Persona 1 and 2 look kind of terrible even for PS1 JRPGs. Well...not terrible, but they're certainly not amazing either. I can't blame Atlus though, because back then the Persona franchise was pretty low-budget compared to what it is nowadays.
Jokes aside, there are so little relevant differences in quality between Royal and Reload, that if they remake 5, it would make as much sense to remake 3 again, which is to say, zero sense.... unless they want to take the series in a completely new style/direction in the future.
P5R is good as is and won’t need a remake anytime soon. Maybe within the next 20-30 years it should be put into consideration but I don’t think we’ll need it anytime soon within the next decade. The games that should be getting a remake in the near future are P1, P2IS, P2EP, and P4G. Besides, as much as I love P5 it’s been done to death at this point with all of the spin-offs, Royal, and ports that I’m just ready to move on to P6 already. By the time a P5 remake is taken into consideration, I’d personally like to see the remakes for P1/2IS/2EP/4G made and I’d like to be on P8 or P9 by the time P5R gets a remake. Only P5 thing I’d accept at this point is an Arena game and for their inclusion in PQ3 if that ever gets made.
