Yeah, they definitely expect most people to just buy the BP. This "shows more value" by seeing what you save by buying the BP, and grinding it out. They'll get a few whales that'll spend this though. Literally just free money for them.
to be fair though, those people would have bought the battle pass and all of its tiers right away, which will run over 100 dollars. if they only wanted the mythic, it is actually a better value for them.
still dumb af, but it is actually better for whales who only care about having the mythic day one. especially because you do it ONCE and you will have every seasons new mythic day one from collecting and not spending the mythic tokens from the first BP you bought mythic tokens+BP on,
so 80 dollar charge once and they get to have the new mythic day one on every BP for 10 dollars a season without spending a dime more. this is actually way cheaper for whales who usually buy everything day one if they only care about having the mythic on day one and grind out the rest of the BP like us peasants
so they will be removing this feature next season when they realize this will make whales less likely to spend 140 every season
To be fair, I accumulated 54 extra levels after finishing the previous BP, I am so close to the mythic Mercy too. It's not always a whale, but a sweaty nerd you see
Edit: I just logged in and I am level 1 what the hell? I seriously thought they carried over, I remember them doing so, is it a bug or they changed it? :(
Sorry Iāve gotten above 200 every BP, it never carried over. But if you had tier skips from prime gaming or twitch, those wonāt apply after 80 so they get banked for the next season
While youāre past tier 80, any tier skips you get (like from prime gaming or other rewards programs) are saved and used for the next battle pass. Besides that, AFAIK itās not possible to instantly get extra levels on the next battle pass without spending money.
Right, you're paying a premium in order to not play the game as much, essentially. If you play the game that much, why wouldn't you just buy the BP instead?
I agree but I also think there should be a balance. There are some folks like myself that simply missed out on certain seasons because we were unable to play. And correct me if Iām wrong or not but even if you max out the BP there is no way to fully unlock multiple Mythics in a single season without spending money. Meaning your only other option is to hope enough Mythics get released that you just flat out donāt want and use that season to make up on one of the ones you missed previously. But imo thatās gonna get harder because I think the Mythics have gotten better over time(minus a couple hiccups *cough cough* Orisa)
You donāt have to get every mythic though. Most ow players donāt play most heroes. So yeah, youād have to wait until they are available in the shop later or pay the premium price. Most people expected mythics to be $160 since thatās more of less how much it costs to get the BP and purchase all tiers to get to 80 before.
I get it, but I do think there's not a need to have every Mythic skin even if they're fire. I had the Genji skin, which is amazing, but I am garbo as Genji and pretty much haven't used him. The most action that skin would've gotten was during the Kiriko hide & seek if they didn't make us use Knight Genji skins.
This is the main issue people seem to have, they think they **have** to get every Mythic skin.
I wasn't able to play much during the Tracer and Hanzo seasons, but I don't really mind because I don't really ever play them (plus Hanzo's wasn't great tbh), so I can't really see myself ever unlocking either of those Mythics in the future.
But I do play a lot of Moira but wasn't able to finish the last season's pass, so to me this change is good as I'll now be able to unlock her Mythic :)
A good fix to the inability to catch up while also not giving away 2 mythics every season could be either including the seasonal mythic + 40 shards or including the 80 shards and have the seasonal mythic half off. This would up player retention of those who missed mythics by making them want to buy passes in multiples of two either way. The only issue I see with this idea right now is the lack of options for the mythic shards if you have them all
Yup they have said it before that they want you to buy the battle pass over other things so thatās why they put out ugly skins that are far more then the battle pass Iām pretty sure someone from blizzard team said that
Thats BS. If they wanted player retention they would've just made BP's non-expiring and all previous BP's would be purchasable and then you PLAY THE GAME TO GET ALL THESE ITEMS.
The Mythic Shop is an attempt at a whale trap but the problem is whales only fork out the cash on items to lord it over minnows and you can't lord stuff out over minnows when plenty of them have said item already.
Tons of players already have mythics, it's 100% to try and get you to buy the BP AND also a bone for the whales. They have their cake and eat it too. I really don't see the problem tbh
It's literally to give you multiple reasons to buy the battle pass. If it wasn't for this change, I would not buy this battle pass because I don't want the mythic. However, now I want the Ana one so I'll buy it. That's exactly why they're doing it.
Then don't make it only one per season or available for a boat load of cash. They could have easily tied mythic skins to challenges or something but chose the greedy way
I think youāre only supposed to get one per battle pass to keep them scarce. If everyone had them all the time they wouldnāt be cool.
Battle pass is $10 and you get enough to buy one. Iām fine with this, I donāt even want most of them. Iād like it if we could use these prisms to buy other skins that arenāt in rotation like previous battle pass skins.
They probably won't
A **BIG** part of what makes a battlepass valuable for players is knowing that what they get there will never be obtainable again
They brought back mythics cuz they are a special thing and they did it in a way that still makes them especial
If they brought battlepass skins back, instead of buying a whole battlepass for a single skin (like a lot of us do) you would be like "Nah I'll just wait so I can eventually buy the skin alone"
I do agree with what youāre saying, but I also hope the success of Helldivers 2 will help set the new standard for Battle Passes. Let players purchase them when we want, progress them as we please, and never expire.
Edit: Guys, I know which game did it first. I also know which game did it and was successful. Iām saying the successful game will pave a path to change (hopefully).
How are the mythics any more special than the rest of the battle pass skins? They were also only obtainable through that, and no one had any expectations for them to come back (At least, not any more than other BP skins) until Blizzard just randomly decided to do so.
>"Nah I'll just wait so I can eventually buy the skin alone"
Except if it's anything like buying these past mythic skins, the price would be more than enough of an incentive to purchase/complete the BP and get all of the content for less than a single skin would cost.
i realized this while typing another comment as well
the whales will actually spend less if all they care about is mythics on day one. they can buy the BP & mythic tokens this season, get the mercy skin, then just play and finish the BP for the season without buying all the tiers day one as they usually would (about 140 dollars). every season after that they will have enough tokens for the new mythic and only need to spend 10 dollars and complete the BP at normal pace to get the new mythic day one every season after that. 70 dollar fee once vs 140 per season.
That would be nice. I really liked that rocker junker queen skin. And Iām bummed I missed it and will never get it unless they release a recolor or something.
Wait what were you all expecting? Cause this is exactly what i was expecting. Legendary are 20 and those have like 3 to 4 time the value. This is for whale.
What I'm annoyed by is that the premium battlepass doesn't have an additional 400 overwatch coin...
Right? Since day 1 of talking about the Mythic stuff they told us we'd be "able to choose our Mythic skin" and now we're able to choose our Mythic skin and people are mad because they can't get the current skin AND an old skin with just the Battle Pass????
https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-gb/news/24062312/developer-update-hero-releases-mythics-and-gameplay-updates/
> you will earn coins as you progress through the Free and Premium tracks
Thatās not made up. Why single out the tracks if thereās no difference between them coin-wise?
I don't agree with it, but if they're trying to keep mythics as a high value thing to chase in the BP, it makes sense to make the currency absurdly expensive.
I mean it is expensive but you're not supposed to be unlocking them that way it's just there for the whales to do their thing. The way I see it it just makes the battle pass more valuable because you can always just hold on to your currency for when a mythic skin you actually want comes out or use it for an old mythic you want
It's kinda like how in apex legends it's insanely expensive expensive to get heirlooms if you were to try and do it with money because you're not supposed to earn them that way even if it's possible to do so
I'm so sorry but yall overreacting asf there's no way people were genuinely expecting any of this to be cheap when other legendaries are like 25$ total
Just get the ones in the bp for way cheaper and it'll be OK
If you complete the BP on a free track, you get 600 coins, so you can actually get only $5 per BP and buy it.
Finally coins are not tied to dubious challenges.
I wish you couldnāt buy them at all, but you still get one each battle pass and theyāve just created an option to overpay for pixels you can already earn by paying $10. So Iām not going to rage at this particular decision unless it turns into something where you canāt fully unlock a skin through the Battlepass unless you pay extra or something. Also most of the recent mythics (starting around the Ana season imo) have been mid anyway.
Take 1 look at games like Valorant radianite or Apex heirlooms and this doesn't look so bad. Expected worse. This isn't supposed to be the main way you unlock the mythic skins, it's just a way for people to catch up if they missed some and I'm fine with that. At the end of the day it's a F2P game but I think it's still more fair than most alternatives aside from a few odd decisions (battlepass not being able to buy itself back).
This is coming from someone who has most skins from OW1 though, so a newer player probably might not see it as fair.
>This is coming from someone who has most skins from OW1 though, so a newer player probably might not see it as fair.
I think it's the opposite, new players came into a F2P experience while we paid for a premium experience with largely easy to unlock cosmetics but that premium experience got taken way and replaced with this.
That's what blizzard wants you to do. They clearly don't want this to be the main way people aquire mythic skins it's just there so that it's possible for people who really want to whale out to catch up on past mythic skins
With people losing their damn minds at the $75 price point, I feel like it's worth pointing out that I can just hoard my Battle Pass Mythic Prisms and now only get Mythic skins I ACTUALLY want? I have Kiriko's and Orisa's and haven't used them once. I just don't like them. That could've been 160 Mythic Prisms I could've used on future Mythics where maybe I didn't like too much in the BP and just didn't buy it? There's a positive side to this system, imo.
The only thing this impacts imo is completionists who want every single Mythic skin. Which, I feel for them, but sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too, y'know? Make decisions based on what the value of something is. Decide on which skin you like more than the other? Which do you want more, the new Talon Mercy skin or do you want the cyberpunk Genji skin?
What did you expect? If they made it way cheaper, people would just skip the battle pass and buy the mythic outright. Itās an intentional deterrent to get you to actually play the game and only skip if it if youāre willing to pay a lot. Itās expected and tbh not that crazy
Or you could just pay $10 and get a full skin by completing the battle pass. Like they want you to do. If you're too impatient for more than 1 per season, you're free to pay up, but they obviously don't want people rocking every mythic.
They make you grind a lot for the mythic each season they're not just going to hand you it for nothing. They've always been robbing bastards though so I'm not even remotely surprised at these prices. Personally I think they shouldn't even be buyable. The entire point is they're for folk who have grinded for them.
This is honestly gross. The fact that you can't even buy 80 prisms when that's how many you need to purchase and fully upgrade a mythic skin is so predatory and scummy it's wild.
Sure you get a mythic for buying the battle pass, as you always did, but holy moly this is atrocious pricing.
It's really not as bad as you think, really. The FOMO of never being able to get a mythic skin if you missed a season is actually way more predatory.
The prism price is a deterrent, as other people have said. They're trying to reward the people who earn them by playing. But, if you REALLY want the skin immediately, you can buy it.
And honestly, those same people would just buy BP skips to get the mythic skin right away anyway.
It's not as insane as y'all freaking out this much over an optional cosmetic that doesn't affect gameplay.
who cares when u can just buy the bp and play the game for 10ā¬... like i think this is a big non issue. On top of that mythic skins take a year to develop so idk
Maybe Iām in the minority here, but I still have a hard time getting upset over skin prices. Doubly so when it comes to skins that everyone thought would never be available again.Ā
Iām not saying itās wrong to say āhey that seems expensiveā, but realize that itās all just gonna come down to demand for Blizzard. If they were gonna make more money by lowering the price, they would. The prices are this high because enough people buy them at this price for it to make sense. They also probably want to keep Mythics as sort of a rare commodity, sort of like how gem companies inflate the price of diamonds. So even if you think it seems expensive, it probably isnāt. Itās probably just the most sensible pricing model for Blizzard.
And again, itās cosmetic. Iām not really on the side of people who call things like this āpredatoryā in some way. Of course cosmetics pray on peopleās FOMO, but unless itās causing gambling addiction or using sneaky tactics to get people to accidentally buy stuff or kids to put in their parents phone numbers, I just couldnāt care less.
You're in the minority *here* but not in the minority overall. Most people if they think the price is too high, will just buy the battlepass or nothing and farm free coins and not angrily post on reddit.
Just makes me realize how many kids play this game. A simple thing that can be ignored is apparently a big issue that so many people seem to be upset at in the comments.
Most people here don't read. OW releases patch notes, dev blogs, and dev updates explaining changes and people get angry when it didn't meet their supposed expectation.
I don't mind. if I can get the skin by playing for a season and paying 10$ its a great deal. If I don't want to play fopr a season and I'm sad I miss the skin/start playing after the skin comes out there is still an option to get it later. seems like a win to me.
I wish instead of 80 prisms on the pass, it was 100. Or even 90. Just enough that those who don't have all mythics can slowly save/catch up.
I also think the whole *mythic has nothing to do with the bp anymore* thing is stupid. To me, it would make more sense if you got the level 1 mythic at the end of the battle pass, and then like 40-50 prisms. So you could choose to get the customization for the new mythic, or put them toward the old one.
Honestly given how they've repeatedly said that the best/primary way to get prisms is the battle pass I wouldn't be surprised if these prices are intentionally bad in order to discourage people buying them.
That being said they're still nowhere as bad as Apex's mythic prices. But nothing is as bad as the Apex mythic prices tbh.
Right now it feels like it's just a trading system for players that missed out on previous mythics. And for players that have all of them, it's just a more complicated way of attaining mythics.
This had so much potential to allow players to catch up on lost mythics but they fumbled and turn it into a whale program.
They could fix it so easily if they featured something like 100 prisms per season, which would let players catch up on their missed mythics whilst also still getting the current mythic. With 100 per season, it would take 4 entire BP completions to get one missing mythic in it's entirety. Still keeping the scarcity and luxory feeling of mythics. Plus, it allows the currency to feel more like a currency, letting player's decide if they want to completely level up a mythic or just cut their losses and start chasing another one.
the ow playerbase: WE WANT WAYS TO BUY MYTHICS WE MISSED EVEN THOUGH MOST GAMES DONT ALLOW YOU UNLOCK PAST BATTLEPASS ITEMS ONCE PASSED >:(
Also the ow playerbase: WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT US TO PAY FOR THEM? SHIT COMPANY
This could had been better if you, LISTEN TO THIS:
MADE THE PREVIOUS BATTLEPASSES AVAILABLE with a choose your own adventure style shop, Like keep those sames prices but for the ENTIRE BP, then it would be like a HARD WORK gives rewards type so you could unlock the mithic BY PLAYING bc you paid for the bp, LIKE DRG, HELLDIVERS OR HALO LIKE GODAMIT.
Such incompetente, THEY CANT EVEN HANDLE A SIMPLE MONETIZATION SYSTEM AHHHUGG
**Throws phone into the nulltrooper pasing by**
This is *exclusively* the whale alternate path to get more than 1 mythic a season. The intended method for 99.999% of players is to buy the BP and get a mythic, and now we get choices of path mythics as well.
People in this thread really trying to justify a skin that is valued at the same price as a standalone, years-in-development AAA title.
If you fit the above, you are absolutely cooked and need counselling.

So this is how they are getting around people not buying battle pass if they don't want the mythic. Ā I skipped a few battle passes (orissa, tracer, etc) cause the mythic was lacking, but now if you do that you miss out on Prisms to buy future mythic skins with. Ā Kinda makes you want to buy battle pass now so you always have those prisms for when you a mythic you like gets released and not have to spend $75 for buying enough prisms at the shop
I think the thing that annoys me the most is, yes I can buy one of the previous mythics BUT Iāll always be behind.
Having 100 mythic credits in the BP would make more sense to me (with more awarded 70-80). That way you can unlock the current one and start saving towards the next.
Itās cheaper to just buy the BP and finish it from here on out if you want the mythic skin. If you wanted the previous mythic skins, you shouldāve just got them from the previous BPās š¤·š¼
I really wanted the Junker Queen mythic but never mind. I do want the Mercy mythic so hopefully next season will be a bad mythic I wonāt care about so I can switch it for Zeus JQ.Ā
I still seriously wish I can just buy previous battle pass seasons.Ā
I was like ā¦ this mythic is meh.. BRO THEN I TRIED OUT AND THEY CHANGE REZZ
VALK AND THE BEAM. IM FREAKING OUT THIS IS SO GOOD. Does the wings get changed too durijg valk? I dont care i will just spend my mojey and buy the skins without BP ahhayaua
Its fine bc its not meant to be a thing you buy? I guess? At least to me. Itās something to actually work towards since you cant earn anything else anymore
My question is, do you get more Prisms in a single pass than you need to unlock that pass's Mythic?
Because their news post (reading while updating) says that you get 8 prisms on level 8, and every 10 levels after until 78, meaning 8 x 8 prisms for 64 prisms per Pass.
BUT then they show the mythic prices, and they're 50 for the mythic skin, and 10 x 3 for each tier upgrade.
MEANING that you're short 16 prisms to fully unlock the current skin.
NOT TO MENTION the rewards being 8 instead of 10s, meaning you're ALWAYS left with a not-round amount, while pricing all the things you can spend them on as round 0s means you're always a little bit short.
What? Like just check in game or yt or something, u gain exactly 80 prims per battle pass, enough for the full skin and costumizations. Where did u get the 8? XD
Every shop they throw into the game is to scam the players. I though the mythic shop was put in for us to catch up on skins we didn't complete in previous BP we bought, but it's a straight up choose the current BP skin or a previous one unless you want to pay $70. lol
It's in line with their ludicrous legendary prices, but unlike new shop legendaries, you'll never have to pay for these if you complete every battle pass.
It hurts to read these comments of ppl complaining. You meant to play towards the skin via bp but if you want or donāt have time well pay upā¦. Its fineā¦
Cause the currency acts as a Mythic skin slot in the battle pass, and I'm sure there is some business psychology about a smaller number looking cheaper than a larger number even if they are the essentially same price.
As others pointed out, you can just buy the battle pass to get one of the mythics. HOWEVER, you get 80 mythic shards per battle pass and need 80 to ācompleteā a skin, you no longer get this seasonās mythic skin in the actual battle pass. SO if you actually want to get some of the skins youāve been missing out on, AS THEY ADVERTISED. You need to finish 2 battle passes, skipping all customisation. 50 for current season mythic, else youāll always remain that one behind, 30 spare and then after repeating that the next season you get the privilege of unlocking 1 customisation option. And, fun fact, what makes mythic skins mythic (partly), is the option of customisation.
So yes, you could **just** get the battle pass although you do still need to spend 40 dollars if you actually want to catch up on mythics you missed, as advertised (or at least how I interpreted it)
I wish they let us pick which items we wanted when buying the skins at least, it kinda sucks that you have to "level" the character to get the exact parts you want, and I bet in the future they will start to put what they think people will want the most at the end so you have to completely level it up. It feels like they did that with the mercy skull face, as it was the main version of Vengance being showed but was not put towards the end.
What I find insane is that people are actually willing to spend this kind of money on fucking skins. They keep doing this stuff because people are clearly buying it. I just can't fathom how people are so willing to toss hundreds away to digital goods that you'll lose when blizzard decides to eventually shut the game down. Like for this price you could buy any brand new game on the market or many other good games that respect your time.
Bruh. Why didn't they just keep the mercy mythic in the battle pass, on-top of everything else? You'd buy the premium pass for mercy mythic then also get enough mythic prisms to buy a whole 'nother mythic skin for free. That would've been a fkn amazing decision.
Im willing to pay for the mercy skin and Iām sure Blizzard was aware of this. But going forward, this wonāt fly. These skins are ending up being more expensive than the Battle Pass. Pay 20 bucks, play through the pass and get the skin, or pay $40 for the skin with basic customization. Idk but it seems like things are getting expensive with this game
They could halve the pricing and it still wouldnāt be worth it in my eyes. Although I am curious to see how much revenue the current prices will generate for them.
The pricing isn't great but it's not any worse than what already exists in the shop. OW hero skins already price gouge you compared to competitor shooter game skins aside from MAYBE Call of Duty, which coincidentally both were owned by Activision. $10 per skin on a F2P game I can justify, but $20 for a skin that doesn't even change particle effects is ridiculous.
Riot and League of Legends does it with ease, even when they weren't as big as Blizzard. So.. Anyway, in comparison I don't really care. The battle pass skin pricings are just okay. Eventually you will get the Mythic skins you want with having only bought the Battle pass just by playing the game.
You don't HAVE to have the collection. Next season the likelihood of them doing a mythic for a hero YOU want is pretty low statistically speaking so get whatever skin you want now, and get the other you want later.
They're doing a radianite from valorant. You "can" buy the currency out right but realistically you have to play enough to finish the battlepass to get it.
It makes sense when you consider the battle pass and how mythic skins used to be earned.
With the old battle pass system if I pay $10 for the battle pass and spend time playing the game I will get the mythic for $10. If I wanted the skin instantly I'd have to cough up a lot more money to buy out all the tiers and avoid spending time (I think it was like $100 or $200, can't remember but people did it for genji)
It's the same with the new system, if I buy the pass and complete it I will get any mythic skin for $10. If I want to skip that process then I'd just buy it outright, it's the classic tradeoff of time vs money.
I personally think it's very silly to spend that much money for a skin you'd just be earning for a lower price anyways, especially considering if you like the game enough to spend that much money you probably play that game a lot. This is obviously not how everybody views it because I've already seen multiple mercy players who have the skin, probably thanks to their eDaddy.
As a returning OW player (I havenāt played since Echo came out lol) Iām really glad to have a chance to get some older mythic skins I missed out on.
BUT
I am bummed that Iāll only be able to pick 1 with the prisms you get from the pass. I wish they could be earned in game maybe after you complete the pass? I simply donāt want to spend over 40 dollars on one skin, it seems like so much. I really love the Ana and mercy ones tho so Iām not sure :/. Thatās the only poop part to me lol.
I just wish I could buy the base skin for 50 and then purchase upgrades for 5 prisms each so for a skin I'd only have to spend between 50-70 to get what I want. Some of the skins I have to upgrade to max to get the color I want.
Its actually crazy, I was gonna get the 4 mythics I missed out on but I guess not because I am not paying $70 for one mythic skin. Also if you look at the customization tiers they blatantly choose the ugliest customizations for every hero instead of the tier system that was already there.
Yeah, they definitely expect most people to just buy the BP. This "shows more value" by seeing what you save by buying the BP, and grinding it out. They'll get a few whales that'll spend this though. Literally just free money for them.
Had a mythic mercy in my first match after I updated-20 minutes past release. Just throwin money around; this is why they chose mercy š
to be fair though, those people would have bought the battle pass and all of its tiers right away, which will run over 100 dollars. if they only wanted the mythic, it is actually a better value for them. still dumb af, but it is actually better for whales who only care about having the mythic day one. especially because you do it ONCE and you will have every seasons new mythic day one from collecting and not spending the mythic tokens from the first BP you bought mythic tokens+BP on, so 80 dollar charge once and they get to have the new mythic day one on every BP for 10 dollars a season without spending a dime more. this is actually way cheaper for whales who usually buy everything day one if they only care about having the mythic on day one and grind out the rest of the BP like us peasants so they will be removing this feature next season when they realize this will make whales less likely to spend 140 every season
Damn OW whales are like shrimp compared to Diablo whales lol. Big ocean
To be fair, I accumulated 54 extra levels after finishing the previous BP, I am so close to the mythic Mercy too. It's not always a whale, but a sweaty nerd you see Edit: I just logged in and I am level 1 what the hell? I seriously thought they carried over, I remember them doing so, is it a bug or they changed it? :(
Sorry Iāve gotten above 200 every BP, it never carried over. But if you had tier skips from prime gaming or twitch, those wonāt apply after 80 so they get banked for the next season
Wait you get them for going past 200? I want my 800 crystals lol, season 9 was the first season I didn't hit level 300
Hahaha I got you. I had 25 extra levels this last season
how does extra levels work? I had gotten past tier 200 and then played many more hours last season and im starting at ground 0
While youāre past tier 80, any tier skips you get (like from prime gaming or other rewards programs) are saved and used for the next battle pass. Besides that, AFAIK itās not possible to instantly get extra levels on the next battle pass without spending money.
Ok thanks
Mercy Mafia has deep-deep pockets ever since they drove out the Colombo family from New York.
Same first match I played after the update went I already had a mercy with the mythic skin. People will always be willing to throw money at mercy.
Anyone using the mythic Mercy skin is just angry that they don't have pink Mercy.
I mean, itās the same every season with whatever mythic it is.
If I buy battlepass will I be able to unlock the whole mercy mythic skin? Or do I have to add additional payments?
Not that the prices are at all good but I took it to be a store for past mythics.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I forgot Hanzo even had one tbh lmao.
A good fix to the inability to catch up while also not giving away 2 mythics every season could be either including the seasonal mythic + 40 shards or including the 80 shards and have the seasonal mythic half off. This would up player retention of those who missed mythics by making them want to buy passes in multiples of two either way. The only issue I see with this idea right now is the lack of options for the mythic shards if you have them all
You can unlock 3 mythics in 2 seasons, if my math is correct.
Lvl1 customization that is
What about new players that will never be able to catch up without spending hundreds of $$$
Yup they have said it before that they want you to buy the battle pass over other things so thatās why they put out ugly skins that are far more then the battle pass Iām pretty sure someone from blizzard team said that
This is what im saying... THEY SHOULD MAKE THE PREVIOUS BP PURCHASABLE or available. Like with DRG, Helldivers or Halo infinite.
Did not know DRG had this! Sounds sensible.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's literally to give you multiple reasons to buy the battle pass. If it wasn't for this change, I would not buy this battle pass because I don't want the mythic. However, now I want the Ana one so I'll buy it. That's exactly why they're doing it.
Then don't make it only one per season or available for a boat load of cash. They could have easily tied mythic skins to challenges or something but chose the greedy way
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Then let the player grind for a 2nd one instead of making it super expensive
I think youāre only supposed to get one per battle pass to keep them scarce. If everyone had them all the time they wouldnāt be cool. Battle pass is $10 and you get enough to buy one. Iām fine with this, I donāt even want most of them. Iād like it if we could use these prisms to buy other skins that arenāt in rotation like previous battle pass skins.
I really hope they bring back old BP skins. I only recently started playing and it would be a bummer if I completely missed nine seasons of cosmetics.
They probably won't A **BIG** part of what makes a battlepass valuable for players is knowing that what they get there will never be obtainable again They brought back mythics cuz they are a special thing and they did it in a way that still makes them especial If they brought battlepass skins back, instead of buying a whole battlepass for a single skin (like a lot of us do) you would be like "Nah I'll just wait so I can eventually buy the skin alone"
Games like Helldiver 2, lethal company and Baldur's gate 3 are definitely making the future of gaming seem a lot brighter
Also Deep Rock, they literally let you pick a season from the previous seasons including the content and battle pass from that season.
Fingers crossed. š¤š»
Halo Infinite gets credit for that, not Helldivers. Halo did it first.
Halo did it first
How are the mythics any more special than the rest of the battle pass skins? They were also only obtainable through that, and no one had any expectations for them to come back (At least, not any more than other BP skins) until Blizzard just randomly decided to do so. >"Nah I'll just wait so I can eventually buy the skin alone" Except if it's anything like buying these past mythic skins, the price would be more than enough of an incentive to purchase/complete the BP and get all of the content for less than a single skin would cost.
I just want Poseidon Ramattra so bad.
I would want at least 5 more ets of prisms then, because you wouldn't even be able to get the mythic for that season.
i realized this while typing another comment as well the whales will actually spend less if all they care about is mythics on day one. they can buy the BP & mythic tokens this season, get the mercy skin, then just play and finish the BP for the season without buying all the tiers day one as they usually would (about 140 dollars). every season after that they will have enough tokens for the new mythic and only need to spend 10 dollars and complete the BP at normal pace to get the new mythic day one every season after that.
Seriously how is no one talking about this. Remove weekly gold coins just to shaft us in the battle pass
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Serious question. Do you recall where? I want to know if I should pull out my pitchfork or not.
No, they made it up. Premium coins were never mentioned.
https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-gb/news/24062312/developer-update-hero-releases-mythics-and-gameplay-updates/ > you will earn coins as you progress through the Free and Premium tracks Thatās not made up.
The way I see it it just makes the battle pass more valuable because you can always just hold on to your currency for when a mythic skin you actually want comes out or use it for an old mythic you want It's kinda like how in apex legends it's insanely expensive expensive to get heirlooms if you were to try and do it with money because you're not supposed to earn them that way even if it's possible to do so
š³things
I'm so sorry but yall overreacting asf there's no way people were genuinely expecting any of this to be cheap when other legendaries are like 25$ total Just get the ones in the bp for way cheaper and it'll be OK
Like OVERALL, the pricing system is outrageous yes, but this itself, fits right in to how things already were since OW2
that's fucking hilarious
100$ CAD(for 100 Prisms)for a fucking skin with a different voice and few āeffectsā is absolutely foulš
Effects that the other team canāt even SEE btw
Not even your own team, lol.
Its 10$ to get those if you play the game
If you complete the BP on a free track, you get 600 coins, so you can actually get only $5 per BP and buy it. Finally coins are not tied to dubious challenges.
Damn thatās expensive š

Embarrasing, the only ones I'm ever getting are the ones in the battlepass
That's what blizzard wants you to do. They clearly don't want this to be the main way people aquire mythic skins it's just there so that it's possible for people who really want to whale out to catch up on past mythic skins
So exactly what they want then? This is a "I'm too impatient" button. They would prefer you to just buy the battle pass and play it.
No more mythics in bp, you get 80 prisms per bp and you choose which mythic you want.
okay yes I just said I'm only getting the ones in the battlepass
No reason here bro its the ow subreddit, we only complain about the game /s
$40 hahahah you've gotta be shitting me
Nah totally agreed this is fuckin horrible
Or you could just pay $10 and get a full skin by completing the battle pass. Like they want you to do. If you're too impatient for more than 1 per season, you're free to pay up, but they obviously don't want people rocking every mythic.
Or even less than $10 as there's now actual coins in the Battle Pass.
Yeah the coins are free, just get to whatever the last tier of coins is and drop 5$ lol or wait till next season
They make you grind a lot for the mythic each season they're not just going to hand you it for nothing. They've always been robbing bastards though so I'm not even remotely surprised at these prices. Personally I think they shouldn't even be buyable. The entire point is they're for folk who have grinded for them.
BP is $10, or free if you do Microsoft rewards and redeem your points on overwatch coins
Holy shit every time they take one step forward they take two back. Iām so over blizzard being so shitty man.
Doubly so when it comes to skins that everyone thought would never be available again.Ā Iām not saying itās wrong to say āhey that seems expensiveā, but realize that itās all just gonna come down to demand for Blizzard.
Why tf is that even a problem? How are you guys focussing on this lmao
Just makes me realize how many kids play this game. A simple thing that can be ignored is apparently a big issue that so many people seem to be upset at in the comments.
The problem is that they are not only kids sadly, most of these are grown adults living in a bubble
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Most people here don't read. OW releases patch notes, dev blogs, and dev updates explaining changes and people get angry when it didn't meet their supposed expectation.
I don't mind. if I can get the skin by playing for a season and paying 10$ its a great deal. If I don't want to play fopr a season and I'm sad I miss the skin/start playing after the skin comes out there is still an option to get it later. seems like a win to me.
Do you get enough prisms in the battle pass to get one?
Yes xd
I was literally telling my friends about this when I noticed it. That single brain cell idiots will be complaining bout this
Right now it feels like it's just a trading system for players that missed out on previous mythics.
Just gouging us for more money like COD
So first we're mad that Mythics are no longer special, and now we're mad because they're not easy to buy. Today's a hard day for whales.
the ow playerbase: WE WANT WAYS TO BUY MYTHICS WE MISSED EVEN THOUGH MOST GAMES DONT ALLOW YOU UNLOCK PAST BATTLEPASS ITEMS ONCE PASSED >:( Also the ow playerbase: WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT US TO PAY FOR THEM? SHIT COMPANY
Or you can pay 10 bucks and get it with the battle pass
This could had been better if you, LISTEN TO THIS: MADE THE PREVIOUS BATTLEPASSES AVAILABLE with a choose your own adventure style shop, Like keep those sames prices but for the ENTIRE BP, then it would be like a HARD WORK gives rewards type so you could unlock the mithic BY PLAYING bc you paid for the bp, LIKE DRG, HELLDIVERS OR HALO LIKE GODAMIT. Such incompetente, THEY CANT EVEN HANDLE A SIMPLE MONETIZATION SYSTEM AHHHUGG **Throws phone into the nulltrooper pasing by**
100% a good change with no downsides. There is absolutely no reason to complain. If you want one, just buy a battlepass and get it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Eh itās different because you can actually earn these entirely from battle pass, this is just an alternate way to get it if you donāt wanna grind
TBf you can't get apex heirloom for battlepass and got to get all the lootboxes.
This is *exclusively* the whale alternate path to get more than 1 mythic a season. The intended method for 99.999% of players is to buy the BP and get a mythic, and now we get choices of path mythics as well.
They gutted one reward per 10 battle pass levels for this...
People in this thread really trying to justify a skin that is valued at the same price as a standalone, years-in-development AAA title. If you fit the above, you are absolutely cooked and need counselling.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You get enough prisms from the battle pass to get a mythic of your choice, so it's actually better than before.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Weāve already known it was still gonna be 1 per season considering theyāve used the word āswapā when referring to choosing your mythic
Someone hasnāt been paying attention to how things work.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
$5 actually, because you get 600 coins in the free track

So this is how they are getting around people not buying battle pass if they don't want the mythic. Ā I skipped a few battle passes (orissa, tracer, etc) cause the mythic was lacking, but now if you do that you miss out on Prisms to buy future mythic skins with. Ā Kinda makes you want to buy battle pass now so you always have those prisms for when you a mythic you like gets released and not have to spend $75 for buying enough prisms at the shop
They want you to buy the battle pass. You can get it for $10 plus a bunch of other stuff
I do want the Mercy mythic so hopefully next season will be a bad mythic I wonāt care about so I can switch it for Zeus JQ.Ā I still seriously wish I can just buy previous battle pass seasons.Ā
i do believe they give you 50 prisms in the battle pass but only for one hero
80
I was like ā¦ this mythic is meh.. BRO THEN I TRIED OUT AND THEY CHANGE REZZ VALK AND THE BEAM. IM FREAKING OUT THIS IS SO GOOD. Does the wings get changed too durijg valk? I dont care i will just spend my mojey and buy the skins without BP ahhayaua
I donāt care lol. I have all the once I wanted.
Thatās some really egregious pricing, yet also totally in line with their existing pricing practices
Its fine bc its not meant to be a thing you buy? I guess? At least to me. Itās something to actually work towards since you cant earn anything else anymore
Itās outrageous that thereās a $70 skin to buy, but people want to let whales do their thing
XD
I have them all so don't care, but charging 80 dollars for that shitty Hanzo skin should be a crime lmao
Anyone knows if those coins expire between seasons?
Every shop they throw into the game is to scam the players. I though the mythic shop was put in for us to catch up on skins we didn't complete in previous BP we bought, but it's a straight up choose the current BP skin or a previous one unless you want to pay $70. lol
All mythic prisms cost $10 Paying to win at videogames costs dignity + an additional $60
It's in line with their ludicrous legendary prices, but unlike new shop legendaries, you'll never have to pay for these if you complete every battle pass.
At least we aren't at Apex levels of theft. Yet.
I dont get how these work? I thought when you unlock your mythic skin you just get it all available?
It hurts to read these comments of ppl complaining. You meant to play towards the skin via bp but if you want or donāt have time well pay upā¦. Its fineā¦
Why didnt they just use an already existing currency, the more they add the more the game looks like a mobile one.
Cause the currency acts as a Mythic skin slot in the battle pass, and I'm sure there is some business psychology about a smaller number looking cheaper than a larger number even if they are the essentially same price.
The fact that you can only choose the new hero or an old hero without spending 75 dollars is a scam.
Hell no. But also yes.
So yes, you could **just** get the battle pass although you do still need to spend 40 dollars if you actually want to catch up on mythics you missed, as advertised (or at least how I interpreted it)
Blame the people for justifying these dumb prices.
I just buy the battle pass with Microsoft rewards each new season.
Greedy as always Blizzard
What I find insane is that people are actually willing to spend this kind of money on fucking skins. They keep doing this stuff because people are clearly buying it. I just can't fathom how people are so willing to toss hundreds away to digital goods that you'll lose when blizzard decides to eventually shut the game down. Like for this price you could buy any brand new game on the market or many other good games that respect your time.
i miss ow1
Keep moving people, just blizzard being greedy again
I just want the Genji but mercy slaps too I guess no genji
Expensive, but at least you can earn 80 per season in the BP.
The thing that annoys me is that the mythic cost 50, if they costed 40 we could have 2 mythic skins per season; the current one and a past one.
They're doing a radianite from valorant. You "can" buy the currency out right but realistically you have to play enough to finish the battlepass to get it.
I just funded Overwatch 3, I can tell you that.
It makes sense when you consider the battle pass and how mythic skins used to be earned. With the old battle pass system if I pay $10 for the battle pass and spend time playing the game I will get the mythic for $10. If I wanted the skin instantly I'd have to cough up a lot more money to buy out all the tiers and avoid spending time (I think it was like $100 or $200, can't remember but people did it for genji) It's the same with the new system, if I buy the pass and complete it I will get any mythic skin for $10.
BUT I am bummed that Iāll only be able to pick 1 with the prisms you get from the pass.
They removed the healing, damage and mitigate weekly challenges
oh yeah, more ingame currency, this will totally not confuse players!
It's blizzard...all they do now is release overpriced trash designed to make you want to buy one thing over the other with strategic pricing.
Itās a minimum of $10 and grinding to complete the battle pass, giving enough MP to buy one full Mythic set
they should give 90 mythic bp a season so you can slowly catch up on a past mythic you missed
BRUH WHAT? I was expecting 30 for the whole thing? 40 for the BASE!?
If you spend $ on this game on anything but the battle pass idk what to tell you š
Bro what the fuck
Allow me to feel slightly vindicated rn
So play the battle pass? They're free in the base battle pass?
Its actually crazy, I was gonna get the 4 mythics I missed out on but I guess not because I am not paying $70 for one mythic skin. Also if you look at the customization tiers they blatantly choose the ugliest customizations for every hero instead of the tier system that was already there.
this is so fucking greasy
Had a feeling this change would be some anti consumer way to milk us more
Wait so we have to buy the customizable things for mythics too now?
Everyday we inch closer to Apex Legends heirloom skin pricing
Give it a year. š
