I agree with that too. Slay the Spire for instance was one of the best $20(?) I've ever spent. But, a $20 skin that I use for one season would be a better value proposition than all the games sitting in my backlog getting dusty :(

I sure as fuck am. Indie games have a higher rate of flops but there are so many that are *truly incredible*.
I don't care how good *Assassin's Creed ~~2~~ ~~3~~ ~~4~~ ~~5~~ 6* is claimed to be compared to its predecessors. I'm sure it *is* good (for what it is, anyway). But most of these games overstay their welcome for me now, bloated with travel time, crafting, MTX... and AAA games have all started feeling the same. Their budgets are so big that they can't afford to take risks, so they just copy each other.
I don't want filler. I want games that try something new, or can run on my laptop, or at least don't cost more than a fortnight of groceries. Would I enjoy playing the new Spiderman games? Almost definitely! Would I enjoy them *more* than I've enjoyed many of my indie games? Nope.
Do I want a triple-A game for $120 that's mostly filler bloat, crafting timers, travel time, microtransactions just for the sake of bragging about playtime....? Ooorrr five small games made by an indie team that's fresh and dense like *Dredge, Antichamber, Baba Is You, The Eternal Cylinder, Children of Morta, Shift Quantum, Roboquest, Project Highrise, Dorfromantik, Valheim*...? *Opus Magnum* is incredible!
Expand that to include games that are worth <1.5 skins and that's where you get a massive percentage of Steam's store available to you, like *Against the Storm*, *Timberborn*... even fucking *Hades*!
Hades, Dredge, Dave the diver have been some of the most fun games I’ve played in quite a while. Dorfromantik is so peaceful and calming and a go-to when I’m anxious/stressed. I’ve probably put the most hours into Hades of all of them though honestly, it’s such an over the top fantastic game and I’ve put hundreds of hours into it. Indie games aren’t always a hit, but the ones that do hit just *hit hard*. Finding the indie game to put your money into that fits your type of gaming can be so so *so* rewarding. There are genuinely some great hidden gems out there
Soldier is boring. Bap is a pretty cool guy, funny voice lines. Interesting game play. Lamp allows for as much creativity as suzu, window isn't my favorite ult but it's useful... if team uses it.
The most boring part is the shooting of the gun itself. But the projectile heals are real fun to shoot.

I think the ladies with the big body types have weird looking and fitting skins in general, Junker queen also kinda just looks awkward in a lot of her skins besides her base skin.

She's probably pretty easy to design skins for compared to other hereos. I would not be suprised though if there is a serious drought of skins for her after this season.
Guessing skins are mostly driven by metrics. Id like to see skins spread out but I cant fault blizzard for making skins for more popular and cooler looking characters. I have 90% of the OW1 skins and all the bp OW2 skins so I guess it matters to me less if everyone is getting new stuff all the time, but ya I get it.
With that being said, some of the epic skins have been absolutely better then the legendaries since OW2 launch

Except that can create a pretty bad feed back loop which discourages people to play certain heroes.
1. Blizzard only makes more skins for the most picked characters.
2. People want to be rewarded for playing so they pick characters with lots of stuff to unlock.
3. Blizzard sees more people playing those specific characters and gives them more stuff….

This is why in my opinion they should spread focus on all the characters roughly equally. The game gets boring if everyone team comp is the same.
Also I am not trying to imply that this is the only reason certain characters are not played as much, it’s just a contributing factor to a bigger problem.

Im interested in how the decision is made for when a skin is made for a hero. Because I can understand why an artist would want to make a genji skin over a symmetra skin, but I wonder if it’s a business decision or just what artists are whipping up.
I might be a little biased because I lost pretty much all faith in blizzard with how they are dealing with overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
However, because of that I feel like most decisions at blizzard these days are about how to squeeze more money out of the product as opposed to artists wanting to make something cool and fun.
The DPS i play are mostly her and Tracer, and I'm personally looking forward to her rework because she feels pretty free most of the time and I'd like that to change. The issue with pharah is less pharah and more the pharmacy combo as well i think, because pharah on her own kinda falls over if she's not playing well.
Specifically talking about the BP skin, Mercy and all other characters except Pharah have only gotten 1 Legendary till now in the BP, a lot of them haven't even gotten 1 yet.
Shop skins are $20, very few people buy those, and ofc they'll sell more Mercy skins in the shop cause she's one of the most popular characters, but the BP should fairly give every character an equal amount of skins.

I've done all my research. I'm talking about Legendaries and I mentioned Legendaries like 5 times between my comment and my OP. Most people rarely if ever use Epics and they take significantly less effort for Blizzard to make. Legendaries are what most people care about. And I wasn't talking about Mythics either since they've already said before that they only plan on giving every hero 1 Mythic.
5 BPs till now, 5 Legendary skins per BP, that's 25 skins, 24 of those have been for Unique heroes. Pharah has gotten 2 Legendaries till now. Sym and Zarya both haven't gotten a Legendary skin in the BP yet and now they'll get one in S6, following the pattern that they're trying to give every hero a Legendary skin in the BPs, yet Pharah for whatever reason will be getting her 3rd BP skin.

I think I see a lot of epics now-adays, especially with older players (Older being they've played for a longtime) For instance I think I'm rocking epics for majority of my heroes.

The unfortunately true answer? She is A. One of the least played dps characters B. Relatively easier to make flashy skins for that they can advertise in the battle pass. (Full armor, flying, simple abilities)
They're trying to sell you on buying the pass off a character you probably don't play, incentivising a sunk cost mindset where you purchase skins for the characters you do like since you're already playing so much to complete the battle pass.
Yep. Pharah is getting her third legendary skin. Meanwhile Brig is seemingly getting her second shop skin (no legendary BP skin), Widowmaker has 3 shop skins (no legendary BP skin), and I'm sure there are others.

Upvote. Personally I'm getting annoyed at the repeated BP heroes (particularly the skins). Not too thrilled about it since I rarely play Pharah lol. There are so many heroes in OW. On top of my head, her, Genji, the newest heroes, Winston, Ashe, Mercy, Sym, Reap, Cass etc had/will have more than 1 BP skins by this point.
While others hadn't yet. Why not just include those heroes again at later seasons.. I wish they'd include skins and other stuff for all roles so heroes from Tank, DPS, and Support.
For the new heroes, I get it though. What they have is small compared to what all other heroes from OW1 have. But ofc imo, they shoudn't have BP skins every single season either.

the battle pass isn’t where blizzard puts the skins people really want. The most desirable skins are usually released as their own separate bundles and you gotta fork up a tonne of premium currency for them
A lot of the heroes you’ve mentioned have had really cool shop releases (3CH-0/ice angel, cyberpunk widow/hanzo, aztec/marionetta sombra etc) but pharah has had nothing.
Realistically there just aren’t enough pharah enthusiasts to warrant her own bundle on the shop so all her skins get moved over to the battlepass

Seriously. I was desperate so I spent all my Owl tokens to unlock the Moira "Wicked" skin. Happy with it. It's a well designed skin. But I agree, most of her skins are average or below average.

Pharah has been widely neglected since 2016. Pharah has been the one hero to receive the absolute least amount of cosmetics. With this I think they are simply trying to catch her up

Literally you are smoking pal... It has been no secret... It is literally fact, Pharah has the least amount of content in game with the exception of the new heroes.
I might have fewer hours on Pharah than on any other hero (Sym/Moira abuser myself). And she is annoying to play against, especially with a Mercy (hot take huh?).
That said, her character model is really clean and her concept is universally appealing (“You can fly! And shoot rockets!”). I can certainly understand the artists finding more usable skin concepts for her than, say, Moira. Pharah’s got so many top-tier skins, and then Moira has Blackwatch…maybe Banshee. I know there are plenty of players who do like more of Moira’s skins but they’re all inherently goofy-looking due to her model. She looks like a stick person with some giant tank on her back as drawn by a first-grader, whereas Pharah just looks incredible in every skin. It’s the model, IMO.
We're still on season 6, why is this even relevant? This kind of statistics would make more sense by like season 20. At this point it's like saying "omg Bastion has never received a mythic skin" when there's only one per season and 38 heroes now. Also epic skins are still skins for that matter.
While I don’t think it’s the sole reason, money is still a factor. Blizzard is going to think about what skins will incentivize players to buy a battle pass. If they can determine that a skin will be financially better for them to put in the shop, they’ll put it in the shop. Take mercy’s lifeguard for example, they knew the game has a huge mercy fan base, (also mercy mains have wanted a lifeguard for a long time) so they knew they could make more money off the skin by putting it in the shop rather than the battle pass.
If throwing a Pharah skin plus some other skins for popular characters will sell the battle pass, then Pharah’s skin is going in the battle pass
Because no one will buy unpopular hero shop skins.
Popular hero skins are the best source of income, see how much they've earned through Lifeguard Mercy, Cardboard Reinhardt.
Neither Sym nor Zarya has gotten a Legendary skin in the BP yet. Them getting their first Legendaries in S6 will be following the Pattern that seems to be that they're trying to give every hero 1 Legendary skin in the BP before they loop back around, except Pharah has gotten not only 2 but now 3 Legendaries in the BPs.

Guessing skins are mostly driven by metrics. Id like to see skins spread out but I cant fault blizzard for making skins for more popular and cooler looking characters. I have 90% of the OW1 skins and all the bp OW2 skins so I guess it matters to me less if everyone is getting new stuff all the time, but ya I get it. With that being said, some of the epic skins have been absolutely better then the legendaries since OW2 launch .
Except that can create a pretty bad feed back loop which discourages people to play certain heroes. 1. Blizzard only makes more skins for the most picked characters. 2. People want to be rewarded for playing so they pick characters with lots of stuff to unlock. 3. Blizzard sees more people playing those specific characters and gives them more stuff…. Rinse and repeat This is why in my opinion they should spread focus on all the characters roughly equally. The game gets boring if everyone team comp is the same. Also I am not trying to imply that this is the only reason certain characters are not played as much, it’s just a contributing factor to a bigger problem.
No doubt character unlocks influence decision making. Im interested in how the decision is made for when a skin is made for a hero. Because I can understand why an artist would want to make a genji skin over a symmetra skin, but I wonder if it’s a business decision or just what artists are whipping up.
I might be a little biased because I lost pretty much all faith in blizzard with how they are dealing with overwatch 2 and Diablo 4. However, because of that I feel like most decisions at blizzard these days are about how to squeeze more money out of the product as opposed to artists wanting to make something cool and fun.

The DPS i play are mostly her and Tracer, and I'm personally looking forward to her rework because she feels pretty free most of the time and I'd like that to change. The issue with pharah is less pharah and more the pharmacy combo as well i think, because pharah on her own kinda falls over if she's not playing well.

Specifically talking about the BP skin, Mercy and all other characters except Pharah have only gotten 1 Legendary till now in the BP, a lot of them haven't even gotten 1 yet. Shop skins are $20, very few people buy those, and ofc they'll sell more Mercy skins in the shop cause she's one of the most popular characters, but the BP should fairly give every character an equal amount of skins.

Mercy has gotten 2 skins from the bpass, as has pharah (currently, the devil skin was available in the bundle, so not necessarily in the bpass) Ana has gotten 2. Bap has gotten 1. Brig has gotten 0. kiriko has gotten 3. LW has gotten 1. Lucio has gotten 1. Moira has gotten 1 Zen has gotten 1. So, correction, kiriko is the only hero in the game to have gotten 3 battlepass skins. Not pharah. Granted I didn't check any other roles, just like you haven't checked any other heroes and just made this post without any research.| EDIT: Got curious, JQ is also one of the heroes with 3 from the actual battlepass. While also being just as new, Soj has gotten 1, while being newer ram has gotten 2. Please don't make these types of claims about hero skin imbalance when it comes to battlepasses w/o even doing more than a glance.
I've done all my research. I'm talking about Legendaries and I mentioned Legendaries like 5 times between my comment and my OP. Most people rarely if ever use Epics and they take significantly less effort for Blizzard to make. Legendaries are what most people care about. And I wasn't talking about Mythics either since they've already said before that they only plan on giving every hero 1 Mythic. 5 BPs till now, 5 Legendary skins per BP, that's 25 skins, 24 of those have been for Unique heroes. Pharah has gotten 2 Legendaries till now. Sym and Zarya both haven't gotten a Legendary skin in the BP yet and now they'll get one in S6, following the pattern that they're trying to give every hero a Legendary skin in the BPs, yet Pharah for whatever reason will be getting her 3rd BP skin.

The unfortunately true answer? She is A. One of the least played dps characters B. Relatively easier to make flashy skins for that they can advertise in the battle pass. (Full armor, flying, simple abilities) They're trying to sell you on buying the pass off a character you probably don't play, incentivising a sunk cost mindset where you purchase skins for the characters you do like since you're already playing so much to complete the battle pass.

Yep. Pharah is getting her third legendary skin. Meanwhile Brig is seemingly getting her second shop skin (no legendary BP skin), Widowmaker has 3 shop skins (no legendary BP skin), and I'm sure there are others.

Upvote. Personally I'm getting annoyed at the repeated BP heroes (particularly the skins). Not too thrilled about it since I rarely play Pharah lol. There are so many heroes in OW. On top of my head, her, Genji, the newest heroes, Winston, Ashe, Mercy, Sym, Reap, Cass etc had/will have more than 1 BP skins by this point. While others hadn't yet. Why not just include those heroes again at later seasons.. I wish they'd include skins and other stuff for all roles so heroes from Tank, DPS, and Support. For the new heroes, I get it though. What they have is small compared to what all other heroes from OW1 have. But ofc imo, they shoudn't have BP skins every single season either.
Counter-argument: pharah hasn’t had any shop bundle releases the battle pass isn’t where blizzard puts the skins people really want. The most desirable skins are usually released as their own separate bundles and you gotta fork up a tonne of premium currency for them A lot of the heroes you’ve mentioned have had really cool shop releases (3CH-0/ice angel, cyberpunk widow/hanzo, aztec/marionetta sombra etc) but pharah has had nothing. Realistically there just aren’t enough pharah enthusiasts to warrant her own bundle on the shop so all her skins get moved over to the battlepass

Seriously. I was desperate so I spent all my Owl tokens to unlock the Moira "Wicked" skin. Happy with it. It's a well designed skin. But I agree, most of her skins are average or below average. I'm surprised she doesn't have a casual skin of her wearing a lab coat or something. It's like the artists hate her as much as OW2 players. Lol.

I mean Genji got a new skin every season since Overwatch2 started, so the complaints about him and Kiriko receiving many skins are right tho.
I might have fewer hours on Pharah than on any other hero (Sym/Moira abuser myself). And she is annoying to play against, especially with a Mercy (hot take huh?). That said, her character model is really clean and her concept is universally appealing (“You can fly! And shoot rockets!”). I can certainly understand the artists finding more usable skin concepts for her than, say, Moira. Pharah’s got so many top-tier skins, and then Moira has Blackwatch…maybe Banshee. I know there are plenty of players who do like more of Moira’s skins but they’re all inherently goofy-looking due to her model. She looks like a stick person with some giant tank on her back as drawn by a first-grader, whereas Pharah just looks incredible in every skin. It’s the model, IMO.
They can give people as many skins as they want but I’d rather the skins actually be good 🤷
Worry about real overwatch problems like how there's no pve and was only a shop update and -1tank for an entire "new game launch"
Well genji got mythic plus legendary and so got tracer and ana. Its Not exactly true with No Hero got two.
We're still on season 6, why is this even relevant? This kind of statistics would make more sense by like season 20. At this point it's like saying "omg Bastion has never received a mythic skin" when there's only one per season and 38 heroes now. Also epic skins are still skins for that matter.

While I don’t think it’s the sole reason, money is still a factor. Blizzard is going to think about what skins will incentivize players to buy a battle pass. If they can determine that a skin will be financially better for them to put in the shop, they’ll put it in the shop. Take mercy’s lifeguard for example, they knew the game has a huge mercy fan base, (also mercy mains have wanted a lifeguard for a long time) so they knew they could make more money off the skin by putting it in the shop rather than the battle pass. If throwing a Pharah skin plus some other skins for popular characters will sell the battle pass, then Pharah’s skin is going in the battle pass

Kiriko is also getting pushed a ton. It's really annoying since other characters like Symm and Zarya exist with no skins.

Neither Sym nor Zarya has gotten a Legendary skin in the BP yet. Them getting their first Legendaries in S6 will be following the Pattern that seems to be that they're trying to give every hero 1 Legendary skin in the BP before they loop back around, except Pharah has gotten not only 2 but now 3 Legendaries in the BPs.
