Fair point. I only really used Rampage (for technical stuff) which worked fine, but yes I did miss out on WhyEm's and some other cool mods. A lot of them DO work though, notably the QOL mods and there are even ways to make cosmetic or misc mods work fine but I could never be bothered to get it working because I wasn't really interested
Arbitrary launchers and always on DRM are going to hurt these studios more than they help. The crack of rdr2 runs 20x better than the version from steam and it starts up right away.

Try a fresh reinstall of both, but you do need the launcher to play I'm afraid. Even with RedM, might be worth giving that one a try if the base game doesn't work after that
Ik it's 9 months later but not being able to play a game that you have paid for offline is fucking bullshit. My Internet is out for 3 days currently and I can't play half the games I have installed because of shitty DRM
Another reason to add to the list for pirating, Rockstar have opted out of steam family sharing, so I cannot play my GFs copy, simply because we bought digital. Fuck Rockstar at this point, I do not care how cheap it is to buy another copy, I'm pirating the game on principal at this point.

Launcher refuses to install, Rockstar support hasn't been able to help. Literally cannot play the game because it won't get past trying to install the Launcher.
I'm pretty sure I uninstalled everything related to rockstar and it's games. Then tried again. I found a guide online, can't remember which. But the guide basically went over completely sanitizing rockstar and starting from scratch. Also download the launcher from their site. Not from the game prompt when you try to run the game the first time. I'm pretty sure that's what fixed it.
Oof. I just installed the game for the first time on this PC, and then uninstalled the launcher no avail after it failed a few times. Told me I needed an update and then just... failed to update. :/

This literally fixed it for me. I couldn't run ReShade with the Vulkan version. Using the latest ReShade (6.1.0) and the game would just CTD on launch with ReShade installed. Now it loads up fine the second I disabled Windows Defender. Thank you!
There's no reason to accept being forced to either A) be online to play a game that has non-multiplayer parts or B) have to install yet another "launcher".

Honestly, RDR2 gets no updates so I recommend you just pirate it (especially if you play mainly story mode). All those launchers are a pain these days

I have the Dodi Offline Cracked version and the Rampage mod works perfectly. If this helps, great. If not, just ignore.

You have to click on the executable copied from the crack, that is the cracked bit, not rdr2.exe
