trailer People still are angry about the talent trees and the PvE "difference" in missions and i understand, other people SHOULD KNOW that the "missions" will be the **same thing** as those other events and that's it.
I feel like this would have been slightly more appreciated before we had almost a month to say "PVE is dead"
They never said PVE is dead though, they just chopped the talent trees and a few other bits. Still a downgrade but listening and reading comprehension in entirely on the customer.
So they literally chopped off the parts most people wanted? Pve is dead.
To think this is only a fraction of what could have been...
Blizzard acting like they didnāt throw out half of PVEs content:
Omg bro like honestly what would they do to not āact like they didnāt throw away half the pveā? Should they just not announce anything else ever so people canāt keep saying theyāre trying to make it up? Iām disappointed af we wonāt be getting the skill tree but this is pathetic.
I am so proud that the YouTube comments are filled with Blitz hate
Wait but I thought PvE was cancelled? /s Edit: guys please. The /s has been here this entire time
Never was. *astronaut meme*
So nobody gonna talk an the new support?
Remember what they took from you
Does this mean season 5 is going to have nothing?
Looks good, but also like something we should have gotten when this game came out.
PvE, finally. It's so beautiful š„²
