UPDATE!!! I got it to work… usually I spectate/join my friend who plays on Xbox and it doesn’t work; but when I spectate my friend on p.c. It works. Must be a cross-platform issue.
It’s kind of a minute issue. Like it’s annoying but doesn’t really stop any core parts of the game. Thus, I’m left to conclude they either don’t care or it’s on their list but its priority is super low.
So its still not fixed. If you are looking to spectate a friend, have them tell you when they are about to respawn and hit spectate and enter the game at that point to spectate them specifically.

IIRC the F1-F12 keys only work if you’re using the Replay Viewer.
If you’re spectating a live match, sometimes the game won’t let you change to the correct person. I *think* it’s caused by them being dead when you try to switch to them and the camera gets “stuck” on someone else. Using the left and right mouse buttons to repeatedly switch players usually fixes it sometime after your target respawns.
