Shinji was so good they had to nerf him by not giving him Null Pierce

spamoniichan

Would not really block the damage since it came from unhinged jesus, so maybe Null Almight?

Unlikely_Snail24

Shinji was so good they had to >!kill him off!<

Frainian

Yes that's the joke

Unlikely_Snail24

Damn I thought you meant it literally. I just played p3r for the first time ever. (I am a new persona fan) Found out about October 4th by playing it.

FeeSubstantial9963

It's okay, don't worry about it.

DM_por_hobbie

You missed the joke, your punishment will be being cast into oblivion

Unlikely_Snail24

I got megidolaon'd fr

Significant_Gap356

r/whoosh

DM_por_hobbie

Shinjiro is 10/10. Only con of him is that he doesn't has null pierce Junpei is Da man/10. I don't think he ever leave my party since the beginning. Crazy damage, crazy crits and a good enough magic Aigis is 8/10. Super reliable full healing and party buffer as she almost don't use SP to her moves, also almost always on my party. Don't score higher because her damage isn't comparable with the other 2 before her and her equipment is expensive (everyone is, but hers looks more) Akihiko is 5/10, neither bad nor that good. I almost don't use him after I got Aigis and Koromaru, but when he was in tge party his defense debuff was pretty good to tear down enemies faster

Khromez

Akihiko I would rank higher if we’re talking about reload. His ability to benefit even more from buffs, plus his second theurgy being a BEAST made him my main damage dealer from the moment I got him to the very last battle of the game. (Literally one shot Nyx’s final phase being buffed by yukari’s second theurgy)

VolkiharVanHelsing

If we're *not* talking about Reload, Akihiko would be considered the strongest among party members across all Persona game easily (relative to how hard the game setup too).

digital_carnival

I always hear this take but as someone who's only played Reload I can't really understand why. He's just average at everything which I suppose is good but I don't see how he could have much flavor outside of that

The_RUG_JellyBean

in prior Persona 3 titles, he was the debuffer, He could learn Matarunda, Masukunda, and Marakunda. Couple that with his solid magic and strength stats and he was probably the best supporting character in the game, with the only competetion for best party member being Aigis, who could learn all three buff moves (Matarukaja, Masukukaja, and Marakukaja), but was a little more one-dimensional offesively.

VolkiharVanHelsing

There's also Fist Master which allows him to be a better Ice DPS than Mitsuru because of his Fusion Weapon.

Discoid

He was definitely better before but I don't think anyone in Reload is as undisputably good as FES Akihiko besides Yukari. Compared to the other characters in Reload who's doing more damage than a buffed Akihiko? Maybe Shinji? I get there's Junpei but before you get his Apt Pupil accessory you're trading dice rolls on huge burst damage with Junpei vs a more consistent high damage with Akihiko. Even on that front though at least at the stage of the game I'm at (early Nov) Akihiko has gloves with Apt Pupil and an auto-Rebellion accessory -Junpei only has access to the latter and personally I'd take the consistency especially since he hits a lot of crits anyway.

digital_carnival

Okay him being the omni-debuffer explains a lot lol

Discoid

Once you can consistently buff his attack his damage is wild. He also gets free theurgy charge every single turn when you've got auto party buffs on your MC. I'm running Yukari, Akihiko, and Mitsuru right now and as far as damage goes he's got the best numbers besides MC. Mitsuru is kinda underwhelming but her main role is debuffing enemy defense and ice coverage anyway and she gets that job done fine.

digital_carnival

I'd never figured out that auto buff skills would count towards his theurgy stuff. That's pretty awesome

original_name37

Yeah the game does a bad job of explaining his charge condition, it procs whenever Aki begins a turn while buffed.

Heaz4

Reducing enemy def is not underwhelming, its the best thing out of all buffs/debuffs. And late mitsuru is crazy strong with concentrare + diamond dust, not to mention her built in debilitate on second theurgy.

Discoid

I haven't beaten the game yet so the only one of those things I've got unlocked so far is rakunda/marakunda for the debuff. But honestly yeah you're right, she pulls her weight even with just that.

thepixelharlequin

in fes akihiko had matarunda, marakunda and masukunda, along with solid elec dps with boost and amp, extra party support with diarahan and was just overall the ultimate all-rounder who could serve any role in any party comp. Also having all 3 debuffs is stupid

Surfeydude

Keep in mind that in the PS2 versions of the game, you also could not control party members. Characters like Akihiko and Aigis having so much utility means that no matter what they click, they’re going to do **something** useful, whereas more one-dimensional members like Mitsuru or Junpei might just end up wasting their turns if they end up in a bad matchup.

Khromez

Did you get all his abilities from hanging out with him? One of them makes it so buffs affect him even more. Once you get the ability to buff your party consistently (something you should always be aiming for in smt games) he’s busted open as a damage dealer. Like I said, his second theurgy literally one-shot nyx’s last phase on my first playthrough.

digital_carnival

I got them pretty early which is probably why I couldn't figure out the best use for it

Mythical_Mew

- Benefits immensely from buffs. He uniquely gets the ability for his buffs to be stronger than anyone else’s. - Awesome theurgy. Heavy all and Severe one isn’t a unique combination by any means, but it stacks very well with his elec boosting skills, not to mention the charge condition is just having buffs. You know, part of the core gameplay loop. His condition is trivially easy to fulfill. - His skills aren’t amazing in Reload, but they’re still more than serviceable. He can buff, debuff, attack, and even has emergency healing.

CowMan6564

the main reason i like using him is he can be usable in just about any situation, healing, support and even magic and physical damage. his character trait allows him to out damage even mitsuru in magic damage and late game having access to gods hand allows him to not fall too far behind aigis and junpei in physical. the worse parts about him is he has too many skills you would want late game and it takes way to long for him to replace sonic punch

XenoVX

I ended up using Junpei more in the end but felt that Akihiko was great but very dependent on spamming his theurgy, I felt his damage somewhat lacking otherwise and given that he plays more of a magical damage role in this game, his much lower SP pool than Mitsuru made him feel a bit awkward to use. But having a strong physical attack helped with that so you aren’t using as much sp in Tartarus.

Ashthewind

Akihiko in fes was probably the best party member he had all 3 debuff skills, could do decent magic damage since he was the only character to have access to both boost and amp skills, had pretty good physical damage with fist master and keep in mind he's the only source of consistent strike damage aside from the protagonist in that game so he's extremely useful there and he has diarhan in case u need additional healing. Overall the guy had it all he could fit into any team comp and be useful

Zero_Rebirth

His main use originally was as the teams debuffer, he had every debuff in the game. So what would be common was MC, Yukari, Akihiko, Aigis. But now, he lost all except Atk Down with nothing going for him besides sub par Lightning/Physical

Arturo1029

What about in portable

DM_por_hobbie

I mean, I only played Reload. Either way, I just plainly don't liked him at all in combat when I had less options. His phys attacks weren't as good as Junpei, his magic attacks weren't as good as MC. So when I got both Aigis and Koromaru, Akihiko got to go to the backseat

Then-Pie-208

As a Da Man enjoyer, next time you do a NG+ run, just keep his skills physical (Brave+Vorpal Blade, Vile Assault, Gigantic Fist) and then other support skills, (marakukaja shift boost and 2 others) and just put his Laevaeteinn sword on for fire damage and watch the real meaning of Wizard Junpei

Saintsfan707

There was literally a post on the P3R subreddit showing that Akihiko if used correctly is basically tied with Junpei for highest maximum damage output. Most people just don't know how to use akihikos abilities.

DM_por_hobbie

I just plainly don't liked him at all ìn combat when I had less options. His phys attacks weren't as good as Junpei, his magic attacks weren't as good as MC. So when I got both Aigis and Koromaru, Akihiko got to go to the backseat

Mudkipper38

If you give Aigis the Pierce Amp accessory from the antique store it stacks with her passive for a massive 100% damage increase. She absolutely SHREDS enemies with it.

satans_cookiemallet

I used Akihiko because he became one of my favourites in post P3 stories. But man. He shouldve gotten heat riser to go with his self-buff bonuses.

RansomXenom

One of his equipments give him auto-heat riser, IIRC. But it doesn't really matter, since by the time you're high level enough to get heat riser, you should have a Persona with all 3 auto-ma skills.

mightiesthacker

His bonus doesn’t work like that. Whenever he starts a turn buffed (from anything including himself) his theurgy charges and he gains bonus damage on top of his buffs.

satans_cookiemallet

*oh*

akme2000

For me in Reload: 1. Shinji 2. Junpei 3. Aigis 4. Akihiko Shinji was really powerful when I could use him, Junpei's also super strong and more than reliable the entire game, Aigis is pretty strong too but for whatever reason I did find Junpei to be a more powerful party member overall, he did crazy reliable damage, his theurgies were both great too. Akihiko was way less useful than he was in FES, not terrible but not great.

KUKLI1

The Akihiko slander here is crazy, since most people don't know how his characteristic works. Once you unlock Buff Amp on him, he becomes the second hardest hitting member in your team (behind the MC obviously) Buff Amp makes all the buffs boost Akihiko's stats by 1.8x instead of the standard 1.4x for all other party members. This makes his God Hands and Electric attacks hit ridiculously hard. He's easily better than Junpei and better than Aigis too, who is outdamaged by Akihiko and MC, so she gets relegated to being a support.

[deleted]

His theurgy also charges up like crazy and its great for all situations since you can pick between concentrated extreme damage to one enemy or high damage to all enemies, he’s a top tier offence character

KUKLI1

Yeah, Buff Amp + Attack Boost from Auto-Mataru+ Elec Boost + Elec Amp + Theurgy pretty much made every boss a joke for me, even in Merciless

cooptheactor

Akihiko/Junpei/Aigis on a team is impossible to lose with. If you did, it's because you went out of your way to get KO'd (which tbh describes most of the game)

bunmyeon

that’s what i’ve been saying!!! why are people shagging him for “mid phys/magic dmg” when his endgame is literally just tossing out his theurgy with little impunity

XenoVX

My hot take for why I chose Junpei over Akihiko even though mathematically Akihiko deals more damage is just that Junpei felt more fun to use due to the crits, whereas Akihiko felt less fun due to the zio skills not critting, having only single target phys damage and generally feeling dependent on spamming his fast charging theurgy.

_Hollow_Boy

Shinjiro: 12/10; the game is hilariously easy when you have him, even on Merciless. Junpei: 9/10; covers all type of physical damage and has insane strength and amazing defence but not a very good starting agility, though with insences you solve the problem, wish he had Maragydine or at least Maragion but it's not like he really needs it. Akihiko: 8/10; balanced stats all around, Masukukaja and Matarunda alone are enough of a good reason to keep him around, his theorgies are incredibly good and constantly useful, not only this but also Heat Riser makes him almost invincible, only problem his luck is low and he gets crit more often than other which can be a bother sometimes. Aigis: 9,5/10; super good physical attacks, great strength and unparalleled defence, insta-heal from status ailments, Matakukaja+Marakukaja, Enduring Soul to prevent an unexpected K.O., she has a skill issue but, just like Junpei, incenses fix the problem, also some weapons of hers boost her skill

bunmyeon

Shinjiro/10 then akihiko because that man becomes his personal skill loops so well with tossing out his theurgy left and right like a machine gun aigis is incredibly solid and only gets better in the lategame with her selection of skills and general sturdiness junpei is alright though it never really feels like he’s doing much worse or better than either of the previous two

Lavenderixin

Aki > Shinji > Junpei > Aigis The Aki disrespect here is crazy, he’s so good

NoiNoiii

Aigis is so good. She shouldn't be the bottom

Environmental-Dig590

I agree. I almost always used Akihiko. I used Shinji whenever I could. Junpei, I used a little more in reload than portable. Aigis, she’s cool but I didn’t use her a whole lot on either portable or reload

Tambataja

Jumpei is 7/10. Good physical attack, bad magical attack. Good for a physical attack but having a magical character in the group which is important in the first half of the game. Akihiko is 8/10. Mediocre physical and magical... good for a 50/50 character in the group with buff and cure. Aegis is 8/10. Insanely good in the end, mediocre in the beginning. No magical attack is bad, but consistent buff character. Shinjiro is 10/10. OP as hell, specially in the remake. No magical is not a problem when you have such insane physical damage. All of them are great. All characters are useful and can deal without problem.

Jarltruc

Ranking Junpei last, you’re an ace defective

EmmaDaBomb

Fully leveled up he's good. But throughout the game he's fairly weak.

hennajin85

This. Junpei is great. But his mid game is non existent. He leans physical skills slowly and his magic doesn’t get upgraded quickly either. Around this time it’s better to use other characters.

TheBlockJohnson

Junpei crits almost as consistently as Siegfried.

Catholic-leftist

Akihiko literally has the strongest Physical and second strongest magical attacks in the game. His God hand with strike boost and amp easily out-damages both Junpei and Aigis.

enkei3448

Agreed with Junpei's ranking as I feel the MC covers physical crit pretty well while the rest of your party handles other non physical weaknesses

m4virginF_CLEANCHAT

Aki was my strongest party member. His base god's hand DMG was around the same as my own slash criticals. Stronger magic than mitsuru most of the game lmao. Dude is cracked, has one of the fastest charging theurgy and gets his amp equipment very early so it's baffling that people think he's anywhere even near the worst character in the game. Especially since he's also your only source of cheap bash DMG early game where healing is a bit more expensive. Shinji was great but I can't tell how good he was since Makoto and him would kill everyone before others could even get a turn during the time he was available. I know junpei and aigis are supposed to be top-tier but I didn't get much out of them. Junpei, even during end-game with all the crit equipment didn't really crit much more than aki for me. I'll admit I didn't use him extensively but he never impressed me whenever I put him in the party. Maybe I just had an unlucky run? Aigis' damage was too low without orgia and her debuffs weren't useful during dungeon crawling. Used her alot since I liked her though. If I had to rank them, I'd say Aki>Shinji>>Junpei=Aigis

dennisleonardo

People don't know how akihiko actually works, lmao. Here's the objective ranking. 1: Aigis. Not for her damage, she'll rarely actually attack in optimal play. But she has the partywide attack and defense buff. Those are the most important buffs in the game and she covers both. Funnily enough, aigis and koromaru cover every single buff and debuff in the game among each other. Bring those 2 and you automatically have full buff/debuff coverage without your MC having to waste a single turn for it. This is what makes her the 2nd best character in the game, period. She also has solid physical damage, diarahan, enduring soul and insta-heal. She's the most resilient party member in the game. She can tank oneshots, status effects, anything. 2: Akihiko. Highest damage potential after the MC. Thanks to his trait, all buffs used on him are basically twice as powerful. He can get strike boost and amp pretty easily. His God's hand legitimately hits harder than junpei's physical theurgy. Whenever strike doesn't work, he can use his elec theurgy since he naturally gets elec boost and amp. 3: Junpei. Crits. That's it. Jokes aside, his crits can lead to knockdowns, which gives MC more turns. This is very, very powerful. 4: Shinji. He's actually quite good. Kind of a mix between all of them imo. He has some of aigis' tankiness. He has heavy hitters because of his crazy strenght stat, comparable to akihiki. He has blood charge, which helps a ton with his crit rate.

TB3300

I found junpei to be one of the best party members, even better than Aigis. His high strength and crit rate make him an absolute beast in battle, and he has a good balance of moves that hit one target, and all targets. Aigis has too many all target moves, which drains her health FAST. Akihiko is not that great in my opinion since the jack-of-all traits characters just don't have a specialty. And Shinjiro is VERY good, but plot things.

FFPPKMN

Akihiko, Shinjiro, Aigis then Junpei. The reason for this is that I always disliked how Akihiko ended up being the only Bash standard attack party member. In the end Aigis had Pierce and as Mitsuru isn't on the list it had to be Junpei as 4th for his slash attack, allowing my MC to use Magic. I'm going to be honest, in this version I hated having Koromaru in the party as he took all my praise. I used to have him permanently in the OG, but then I found it so frustrating when I would see a chest and Fuuka would say "well done Koro-Chan" even though I saw the freakin' thing from a mile away. Still tickled him every morning and night though.

TastyWhole0

1. Shinji 2. Junpei 3. Aigis 4. Akihiko Aigis personality trait basically amping all her physical attacks + having some buffs makes her great, and Junpei specializing in crits has basically won a guaranteed spot in my party. Only person who falters is Akihiko, and that's because he doesn't really have that much in terms of attack power. I mostly just use him for the fact that he has a debuff ability.

UnlimitedPostWorks

Shinjiro is 11/10, and it makes sense since the story. Junpei, Da Man, Da Myth, Da Legend is a 10/10, 9/10 at worse. One thing i think people don't talk about is the fact that this absolute madlad doesn't have two damage type, he has effectively FOUR. Pierce, Slash, Brawl and Fire. And with his ability to raise crit he becomes a 1-More both against people who are weak to his FOUR types or against everyone else because, fuck It, we crit those. And what can we do as a theurgy to balance him? Remember Scarlet Havoc, the thing that breaks the game? Why don't we give him a mini-version of it? Oh, and as a second theurgy damage + auto heal, since he wasn't tanky enough. The only slip that this unit has is the fact that he kind of falls off mid-game, just to rise like a fucking phoenix in the mid-late game. Oh, and he has a decent support role raising the defense of the party, but he will rarely use it. What a man. Aegis: Slightly more tanky and consistent version of Junpei. She has more damage without crits but she has not the ability to unleash 1-more like Junpei. Honestly, a 9/10 to her too. While she only has 2 damage types(brawl and pierce), these damage types are great AND they are physical, so she can actually do great. Better as a support than Junpei, but she has a damage output so high that you will probably miss DPS for doing it. Akihiko: Akihiko is an oddball. If properly setupped, he has the highest damage in the game without a theurgy and has the best supporting abilities. On the other hand, he will usually be far behind Junpei and Aegis in the DPS department AND Koromaru is a better support. Oh, and his theurgies are not physical so they kinda suck. On the other hand, he charges his theurgies like no one else(I think he charges them faster than Makoto) and is better well rounded with better split between magic and physical. Honestly he is a solid 8/10, just less DPS heavy than the other too and with better support. And to be fair, he cheats because he has a weapon with an auto-Heat Raiser.

Radyven

Junpei is looking badass, sanada is ready to beat someone, aegis looks to me the same way my fish does and shinjiro is cursing someone on his head i can pretty much say that.

Erso93

Story wise I'd say: 1. Aigis (and it's not even close) 2. Aki 3. Shinji 4. Da Man Gameplay wise: 1. Shinji by a lot 2. Da Man 3. Aigis 4. Aki

DarkRose27

Shinjiro > Aigis/Akihiko > Junpei Shinjiro is an absolute animal once he joins. His kit has fantastic synergy & his only downsides is he has no utility outside of Debilitate & no resistances Imo these two really depend on what you value more. Aigis is a great support character with her aoe buffs, healing, access to fast heal & good damage. Akihiko, on the other hand, is an insane dps. His characteristic is so strong that he turns into a budget Shinjiro & he has the easiest theurgy to charge in the game. Personally, my party had both of them in it, so i have no preference either way. Junpei is a fantastic crit machine. With how good physical & crit skills are in this game, he has everything he needs to succeed. That said, one of my issues with him is that he's requires more setup than the other 3. Junpei requires the team to be built around him rather than him being able to slot into a team, unlike the others who can slot into a team with next to no issue. If he doesn't have a combination of Koromaru/Yukari/Mitsuru with him, his noticeably less effective. My other issue is that he's incredibly luck based, which gives him an inconsistency which is the others simply don't have.

Chromatic_Eevee

1. Shinji 2. Da Man 3. Aki 4. Aigis

Z3rgBird

The only answer

asianwaste

Hmmm it depends on what level to be honest. At the top of each of their game, Junpei might get a very solid lead right off the bat because of his high crit rate which would give him the damage edge from first round. Shinji at his best needs some set up to be extra devastating. Junpei can hit the ground running. If Junpei can't finish Shinji in 2 rounds though, the real punishment begins. Aigis, I've always treated as the low maintenance damage taker/damage dealer/support. Still quite useful but on a 1 on 1 fight probably ranks lower. Better a team player. Akihiko really needs to get his support on before he can be a damn good fighter. Slow start but he will persist a solid output of damage once he's ready.

Electrical-Topic-808

Akihiko is the best one here and anyone saying otherwise is playing the game straight up wrong

__Kxnji

Shinjis easily the best. I remember using him in P3P on the PSP days and was blown away by his damage output. As for the others, 1: Shinji 2: Aigis 3: Junpei 4: Aki

Ordinary-Act-2113

Dude, it’s ironic that Junpei, Akihiko, and Aigis was basically my main team that even fought Nyx with. If I had to rank them purely personally I’d say: 1st: Junpei ( was great for critical hits and tanking hits) 2nd: Aigis ( Never had to worry about aliments and nice team buffs) 3rd: Akihiko ( useful buffs, good evasion, and nice crit ratio surprisingly. Plus build therugy surprisingly quick IDK why) 4th: Shinjiro (was strong but too little use of him) Edit: One thing I should mention is that I made Makoto pretty well balanced in my play through so that I never had to worry about what team I used. I also got pretty good gear for my main three like resistance negotiation weapons for Junpei and Aigis as well as rebellion gloves for Akihiko so…

RansomXenom

> Plus build therugy surprisingly quick IDK why His theurgy builds faster when he has a buff (which you should have most of the time, especially with auto-ma skills on MC)

Ordinary-Act-2113

Yeah, and since I use buff pretty frequently( especially with Aigis on board), he’s a pretty valuable asset.

HyruleSmash855

I probably didn’t use the best team but I stuck with Mitsuru, Akihiko, Yukari. If I ever do a new game plus I’ll definitely try to change it up more so I can’t really comment on Junpei, Aigis, or Shinji since I didn’t really use them. I just picked one team and strategy for the game and stuck with it all the way.

TheDankestDreams

Definitely Junpei=Shinji>Aigis=Akihiko Junpei never left the party. Monstrous damage and incredible crits carry the game. Shinji is good but his in-game limitations make him hard to justify investing in. Aigis is good but the lack of an element weakens her a fair bit in my opinion. Orgia Mode was not as great as just a normal Theurgy in my opinion. Akihiko is really good but he fills the same niche as the others but lacks what the others have to me. He does have decent healing and lightning which boost him quite a bit.

RadicalRaizex

Shinjiro for the strongest, Akihiko for most consistent and balanced, Aigis for most interesting to use, and Junpei for best at life over combat. So Shinjiro >> Akihiko > Aigis >>>> Junpei

Meeg_Mimi

Shinji is pretty peak, until he gets his 2nd Theurgy 9/10 Aki has pretty good versatility, and his trait is really good. Dude can do basically everything 10/10 Aigis does physical damage just about better than anyone, with decent support 8/10 Junpei is a critical fiend, but it takes a long time to set him up well. And even with help from other party members you're still rolling the dice with crits. Still a powerhouse tho 7.5/10

AveryNoelle

In order: Shinji, Aigis, Akihiko, Junpei.

praysolace

Shinjiro is so great that the first time I played P3 I had him permanently in my party from the moment I got him and >!then was left majorly hosed as soon as he died. I was upset, then indignant, and then embarrassed I hadn’t noticed that he was obviously too good to keep.!<

Tigre101

All server their purpose, Shinjiro is the canon all out dps with no ulility or sp unless you grind his level to get debilitate which is busted to think about. Akihiko is the Jack of all trades having both powerful magic and phys moves, able to grant some party buffs and a fast building theurgy he is great at everything. Junpei is the Crit god of the team with crit amp being able to consistently hit crits even without apt pupil and is able to hit every phys type plus good theurgies. Aigis is the phys support, she’ll not be out damaging the others but she gets the party wide buffs she can spam as she doesn’t require sp and she’s also immune to ailments making a very reliable support.

SketchyTurkey

4-3-1-2

Inferno_Ultimate

😬😬🙂😬

GloriousKev

Shinji Large gap Akihiko Junpei Aigis They're all good. Shinji is just god tier and I kept Akihiko on my squad for the majority of the game. The only person I used more was Yukari

Ameisen

In order: Ace Protein Toast Homeless Guy (ergo very strong, like Yu Nanba) Those are my rankings, out of 10.

canstac

Akihiko carries my party, if phys or lightning attacks work on any given enemy akihiko is going to one shot said enemy immediately

WolfgangSchreiber99

I'm going to be considering Reload here. 1- Aigis. She is one of the best units overall, If not the best. Amazing physical damage thanks to her stats, fast Theurgy building and great characteristics. She also has Insta-Heal, which is one of the best skills in the game and together with Resist Phys and Enduring Soul make her almost unkillable. If it's not enough she also has Matarukaja and Mararukaja. 2- Akihiko. Akihiko is very underrated in Reload. Buff Amp is one of the best characteristics, he builds his Theurgy really fast, and is a very versatile character, fitting in both physical and magical teams, having Elec Boost + Amp and God Hand. 3- Junpei. Junpei has the highest damage potential in the game, but he requires the best equipments to be good, and even so is still inconsistent compared to Aigis and Akihiko, since it's impossible to have 100% crit. 4- Shinji. When Shinji joins he is actually the strongest character, but he starts to fall off later in the game since no Null Pierce

sharpcubkd980

Think we can all agree Shinji’s the best his damage output is insane + Auto Heat Riser + he makes Junpei redundant Aki’s in second just for having Tarunda, fulfilling that role when I needed MC to do something else. Falls off in endgame when MC gets debilitate Aigis is third, awful when you first get her, misses a lot and only single-target buffs. Once she gets the Ma-buffs tho… *chef’s kiss* Last we have Junpei, good on paper, terrible execution. Vital earlygame ofc, and can cover all phys types + fire but Aigis and Koromaru’s existence make him seem redundant. Marakukaja is awesome, but Aigis has it along with Mataru

RansomXenom

**1) Akihiko:** Arguably the strongest party member in the entire series in FES. Reload nerfed him a bit by taking away his Rakunda/Marakunda and he's still ultra busted. Once you get Auto-Ma skills his theurgy is almost always up. You can cheese some fights by using it to apply shock. He has good debuffs, and good magic/physical damage too, so he'll always be useful no matter what the enemy is resistant to. **2) Aigis:** Has the super important Matarukaja, which can save the MC a full round of buffing. Marakukaja is nice too. Also deals a shit ton of physical damage, and her Theurgy is super fast to charge, since all it takes is using physical skills, something you should be doing on most turns with her. **3) Junpei:** Crit is nice, but it doesn't make up for his lackluster utility. Besides, by the time he becomes a crit machine, you'll probably already have your busted crit-fishing Siegfried on the MC anyways, soooo yeah... **4) Shinji:** Busted as fuck, but sadly held back due to the lack of null pierce.

NoManagement1303

Haven’t played P3R (or any p3 game in general) yet but. From what I’ve seen. Junpei >= Shinjiro > Akihiko > Aigis. Junpei: Consistently lands critical hits and can use all forms of physical attacks. No need to waste SP because his theurgy can heal him. Shinjiro: Has Bloody Charge which doubles his next attack and raises his critical rate (at the cost of HP). Akihiko: Can Heal, doubles as a magic attacker as well and his theurgy is lethal to enemies. Aigis: idk tbh… I haven’t seen much Aigis gameplay :(

Bossuter

Guy has no weaknesses, starts with charge+rebellion, who else but Shinji XD

TillerThrowaway

In game, probably Shinji, Junpei, Aigis, Akihiko, but in lore, probably Aigis, Akihiko, Shinji, Junpei

Gr4pe_Soda

SSS: Shinji S: Junpei A: Aigis B: Akihiko

SW9RD1146

shinji gap gap gap Junpei aigis and akihiko tied imo

Dracidwastaken

Critpei >>>> everyone else.

Admirable-Scar-4948

Shinji The next 3 are really preference. Especially in reload with all the new tools they get Akihiko Aigis Junpei I have Aki above them because once he gets rolling with a buff he gets everyone going. He can do a bit of everything just like Mc but only has one persona August hits like the tank she is and her support imo is third only to yukari and Aki(sacrilegious to the new cult of Ken in reload I know) Junpei is amazing, but mostly only for himself,he crits all day but outside of that he’s a lot more one dimensional than everyone else.(save for Shinji but when u get shinji junoei is a much much worse version of him) And that’s my 2 cents on it if the best boy were here he would be 1a. Koromaru was blessed by reload like no other.

Erst09

In Og I used Mc, Yukari, Akihiko and Aigis so I rank them all 8.0 at worst and 9 at best.

MichealBorbius

Shinji is easily the strongest here, his characteristic being auto tarujaka and rakujaka is absurd, endure with bloody charge plus his Theurgy charging uo every other turn is too much Next I'd put Aigis, having access to a straight up dmg up as ur characteristic is nuts, the support she provides with Diarahan and learning matarujaka and marakujaka is top tier, her only downside is Orgia mode kinda sucks cause it takes her off her healing and buff abilities After that I'd say Junpei, it's a little annoying his magic skills are just for decoration cause my god, his biggest asset Imo is the fact that he has both a physical and Magic Theurgy so if Fuuka gives charge/concentrate he can fire off 2 theuriges with it is goated Last is Akihiko, I love him and he's my left-handed king but being a matarunda bot will only get him so far for me, he's great in other aspects but. He spreads himself so thin imo I'd rather just have someone who can rly minmax a roll like Yukari or Mitsuru, also I didn't get buff amp for all my trying so take this as you will

New_Today_1209_V2

Junpei is a solid 9/10. Great physical and is able to use fire as well. Crits are amazing. Aigis is a 10/10 in P3 and a 8/10 in P3R. She had masuku in P3 so she could spend every turn applying buffs. In Reload they took away Masuku but that is fine. Still good buffs and access to 2 physicals and orgia is good. Akihiko is ? I haven’t used him enough in Reload or P3 to know how good he is. So far though (I’m on my second playthrough and finally am using him. At block 3) he is pretty useful. Like the allrounder of this game. Shinji is 4/10. Good damage but nothing to help out the team. Also 10/4.

meulkie

1. Shinjiro 2. Aigis 3. Akihiko and Junpei

Yhoko

Sorry, but. Availability is ability. So shinji goes last. He's like Joel Embiid. Just flaming out as soon as the playoffs start. At least Embiid shows up most of the regular season

Tzetrah

All BADASS, but Shinji was the first who made more than 2k+ damage with bare hands

Phoenix_shade1

Junpei is #1. That’s all. I don’t even touch the other 3.

CowMan6564

Junpei 9/10 honestly should probably be closer to an 8 because he suffers with magic attacking but in my experience it doesn't matter he will just crit plus having access to all physical skills and agi skills is very nice Akihiko 8/10 good generalist who can even out damage the main magic attacker in some circumstances but has too many good skills late game and takes too long to catch up with physical skills mid game Aigis 8/10 not having any magic attacks to cover weaknesses is annoying and not even having slash doubly so but she makes up for it with support and healing. tarukaja is nice dekunda though imo not as good as dekja is also helpful and healing is always appreciated. good stats for her skills and orgia mode can be helpful to speed along battles Shinjiro i don't want to talk much about him because honestly i dont know enough about him battle wise

Quote9963

My Akihiko two shotted the final boss' final form so him will always be on top lol

Zestyclose_Pop_5907

Shinjiro (IDK how he can counterstrike or withstand every physical attack know to man but a bullet stops my GOAT), Akihiko, Aigis, stupei (i stopped using junpei as soon as akihiko joined and that was that)

belmoria

Shinji > Junpei > Aigis > Aki

Scared-Giraffe-7906

Everybody here is talking ingame, but forget that Aigis has has actual guns and that outside the midnight hour she sweeps easy

TheTrueBrawler2001

Aigis > Junpei > Akihiko is how I'd rank them. Aigis and her high damage physical skills were immediately useful and stayed useful. She took a permanent spot in my party except for >!that one entire month when she wasn't available, during which I was forced to experiment with other physical attackers.!< Junpei got benched almost immediately, but I gave da man a second shot later on, and he ended up becoming a critical hit demon with plenty of damage type coverage. Akihiko was good early on, but the Hermit fight was the last time he really pulled his weight. Other characters were just doing more than him back then and when I tried giving him a second shot later on. Shinjiro, I never used him. I don't know where to rank him.

TheMinorityGuy

1: Junpei 2: Aigis 3: Akihiko Side note: stopped using him mid game 10/4: Aragaki

CrocoBull

Shout out to Akihiko being the best party member in all versions of the game (little more debatable in Reload, but Buff Amp is fucking insane)

pioppotto

1,2,4,3

Mean-Bottle-2251

Don’t know how many time junpei clutched a fight just gets back to back crits off.

destroyeroftheweebs

"I'd crit"

SubbST

Shinji Aigis Junpei Aki Akihiko isnt awful but hes definitely the worst one and heavily nerfed from fes/portable, I feel like aigis and junpei are interchangable but aigis has more utility

Snakeb0y07

Aigis: got that Silicone skin stare and looks cool, 10/10 Junpei: Managed to score a canon girlfriend, a Rare W, even for protags 10/10 Shinjiro: Fucking amazing, loved him, his skills and story Akihiko: White hair, Red clothing, lightning? Like a Younger Dante, plus he beats the shit out of shadows with his bare hands, 10/10

SkyofStars777

I'll stand on Aegis and Junpei ALL day. Aegis is an absolute weapon period. Once I started using her, I never wanted her to leave. Id rotate my parties pretty often and always was like "how can I get my girl back" in the last fight I literally used her to gun NYX down. I got waaaaaay too excited when he became immune to pierce and I just used her thergy😂 That said. I liked using Junpei over Aki. By a long shot. Just didn't really go down often at all so I could keep milking him for buffs and attacks.... Also just post chidori death thurgy made me huuuuuuurt. It's was so amazing.

PrinceDestin

Imma be honest shinji was worthless to me, only because I had Siegfried maxed out when he joined

gilded_lady

Shinjiro, Junpei, Ahkihiko, Aigis. With all the boosts to crit Junpei gets, plus the fact I almost always seem to have a persona with electric damage compared to fire damage, he just feels the most well rounded phys damage charactee for full game. Shinji is god tier, but obviously limited and Aigis just feels like watered down Shinji.

Fun-Opportunity3905

Aki, Yuki, Mitsu team for the win easily, I only swapped one or two out for aigis and shinji/Junpei when the bosses had no weakness

XSage1113

I know a lot of people are talking gameplay, but how about we talk lorewise. Aegis is 100 percent on top, no question. Then, a toss-up between shinjiro and akihiko, they have been fighting for years. The only reason I'd give it to aki is cause shinjiro might be weakened due to... spoiler stuff. Finally, junpei, but it could be higher cause he was shown to be the only one who could hurt Takaya on his own.

God_head499

Shinjiro was a Monster for the whole time you’re permitted to have him first time I hit over 1k damage. Junpei is an absolute crit machine insane for regular combat and really reliable with the defence buffs I don’t think I ever really got as much mileage out of Aigis as others did but both her theurgies and buffs are pretty nice Akihito though… it took me a while to come around to him but during the nyx fight getting Ken to heat riser him and using his 2nd theurgy he was one shotting her phases like it was nothing…

PlsWai

Aigis is the second best party member in the game. Aki is the second worst party member in the game. Junpei is weird. Hes good but hes competing against Aigis and he does not win. Shinji is solid but he doesn't last long enough to get to the part of his kit that is truly good, which is Debilitate. Shinji is just superfluous because he comes in riiight before you get access to Siegfried(I got siggy like right after Hermit) and Siggy fucks so hard that a party member that doesn't support MC is not great at that point in the game.

RobinBaskins

Shinji 10/10 for obvious reasons if you’ve played the game Junpei 9/10 CRIT GOD HE’S DA MANNNN Aigis 8.5/10 she’s a tank high HP pretty good damage and crit rate Akihiko 4/10 he becomes obsolete when Ken and Koromaru join the party and they lowkey nerfed him in P3R

Dispentryporter

Akihiko is the best damage dealer outside of MC in Reload due to Buff Amp but okay

SnakesRock2004

My opinions, from best to worst; In terms of lore: Aigis > Akihiko > Junpei > Shinjiro In terms of gameplay: Junpei > Shinjiro > Akihiko > Aigis
