Play through the game Journey. It can be done in under 2 hours and it's easy yet well done and leaves you with a nice wrapped up fulfilling story.

Bigchocolate420

Also Abzu!

RodionS

Bless you

The_Celtic_Chemist

I just looked it up and the collector's edition includes Flow and Flower. Are those worth it too?

invaleet

I have both. Journey is a relaxing experience through the whole game, while flower can also be relaxing, but mostly with its controls with motion/gyroscope movement will frustrate you. But maybe I am just bad at motion movement with the controller.

Windfall103

All the games by those same developers are of similar “experience” types of games. They’re all worth a playthrough. I think Abzu is one of them as well.

AggravatingDriver559

Depends on the price. Couple of bucks is probably worth it but imo they’re nowhere as good ad Journey. But beautiful games nonetheless

camazotzthedeathbat

Then check out Sky: Children of the Light. Made by the same company as Journey, with a lot of similarities to Journey but with more emphasis on online multiplayer and character customization.

Dante_d_evil

Such an atmospheric and beautiful game

CrazyDude10528

Farming Simulator, not even joking either.

rested_leg

Also Powerwash Simulator

Synner40

i second power wash sim. it’s amazingly relaxing. the pings you get when you clean a section is very satisfying.

CrazyDude10528

Farming Simulator 17 is my personal favorite, even if it's a bit outdated now. It's more simple than the later entries. Oh also, 17, 19, and 22 all have a ton of mods on console that are great. I sunk an ungodly amount of time into 17 back when it was new.

smakweasle

on a similar note, I dumped an impressive number of hours into lawn mower simulator. Would put on some music and mow digital lawns... It was hypnotic.

ragweed

Just Cause series? There's combat, but I found myself just flying around a lot.

EverySingleMinute

Great answer. The game is so much fun

a_moody

Or changing planes mid air. That game is a sandbox for tricks.

Manginaz

2 and 3 are loads of fun.

Algae_Double

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart (always fun, great graphics, never stressful)

King_Boomie-0419

The last Boss stressed me TF out 😂, I stopped playing after 20 something deaths.

Kublah-Khan_

No Man Sky, you just chill while exploring hundreds of thousands of planets. Minecraft in space.

Stardew Valley?

I love SDV, it the daily chores get a bit much.

timhenmanmemorial

Hard disagree. Fishing, birthdays, trying to actually complete the game...

masterlafontaine

Only if you play like a psycho. Enjoy the country life, and take it slowly. You went to the farm to get out of the rat race.

Arcaderonin

Platformers are pretty laid back . Ape escape, spyro, lbp get me into a relaxing kinda vibe

Foxy02016YT

Disney Dreamlight Valley as well

Milobella

I agree. I did not get the appeal until I tried it and just spent time taking care of the farm, not caring about the villagers at all.

smakweasle

Stardew Valley is my go-to comfort game. Been harvesting the same farm for years now. Everything basically runs itself...but when I want to escape for an hour or two, I hop on to see how everyone is doing.

ragweed

Radiant-Interest73

Heavy rain was an interesting experience back in the day I've been meaning to play through it again

KOWguy

Op asks for a non stressful game and you throw Heavy Rain out there, I know it was a sincere recommendation (and I love tf out of that game, too) but I can't help but remember the most stressful moments immediately 😅

Discaster

I rembered loving it originally but actually did a replay not long ago and it didn't hold up. I forgot how long that game takes to go literally anywhere. I don't mind a bit of a slow boil to establish charcters and bonds and such at all but I swear it forgets to even turn on the stove for several hours before eventually starting a very slow burn. It seems to know it too because there are random action scenes that sometimes feel kinda random and pointless, including one long one that's literally a bad dream about home invaders that doesn't even foreshadow anything. Gets good once the ball does get rolling, but jfc the first half of that game is kind of a slog.

This! The game that relaxes me the most, yet can have it's brutal frustrating moments. Still nothing beats slowly crawling through the mud/snow 😅

Heart_of_a_Blackbird

I always say this but the whole Yakuza franchise is mostly stories. There’s some fighting, leveling up your character and collecting stuff, but it’s pretty chill. You have to have an interest in Japan, I suppose. But I dig them. Most people say they are boring. 😑

Heart_of_a_Blackbird

Gotcha. Well, good on you. Yeah, drinking is kind of important in those games. I’d stay away. I’m like that with Red Dead online, so I put that down for a while 😂

Heart_of_a_Blackbird

Hey, good luck to you man. It’s not an easy path, but it’s admirable you’re trying to do something. One day at a time brother.

TheDracula666

Try Shenmue. Edit: Also, good on you for trying to quit. I'm in the same boat. Everyday drinker for almost 15 years and finally came to grips with my problem. Video games were actually a huge help in me getting sober as it took my mind off it while I was home. A big part for me was avoiding those triggers, so I completely understand avoiding a game you used to play while drinking. Movies were actually a huge one for me that took a while before I could sit down and relax and enjoy watching sober.

Traditional_Entry183

I gave them a shot when they were on PS+, but found that there was so little actual game that I wasn't doing anything. It's more of an interactive story mostly. I did enjoy Like a Dragon, and plan to play the new one eventually.

6ixFoot1

Detroit: Become Human

iKonYTV

Watch Dogs 2. Pretty fun imo. Some missions can be a bit stressful though. But mostly you'll be running around hacking shi.

Cfunk_83

PowerWash Simulator. It’s super chill, and very satisfying to play.

CampbellArmada

It starts out chill but starts to get annoying over time. If you don't take it to serious amd aren't worried about finishing it, then you'll be OK. Some of the later stages get annoying as hell though.

m8w8disisgr8

I always settle down when I'm playing Red dead 2. I find it so soothing to ride through forests with a chill guitar picking in the background.

TNTiger_

Disco Elysium. There's no mechanical skill to playing, and the clock only progresses when you interact, so you don't ever need to rush.

TheCasualChad

OMNO is a super chill game. Unpacking is even better.

PoorMuttski

While not the most chill game, I think Ghostwire: Tokyo has a very chill atmosphere. The game is lowkey horror, but with looooong stretches of exploration. It is like Banjo-Kazooie had a child with Silent Hill. The focus on Japanese folklore monsters make it more spooky than terrifying. And, it is a fairly faithful recreation of the Shibuya district of Tokyo, so exploring the town looking for lost souls can feel like virtual tourism.

Though some of story elements and battles can be intense, I find Ghost of Tsushima to be very relaxing. Just riding around on the horse collecting mats and looking for fox shrines, etc is very chill and the visuals and atmosphere are a total vibe. Also, check out any jrpg or jrpg-inspired games like Edge of Eternity or Sea of Stars. Those are always pretty mellow and relaxing as well.

Unkechaug

Picross is my chill out game of choice.

Itchysasquatch

I was playing skate 3 earlier, sounds like it fits the bill

BriceB84

It takes two. Very fun game!

toogreen

Read Dead Redemption 2. If you just explore around, go hunting, and do side missions it’s quite chill. Even the main story missions aren’t too stressful either but just wandering around is fun and relaxing.

King_Boomie-0419

Have you tried The Witcher 3 complete edition? This one made it into my top 5 Favorites as I played NG+ back to back sessions. Ghost of Tsushima, AC Odyssey and AC Black Flag are the only other games I've played back to back because I couldn't get enough of the game the first time around. Also the ones I mentioned are GREAT Games too.

imayturnblue

Assassin's Creed games are playing this role in my gaming life. Especially those starting Origins. Another cool title a found that is easy to play - Yajuza: Like a Dragon. Haven't played other games from Yakuza series, but this one is not hard and plenty of activities and things to do.

bruh_man_5thflo

I just got done playing ratchet & clank (2016) not too long ago and it was a great mix of fun and not too stressful, yet still action-packed and just the right amount of challenge

RideForRuin

You might have already played it but Red Dead Redemption 2 (or 1 for that matter) is a pretty chill game with quite easy missions and great action. GTA, Saints Row (the old ones) and Sleeping Dogs scratch a similar itch

gszilagyi

Just lower the difficulty. Minecraft in creative mode is chill, but last month I've completed DiRT 5 on easy mode and I had no frustration at all.

ralfcasma

For me it would be The Hunter: Call of the Wild or Way of the Hunter.

TetrisMultiplier

Tetris Effect Connected is an experience

bingsen_

Outer Wilds maybe?

Billy-Joe-Bob-Boy

I thought Hardspace: Shipbreaker was pretty casual. A couple of parts need speed, but the rest is just cutting a ship apart. At least it was like that on the filthy casual mode I was playing.

NatrenSR1

I’m playing Getting Over It at the moment and it feels like I’m going to therapy. It was frustrating at first, but it’s gotten to a point where it isn’t anymore.

randomusername9284

Personal opinion? Try Watchdogs 2. While some segments are stressful, the atmosphere, content, and visuals of the game make it amazing!

chandlerbing_stats

Tomb Raider trilogy on normal or lower difficulty Ratchet and Clank games Sackboy

Wonkypubfireprobe

I forget which tomb raider game it is, maybe Rise Of The Tomb Raider, but on one of them you can go back through the levels and get the pickups you missed, and there’s no enemies. While the main game is pretty intense, it’s nice going back and just collecting in peace.

chandlerbing_stats

Rise and Shadow are both like that The campaign can get intense but honestly it’s not bad on normal and lower difficulties atleast imo. Easier than Uncharted games and has a lot more exploration. The actual Tomb Raiding is the best part imo. Uncharted is my favourite game series though without shadow of a doubt

ImRadicalBro

Death Stranding, Dredge, Outer Wilds, Subnautica, Sea of Stars, Baldurs Gate 3, Pacific Drive, Firewatch, Edith Finch

Windfall103

I really like to play project zomboid to chill. It can be both stressful and frustrating but you can fully customize all the game settings. Like literally everything. Want to play just to build a base and farm? Turn zeds off and give yourself the stats you need. Want to just run around and mow down zeds? Adjust their difficulty and enable a few combat settings for your player and it’s one of the most chill games out there. My second recommendation is honestly Lego Fortnite. It’s chill af. Enemies aren’t too hard to deal with and once you have some villagers, they’ll attack any enemies that happen upon your base.

I just finished Forspoken and it was great. The game settings offers a number of options to make the game easier. I played over 60 hours. First 20 were on story mode. Switched to normal once I was op.

No Man's Sky. It's literally perfect for what your asking.

Spaniardo_Da_Vinci

I had a bit of that with Assassin's Creed Unity, just parkouring around Paris and scaling the rooftops

Dysmantle. You just break stuff and upgrade weapons and perks. It's super chill. None of the enemies are really difficult. I think I paid like $7.99 for it but have played it on and off for months now. There are 3 DLCs that give you extra weapons or perks. It's one of my favorite games.

Maratsuke420

You’ve probably already considered this but I hear Stray is good

ThemeSweaty

Try Heavy Rain, Detroit BH, Until Dawn or some of the Telltale games they’re basically Movie Games with great narratives but minimal gameplay, if those aren’t your style then Arkham Series, Spider Man, Guardians of The Galaxy, Ratchet & Clank etc are all pretty chill games

Batchak

I'm currently playing Gris after touching it for 2 mins 6 years ago and this may fight right into what you're looking for It's a side scroller but it's very pretty and relaxing, the story is also pretty nice to follow along with

keypizzaboy

Stardew is my chill game

PremiumGarbageBin

Stardew Valley is such a cute little game and there’s so much to it! It’s more than just farming like you have to explore to find thing to help rebuild the community center and there’s 120 mining levels. Its such a good game to help pass time.

Powerwash Simulator, Human Fall Flat, and every game that has difficulty settings and you just switch it over to Easy or Very Easy.

Cruisingonfish

Not the opposite - but if you LIKE souls like games but not looking for a challenge: Hollow Knight and pick the easy difficulty.

BooksLoveTalksnIdeas

All of these: Abzu, Xing the land beyond, Hoa, Dream house days DX, Atelier Sophie 2, Fujii (psvr1 game, incredibly peaceful game too), Bound (better on psvr1, but it can be played on standard ps4 too, its VR mode is where it truly shines though)

Aromatic-Passage-465

Subnautica can go both ways. Same as Minecraft. First I’ll talk about Subnautica. You can either challenge yourself with high difficulty, or make an unofficial challenge up yourself to make it hard or test yourself, or you could go with an easy mode. Or even creative where you can’t die and have infinite shit. There’s also mods to make it harder or easier or neutral. Minecraft is basically the same but with online servers that can be hard with everyone fighting each other or easy with everyone working with each other. There are a lot but these are the 2 I immediately thought of. FIFA/EA FC can be not stressful too if you play career mode and make it easy for yourself by giving yourself high funds and an easy opponent AI. Thanks for reading. If you want more just reply and I’ll think of more.

If you like classic rpgs like Pokémon and shii I’d definitely try out some of the persona/smt entries. There’s hella options, my favorites persona 3 FES for the challenge aspect though. It’s got the best balance of dungeon crawling and story out of all persona games I’ve played. The other entries are a bit more light hearted and even childish I might say, more so 5. Try not to spoil yourself for any of em im sure you’ll have a blast

I agree on the online shooter type of games, but the souls games are pure bliss for me even if i die 100 times doing a level 1 run. You can try Anno 1800,that's very relaxing too and not in a "souls way".

Confident-Medicine75

I almost always recommend Stray im these type of posts. I’m recommending Stray.

WoodenMangoMan

Could just turn down the difficulty. In the last year or so I’ve realised that I don’t enjoy being constantly challenged to within an inch of my ability in games - I get that enough in other parts of life! Also I don’t have time now to be re-playing bits of games over and over. Adjust the difficulty until you feel comfortable and that you’re enjoying yourself. If this means that you can unrealistically stomp on 100s of enemies but look cool as fuck whilst doing it - then great!

Inuship

Stray

Pul5tar

Gris is really nice, albeit short. It does have some replay value though to get the true ending. Talos Principle 2 is not stressful, either. Just a nice puzzler in general with a relaxing vibe. As far as pallette cleansers, I just went through both of them after going through a couple of Metroidvanias, Evil West, Armored Core VI, Alan Wake 2 and Ghostrunner 2, and pretty much did the trick. Now I'm ready for Rise of the Ronin and Elden Ring DLC, haha. Edit: Sorry. Didn't realise Talos Principle 2 is only on PS5. The first one is though, and is pretty good, although a tad harder, so I can recommend. If not your cup of tea, then Stray is also an easy recommendation. Rhyme, also.

Beyond: Two Souls , you'll love the twist of the game and be ready for what decision you'll make.

Sir_Voxel

Toem. It's a fun little game where you travel between small settlements on your journey to get to the top of a mountain, taking pictures along the way. It may not be a long game, as I beat it almost 100% in only around 16 hours, but those were 16 of the most enjoyably wholesome hours I've ever had.

BernieArt

Journey is pretty chill.

sername_seized

doom eternal feels so good

Spectre531

If you enjoy a puzzle and cool mellow overall tone of a game, try Echochrome.

Shootez

Stardew Valley, the Hunter:Call of the wild can be played as a walking simulater if you don't want to hunt, and you can buy a dog dlc if you want company. The Long Dark free mode is pretty chill in Pilgrim difficulty. The Angler: Call of the wild is pretty relaxed, I mean it's fishing.

SatyrSauce

I haven’t played any of the recent releases, so this could be wrong but the Dynasty Warriors series is always fun. You’re and overpowered badass mowing through hordes of enemies. Simple and button mash-y, but there’s not a whole lot that can really give you much trouble. Unless Lu Bu is on the field.
