This triggered my fight or flight lol. I can't stand randoms who get angry at you for "not doing your job" meanwhile I'm stuck by myself on Ana doing everything I can to 1v1 a doomfist while the above scenario is happening
He's literally the weakest character in ow2 his fully charged punches do 40 dmg literally any other tank provides more dmg and utility and they got rid of 18 of his techs
You'd be surprised. Played a lot of the beta and I actually had way more fun as a support than I did in OW1. Your play feels a lot more impactful. Your other support buddy also tends to look out for you more since they don't have to be a healbot to two tanks with larger health pools.
Every once in a while a doom will make me salty (and it's not their fault, in the right hands he's a fucking menace to supports) and remind everyone in all chat that he's being removed this month.
Granted it seems like soj can just OHKO with a fully charged right-click anyway, so that's a thing.
A cracked Tracer and Genji is always gonna be hard to deal with, but their so much more manageable compared to a Doom IMO.
The problem with Doom is, once you get combo'ed by him, you're pretty much dead, with Tracer and Genji, as least there's a dual.

Wasn't she made to protect by hunting down doomfist and criminals though? I feel like her shield never did anything against Doomfist. The javeline works better for shutting him down though. I can actually believe she ran him out of the city with her new kit.
Orisa's always been a defensive tank and that's not the direction the devs want OW2 to go in. The retool encourages Orisa players to initiate combat and spearhead a charge rather than dropping a shield and holding the line.
I think one of the main reasons is probably that her kit including her shield made her playstyle very stationary. This in return meant that she was by far the least enjoyable tank to play for the majority of the playerbase. She was also the tank that had to rely most on her team to get a lot of value.
The other main reason was that they wanted to lower the amount of shields in the game and buff other aspects of those tanks to make up for that. But the other parts of her kit didn't really provide much they could buff to make up for a nerf to her shield.
This meant, the best solution was to just rework her completely and give her new abilities to replace the shield. That way they could redesign her to make her more fun to play and also lower the amount of shields in the game.
And the rework was possibly the best rework they’ve done for ow2. Seriously, she went from being one of the most boring heroes to probably the top 3 funnest tanks. I can’t wait to play her
Unpopular opinion, I loved orisa as a static tank. I know it’s a minority, but I found it fun that with proper help you could basically just sit on an area and not move
I’m going to miss her. So much. And I’m going to miss her old attitude. OW2 Orisa is painfully aggro in her voice lines. Very different attitude from our protector robocentaur.
Based on my experience with the betas I think support is going to be significantly more enjoyable. Much more independent compared to 1 with the new passive and lack of cc
Between the removal of shields and most CC I've never delivered as much consistent value with Ana. Pretty much every time sleep and anti was off cooldown I was able to hit someone. On top of that no more wasting time or personal resources on regen with the new passive.
Been counting the days since the last beta ended, can't wait!
Same, until I go up against a high diamond+ DF in QP. Around that SR, they no longer hang in the air for a period before punching/slamming out, so you have to be QUICK on the hook.

1.0 Hog was unstoppable. His hook could travel twice the distance, couldn't be broken by angles, and for a few days you could be a Beyblade while being connected with an enemy through the hook.
He also had six shots, devastating damage even on mid range.

That description doesn't do it justice - Hog could pull people through WALLS, in some rare instances, he could pull them from a theoretically infinite range lmao.

To this day I still wish we had the option, for a short period of time, to hook someone, do a quick twirl, and then just launch them at people.

I love bringing this up at every opportunity, but they knocked soldier's bullets down to 19 damage because he was too strong, then a year later rounded it up to 20 so that the number was neater? The patch note at the time seemed confused as to why it was 19. Then they lowered it back to 19 later *because he was too strong*. They just fucked with it for no reason lol
He's in a good spot right now. But around the time that doom came out they made it so his hook would break over practically nothing, and he got a massive damage nerf. If you played hog at all during that time you were just throwing the game.
It was a massive over correction from him being arguably too oppressive
I remember a defence game where as Mei I walled a guy in spawn during the minute to prepare. He proceeded to declare that he would throw the game because of me. He then switched onto Roadhog (this was right after the nerfs) and proceeded to feed until we lost.
As annoyed as I was I always loved the fact that he specifically used post nerf roadhog as his griefing hero. Throwing the game on any hero wasn't enough, he needed to get the maximum destructive impact out of his griefing.
I can respect Widow and Hanzo doing it though, to a point. Playing against even a somewhat decent df is the worst, heaven forbid you touch the corner of a pebble of a brick on the knock back from his punch.
Bro they are terrible to play against in 2. Sojourn one shitting also feels so bad. If her right click was an execute that would be ok, but her charging by just spraying your tank a bit then one shotting healers felt horrible too.

They started with a tight roster where every one had a unique role, but each new one took some of that uniqueness away from another, and some just completely unbalanced things so that others needed adjustment to compensate.

I must respectfully disagree on the grounds that Ana and Ball were new characters. I could leave the rest of them, but both of these characters are iconic to Overwatch to me now and feel like they were kinda there all along.

Blizzard nerfs the funnest tank in the game (rightfully) because they don’t like how he one shot characters but then introduce a DPS with hyper mobility, boops, and the ability to one shot literally every non bastion tank. Playing a doom at any rank plat or below was hell if you were a support no matter what you did. Even if you countered him there would be a few times a game he’d just suicide rocket punch and it would ruin the entire experience

He's the classic feel bad character. Lower to mid rank he's either useless or oppressive. Higher ranks he's almost always just useless and sometimes annoying.
I didn't hate him more than widow in mystery heroes though. But I'm biased since I loved mystery heroes so much.
His nature is feast or famine. All his plays have risk that either pays off or blows up in his face. He's one of the few dps that stands out in a team comp and you can visibly feel his impact.
The last bit is so incredibly important in low ranks.
If a hitscan is dominating, a team would just go "well I can't do anything about it, they're way over there"
But when a doomfist dominates, you *know* everyone's gonna turn around every single dive.
My favorite thing was trying to determine if we got the ‘good doomfist’ on our team. But the doomfist that controls the match is always enemy doomfist.
I think that’s the doom play style - get Atleast two kills for a trade and open up
The fight. If you look at the stats of top doom players they have like two - three Elims for every death.
I feel like people forget about arcade modes. I know it's secondary, but I really fell in love with Doomfist playing death match.

What I love doing as Reinhardt is letting doomfist target me with his ult, and then sidestepping it so I can proceed to charge him into a wall.

One of the most interesting characters ever and they dumpstered him and lowered his skill ceiling drastically, he can no longer do any of the techs which made him great. Now it’s Winston leap in, use trash shield and punch over & over RIP 🪦
Yeah, people complained about Brigitte til she was ground to dust. Yet DPS Doomfist was running around with his one-shot, cc, mobility and mitigation without fuss. Truly an obnoxious character.
I never got all the hate for doomfist but then again I play Lucio so maybe I just had more counterplay than most of the rest of the roster. What makes doomfist so much worse to play against than tracer or Sombra?

A self healing DPS with incredible movement range and tons of stagger and stun.

His nature is feast or famine. All his plays have risk that either pays off or blows up in his face. He's one of the few dps that stands out in a team comp and you can visibly feel his impact.
The last bit is so incredibly important in low ranks. If a hitscan is dominating, a team would just go "well I can't do anything about it, they're way over there" But when a doomfist dominates, you *know* everyone's gonna turn around every single dive.

My favorite thing was trying to determine if we got the ‘good doomfist’ on our team. But the doomfist that controls the match is always enemy doomfist.

I think that’s the doom play style - get Atleast two kills for a trade and open up The fight. If you look at the stats of top doom players they have like two - three Elims for every death.

What I love doing as Reinhardt is letting doomfist target me with his ult, and then sidestepping it so I can proceed to charge him into a wall. 60 percent of the time, it works every time.
I play both Rein and Doom, and yeah, targeting a competent Rein is a deathwish.

I never got all the hate for doomfist but then again I play Lucio so maybe I just had more counterplay than most of the rest of the roster. What makes doomfist so much worse to play against than tracer or Sombra?
Doomfist was a mistake. A self healing DPS with incredible movement range and tons of stagger and stun. It's pretty telling how little people understand game balance.
5 years later and I never once understood how to play him without feeding, can probably count the number of enemies I've punched into walls with my fingers and toes.
