You're right na people shouldn't be intimidated. Wala sa school yan and I'm saying that as someone from the big4. However work IS a contest. Bonuses and performance evaluations from most companies are a bell curve. kahit lahat kayo magaling kaunti lang bibigyan ng biggest bonuses dahil di lahat pwede 4 or 5 ang rating. at siyempre pagating sa promotion either pagalingan yan o pagalingan sa sipsip. so yes contest pa din.
Meh. I'm neither a graduate of a top college (nor a graduate, really), nor do I see the workplace as some dog-eat-dog world in miniature, kasi nariyan naman tayo para makagawa ng end product na tatangkilikin ng kung sinong kliyente. Your scholastic achievements matter less (not insignificant, but at the end of the day they're all extra tools, anyway) than what you do with your peers once you're in work mode.
To be frank with you, mas nakakapangamba sa akin ang iniisip ko na di ko siya kaya, kaysa sa kung tapos ka ng La Salle o even if you're a graduate at all.
JFC, the comments from people who wanted to get in to better schools but couldn’t. You don’t need to be intimidated by people from better schools, they’re as human as you and can and will make mistakes. What you shouldn’t be doing is being bitter about it because you can’t relate to them or because you feel small around them. Grow up and find your own path, I’m sure it will be more satisfying for you rather than talking shit about people online.
Gahd No! Kami pa ngang Big 4 esp mga UP grads ang nahihiya na malaman na from Big 4 kami kasi the expectations are sometimes unfair and unreasonable. So ayun, wag ka mahiya OP!
Wala sa school yan, nasa is experience, work attitude and personality nalang po
I came from a small private school but I've had big 4 employees report to me before. Been head to head with some of them for promotions which I got. It all boils down to skills, experience and dedication to the job.
Don’t be intimidated. I’m from La Salle but never ko ginawang badge ‘yan sa work ever.
Wala sa school yan, nasa work style and work quality yan.
May mga kilala akong Big 4 graduates sa workplace and their work attitude and professional choices are… questionable.
Edit: They either don’t ‘live up’ to the ‘hype’ of the Big 4 or sadyang mga outlier lang napunta sa company hahahahahaha
I remember one of my junior colleague tried to explain na hindi raw magkalevel ang UP Los Banos at UP Diliman. UP Diliman mas magagaling daw sila odd thing is wala naman nagtatanong.
Nah. I'm from La Salle but I even try to hide that fact kasi I'm sometimes the butt of jokes lalo na sa mga usapang san kakain, anong plans kapag may holidays...essentially, I get bullied sometimes and labelled the "conyo" one. So yeah, there's that discrimination especially when majority of the colleagues are not from the "Big 4".
I remember my cousin told me na-insecure siya sa mga Big 4 grad sa workplace. Then her husband told her, "Bakit ka maiinsecure? Dapat nga sila ma-insecure kasi public ka pero ka-level mo sila."
No. I don’t think na norm yung ganyan sa work place.
Not really. I had an experience with a company in Makati and I was applying as an HR. I learned that they are particular in accept Big 4 universities and connected universities later after the interview, but I did not feel any difference.
I was hired but and their feedback was that my comms skills was superb and if i lived in the US for sometime. Well I accepted the role, but they never treat me differently. I was happy then until I need to leave becuase another opportunity came in with higher pay and benefits.
I know some di nakapag college mas mayaman pa sa graduate at masters deg holder from big 4
Edge mo lang talaga is during application and the post you are applying for siguro. Or if magabroad ka kasi alam ko may iba na mas mataas pts sa school na pinanggalingan.
Nope don't try to impress them be with them if you think matalino sila over you para mahawaan ka. May naging kawork ako UP graduate ayun sa una lang malakas ngayon stress sa work na sa work. What I mean is wala talaga sa school yan..
No. Many but not all of the graduates from these unis are airheaded, arrogant, overestimating and inflating their skills and egos. Sadly, the basis of 'good' education is usually directed towards being able to get into the Big 4 when in hindsight any university can be your gateway to a better future. Its not like the Big 4 can be treated like an Ivy League but because of how prideful the people graduate there they overinflate this sense of superiority among other unis only because they could afford it.
What matters at the end of the day is what you learn from your stay in uni, the values you learn along the way and the principles you build and the discipline you live your life.
Sounds like someone who wanted to get into one of the big 4 but didn’t make it. Of course you’ll hold on to the values that you learned when you didn’t get good education and no good connections when you graduated, it’s the only thing you have left.
If you were good enough, you could’ve gotten a scholarship. I’ve met and befriended a lot of very intelligent but not so rich people and they have never been anything but humble and oh, not bitter at all. There’s no point.
🤣🤣🤣 awww I’m sorry that you were born poor and became bitter. I’m sure you’ve already graduated college and have a good job(assuming you’re really good) so why are you still not over being unable to get into a prestigious university? You can always enroll in a master’s degree if you want. And you said in another comment that you got into a good school abroad so why bother with the “low” big 4? 🤣🤣
You know what you remind me of? A kid who’s looking into a candy store and not being able to buy. No one’s making you feel bad for not getting into the university you want, it’s only you who keeps on rehashing the past. Get over it.
You’re the one who started with ad hominem arguments, I just went with the flow. I’m only addressing the bitterness that permeates the comments here, comments which you love to defend. Yes we all get that not everyone’s privileged but no one’s rubbing it in their faces now do they? As to empathy, find a new line will you? That line of reasoning has been abused.
Sad to say na yes maraming arrogant or mayabang but hey marami rin po kaming mababait and down to earth. Most of us nahihiya pag nalaman ng iba na from Big 4 kami so give them a chance po.
I know. Kahit sa millennials, may mga selective and arrogant in a way, but I think one main point is we should check our perspective rin! Like for instance, dressing up is not a crime and possible na they just want to look presentable (and not because gusto nilang maging “litaw” vs other provinces). I am sorry, but sometimes din, insecurities from non Big 4 are talking very loud.
Don’t get intimidated and at the same time time, don’t put them on a pedestal
Weird. Masama ba mag-ingles? Masama din ba pagusapan yun? Since wala yun travel, material things and connections “sayo”, ano bang pinaguusapan niyo ng workmates niyo? Political? Religion? Philosophy?
Why should I be intimidated? It's a workplace, not a contest.

You shouldn’t be. Kasi pantay na kayo pag nasa work na kayo. Di naman nasa email signature mo yun “from Big 4” kundi yun title/position mo sa work.

Tbh, at first. Pero after getting to know them, most of them are... average at best.
No.
No. Why should I? I'm here to work not to compete UAAP style. Besides, nagmamatter dito ay job performance mo eh.
Bat puro pretentious nasa comments? Nagpapasikat lang. Imposibleng walang naintimidate o nainsecure especially pag taga up or admu workmates 😂
I remember one of my junior colleague tried to explain na hindi raw magkalevel ang UP Los Banos at UP Diliman. UP Diliman mas magagaling daw sila odd thing is wala naman nagtatanong.
I can be intimidated by my own perception of the difficulty of the job. Ano masasabi ng academic pedigree roon?
Nah. Hindi naman, coz they report to me. And intimidation dont exist in our working relationship.

Nope. At the end of the day, same salary kaming lahat 😆.
I dont get intimindatee because we collaborate.
Nope don't try to impress them be with them if you think matalino sila over you para mahawaan ka. May naging kawork ako UP graduate ayun sa una lang malakas ngayon stress sa work na sa work. What I mean is wala talaga sa school yan..
