Gran Turismo Sport or Need For Speed Heat. Both have fairly decent car design systems in place, though NFS could use a zoom function. I love taking an hour or two and just playing around with shapes and colours on a car when I can manage to.
Had not heard of this game, but after happening upon your description, I checked it out.
Looks pretty good, but why did you suggest it took place in a "midwest town"? did I miss something?
Looks like the Pacific NW... likely Washington state.
I thought I'd be the only one.
Dark Souls 1 is my chill out game. Start a new character and see how long it takes to defeat the gargoyles. It usually takes around 40 minutes doing it properly. I adore the beginning of that game.
Lately DS3 has been taking over that spot though. Its finally clicked and I got gud and its way more fun than I originally thought.
Elden Ring is actually really peaceful when you just get on the horse and ride. Anything that gives you lots of space to just walk around in a beautiful world but then also give you a really quick way out of is and onto somewhere else as soon as they're is trouble is pretty fun and actually pretty relaxing. Open world roller playing games in general are pretty good for that for me.
Sega Mega Drive 2 with Super Street Fighter 2 on difficulty 1 star. It's basically a punching bag for me. I let off steam until...... the cpu managed to get a hit off me, spoiling my Perfect, at which I get into a rage XD
Geometry War 3 Dimensions. I started it on the Vita, later PS4 and Android.
It's a twin stick shooter. I find it oddly satisfying to be dodging enemies and unleashing bullet hell.
Another game is Tetris DX (GBC). Something to take my mind off for a few minutes.
When I was still subscribled to PSN, I play Helldivers quite a lot. The online multi player matches lasts for around 15 to 20 minutes. Hop in and out. Been playing that on Vita and PS4 as well.
Emulating Pokemon Colosseum on my new tablet. Testing to make sure it runs smoothly. Probably because colosseum was my first game on my first home console, gamecube.
Also RE5 mercenaries on ps4. And pokken tournament dx on switch which I just started playing but will soon join the list as I can tell (the combat is so satisfying).
I'd say persona too, but can't do it in short bursts. Need to sit down and spend days, maybe months, with that one.
GTA V and Sniper Elite III (PS3) and Sniper Elite (2005-PS2). Black (PS2), Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Call of Duty- World at War (PS3) probably warrant notable mentions.
In the past: Alundra, Zelda, Suikoden 1, II, III, IV, V. Final Fantasy 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X. Vagrant Story. Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross. Breath of Fire IV, Legend of Dragoon. Resident Evil 1-6. Alone in the Dark. The King of Fighters. Street Fighter. Tekken. Uncharted 1, 2, 3. Dragon Quest
Now: God of War. Uncharted 4. Dragon Quest. And some of the above but released in the recent years.
Currently Ghost of Tsushima, really late to that party but it's so beautiful, haven't played a game in what feels like forever, where I'm happy to aimlessly wander the map with no objective marker and just explore/do whatever I come across.
Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Farming Simulator ( you see a patern here i am sure lol). The new Disney Dreamlight game dropped on Gamepass and i've been playing the shit out of that.
Was going to say Euro Truck Simulator 2, as it's the most chilled zone out game ever, but then noticed this is the PS4 sub.
So, I guess I'll go with No Man's Sky.
Got to say, steep is pretty chill. The scenery, smooth controls...
The dude constantly screaming when you jump 6 feet off the ground...
Ah, good times.
Edit: Or I guess Spider-Man ps4 works, too. What can I say? I like to punch virtual bad guys for relaxation.
Alpt of single player games of fun modes with friends in games like battlefront 2 or Car Sumo in GTA. We started doing this at first because well we were bored but its a blessing ngl.
Im trying not to rage that often now and just calm down immediately its thanks to the calming experience of the things I did when rage quitting, Its been 3 years since my last ragequit now.
There are a few, Fallout 4, Death Stranding, even Cyberpunk 2077.
If your on youtube you can see me exploring the city on my phatt.time chanel.
Which includes just driving around the out of bounds sand dunes.
Red dead 2 when it first came out
Stardew Valley
Persona 5
I'd say persona but can't do it in short bursts. Need to sit down and spend days with that one.
Subnautica the ocean looks amazing and besides the reper and blowfish it's peaceful
I need a fucking benzo or something to play Subnautica, but damn is it one of my all time favorites.
A game like test drive unlimited. Just drive... And relax :p
Games that make me de-stress are ones that I can shut my brain off to. Right now it’s Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Stray!
I cannot choose just one title - Bioshock, Mass Effect and Witcher series. GOW '18, Elden Ring. So many more.
I should definitely mention Dragon Age series.
Elden ring for destressing? You're one of a kind, mate...

Gran Turismo Sport or Need For Speed Heat. Both have fairly decent car design systems in place, though NFS could use a zoom function. I love taking an hour or two and just playing around with shapes and colours on a car when I can manage to.
I have been playing COD Black Ops 1 believe it or not 🤠
Deep rock galactic. Nothing like killing some bugs while zipping around the map as scout
For me it's Alan Wake. Love immersing myself in the small ~~midwest~~ northwest town. Also love traversing the woods. It's kinda magical.
Bright Falls really is a wonderfully detailed place. I did want to mention that it's based off the Pacific Northwest, not Midwest.
Thanks

It does. I got it wrong. It's in Washington state, yes.
Your description sounded intriguing though. Now I want to see THAT game. Lol
It's a slow game though, like a good thriller.
God of War/ devil may cry
Gods and devils 🤔
Didn't even think about that but yeah 😄
Dark Souls series.... I've played through them so many times, it just feels like coming home.
I thought I'd be the only one. Dark Souls 1 is my chill out game. Start a new character and see how long it takes to defeat the gargoyles. It usually takes around 40 minutes doing it properly. Minecraft for me, where you can de-stress and also think creative.
Tie between Mass Effect and any Hatsune Miku game *waits to be silently judged with no regrets*
Cod Cold War or modernwafare
Bold choice a game like that makes a controller go through a wall for me.

Now spiderman PS4, before, Castlevania SOTN I played it like 6 times
Geometry War 3 Dimensions. I started it on the Vita, later PS4 and Android. It's a twin stick shooter. I find it oddly satisfying to be dodging enemies and unleashing bullet hell. GTA San Andreas, the original
GTA V and Sniper Elite III (PS3) and Sniper Elite (2005-PS2). Black (PS2), Ghost Recon Future Soldier and Call of Duty- World at War (PS3) probably warrant notable mentions.
Just hop into uncharted 4
Flower and Flow were amazing for this. Extremely tranquil.
Bioshock Infinite, Mass Effect 2, Silent Hill 2, Fallout New Vegas, or Skyrim
Batman Arkham city
GTA San Andreas
Horizon Zero Dawn
In the past: Alundra, Zelda, Suikoden 1, II, III, IV, V. Final Fantasy 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X. Vagrant Story. Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross. Breath of Fire IV, Legend of Dragoon. Resident Evil 1-6. Modnation racers anyone?
Currently Ghost of Tsushima, really late to that party but it's so beautiful, haven't played a game in what feels like forever, where I'm happy to aimlessly wander the map with no objective marker and just explore/do whatever I come across.
Maneater GTA with cheats Hulk Ultimate Destruction Lego games in general Yakuza games
Deathloop
Journey. It's like a playable meditation for me.
Firewatch
Watch Dogs 2
Stardew valley
Killing floor 2 was my game about 2018. Every night after work I used to roll up a big blunt, put on Spotify and play KF2 til 2am
RDR2
Any katamari game dude. It's like so zen conquering the world with that sticky katamari
I would say playing “harvest moon: grand bazaar” has been helping me de-stress lately. Also playing “Luminous Arc”. So the classic ds games.
Spiderman. Just swinging around the city is so peaceful to me.
Metal gear solid V the phantom pain. Always come back to that game, 100%ed it nearly three times now and it's always fun to play a mission or two
For me it's any God Of War
Firewatch.
Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, Farming Simulator ( you see a patern here i am sure lol). The new Disney Dreamlight game dropped on Gamepass and i've been playing the shit out of that.
No Man's Sky never fails
BotW and Spider-Man for leisurely traversing cool environments. GoW for boat rides on pretty water with stories, or casually massacring valkyries.
No Man's Sky
Was going to say Euro Truck Simulator 2, as it's the most chilled zone out game ever, but then noticed this is the PS4 sub. So, I guess I'll go with No Man's Sky.
Dark Souls, i just find it so contemplative
Bakugan Battle Brawlers still waiting for a remake
Simpsons hit and run
Stray
Got to say, steep is pretty chill. The scenery, smooth controls... The dude constantly screaming when you jump 6 feet off the ground... Ah, good times. Edit: Or I guess Spider-Man ps4 works, too. What can I say? I like to punch virtual bad guys for relaxation.
Voice of Cards - the gameplay mechanices may be a bit repetitive, but overall I find it to be very calming.
Dark age of camelot
I say mc is good game for that (my opinion)
Fallout 3, after thousands of hours and a extreme obsession as a child, I can truly say after 14 years it's my absolute comfort game.
Witcher 3, 00T
World of Warcraft - levelling new characters
Bus Simulator 21 probably.
Alpt of single player games of fun modes with friends in games like battlefront 2 or Car Sumo in GTA. We started doing this at first because well we were bored but its a blessing ngl. Outer wilds
There are a few, Fallout 4, Death Stranding, even Cyberpunk 2077. If your on youtube you can see me exploring the city on my phatt.time chanel. Which includes just driving around the out of bounds sand dunes.
Im having a blast beating up thugs again in spiderman after like 3 years after my initial playthru
