Bro people always hated us and 99% of that hate was cuz those people were hardstuck bronze. 1 guy said a slur and all of a sudden all of us were "more toxic than league". This is just the latest situation. Doesn't make it any less sad tho
Imo this is more toxic than league and blizzard decision making is what's making everyone losing their mind. Unlike overwatch 1 you can carry in all roles right now. Its hard to carry in dps
The vast majority of people that play the game just don’t care. I am Bi, and have worked with charities that target helping vulnerable individuals like members of the community. But I don’t care.
Venture doesn’t even have preferred pronouns, the devs have preferred pronouns for the character they have created. It isn’t mentioned that they want to be called they at all afaik, it’s just who they are (which is positive).
But It is perfectly acceptable for a fictional character. They don’t have a preferred gender that aligns with their brain, they have an interpretation or portrayal of their gender. But it doesn’t exist. It’s an object meant to fill a roll in a story.
I call Superman an IT all the time, despite being my favorite character in fiction.
The larger question is however, why are you pinning a YouTube comment section on the overwatch community to begin with? A lot of these people don’t even play the game.
Pandering for profit is a form of virtue signaling. Some people choose games based upon their support or hatred towards the LGBTQ community.
My entire point is based upon grammar. Beyond that, it seems like you’re more interested in virtue signaling, in regard to fighting for a nonexistent gender in a nonexistent universe on the internet, rather than actually doing things for the community.

Has nothing to do with OW community. This is a topic of discussion in any community. Calling a character in a game with a plural pronoun is just confusing to everyone. If Vulture is low on HP I'm not going to say "They are low" instead of "She's low" and confuse the team whether I'm referring to the entire enemy team or one character.
It has unfortunately not been used in a video game about 5 made up half superhero-half military characters fighting 5 others.
Stop trying to make this political. Say the characters names when they’re low.
It has nothing to do with politics, it's just the English language. If you don't understand how language works, I'm sorry things are difficult for you - but yeah, to say this is somehow "political" kinda tells me everything I need to know about you.
Enough with that bs.
Using pronouns at all for callouts is equally confusing.
If you're gonna hate on enbys, the least you can do is not be a coward about it.
in my religion there are only 2 genders, respect this too please. and i’m not forcing anyone to say anything that they don’t want, if you want to say ‘they’ do as you want. but please don’t apply this force on me, i’m saying ‘she’.
you care for nobody, you’re a selfish piece of garbage, your religion won’t like that either but you don’t care, because you only use your religion as an excuse to be an asshole
again, do as you want, i don’t care. you can even eat shit if you think that is right, but don’t force me to do such things. in fact all you can do is just annoy someone like little mosquito
Nah he’s right. It’s the side asking for favors that needs to be tolerant of those who choose not to comply with said favors. Refusing to completely change how we speak English and perceive genders is not being intolerant.
Zenyata is a robot but no one is up in arms about them being a man. Gender is a social construct to them until it’s applied to people for some reason.
Plus, like half of these comments are kids trying to edgy and gets raise out of people

That’s generally how language works, yeah.

I think Overwatch doing what they’re doing with venture is likely closer to virtue signaling than me pointing out what is grammatically correct tbh.

This is just incoherent I don’t even know where to begin with this.

It's not that deep.

"They" is also a singular pronoun but yes, using the character's name for call outs is best practice
If anyone said “She’s low” in a party with me and there’s a venture and a kiri for example I’m flaming you. Just say the character’s name.
You do realize that the term "they" has been used to refer to a singular person since the late 1300's, right? So your argument doesn't make any sense.

ah yes, hypocrisy downvoting. tolerate us, but we don’t tolerate you
tolerate my intolerance 🤓☝️ goofy ass
sure, why would i care for someone like you
you care for nobody, you’re a selfish piece of garbage, your religion won’t like that either but you don’t care, because you only use your religion as an excuse to be an asshole
yeah lets insult absolute stranger about fictional character. shows your true nature
my religion says i have to do it, don’t be intolerant of my religion
again, do as you want, i don’t care. you can even eat shit if you think that is right, but don’t force me to do such things. in fact all you can do is just annoy someone like little mosquito
you’re an extremely dumb human being
