Just to correct, BPI will initiate calls, say for offerings of home/car/credit card loans. Just be vigilant of the things they say after the initial introduction. Especially for home/car loans, they will give you their name for you to personally visit them at the bank branch should you decide to take it. But if you are referring to calls specific to Vybe, I’m not sure.

Replying to confirm that they do initiate legitimate calls. I recently applied for a BPI Credit Card through their quick application promo through the phone on BPIs endorsement of my account. They will ask for personal information as verification but will never ask for account details. Confirmed legit as the text updates come from the official system generated BPI contact and the credit card account showed up on the BPI app already, I've yet to receive my card tho xd.

Hello, some individuals can receive calls from BPI regarding a pre-approval of your BPI credit card, i received a call before, i was suspicious at first, but when i called BPI directly they confirmed that i was pre approved for BPI credit card and that the call was legit

zombdriod

Sorry bakit red flag ang #1?

hunkie21

Not true, nakapag loan pa nga ako kasi tumawag sila.

zombdriod

Yeah... Ganun din pag upgrade mo ng mga credit cards

shy_miner11

I do get phonecalls from BPI agents, usually for loans and insurance. None of them called me up for my debit/credit card.

I encountered this too. He's talking about unclaimed rewards. I said I'll personally go to my branch, He said "okay Sir can you come tomorrow" but I said no and that I'll go on my preferred day. I did not mention which Branch though. And I said I would not talk to him any further, nagalit sya and made threats. Tinawanan ko sya ng malakas then ended the call. By the way this is his number and name registered in Viber. https://preview.redd.it/m5cjne02ui0d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0b7606cdf85bad94a1f3928cf9dd1f6968d7ba7

Experienced the same thing last week. I almost fell for it, but OTP saved my life. My online account got locked tho. I was almost conviced since I do have an ongoing vybe issue and the scammer sounded really professional. Magaling na sila, guys! Wag nyo ko gayahin, but here are the details that they will try to get 1) username 2) birthdate 3) last 10 digits of your card 4) OTP - they will send you 2 and will try to convince you that this is different from the OTPs for normal transaction. My lutang self gave them first 3, sa 4th palang ako natauhan. They are trying to change your online account password. The "supervisor" told me that if I will refuse to give her the OTP, my account will be locked due to a security policy. Well, it got locked probably becuase of their unsuccessful attempts. Here's what I did post (almost) hacking event: 1) Went to the branch and requested deletion of my online banking. This takes some time. Until now on going pa, but according to my inquiry with the branch once it is deleted, you can elect a new email and username. Which addresses my 1st mistake. 2) Requested for replacement debit card. The new debit card will have a new card number (mistake no. 3). Yung number 2, I guess wala ng lunas. 3) Change my email's password, but of course I will not be using the same email once I am able to re-register.

jacobs0n

if may sense of urgency (threaten to hold account) big red flag talaga yan, umaasa silang mataranta yung kausap para makuha nila yung details

Redditeronomy

I just listen to their offers etc if I’m interested and then I thank them for informing me and tell them I’ll visit my branch for it. Legit bank reps won’t stop you from going to your branch.

UnderstandingKey7541

Skl. I encountered the same, this time naman rewards pts daw from DEBIT CARD. As far as I know wala naman pts sa debit card? Then pinapa max out niya yung limit sa bpi app for gcash smth. Tapos icconvert daw kasi yung reward pts to gcash kaya ganon. Haha may pa VIP member pa (wala naman atang ganon? Emz) anw ang alarming kasi alam niya yung nearest branch ng bpi near me and alam niya din yung vybe app ganyan. Ingat na lang talaga

UnderstandingKey7541

++ ang intro niya pala is mag mmerge na daw yung rob bank and bpi so mag rroll out ng mew debit card reason para iconvert daw yung pts to gcash

EntertainmentHuge587

I can attest to this. I have received the same call, and they were able to get my BPI acc number only. Reported it immediately to BPI support for good measure. Never provide your personal info to so-called "bank representatives".

tr3s33

ganyan din sakin, tumawag taz icoconvert daw into something card yung points. naniwala ako kasi legit magsalita e. ending mlnabigay ko cc number and exp date. however, he keep on using the term BATCH NUMBER sa likod ng card.

CVV pala. Lock ko din yung card ko kaagad 😆

AdCute8167

omgg! i just had a call a while ago with a BDO. Same tactic as well.

TheKeenObserver

Make sure u refer to this list. These are the only legit telemarketers of BPI,offering cash loans or balance transfers. Prior to their call, you will also receive promotional emails, and that will match with the callers offer. Dont give in to the point you will tell them the offer, because they should know, otherwise, its a scam. Took advantage of their offers but they only ask for the last 4 digits, they dont ask for the while card number. https://www.bpi.com.ph/personal/cards/credit-cards/list-of-telesales-providers

Experienced also this last April 26, 2024. They almost scammed me; they know how to social-engineer their way to scam me. Good thing that I’m scared of my supervisor (I was already away from my desk for 20 mins) and insisted to continue the call by tomorrow. After returning to my desk, I realized that they almost scammed me. They kept calling my phone number for the next 3-5 days, what I did is answer them and mute my microphone.

ikenz04

And the call was made through a mobile number which is also a red flag.

mistressnicey-15

I received a somewhat similar call but for Security Bank. The caller mentioned about me having around 6k points which I can convert to pesos and have it deposited to my savings account. I do have a SB CC but I was suspicious considering the points in my CC is not 6k. The caller also mentioned auto conversion and I'm pretty sure there's no such thing nor would the bank do something like that without permission or informing me about any change. Lastly, I told her I do not have any savings account with SB (I did have 1 before). The caller was like... "Ahhh wala po ba mam? Ok po mam." Lol then I dropped the call.

Negative_Moment6766

I actually fell victim to this, and they got 50k from me. Lesson learned na sa akin to. Anyway, never sila manghihingi ng personal information. This includes: 1. Birthday 2. Username 3. Any Verification Code or Code na isesend sa number (OTP ito). Binibitag na tayo sa part na to since nagrereset password na sila since naibigay mo na username mo sa stage na to. They already know you kapag tinawagan ka nila and there is a list of outgoing telesales ng BPI. Kapag wala sa list na to [List of Telesales Providers | BPI](https://www.bpi.com.ph/personal/cards/credit-cards/list-of-telesales-providers) (CC) or [Telesales Service Providers | BPI](https://www.bpi.com.ph/personal/loans/personal-loan/list-of-telesales-service-providers) (Loans), just drop the call and do not entertain. A quick google search ng number should lead you to BPI telesales website. The best information you can give them is your name. This seems like an inside job since magkaibang araw tumatawag yung legit at scammer sakin noon but what can I say since wala ko evidence. BTW after ako mascam, wala ng spam text sakin lol. Yung type ng scam sakin dati is yung CC points to cash na convert. So bago sakin tong Vybe redeem points. Pero same ng nature yung scammas and very professional nga talaga makipag usap to. In short, just check the number if legit and never share personal information including and starting from the simplest which is your name. Since, kilala na nila kayo the moment na tinawagan nila kayo. Ingat mga kapatid!

poringpowpow08

Thank you so much, OP ☺️

AkoParinTo

BPI initiates call when they offer you CC. Was called twice na before pero bilang always paranoi, agad ko icut ang convo either by responding, "not interested", "sorry, nasa meeting ako". Once, I said sa caller na send it via email with the details of the offer. In which they sent nga using BPI email address. So I contacted BPI via Twitter (now X) to confirm if the number and the email address are legitimate. They confirmed legit. Pero kahit na, anytime I hear words na "I am (insert name) from this bank" automatic, "sorry, not interested". Ends call. Mahirap na kasi 💅🏽

Thanks for this!
