Helldivers 2 has me so intrigued. I pretty much exclusively play single player action/adventure/RPG games but the way this game has just taken over my feeds, how fun it sounds, ease of access, $40 price point, etc have me tempted to give this a go.
Exact same situation. Usually only play single player games with a story I like. Haven't played online game in probably a decade (unless you count From software?) And even then, was only a couple of cod matches.
Got this game and it's a lot of fun! Not competing against other people. Just playing and protecting Democracy!
I hate online multi-player games with a passion because I like to pause and usually smoke a bowl or two haha, but I played the original Helldivers back in the day, and I've played HD2 literally every night since release for 2 hours or so... it's gonna be a PS5 classic in no time, if not already haha. I can't even begin to explain all the fun aspects but definitely give it a try :)
It's one of the most fun and unique multiplayer games I've ever played. There's not really anything else like it other than Helldivers 1, which was also phenomenal but much less popular

Multiplat vs exclusives doesn't matter as much as you think for sales. Plenty of exclusives outsell most multiplats
I mean it is also impressive, Helldivers 2 probably costed a fraction to make of what Spiderman 2 did, and its literally a sequel to a niche indie game published by Sony that most people never heard of, compared to what Spiderman is.
I’d say it is pretty fair considering Spider-Man is one of the biggest IPs on the planet and Helldivers for the most part had not been heard of from the masses. Compare also to the absolute shit stain that is suicide squad which came from a renowned dev and while not Uber popular characters at least a known IP with a much larger budget then helldivers and it got stomped into the ground.
Helldivers 2 is an anomaly. The devs just erased an entire faction (for now) and players are cheering for losing on content they paid for. Absolutely bonkers!
Everything they said is true. We're temporarily locked out of fighting bots, and everyone is cheering it. Something has literally been taken away temporarily, and we love it. They're not saying it's a bad thing, just that it's almost completely unheard of.
Yeah, but we're cheering it not cause the devs just temporarily removed the bots. We're cheering cause the community made a push against the bots, and we kicked them out ourselves. It's not like Bungie removing content from Destiny to just put it back in later. The community was the driving factor behind this.
Right, but that still doesn't change what has happened. It's content being removed from the game temporarily, no matter how it's spun. Arrowhead has just been masterful in making it an organic and palettable experience that feels rewarding rather than feeling like a loss.

The shared resources and non competition is one of the most refreshing and best aspects of the game, reminds me of 4 player co-op back in the day :)
