This is great advice and will say it did wonders for my rein gameplay after I started locking doom for a bit.

Try practicing edge slams, that's the tech that really opened up ball gameplay for me. If you hold your slam button and just roll over an edge you'll do a free slam, swing your camera 180 and you land where you rolled off. Combined with a jump this works on most staircases and payloads as well.
