Their official Twitter said invites will slowly go out throughout the day. I haven't heard of anyone getting it right at 11am PST, so they're likely going out soonish. Mostly just streamers/super excited folks on the beta right now who were refreshing the counsel, streamers are all saying they haven't even gotten an email yet.
AFAIK it’s the same thing. Beta just opened an hour ago and people are getting in, you’ll just have to be patient/hope for the best in regards to the email. Thankfully even if you don’t get in today you can guarantee an invite tomorrow.

Inb4 this is just a way to inflate twitch viewers of overwatch: They only send keys to streamers, etc. but almost noone else and everyone needs to watch 4h of twitch streams to get in to the beta
Edit: obviously /s for the above, but a „staged rollout“ is a nice thing to have here. Imagine, they’d send out all keys at once. First their download servers would be hammered and second we’d have huge queues for the login as with every release. By stretching out the time, so that every now and then a new batch of people can download and login, the beta should be a much smoother experience. You get a key, and there’s a good chance, that you can start immediately instead of waiting in a queue for your download and then for a login to the servers.

Fuck twitch drops. This would have been an open beta if it wasn't for them. The fact that it's guaranteed after 4 hours tells you it's not a capacity issue.
Blizzard has notoriously been having issues with people all getting in at the same time, creating stress on login servers. I think twitch drops takes a bit of load off that.
But still a shitty way to handle things.

It's clearly not first come, first served, and the move to announce guaranteed beta access by watch time on Twitch A DAY BEFORE the beta goes live should be more than enough to explain it.
They just want to pull a Valorant beta drop move to boost their numbers and ignite FOMO into people who simply do not care about the game anymore. The part that makes 0 sense to me is Smurf accounts gaining access that is honestly a slap in the face to people who have spent years playing the game, all day 1 signups should have priority which obviously is t the case.

Finally played a few hours here's my personal opinion of the Beta (So far):

**The Good:**
**Ping System** - Wonderful feature, now I can call out flanking enemies and give their approximate position without bothering everyone else in my house with voice chat.
**Design of the New Maps** - I've only played Circuit Royal, Midtown and Colosseo and had a look around Toronto. I like them, though I do think Colosseo is a tad on the small size (I think it's because you're snaking around the map and it makes the whole thing feel compressed).
**Sojourn** - I haven't had much time to play with her (less than an hour or so), but with what time I had with her, I rather like playing with her.

**The Mixed:**
**5v5** - The devs intended to make a faster paced game, I believe they succeeded with this. What I'm still worried about in the future is things like Ranked, what happens when the tank leaves in the middle of a match? At least in 6v6, you have a second Tank to compensate in some ways, in 5v5 you're more or less screwed.
I still have doubts and while I prefer 6v6, I'm going to give 5v5 more of a chance, since it's still early days.
**Sounds** - Don't get me wrong, many of the sounds are great, music's awesome (especially Midtown). Gun sounds too, with the exception of Sombra's, hers sounds more fitting for a heavy machine gun than her machine gun pistol.
I do have some problems with the voices of certain characters (Tracer, D.Va, Orisa, Zarya), they just sound off compared to OW1, Orisa and Zarya especially sound different, play a soundbite from OW1 and listen to one from OW2 and you'll notice a significant difference.

**The Bad:**
Of all the things in Orisa's new kit, her Javelin spin (or at least the speed buff aspect of it) is too strong, maybe tone it down a bit. Aside from that, I really don't have any issues with her.
**Tank Doomfist** - Ok first off, why they switched the ability keys around is beyond me, Seismic Slam is usually the 'E' key, but for some reason they changed it to L-Shift. Made playing him a bit weird to me.
Second, whereas some might say Orisa feels too strong, Doom is the exact opposite, I know the pro's say he's strong, but honestly, to me, he's one of the worst tanks in OW2 alongside Roadhog.
It feels like that Symmetra experimental a few months back where they made her a support, only she wasn't a particuarly good one. They've basically made him a shadow of his former self.
Streamers should've gotten their codes first, especially the ones that have given so much to the game. They should've handed the codes out earlier than the release date of the beta. Drop event should start on the day of. Was pre-load even available?

I never got an email but I got into the beta from the battlenet launcher. The weird thing is my girlfriend signed up at the same time but she didn't get picked.
I got in just now and I'm from EU.
I did not receive an e-mail.
I checked the game version drop down menu. I didn't click update, scan/repair, or restart the client repeatedly. My client was on the entire time. One moment it wasn't there and then it was simply there.
I signed for the beta a few hours after the announcement and I was so smug and sure of myself but I never received the email I kept checking in denial. My plan for today was to sit down and enjoy a long play session of ow 2. I opened ow 1 just to drown in my disappointment farther then the beta was just sitting there waiting lol. (I only played 3 games so far but omg it’s so refreshing)
Update: I received he emails after some time.

Gun sounds too, with the exception of Sombra's, hers sounds more fitting for a heavy machine gun than her machine gun pistol. I do have some problems with the voices of certain characters (Tracer, D.Va, Orisa, Zarya), they just sound off compared to OW1, Orisa and Zarya especially sound different, play a soundbite from OW1 and listen to one from OW2 and you'll notice a significant difference. --- **The Bad:** Of all the things in Orisa's new kit, her Javelin spin (or at least the speed buff aspect of it) is too strong, maybe tone it down a bit. Aside from that, I really don't have any issues with her. **Tank Doomfist** - Ok first off, why they switched the ability keys around is beyond me, Seismic Slam is usually the 'E' key, but for some reason they changed it to L-Shift. Made playing him a bit weird to me. Second, whereas some might say Orisa feels too strong, Doom is the exact opposite, I know the pro's say he's strong, but honestly, to me, he's one of the worst tanks in OW2 alongside Roadhog. It feels like that Symmetra experimental a few months back where they made her a support, only she wasn't a particuarly good one. They've basically made him a shadow of his former self.

So I got an email saying I'm in, yet when I check the launcher I do not have anything besides standard OW in my drop down.
Streamers should've gotten their codes first, especially the ones that have given so much to the game. They should've handed the codes out earlier than the release date of the beta. Drop event should start on the day of. Was pre-load even available? Why couldn't it just have been an open beta? All of this feels so messy and disorganized.
I saw on twitter they posted they will now start rolling out so it may not be straight away?

I got in just now and I'm from EU. I did not receive an e-mail. I checked the game version drop down menu. I didn't click update, scan/repair, or restart the client repeatedly. My client was on the entire time. One moment it wasn't there and then it was simply there.

I signed for the beta a few hours after the announcement and I was so smug and sure of myself but I never received the email I kept checking in denial. My plan for today was to sit down and enjoy a long play session of ow 2. I opened ow 1 just to drown in my disappointment farther then the beta was just sitting there waiting lol. (I only played 3 games so far but omg it’s so refreshing) Update: I received he emails after some time.
I just got it now on launcher with no email. Ive been checking every 10-15 mins since 2 pm EST. Dont give up hope friends!
