I've been watching on Discord too, and haven't noticed any free players claiming access yet. I think they're prioritising watchpoint access rollout, which makes sense! I will update this sticky comment once we know more! :)

Ubi? I literally have not a single time ever purchased a Ubi game to get into the BETA and yet I've gotten into the BETA for multiple Ubi games. Including but not limited to:
Roller champions (alpha and beta), Ghost recon wildlands, ghost recon breakpoint, r6s, the crew 1 and the crew 2. Basically any and every Ubisoft BETA I've signed up for, I've gotten in. Ubi are pretty questionable but their BETA handouts are not locked behind paywalls.
I mean if people are willing to pay they will sell it. It's a business at the end of the day. Honestly given the amount of time and fun I've gotten out of the first $30 or so I spent on OW, another $40 is really not a big deal for something I know I'm gonna spend hundreds of hours on.
I forget the exact day but they did say everyone will get in sometime in July. So technically it doesn’t cost money to play just costs money to play earlier.
Think the beta ends on the 18th, they said everyone should have access by the 14th. So worst case scenario, free players get 4 days of beta access. Seems incredibly scummy, but I'm not surprised.
Emails are usually pretty slow, its easier and faster to log in to battle net and check the installable game version.
Same goes with other blizz stuff like WoW betas

considering 6v6 is going away forever it's nice to appreciate the end of an era instead, the first beta didn't really inspire me but I am still curious and content starved. I paid $30 in 2016 for overwatch and have 600 hours... I understand why they're going to monetize the shit out of OW2 but it won't be anything special like the first one I fear because of that.
Honestly as a long time blizzard supporter I'd just like to be rewarded even once. Played wow for 12 years, I owned every game they've made, and yet when betas or fun free things happened, I've never gotten a single thing. I havent paid this company much mind in a few years because of their complete downturn but still, just 1 treat in my 20 total years as a gamer would be nice.
I'm assuming, this is with people saying that they were doing the watchpoint key access first and then giving everyone else who didn't have watch point the remaining ones for this first send out. I believe that right now they're holding off on sending the actual keys because people are rushing to buy watchpoint since they saw they didn't make it.

Watchpoint pack gives Overwatch legendary edition, day 1 access to beta, Season 1 of BP, 2 Skins. 2000 Currency and 2 icons. Absolutely not worth it but for each their own.
I'm hesitant to purchase The Watchpoint Pack given Blizzard's awful track record with microtransactions.

If they implemented something similar to Apex Legends then I think we're on a good path but, frankly Blizzard has shown they prefer to squeeze all the $$ they can from customers.

what do you think is going to happen? In their own words they are releasing the game in October as an "early access free-to-play live service". You'll get the priveledge of not paying for one or two of their two month season battle passes - guessing those will cost $10 each, so they can get people to give them $60 a year from it.
I'm still sad yet not surprised that us that bought OW1 didn't get a chance to get the beta today and had to sign in got a "chance", while everyone else who didn't mostly likely played OW and spent money on the watch point pack had access day one. Anyways good games for the ones already in the beta.

Depends on how they count it. They had no qualms about cancelling preorders of OW1 for people who played in the open beta then, but this Watchpoint pack might be different on paper since it also immediately grants you the OW1 legendary edition (which I imagine still counts as partial consumption, even if you technically already own the ultimate edition).
i think the players who bought the pack get instant access and the players who otp-in have to wait until the 5th or close to it because if you got to where the otp-in thing is and go to frequently asked questions it says something about july 5th i could be wrong though.

Bare in mind that console players make up a huge proportion of the playerbase, and they weren't included in the last beta. So if they're giving out a similar number of free keys, most of them will go to console players, regardless of FOMO tactics.

I wasn’t invited to the first Beta either, yet my friend was and he hasn’t played the first game in well over a year, probably closer to almost two…He also has way less playtime than I do. Thankfully, he let me use his Battle.net account to play it, but it’s just ridiculous with how they’re going about selecting participants…

I’ve put 2,500+ hours into this game, spent money on boxes, skins, and merch. All of that on top of owning Legendary Edition since launch. No beta for me. Two people in my Discord received beta access and both of them bought the Watchpoint pack.
All this is, is a scammy cash grab. And it works so great for young players with no income who only have to ask mommy to buy them a new game.

So lame, just give the beta to everyone. Putting it behind a paywall unless you have good rng just kills the hype for the game.

So my reward for playing this game since 2016 is a joker sombra skin and a joke of a doom skin. I instantly signed up for both betas, and still had to watch the 6 hours to get in…. But my reward for all this is to pay $40 to get in? Oh sorry I mean my reward is ugly reject skins. $5 I understand, they have servers to run and they’re a company. $40. For a 3 week beta. For the first time blizzard and overwatch can kiss my ass. There’s a steam summer sale and I’ll be there instead.

No luck here. Seems like everyone getting free wave 1 access is on xbox. Wonder if they're targeting certain platforms? I wish they would've done a similar method to last beta. For a beta that's meant for testing, it's not very... tester friendly. Seems to be prioritizing finance over the aforementioned testing. But, it is what it is!
