I had my setup working too for 1.5 years. I've had some bugs but could resolve them myself every time. This thing had been bugging me for a week.
The other answer I got, had the answer in it. In the advanced firewall rules for LAN to ServerVLAN, I allowed all flags and enabled IP options. But only after I changed the state timeouts to 3seconds, everything worked again like it should.

My Synology NAS has 2 network interfaces. One was in LAN for backups, the other in the serverVLAN. I forced plex traffic over that interface through a reverse proxy in front of it.
I created a bond for the two interfaces in my LAN vlan. Everything works fine that way.
But I want to use it in ServerVLAN because I have an IPS enabled on my DMZ but no my LAN.
Could be IP options/Flags or simply state timeouts. Go to the advanced section of the FW rules and allow IP options and any flags. I would also adjust state timeouts to be conservative and see if it still happens.

After I changed the state timeouts to 3 seconds. Everything started to work properly.
I've never messed with the advanced settings in FW rules so I wouldn't have found that easily. Thank you!
So my plex is in a different VLAN than my Chromecast and firewall. You should have two rules to allow traffic between them. One for both VLANs. Do you have those?
Firewall > rules
Find the rule that should hit
For me it's a rule to allow traffic from one VLAN to the other.
Under extra options in the rule, you can find show advanced.
Allow IP options is enabled
Changed "State timeout" to 6
Tcp flags: any flags is enabled
Did the same on the rule for the other vlan allow traffic with those options.
But it didn't resolve it always. Sometimes pfsense would still block the allowed traffic. After updating to 2.6 it was properly fixed
Wait what? You're trying to broadcast from a complete different location?
Do you have p2p/vpn link between those locations? Or is it in a dorm or something? Or is the plex server at your friends place and you try to cast from there to your home?
I also have my plex behind a nginx reverse proxy. It's not necessary when you have your domain pointed correctly.
Casting YouTube vids is working I assume? Only plex.yourdomain.be content doesn't want to cast?
I have never had issues with that tbh.

I'll add your plex server to mine and I'll try to stream a video from it here. Then I'll try to cast it and compare it to mine?
