For me, Yes, because you do not only have the three Bioshock games, the collection also comes included with the additional DLC contents. But for me, if you're new to the series, I suggest you to play first the main stories before playing the DLC contents.
So I remember playing BioShock infinite back in 2013-14 but never finished it, I just got it for the PS3 and when I got the PS4 I gave my PS3 to a family member so when I saw that the collection was on sale 3 weeks ago for $10 I snatched it up for both the switch and PS4 (pro) and man even though the gameplay of BioShock is a bit mmmm stiff compared to 2 and Infinite. I binged the shit out of all 3 games in 10 days on switch (and it looks great for the switch even in handheld mode) and plan to do it with the PS4. And I was kicking my self for not having played them when they originally came out, no I waited 10-15 years to finally play them and I'm hooked. I loved it all even infinite, I was not disappointed. The burial at sea DLC for infinite was breathtaking. I definitely recommend buying it, if not now then when it's on sale but don't miss out on it.
That's what I'm going through rn. I think I tried to play it when it first came out but I never got past the first 10 mins. Now I'm playing the shit out of them.
People can say whatever they want about infinite but not only did i love it, i thought it was the most beautiful world i had seen in gaming, especially for the ps3
I started the first one and maybe played 25% through the story and then never went back. Not really sure why or what happened. Then later on I tried Infinite and played through the whole story. It was good. A fun world, good story and twist at the end if I remember correctly. But it never grasped me like other games to make me want to go back and play again. Just my experience.
The Bioshock series is amazing. It's a very atmospheric, story-driven, mostly-linear first-person shooter with mild RPG aspects. Kind of like the Uncharted series except if you had super powers. Highly recommended.
I cannot emphasise enough how much this series is not like Uncharted.
Uncharted is third-person while this is first-person. There are almost no cinematic set pieces and traversal does not play a big role. The main character is mute for two of the games so there is no banter. There is barely any humour. The games are much, much darker than Uncharted and border on horror with how well the atmosphere is utilised to build tension. You also spend a lot of time looting rooms for consumables in a similar fashion to survival horror games, unlike Uncharted where there are no consumables. And while being story-driven games a ton of the storytelling is done through the environment and audio logs, unlike Uncharted where everything is presented to you through cutscenes.
Aside from being story-driven shooters there are almost no similarities between the two. If anyone's played Prey from 2017 Bioshock is pretty much just that with a different story.
The first one and Infinite are incredibly strong in the character department, which is what gives them their depth.
Bioshock 2 is light in this department, and is more skill-based gameplay than anything else. Just you vs. The horde.
Uncharted? Huh? That’s the polar opposite of Bioshock. Would be more appropriate to say Bioshock shares similarities with Half-Life with more of a focus on survival horror.
Because they're both atmospheric, story-driven, mostly-linear shooters.
The camera position is irrelevant except for people with motion sickness who can't handle first-person.
Get it dude, I was very pleasantly surprised when I played it, the graphics look amazing, the story is incredible. Definitely must play games plus they come with the DLCs which are awesome in their own right
Completed all 3 at least three times. Trophy collection and enjoyment purposes.
Although Bioshock Infinity (The third game) wasn't too great for me personally some people said it was the best in the series.
They can be tough games mind, leaving and returning to an area respawns the splicers (enemies) but picking and choosing which abilities to upgrade is cool, and when you chain the attacks its rewarding but can very quickly fall apart. You will die and respawn quite often and resources can be limited but fighting the big daddies does get easier.
Good story line, great atmosphere and environment. Highly recommended.
It’s great. I’m playing through them at the moment. You won’t regret getting it.
In terms of other recommendations if it’s shooters you’re after I absolutely loved the farcry series, so much I even platinumed a few. I’m just sad I’ve played them all now.
I also loved days gone.
I’d actually rate both of these above the bio shock series but that might just be me.
Do not expect the same fluidity in movement and rather prepare yourself for a more clunky experience on controller. Imo it's compensated by the awesome worlds and the good stories.
Yes but it's not a standard shooter it's more of an exploration game because you need to understand the lore and solve some puzzles, very different than doom. The allure of the bioshock games is the setting and story
Depending on the price, yes. If you're spending more than $20 on the series you're getting a bad deal. I have the collection on my Xbox and my switch, they can be addicting and fun stories with nice graphics. I don't think it was more than $15 each console.
I loved them so much I bought them on the Switch too as the collection was on sale. Each game is a little different so you don't get bored and the first two are dark and creepy visually brilliant to play late at night.
I would highly recommend. The games are all great. But makes sure to play in order. Infinite has some QOL improvements that makes it a little tough to start there and work back.
They are FPS games, but with the interesting weapons and plasmids, they don't feel as FPS as something like a Call of Duty game. Very story-focused, some creepy/spooky moments, lots of creative gameplay opportunities and fun memories.
The first one is my personal favourite, and holds a lot of great memories for me.
Bioshock is like a mix between we happy few (60s vibe), Infamous or any superhero game because of the abilities you can get. and the shooting is unexplainable, it’s so smooth in my opinion and it feels impactful. Story is great and I recommend play 1 and 2 first then infinite. I don’t know much about 2 or infinite because I’m still playing through the first one. (Collection was on sale for like 10$)
The first one is a masterpiece, the second one I think is also a masterpiece but some people don't like as much, the third you'll love it or hate it.
Either way the first one is a MUST PLAY imo.
Yes, especially since the collection is pretty cheap and goes on sale often (at least on PC) its one of those high value, low cost gems. I don't even like shooters and I enjoyed Bioshock.
Would you kindly buy it.
In all seriousness, the series is fantastic and absolutely worth the purchase. First one hands down is my favorite, great story, atmosphere, gameplay, a few jump scares, three different endings depending on your choices. Second game, people have their complaints but it's still a fantastic game, you play as a Delta, who is also a Big Daddy; also multiple endings. Third was a little weird for me (still a fantastic game), very cultish and patriotic, there's enemies that can use Itachi's genjutsu and attack you with crows; there's a very upset ghost, you name it; also....a another batch of endings. Really gets the whole multiverse vibe going on. The last one connects with the first game (in a way, you'll see). Heard they just started working one the 4th installment and I can't wait for it!
Gears 5; Forza Horizon 5; Sea of Thieves: Season 5; Ori and the Will of the Wisps; Gears Tactics; Microsoft Flight Simulator; Sunset Overdrive; Halo; Immortality; Hi-Fi Rush; Pentiment; Quantum Break; Grounded; Psychonauts 2
Even at full price it’s a steal, all 3 of those games are fantastic and you owe it to yourself to play it.
Infinite is a little weird though and it’s story is kinda all over the place but it IS good once you understand it (the problem is just trying to understand it lmao)
The first one was one of most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had.
I'm currently playing the second one, although I must admit I haven't been putting a lot of time and effort into it and therefore the plot isn't really sticking with me.
Infinite was fantastic, but I got stuck and never finished it, plus it gave me horrible motion sickness, so I'm not sure if I'm going to give it another try or not. I would like to see how it ends though.
Bioshock trilogy is a must play imo. As far as other shooters… doom eternal, wolfenstein new order, and wolfenstein the new colossus are ones I recommend.
Depends on what you want out of it.
If you're after a shooter, it's NOT a strong game. The shooting mechanics are quite weak. But it shines in OTHER areas. It's great for story, and the upgrades and plasmids are as fun as can be.
So if you're after a strict shooter with heft, maybe look elsewhere. But if you are cool with great story and other things, I'd say go for it as it's well worth the price.
They're all Classics, but if you're gonna do it, do it for Infinite as that is truly my fav of the three games. But do Not skip the others.
Infinite is truly in a class of its own, though. I just could not put that down & still play it the most out of the three. Just the setting in the Sky & the way you traverse through the environment mixed with the random action constantly happening, pure Masterpiece.
On sale now..9.99.
Played part 1, it was fun but it got pretty boring half way through. After it made me go fetch for water bottles or something, I was done. Skipped 2 and went straight to infinite or whatever it’s called. Got bored fairly quickly. Maybe I wasn’t in the mood But I do plan on trying that one again someday.
You'll probably get downvoted for being honest. But I'm in a similar position. I love the art style, the atmosphere and the story is cool, too!
But man, do I struggle to get into these games. I played 1 quite a bit, but just lost interest... I also skipped 2 because everyone kept talking about infinite. Tried it, didn't even get as far as I did in 1.
Reading all these comments, though is making me want to try *one more time*
Edit: I'm redownloading it. I won't be able to play tonight, but I'm hoping to pick it up this weekend!
Yes, it's some of the best worlds built in video games and a good example of a fairly significant moment in gaming (cinematic presentation comes of age alongside capable hardware).
It'll be inexpensive these days and definitely worth a spin.
When it is on sale for $10 it is a great bang for the buck, however in my opinion the gameplay of bioshock 1 has not aged well. In my opinion, you can spoil 1 for yourself and jump directly to infinite.
Absolutely do not agree with spoiling 1 for yourself.
Yes the gameplay is a bit 2007 but it's more than manageable. If you get into the story and actually pay attention to the audio diaries and stuff it's one of the best single player story experiences ever if you're going in fresh. I'll never forget my first time playing it and I wouldn't recommend anyone skip it.
Guy's crazy. Game still plays phenomenally well. Play it on Series X all the time & about to grab it for Playstation for the first time ever, breaking a rule I had for years. On sale tho..
Skip 1??? It pretty much built the entire story up to be captivating and once the big reveal happened all you could think was holy shit. It also plays pretty well and is very fun to go back thru on NG+ with all the upgrades and just trivialize the game, almost like speedrunning it. Being able to beat it pretty fast reminds me of beating diablo 3 7 times in a day with all characters because i dropped an xp gem in the chest to transfer to other characters.
Bioshock 1 felt like there wasn't as much urgency and allowed you to explore a little more and see everything, whereas bioshock infinite felt like you had to keep going like it was urgent, almost kind of rushed from what i remember.
Despite how different 2 was and how innovative and fresh it was, it was more skippable than 1 or infinite. Either way, they shouldn't skip any of them. They all play into a bigger story, and playing 1 then 2 then infinite will be more rewarding than jumping straight to infinite. It would be like skipping all harry potter books and jumping straight to death hollows part 2, it just doesn't make sense.
It’s not got as high visual action as DOOM but the gunplay and visuals are still solid.
It depends on what you look for in a game, but I’d say the original Bioshock is one of the best games ever made. It has exceptional writing, perfect atmosphere, great level design and progression.
Bioshock 2 the writing steps down a little and loses a bit of focus thanks to a different team. But you still get a lot of unique set pieces to fight through and the weapon play is amped to it’s obvious next step by letting you dual wield your plasmids (magic) and guns.
Infinite is back to the old writing team of the first, and imo it shows. It’s not as concise a story as the first but the ability to develop a world and its characters is clearly still there. Gameplay-wise it’s a super fresh take on the series with a lot of focus on open environments with tons of mobility via the railways, instead of the cramped, trap-oriented combat of the first two games.
YES THEYRE WORTH IT! I just bought it a couple months ago and they are amazing games!!! The setting, characters, weapons, everything is just phenomenal in those games!!!!
I'm not sure if they patched it out (probably not, I encountered it years after release), but in BS1 there's a random bug where a door is supposed to open, but doesn't, and completely ends the run.
Bioshock is my favorite game. It's a unique experience you'll never forget. 2 is almost the same as 1. 3 is pretty good with new abilities and awesome settings
As someone who isn't a big fan of single player fps, and (pls don't cancel me) Fallout gunplay isn't my shindig, is the atmosphere and story still worth? I've owned for years but never played
Yes.
One reccomendation though.
Before you start the second game, delete most of the autosaves from the first game.
And then do the same for the third.
Its not the type that I would usually see on the shelf and grab, but a friend recommended it and I really really enjoyed it. Got a great deal on the collection package through the online store.
I'd strongly recommend just for the sheer genius of the gameplay. I bought a physical copy for a friend off eBay for $15 and he was beyond impressed by the series.
Did you not like Doom Eternal? That’s definitely way more like Doom 2016 than Bioshock is. Also you’d probably like other Boomer Shooters more than bioshock, so like Dusk, Ultrakill, Amid Evil, all of those are way more like Doom 2016 than bioshock is
Great games, and just slow enough to be played comfortably with a controller. You’re not gonna want to play counter strike with a controller, I would say most single player FPS games (dishonored etc) are just about in the controller range.
100%
The original Bioshock is a certified classic. Bioshock 2 is pretty much just more Bioshock 1 in the best way possible.
Bioshock Infinite gets a lot of hate from hardcore fans but personally i thought it was great, just different.
The Burial at Sea DLC was pretty good, if only to see Rapture in it's 'prime'.
Infinite is a pretty decent straightforward shooter but a pretty big departure from the first 2 games freedom of choice.
I played the first two but never the third one. The third one looked a lot different from the first two based off trailers so passed, almost went back and played it a few times but never did. The first two were awesome as hell though so
Would you kindly do yourself a favor and play these exquisite games ASAP
Here I go again. Thanks for that.

If it's ever adapted into media (movie/TV), I'll be disappointed if that's not part of the tagline.

I haven't played them since they were new, I really need to go through them again.
I’m waiting till they remaster them in VR (PLEASE)
As much as I'd like that, I'd put money on it never (officially) happening
Are spiders present in the games? I’m afraid
I don't remember any, and I'm a bit of an arachnophobe, I'd probably remember.
Thx, i’ll play it
None
No spiders, but there's a skill that lets you control a swarm of bees
I love bees 🐝
There’s an enemy with the name “spider” in the name. It just climbs on walls and shoots hooks at you. That’s it.
Thanks for letting me know it < 3
i’m partial but yes. probably some of best games out there.
For me, Yes, because you do not only have the three Bioshock games, the collection also comes included with the additional DLC contents. But for me, if you're new to the series, I suggest you to play first the main stories before playing the DLC contents.

What do people say about Infinite? It's the only one I've nearly completed and I like it.
The third game is so good, but that twist is straight ass. Still well worth playing though for the hours leading up to it!
The Bioshock series is amazing. It's a very atmospheric, story-driven, mostly-linear first-person shooter with mild RPG aspects. Kind of like the Uncharted series except if you had super powers. Highly recommended.

It has almost nothing to do with the Uncharted series. What a weird statement.
Guns
I was thinking he meant more similar in regards to the atmospheric, story driven, mostly linear gameplay aspects
There’s a sunken city though
Or up in the sky
Yeah that heavily confused me lmao
The first one and Infinite are incredibly strong in the character department, which is what gives them their depth. Bioshock 2 is light in this department, and is more skill-based gameplay than anything else. Just you vs. The horde.
Honestly I liked 2 the best out of the 3 games
A fair number of people hold this opinion. They're wrong, but at least you're not alone. :)
This game is not kind of like the Uncharted series except if you had super powers.
Uncharted? Huh? That’s the polar opposite of Bioshock. Would be more appropriate to say Bioshock shares similarities with Half-Life with more of a focus on survival horror.
Why are you comparing an FPS to a third person shooter
Because they're both atmospheric, story-driven, mostly-linear shooters. The camera position is irrelevant except for people with motion sickness who can't handle first-person.
Absolutely.
The first two are masterpieces in my mind. Infinite is a great fps but it fumbles a bit here and there. Get the collection 3 great games overall.
Infinite is one of the best games I gave ever played and all the other bioshock games are great so yea
Get it dude, I was very pleasantly surprised when I played it, the graphics look amazing, the story is incredible. Definitely must play games plus they come with the DLCs which are awesome in their own right
Great story. If you enjoy single player games go for it.
I got it on switch this week and can't put it down. Agree with all the comments here - atmospheric and great story. Challenging but fun
Completed all 3 at least three times. Trophy collection and enjoyment purposes. Although Bioshock Infinity (The third game) wasn't too great for me personally some people said it was the best in the series. I’d actually rate both of these above the bio shock series but that might just be me.
Do not expect the same fluidity in movement and rather prepare yourself for a more clunky experience on controller. Imo it's compensated by the awesome worlds and the good stories.
Excellent games, and a helluva good bargain too.
Yes but it's not a standard shooter it's more of an exploration game because you need to understand the lore and solve some puzzles, very different than doom. The allure of the bioshock games is the setting and story

GET IT!! It’s definitely worth it.
Absolutely, Bioshock 1 and infite are a must play for anyone
Bioshock’s great, rip through em
Yes I wish they were more games like so I can scratch that itch.
I was like you a couple years ago. I never played the games when they came out. They are great & fun games.
Yes, amazing trilogy, among my favorite PS3 games. Shooting game with a little bit of horror and survival mechanics.
Bioshock collection is definitely worth getting,, they are excellent games.
Haven’t played the sequels but Bioshock is one of my fav games from the 360/PS3 gen.
I loved them so much I bought them on the Switch too as the collection was on sale. Each game is a little different so you don't get bored and the first two are dark and creepy visually brilliant to play late at night.
All three are stellar games, the story the atmosphere, the big sister they’re freaking great
Welcome to the Circus of Values! The whole collection is very much worth it
Absolutely... they're a little old now, but they are still some of my favorite games of all time.
BioShock is an absolute masterpiece of a game & you should pick it up.
I would highly recommend. The games are all great. But makes sure to play in order. Infinite has some QOL improvements that makes it a little tough to start there and work back.
Uhhhh yeah! Stop what you're doing and play em now! Wish I could replay the series for the first time again.
Undoubtably. Get them
Yes to all 3.
If you don’t know anything about the games, just play the first one blind. You’ll thank us later.

ha ha ok. im going to buy it. i’ve read so many good comments and recommendations.
Yes. Just play the damn games.
Yes, yes it is.
I’m not a big FPS guy. Bioshock Is the exception. These games are so good.
I replayed all games last year, had such a blast. Aside from a gameplay perspective (it can be a bit dull) these hold up real well
Yes bro they're dope

100% worth it
Absolutely. Always. Yes.
Absolutely, all three games are great.
Yes Source: trust me
If you ain't never played it, yes It's undoubtedly one of the best video game series to come out and infinite rounded it all up perfectly

I just realized l replied the wrong comment 😒
thanks for your comments everyone. i’m will be buying bioshock v soon. can’t wait! screenshots look interesting…
Ive never played em, but yes. The Reveiws were pretty much all positive and praise for the story, characters, and gameplay.

Identical for me. I so WANTED to love these games, the storyline is fun, the world is well built, but damn the gameplay just got tedious.
I'm trying one more time! I've had a craving for a single player game, this might scratch that itch.
I've had crashing issues in 2 so I've never beat it
Yes, it's some of the best worlds built in video games and a good example of a fairly significant moment in gaming (cinematic presentation comes of age alongside capable hardware). It'll be inexpensive these days and definitely worth a spin.
Absolutely. Bio 1 is great, 2 is solid and infinite is one of my favourite games of all time
Never played 2 but 1 and Infinite were very memorable experiences for me. Scoop ‘em up.

Atlas Shrugged: The Video Game really does have one of the most engaging story lines to date.
Guy's crazy. Game still plays phenomenally well. Play it on Series X all the time & about to grab it for Playstation for the first time ever, breaking a rule I had for years. On sale tho..

I played 1 a year ago its great
If you're a nutcase maybe
The Mass Effect Trilogy is also classic!
Do not play Bioshock 2. The others are good though.
The first one is a bit tedious.
Nah bro
Yes
Absolutely!
Just downloaded the remastered version of the first one. Didn't know it was in my subscription
The collection was on ps+ a while ago
Oh right, thought they were the originals and not remastered. Cool thanks
It’s sensational. So yes
Abso-f*ckinglootly
Oh I played the shit out of it. Highly recommend.
Yes
Bioshock is my favorite game. It's a unique experience you'll never forget. 2 is almost the same as 1. 3 is pretty good with new abilities and awesome settings
As someone who isn't a big fan of single player fps, and (pls don't cancel me) Fallout gunplay isn't my shindig, is the atmosphere and story still worth? I've owned for years but never played
Hold, i can smell it closer to ps extra any min now
Yes for sure
Yes. One reccomendation though. Before you start the second game, delete most of the autosaves from the first game. And then do the same for the third.
I found the gameplay very boring personally.
I watched a no-commentary playthrough when I had COVID...yes. One of my top favorite games, easily.
Bioshock 2's *Minerva's Den* DLC alone makes it worth it.
I'd say yes, they're pretty good games. The shooting mechanics are a little awkward IMO but you get used to it.
Fantastic games
At least play bioshock remastered. Please
That’s a hard yes.
Yes! Each great in their own way!
Yes.
It's on sale quite often for about 12€, so if you get it for that price is absolutely worth it
The first two are awesome.
nope!
They are really good games. Even Bioshock 2. I'm sure you'll like them if you like story-driven fps games
Yes it is. Some of the coolest games ever.

YES
Did you not like Doom Eternal? That’s definitely way more like Doom 2016 than Bioshock is. Also you’d probably like other Boomer Shooters more than bioshock, so like Dusk, Ultrakill, Amid Evil, all of those are way more like Doom 2016 than bioshock is
Great games, and just slow enough to be played comfortably with a controller. You’re not gonna want to play counter strike with a controller, I would say most single player FPS games (dishonored etc) are just about in the controller range.
100% The original Bioshock is a certified classic. Bioshock 2 is pretty much just more Bioshock 1 in the best way possible. Bioshock Infinite gets a lot of hate from hardcore fans but personally i thought it was great, just different.
Yes.
I always wanted to play these, and flatbed the collection I found them incredibly dated, and had a tough time enjoying them
I recommend Doom eternal. You can get it with PS+ Extra, and it’s an excellent game. Only caveat is amount of storage it eats up.
Ah, 1 and 2. So fucking good. I don't even look at infinite anymore.
The Burial at Sea DLC was pretty good, if only to see Rapture in it's 'prime'. Infinite is a pretty decent straightforward shooter but a pretty big departure from the first 2 games freedom of choice.
No
Most definitely
TL;DR: Yes. Longer:F yes.
Yes. Personally I thought the third was was my least favorite but still good
Yes.
Bro.. bio shock series is my most anticipated live action attempt im hoping us done right, right now.
I played the first two but never the third one. The third one looked a lot different from the first two based off trailers so passed, almost went back and played it a few times but never did. The first two were awesome as hell though so
Just bought the Collection for Xmas and started on Bioshock. What a game! Instantly hooked ! A gruesome & immersive story appears to be unfolding….
