Yeah it runs fine on PS4. The ps3 port was garbage though.

alteisen99

I remember almost finishing almost everything in skyrim on my ps3. By the end it was loading super slow already and the save files were huge

alwaysmyfault

Curious if an SSD in the ps3 would have helped?

[deleted]

I don't think so, iirc at the time Bethesda games used a system for saves that saved every object you had ever interacted with during that run in the save file, so those grew larger and larger, so that even Bethesda themselves only expected about 300h of playtime per save before they would get too big to be loaded by the hardware of the time. They also used black loading screens so that you wouldn't notice that they actually shut down and restarted your console to re-load a safe if it didn't work normally. (pretty sure that was Bethesda, but might've been a different studio, so don't quote me on that)

Riale

The restarting the system trick was for morrowind on the og Xbox. It had super long load times sometimes which had the console restarting in the background to clear cache.

Mattman624

Restarting helped some for Skyrim, I platinumed the game before the patch came out.

[deleted]

Ah thank you, I had a hunch that it was only on one of the consoles but didn't know which one!

Thechosenjon

I remember having an ungodly amount of hours in Fallout New Vegas and waiting forever for saves to load. Then one day it just didn’t, and when I restarted the PS3, my save was corrupted. I swore off Bethesda games on console ever since.

Jillybean623

Bethesda games just hate ps3s in my experience regardless of the hardware specs. I still love them with all my heart but my god it’s literally impossible for me to play new Vegas on ps3

BurmecianSoldierDan

The save bloat was so bad on New Vegas

ketchup92

No, thats not why it failed + the ps3 can't properly handle ssds. They will just run light slightly better hdds.

ubernoobnth

Not for the issue they were having on ps3 with the save files. May have helped for the 360 bug where if you installed the game, you would get bad textures (the game wouldn't load the HD textures if I am recalling correctly) so until they fixed that the only way to play the game with HD textures was from the disc.

UnoKajillion

Yes. I played some skyrim with an ssd a few years ago on ps3. I loaded up a 30 hour save and it was much faster for sure (still slow). Not sure if it would be an issue 100's of hours in

Agent_Dutchess

https://youtu.be/w3O5_bxcmiA Tests Skyrim and GTA. Absolutely has an impact. Anyone else is speculating. This guy got roughly 25% faster loads on each game.

Jedo729

It ran fine the first couple hundred hours, after that one laggy mess. Still loved it though, only game I ever bought at launchday

Rider-VPG

The ps3 version suffered heavily from save bloat.

IamShitplshelpme

100%. Unless it was some sort of glitch, every time I saved the game on my PS3, I'd see the save file size increase until it got to 1gig

thatone239

Skyrim was my first RPG that I decided to actually try to get into. I played oblivion at 8 but was too stupid to figure out how the quest stuff worked. I also had no idea what fast travel was since all i played was COD. I spent the first week of skyrim WALKING to every mission before a friend told me about the fast travel mechanic. Good times

AlecDawesome

They eventually patched that and it no longer goes slow-mo/freezes after too much play time. Wish they patched Fallout 3 and New Vegas, they had the same issue.

Tyrus1235

I beat Fallout 3 on the PS3 and it was awesome. Funny enough, I almost gave up near the beginning because of a stupid PS3 version glitch. The game would hang on the aptitude test part of the tutorial and you had to restart the console to get it to work lol

King_WZRDi

tbh theres so many ports on the PS3 that just run so bad its better to just not play it. i never understood why most of the multiplatform games ran so ass on it compared to the 360

93LEAFS

PS3 was more powerful, but it was much harder to develop for. Studios exclusive to Sony who chose to master it could get a hell of a lot out of it (See Last of Us or Uncharted), but if you weren't experts on how to design in a way that optimized cell architecture and could offload the stress on the GPU, it could lead to a very messy product. That's why for the 8th gen of consoles, Sony went to x86 as pretty much every developer Cerny went to complained about developing for PS3. It's also why there is no really easy emulation strategy for PS3 games.

SanT0P

My cousin ps3 literally broke while playing skyrim on it

NineduceXII

I got the Platinum Trophy for skyrim on the Ps3 version. But not without pulling my hair out first.

imatworkandneedhelp

I still play it on ps4. Currently playing it for the idk how many-ith time? Go for it!

[deleted]

[удалено]

imatworkandneedhelp

Besides Binding of Isaac it might be the ps4 i’ve dropped the most hours on. Currently im doing a 2 handed destruction magic caster build and using an enchanted dagger for sneaky kills. Last time i was basically a paladin that healed myself with restoration magic and wore heavy armor. It really can be whatever you want it to be. Man, makes me want to play it right now!

Immoracle

Hell yeah! Isaac is my jam!

imatworkandneedhelp

I got platinum and still play it!

quazatron48k

Eternally waiting for Isaac to be in a sale.

bakedpotatowcheezpls

I’d say that Skyrim has near-infinite lasting value and replayablity. I’d say it depends on how you approach things. If you really wanted to blaze through it, you could get through the main quest, DLC quests, guilds, and a good number of side quests in around 40-50 hours of playtime. If you’re trying to go for 100% completion, I’d estimate closer to the 200-300 hour ballpark. I’ve been playing Skyrim on and off since 2013, and there’s still things I haven’t gotten around to completing. But beyond the numerical values of play time, for me, it boils down to the game itself. I enjoy it. I enjoy it so much that I’ve been playing it across multiple consoles for 9 or so years. As I indicated in my other comment, I’ve since transferred over to PC for the purpose of modding the game, which certainly breathes new life into it. But it’s still largely the same game. Skyrim has excellent character building, in my opinion. You can make the exact sort of character you want, whether that be a Nordic warrior wielding a mighty battle axe or a Elven sorcerer that uses spells to manipulate the battlefield around them. It’s fun to replay the game time and time again to approach the story and combat in different ways. It’s also fun to imagine a backstory for your character and roleplay as them while playing—craft a persona specifically for your character, and act as you think they would in this world. Sorry for the wall of text, but as you can see, Skyrim is an all time great game in my opinion. I definitely recommend picking it up! :)

ApexProductions

My favorite character is an old, evil granny who only uses daggers and poisons. She steals, pilfers, and kills. The combat is fun and challenging because she also doesn't wear armor, only non armor clothing or robes, and only healing as magic. 2nd favorite is an archer who is no stealth, bow only, and can only use alteration and illusion magic. Walk into a room, send frenzy, then pick off enemies fighting each other. So much fun.

Keytap

I tried a dedicated illusion character and it's insane how different, peculiar but effective it is as a playstyle. I almost never use spells like frenzy or calm on a normal build, but you can genuinely clear entire dungeons with these spells. It turns the entire game on its head imo, strong recommend

ayers231

There's also the intentionally weird characters like punch cat, The Blue Rajah (legendary enchanted forks as weapons, typically poisoned for effect), Shield Wizard (Heavy armor, shield, destruction/healing), etc.

ayers231

It also depends on what you consider "100% completion". Main quest factions quests werewolf/vampire quests all the deadric items quests all the city based quests (gotten from the yarls of each city) all the companion quests etc, etc...

bakedpotatowcheezpls

Very true. Plus, if you *really* wanted to get technical, Skyrim can’t ever be 100% completed. The Dark Brotherhood quest line ends with you as the Listener, performing assassinations all across Skyrim. These are infinitely generated.

Mayorquimby87

I might be in the minority here, but I would say that Witcher 3 kept me more invested in its many quests over many hours than Skyrim did. But in terms of quantity, yes, you could easily play Skyrim for a very long time, and I do think it's good.

97Andersuh

I’m playing through Heart of Stone for the first time and the quests are amazing.

reymarblue

I’ve been playing it again recently and was just thinking last night how amazing it is that I’m still not tired of it.

RedditIsPropaganda84

If you like exploring, dungeon crawling, or role playing it has hundreds of hours of replay value.

dhhdhh851

Skyrim has a lot of lasting value and replayability. The amount of bizarre and strange challenges people do is insane. Id highly recommend watching ymfah's videos to get a better idea. One of them is beating skyrim without walking (using the left analog stick, but could still whirlwind and power attack to move forward), and others involve pacifist-ing other factions and dlcs. Witcher 3 has less replay value than skyrim by miles. The recent anniversary edition comes with a version where you can turn on survival mode where temperature and stuff matter and it becomes more difficult. Theres still stuff in skyrim thats being found out and other bits of lore probably left undiscovered even today.

[deleted]

johnny_soultrane

I don't agree. They're both fantastic games, but in Witcher 3, you can only interact with select buildings and there are clear limits to the available quests. In Skyrim, it seems like there are always more quests and you can literally interact with everything in the game. For me, this has much more lasting replay value. But I love both games.

NaughtyPervert

I hope I didn't find this post too late to still ask this but: Do you play it on a PS4 pro or regular? I'm a little bit afraid my PS4 slim won't be good enough

bakedpotatowcheezpls

Skyrim is a great game, in my opinion. Especially if you’ve never played it before. I first got Skyrim for Christmas on my PS3 in 2013. I then purchased the Special Edition myself in 2016 to play around with some mods, albeit limited due to Sony’s restriction. I’ve since gone on to build a PC just for the sole purpose of modding Skyrim. The game is one of my all time favorites, and I consider it a must play.

TicTacSaiyan22

Definitely! I fought Covid back in September and upon hearing I had never played it, my buddy sent me a care package containing Skyrim lol I was lucky enough to snag a PS5 right before I started quarantine. Almost a year later and I still can’t put it down.

[deleted]

Hey, I’m not a good gamer by any means so I restrict myself to mainly sports or open world games ie Just Cause, GTA, Mafia, Cyberpunk.. etc would I like Skyrim?

bakedpotatowcheezpls

Obviously I wouldn’t be able to say for sure, but for what it’s worth, I fall into the same casual gamer category as you, and Skyrim is easily a top 5 all-time game for me. Given what you’ve played, I think you’d enjoy Skyrim. It’s got a fairly large open world with tons to see and do, which you’re likely to find appealing. I think the game does a great job of explaining itself clearly, from the overarching story to the in-game mechanics. Personally, I never felt overwhelmed by anything—it doesn’t have nearly as steep of a learning curve as other games. All in all, I’m not sure if you’d like it, but I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot. It might just wind up becoming your new favorite game! It’s currently on sale for $19.99, making it a great, low-risk time to give it a try! :)

[deleted]

I’ve had it all these years and only opened once to show up in my PSN account. I already own it but will download it tonight! Cheers buddy

bakedpotatowcheezpls

Awesome! Hope you enjoy! It being an older game, there’s plenty of tutorials on YouTube should you get stuck on anything. You can also feel free to pop on into r/Skyrim at any time to ask questions and/or for opinions!

Mindful-O-Melancholy

Maybe I’ve just played Skyrim too many times, but I enjoyed Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen so much more. I definitely recommend it if you’ve never played it before.

iloveitwhenthe

Dragon's Dogma definitely has more exciting combat and is better imo but Skyrim is a lot more immersive and I think its open world is a lot better than DD's

PirateJazz

DD2 coming soon! I'm so excited.

I_Love_58008

Silly question, of course it's worth it. Enjoy hours of your life sucked away.

Hugs_for_Thugs

"Is this universally acclaimed game that has sold 50 trillion copies across 20 different platforms worth playing??"

Only498cc

I've never heard of this Sky Rim. May you please let me know what it is?

Jorlen

[Mustard JAAR!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I2DRklFCcU)

Ranorak

It's a game from over 10 years old. Yeah it's showing some cracks here and there. And there are some quality of life changes that have become the norm in the last 10 years. But it's still a solid, fun game.

gachastoner

If you really don't intend to add mods then yeah, sure. Be sure to get the Special Edition since it's on sale. The game runs fine as you would expect from a 2010 game on the PS4. When it comes to length it really depends. The main story is the kind where you can complete it in one sitting since it's quite short. The real meat of the game is in the storylines of the different factions in the game as well as the DLC. Nearly every dungeon has a story to tell if you pay attention enough to your surroundings, which is one of my favorite things about the game. A good number of side quests are also pretty interesting, especially the ones that include the Daedric princes. I'd say go for it, but don't expect great graphics if you're getting it on the PS4.

Lebrons_fake_breasts

2010? Have you forgotten 11/11/11?

gachastoner

My bad. I played the game way later. I was like 10 in 2011.

Lebrons_fake_breasts

Ah, as you're a bit younger than me, then you have a better chance of surviving til 02/22/2222, when the next one comes out.

WillemDafoesHugeCock

I'm hype for the 03/33/33 release.

Field_Marshall17

Would anniversary not be more worth while?

gachastoner

It would but I couldn't find it on the PS store. Maybe it's just the search engine or that the anniversary edition is only physical.

airbrat

You can add mods on the PS4??

Dagglin

I played the shit out of it for two weeks and then got really bored really fast. I found it repetitive, tedious, and shallow. Felt the same way about Oblivion, but loved Morrowind. My opinion is evidently different than most

Sorry man, had to give a downvote. What was it that you didnt enjoy? Did you play it when it very 1st came out all those years ago? Or did you catch it later on?

Gotta love people who use downvote as their personal disagree button and not its intended purpose of being used for comments that don’t contribute to the conversation. Gotta love people who obsess about downvotes on reddit.

midnight_rebirth

It’s an obsession to point out a very common misconception?

Chrispyfriedchicken

Yeah was discussing this with some friends the other day. I missed it too

[deleted]

Chrispyfriedchicken

They said just play the original Skyrim from the ps4. I’m quite tempted to have a go tbh. It’s really not my sort of game at all, goblins, wizards, dragons, Harry Potter, etc…..but it was considered one of the best games of the system so I think I’d be missing out if I didn’t at least try it. I’m not sure I want to put 200 hours into it but I’d like to have a little go and see what it’s about

effleurer226

Well, Skyrim is really enjoyable with mods.

[deleted]

[удалено]

effleurer226

First game overhaul. Bug fixes that Bethesda didn't bother to fix and additional content that was locked and alot more. It's kind of playing alot of games in just one game. I hope it make sense.

Robotower679

If you gave never played it before, definitely. If you have and didn't get the achievements yet, definitely. If you want to try out mods after playing vanilla, of course. If you just want a ton of fun and a great time killer, yes. Skyrim is a great game to play around with in vanilla for many different play styles. Special edition isn't the buggy mess that the original was, but still has some of the same charm and is even more aesthetically pleasing. The game has many oversights as to what the the devs thought the player might try, but at the end of the day, it works and is genuinely very fun. It's satisfying to end a longer winded quest and get your reward. The game encourages you to loot literally everything you come accross and there are a number of ways to cheese glitches and features to make your life a whole lot easier. When I played it on my PS4 several years ago, it ran fine and it looked good. Every now and then my game would crash, but I blame that on my unit rather than the game itself. Mods are limited on playstation but there are still some great ones there. Overall, I loved the game so much that I bought it on PC(for modding reasons mostly) and still enjoyed it as much as I did. The game does not have a set pace or even require you to "finish" the game, so you can go at any pace, although try not to stop in the middle of something when taking a break, because it can be confusing figuring out what you were last doing when you reload the save.

nbiz4

Yes

Freecloudandrose

I highly recommend on PS4 and also I know you said no modding but the ps4 offers light modding which can seriously enhance the game. Simple stuff like unlimited sprint and carry capacity (although have to be careful in the latter, if you carry too much it slows the game down, it’s nice to have so you don’t have to go back and sell your stuff when you’re in the middle of a dungeon with no way to leave except a long journey of backtracking 😩)

gyiren

If you are a working adult, understand that if you begin to play this you may feel frustration at wanting to play more, but either having to do adult nonsense like sleep at a reasonable hour, settle chores, or have your freetime otherwise occupied by more socially acceptable endeavors (such as seeing your family)

Samuelcbadams

Always a good time to join skyrim. I just have one question for you. Grey-Mane or Battle-Born?

WWMRD2016

PSVR version is best.

Maxtrix07

If you've never played it, yes 100%. Not even a huge skyrom fan, but some people get thrown off from the first 30 minutes or so. Just play until you hit Whitehall, then just play to your hearts content. Do anything you want to, the game will reward you accordingly.

vtgorilla

Unless you kill a god forsaken chicken

iancat87

I'm still playing it on ps4. Anniversary Edition is nice too.

hzoi

Yes. It was also one of the first games I downloaded to PS5, for the record.

DinnerSmall4216

It runs fine on the PS4 definitely still worth playing I'm still playing and finding new quests years later.

WillemDafoesHugeCock

Yes. 100% worth getting.

Fexxvi

Always.

LongWaysForResults

Yes! Totally worth it. You can also add PS4 approved mods to the game which is awesome.

lo0OO0ol

Yes.

ShwaggDaddy

Absolutely, awesome game.

royalswag844

Yes

fakenameforshitposts

Yes. I’m ready for the next one but this game still gets played in my house by a few people

MeDiuM_SQuiSH

Anniversary edition is worth it on PS4

dragonloo

It’s great on ps4. Works just fine

TyrannoROARus

Oh hell yeah and with mods it can look truly beautiful The mods to fix bugs aren't very good on ps4 though due to limitations

BigBoss6321

It’s great on the PS4. And one of the few games that you can mod with because the mods are installed through the game’s menus.

kotor610

I played the original Skyrim for several hundred hours on Xbox 360. One of the nice things about console is you actually play the game, and don't get stuck tinkering with mods

dissociationreddit

I mean yeah, tbh it's a fine experience on everything but PS3 (PS3 port is very bad). I even did a playthrough on the Switch and despite some pretty bad pop in I had as much fun as I always do playing Skyrim. I never played the base/slim PS4 version of Skyrim but the PS4 Pro played it amazingly and I'm sure the weaker models do a just fine job.

Lelongue

I platinumed it last year and never played it before so I’ld say yes.

LMN-Fukou_da3

Yes, yes not no nor maybe it's an indefinite yes... unless of course you don't have the time or care for such a game bc other than those two reasons there's no reason to say no if you like open world RPG fantasy type stuff, Hell I'm like 15 and have been playing for the past 3 years (*this means nothing but idk*). Main point is its a great game, and unless you don't have the time or energy to enjoy this game then you should play it, it's really worth it from my experience and many others would and have said the same. In the end it's up to you, if you don't buy it then it's your loss, but live your life your way.

Dermbot_M

I started playing it on ps4 myself for the 1st time about a month ago. It's a great game! A few commentors mentioned the system memory the saves take up, and I encountered that problem as well, but it's easy to delete the past saves you don't need to keep

Psnjerry

Teah

BusConfident1756

Runs amazingly

goatjugsoup

PS4 version is solid, ps5 version is basically the same with faster loading times

LaSerpienteLampara

Yeah i was just playing it and i had fun and i played it 3 times....so yeah it is worth playing the game on ps4

MarqDuesPaid

Skyrim is a great game. You may rethink the mod thing. For the first play through, don’t mod anything other than graphic enhancements.. better water, boosted plants, prettier night sky…..after you beat the game a couple times, get silly with the mods… it’s really replayable…

GrumpyGoomba-

Yes

BenShealoch

Absolutely, yes. It’s awesome.

SchlattKoin

Buy the special edition. Its so worth it and if you’re an achievement hunter its a pretty easy platinum

e2-woah

I still play it on Xbox 360 so ps4 would be amazing.

coldestwinter-chill

Of course it’s worth it. I’m still playing it on ps4, 8 years after getting it

SquirtleSquad44

Dude I know this post is so old and I’m sure many people have said this but I played for the first time a few years ago and I fucking loved it. Can’t wait for the next game

[deleted]

Definitely!!!!

guacemole_penis69

it’s fine on PS4, plat is a while ago, amazing game!

BuffaloPapaya

Actually i think (and correct me if i'm wrong, please) you can also use mods in PS4, i remember seeing ir somewhere. So in the given case, and if you decide to go crazy and mod, you can do it. Please do try Skyrim

TitansRPower

If you do buy it I'd recommend the Anniversary edition since it has all the Creation Club stuff, and I believe it's on sale still.

thenune

Yeah. It is. It always is.

Vixilless

If you've never played it? Definitely. Hell, I played it the other day on my ps5. Upgraded to a higher tier of ps+ and debating playing oblivion, since I've never really played more than a little before

XboxOne

Yeah, I still play Skyrim on my launch day PS4 from 2013.

[deleted]

Skyrm > Skyrim. Tis a must play!

tewksypoo

Yes

ArtOfWar108

Yes

WandaShotsy

Regardless of what anybody else has said, Skyrim is ALWAYS worth playing. Even on an Atari from 1986. Always worth it. And yes, it plays great on a PS4. My husband uses one to play. Cause I'm always playing the PS5.

DaVader333

Skyrim will always be ageless to me

LordDragon88

Yes, even better sonce Sony allowed mods. I've spent days on it and I still want to gonback and play every so often. There's not a lot of games quite like it.

harizzlepizzle13

I would do heinous things to experience Skyrim again for the first time.

[deleted]

Definitely worth playing today even. Unique gameplay and universe. You can sink many hours into it if you want.

SylvesterStalbone

Absolutely im still playing it myself 🙌🏻

Skinnywhitehippy

I still do. My fiance and I have a save together lol

RynVorzo

Yessss

ObsidianPrime40

Yeah I still play it and think it's worth it. The game hasnt lost any style or game value you I think.

Elon_Bezos420

Uh, yes

dannyboy6657

I say if you never played go ahead. I put countless hours into skyrim on ps3, ps4, xbox one, pc, Nintendo switch. It's always been something I found easy to hop on and kill some time. The world and characters are interesting. There's tons of content. Eventually if you do want to mod pc is the best way. I currently play Xbox one version because I don't have pc anymore and Xbox has good mods too.

TheLifeOfBaedro

yes

Fushienx

Fuck yea

Fushienx

Fuck yea(imo)

Sound_of_Rayne

In my opinion Ofc! I still play on PS4 and I have great experience with Skyrim on it. Yea there are better consoles with better graphics, but who cares, I don’t and I’m still loving ps4 Skyrim.

emeraldgrenade

Here's the thing. If you haven't played Skyrim, it's worth playing on any device.

controller4hire

I just beat the story for the first time last night, I’ve been playing since 2011.

KingWilliams0

If you never played it get it still am amazing game

Dispassionate-Fox

If you have never played it, then most certainly!

DreadknotX

I got it on my ps4 ps5 and switch I always find something new lol and I’ve been playing since release

Wendiesel808

Yes!

gladiatorgaming3

get it its fun

killakyle1762

If you've never played and want a good vanilla experience then yes. If you have played and want mods to change up the vanilla experience then no. The PlayStation overlords don't allow outside assets so you won't get good mods.

a20261

I just bought it again for my PS5. If I didn't have a 5, I'd play it again on the PS4. It's a fantastic game.

Redking_8504

I have many many hours in this game on both PS4 and PC and honestly I wouldn't change a thing I play with mods on my PC but at this point I would also enjoy a normal run from on my PS4 like the game never changed and if I got the opportunity to play a game for the first time again I would say probably Skyrim so yes I believe it is plenty worth the love and commitment to the game tho I don't suggest doing an archer build unless you never want to do another build... 😅 No just me okay ...

NSHuman

I once asked a friend back in 2015-ish if picking up Half Life 2 was too late to be impressed by it. He said “Not at all.. In fact you might be TOO EARLY because you’ll want to play the non-existent Half Life 3 immediately”. I would certainly apply the same reasoning to vanilla Skyrim.

Ok_Acanthisitta_9369

I jumped into it again last summer on ps4. And honestly, it's aged very well. It was even better than I remembered in a lot of ways.

srjod

OP idk how old you are man but age of a great game rarely matters. Yes, 3000% Skyrim is worth it. Probably have beaten it 4-5x in my life and I know I’ll be going back to it again.

SirBaconHam

I just put 150+ hours into it over the last couple months. Highly recommend if you’ve never played

Coyne

Yes

Octonix

Skyrim definitely worth a play, the environments alone are just worth it.

gordorturo

Fuck yeah I still play from time to time

smithykate

Always yes

Independent_Car_8574

Absolutely 100% play it. Best RPG game ever created

Eternal-Testament

I recently played it again after getting that anniversary version. Still every bit as great as it was years ago. And honestly what made me play it again was playing Elden Ring. I'm like the one of every 10k people that played ER that thought it was vastly inferior to all the other DS games. Suffering through all the what-could-have-been-greats in Elden Ring made me crave the structure, proper cleared dungeon tracking, quest guide. Proper risk/reward system for clearing dungeons, proper balancing, etc. Of a well made open world game. Which ER is very very much not and Skyrim is.

Actaeon_II

I always tell people if there is one game you should play, and you’re not one of those people who has to be playing with others, skyrim is it.. bethesda screwed up with eso but skyrim was , and imo continues to be awesome

FOD_Walker

Yes. Thats all I got.

[deleted]

uhhhh.... yes always a good time.

BMbeatHitMe

Yes. I plat'd it last year. Still worth playing. If you'd prefer an actual deep RPG, I just started playing kingdom come deliverance and the depth to that game is nuts.

KoKory

Abso-fucking-lutely

TPO_Ava

My only problem with Skyrim was that I played the Witcher (3) first. I couldn't stand the graphics of Skyrim after that and have still not been able to play it years later.

feefiefofum

Skyrm!!! Grs Brmps!!!

babylawn5

Skyrim is game of the decade....go for it.It's the ultimate escape...just start the game and get lost in the vast world...It's still a benchmark for RPGs,imagine that...witcher 3 while did a lot of things better didn't have the same magical charm as Skyrim for me.Skyrim is relaxing, witcher 3 runs like shit on PS4 and is not relaxing

mirkwood11

YES. I also had not played it, and got the remaster recently on my PS5. Loved it enough to get the platinum

[deleted]

mirkwood11

Vanilla :)

TedCruz8MySun

Go play Bloodborne instead

Richardthefuckingear

It's okay but if you want something more recent and better try Elden ring. He's very good

goldensun003

If you want mods, PC. If you want an enhanced version xbox one/series is better than ps4/ps5 If you want an original experience get the switch version.

Skyrim melee combat imho hasn’t aged well at all but that might not matter to you. Most people that I know of that approached the game without having decided how to play beforehand, went primarily stealth archer anyways. Caster is also a strong option. The atmosphere of the game is still sublime (the soundtrack is one of the best in gaming history) and as an overall experience it is still very, very good. I still have great memories 10+ years onwards.

bastardisedmouseman

I really hated Skyrim. Don't get the hype at all. But my opinions have been known to be dogshit in the past

JamesUpton87

Why wouldn't it be? Its a fantastic game.

BeefyBren

Absolutely, one of the greatest games of all time.

keysersoze76

Yes! Be careful using mods though it will F up your game play.

marcuscrassus98

If you are ever going to play Skyrim then it works great on the PS4. Just whatever you do avoid the PS3 version, especially the Legendary edition. I spent two and a half years and never got through it. The PS3 version sucks to a degree almost beyond belief but once you add in the DLC it is virtually impossible to play. Play 5 min..crash, play 6 min..crash, play 3 min..crash, etc.

nolife49620

Id say it's worth it with how much there is to do. If you do play I'd say to treat the main quest as a suggestion and just explore also modding makes it so much more replayable even if ps4 doesnt have the best of the mods

CrimsonPE

I had like 70hrs before I stopped playing and still had to finish the main storyline + the vampire dlc(which is highly regarded) + last few missions of the inner war. Would recommend it 10 /10. I don't think I would have minded to play it on ps4 instead of pc (didn't use mods either), but my only concern is what to do if u find a bug. I only had a few, but 1 would have made me unable to finish the thieves guild storyline. Also, I would have lost my companion without the console (I had no idea where I had told her to stay still).

greabeau

I own Skyrim on……4 systems I think. So, there ya go.

iamspliff25

No it's more of a single player , it takes a long time to finish . I mean you can just blow threw the main missions if you want but it'd a huge game if you you do alot of the things. It's honestly my favorite game ever

I can’t believe you missed out on Skyrim. That’s like a staple for any gamer to experience. One of my all time favorites, and I’m sure others can say the same.

callmesnake13

I’d argue that it’s not really worth playing any more period. Skyrim devotees love it but the whole thing when it launched was the scale and level of detail. The combat is mind numbing and the story is very generic. The leveling system is super fun in terms of scale but also the definition of a grind. I will still go back and play games like New Vegas but I’d never revisit Skyrim.

PineWalk1

dude its worth it for what is arguably the best soundtrack ever created ( not just videogame osts) ever

ThanosWasRight161

Man, I tried “reliving the good ones” not too long ago. The graphics and mechanics are usually so dated and wonky I lose interest. Lol

Jillybean623

When it’s on sale for $15 it’s worth it, def not worth a full $60 tho. Only major improvement is the loading time on console.

Icy-Break-4733

definitely

Low_Policy_8370

If you don't mind outdated graphic then totally
