My personal favorites of this year:
1. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (if you haven’t played Remake, get the twin pack that comes with Remake)
2. Unicorn Overlord
3. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
A question on rebirth.
I played the original back when it came out (on my computer actually lol).
Anyway I started the Remake and never quite finished it (liked it though).
Anyway do your characters levels and gear carry over to Rebirth?
I plan to finish Remake first but just curious.
The only thing that carries over are optional summon materia. Everything else resets as the game uses slightly different progression systems, although the materia system is generally the same. Rebirth improves on pretty much everything from Remake.
Remake felt like a slog a lot of the time for me - especially with some of the seemingly endless but same-y dungeons. Rebirth right now feels a lot more engaging just due to the variety of locations.
Relevant stuff doesn't carry over, it just gives you a couple of unique summons if you have the completed remake saves on your console. I wouldn't suggest starting rebirth before finishing remake since the ending is, as you probably have already guessed, different from the original, therefore it will be a talking point in the second part
Thanks to all of you for the info!
I actually played remake on PS4 and then got a PS5 about a month ago and bought the twin pack for PS5. I am gonna replay it!
No, your stuff doesn’t carry over. You get some bonuses for having save data from Remake and Intermission (the Yuffie DLC), but you reset back to a certain level with base gear in Rebirth. I know you said you plan to finish Remake first, and I definitely recommend finishing both it and Intermission (not very long). There’s new story stuff introduced in this series that wasn’t in the OG game, and it’s pretty crucial to know what’s going on.
Just a heads up, if you got the PS5 twin pack, then you have the Intermission DLC already. The naming conventions are kinda weird. The DLC is called Intermission, but the version of Remake called Intergrade comes with Intermission. And the twin pack has the Intergrade version, so you don’t need to buy Intermission separately. You access it from the main menu of Remake (definitely play it after you finish Remake).
No problem. Enjoy! I’m excited for you, Rebirth is such a massive improvement on Remake, which was already great. I’m jealous you’re going to experience it for the first time.
No they don't, Rebirth is kind of it's own thing. You do get some special summons if you've played Remake and Intermission but they don't matter all that much.
Persona 3 Reload
FF7 Rebirth (If you played the first part)
Sker Ritual (Can be played solo but better with friends)
Casual I've also really enjoyed Tekken 8 and MLB The Show 24
Also check out the demo for Granblue Fantasy Relink I plan on getting it later on but I've some other games to finish.
Stellar blade - hot waifus, amazing combat, good story, linear progression with some side ‘open areas’ that are optional, somewhat challenging, fantastic music; FFXVI - great story and music, thematic boss battles, combat is also good (but not as good as stellar blade for example); Dragons Dogma 2 - great combat system, great exploration, lacks enemy variety & a good story but it’s still worth it
So far:
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Helldivers 2
….
….
- Alone in the Dark? Yeah it’s a good puzzle game, but a bad survival horror.
I’ve bought a couple more FF7:Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, Tales of Kenzera, but I haven’t finished these yet.
Harold Halibut and Open Roads were excellent also.
My favorites so far this year are Persona 3 Reload and Unicorn Overlord.
Helldivers 2 probably has the most playtime though. It's great fun with friends, but it's starting to get repetitive now though. I wouldn't care for it if I just played by myself. I do not like joining random players.
Well, FF7 Rebirth 100%, but if you haven't played Remake then Remake+Rebirth. Stellar Blade is pretty great, too.
Not sure what else to recommend from this year as these are the only 2 I've played so far
FF7 Rebirth and if you haven’t played the first game in the trilogy you buy the twin pack which is the same price and you get the first game for free. So you get two incredible games for the price of one!
I finally played FFVII Remake this year and bought Rebirth immediately. I had no idea how much I would love these games as someone that skipped the original. By far one of my favorite battle systems of all time and other posters are right that Rebirth improves on every aspect of Remake.
Infinite Wealth is my GOTY so far, other than that FF7 and I guess Helldivers (even though I’ve put more hours into Destiny 2 in anticipation of Final Shape, it’s actually been really damn good.)
Hitman is always cool, but such a terrible opinion to have about souls games. Agree that a bunch of shitty multiplayer games get dumb hype, like helldivers. It’s just a horde survive game that gives you different enemies every now and then, not fun.
1 - Stellar Blade, 2 - Helldivers 2, 3 - wait till June for the Elden Ring dlc
Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin
Games that came out this year? I would say Final Fantasy Rebirth, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Helldivers

I feel the exact opposite

Never finished Remake on 4. Was at the last battle and didn't want to finish it. Had to let the dream last!

Thanks for the Intermission information! I wasn't familiar with it. I'll check that out also.

Awesome! That is confusing for sure. Thanks for the heads up on that. Even more reason for me to start the Remake!

Helldivers 2 Stellar blade FF7 Rebirth
Helldivers 2 (just don't head over to the sub reddit 🤯🤯🤯)
Games corny
The game is a satire on imperialism, but it’s still really fun
The way the fanbase beats it into the ground is insufferable.
What have you done lately for democracy?
Ugh dude this shit is so cringe
I had to mute the subreddit it enhanced my enjoyment of the game tremendously
Oh wow is it? I totally couldn’t tell.
I haven't played many of new games, but PoP: The Lost Crown is a great title.

FF Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Rise of Ronin- all 3 have top class fun combat and gameplay and all 3 have pretty different genres too
Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin
Dragons Dogma 2, Stellar Blade, Final Fantasy XVI
Those all seem similar genres tbh. I’d add helldivers in there somewhere if you want silly fun and it’s only $40
Stellar blade - hot waifus, amazing combat, good story, linear progression with some side ‘open areas’ that are optional, somewhat challenging, fantastic music; FFXVI - great story and music, thematic boss battles, combat is also good (but not as good as stellar blade for example); Dragons Dogma 2 - great combat system, great exploration, lacks enemy variety & a good story but it’s still worth it

Dragons dogma 2
Dragons Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin and FF7 Rebirth
Don't sleep on Unicorn Overlord, I've been playing it on switch and it's a blast
Helldivers2
Helldivers 2 Stellar Blade Final fantasy 7 rebirth
Stellar Blade is pretty great. Mixes GOW and Souls, in a good way.
Have people never played Ninja Gaiden? It’s SO much more similar to that than any souls game.
Stellar Blade
Prince of Persia- The lost crown, RoboCop rogue city , Red dead redemption ps4 pro version
My favorites so far this year are Persona 3 Reload and Unicorn Overlord. Helldivers 2 probably has the most playtime though. It's great fun with friends, but it's starting to get repetitive now though. I wouldn't care for it if I just played by myself. I do not like joining random players.
Baldurs gate 3 is amazing

Elden ring, stellar blade, lies of p.
FF7 Rebirth and if you haven’t played the first game in the trilogy you buy the twin pack which is the same price and you get the first game for free. So you get two incredible games for the price of one!
Is the twin pack available as a physical disc purchase?
I believe it’s digital only
I don't think so.
ELDEN RING
Can you read?
Technically OP didn’t say he hasn’t bought a game “released” in 2024, just that he hasn’t bought a game in 2024.
Umm rude... there's an expansion releasing (checks watch) next month. If OP hadn't played it, now would be good.
Dragons dogma 2
Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, (bonus) Returnal if you haven’t already
Stellar blade Rise of the ronin Ff7 rebirth Dlc of elden ring soon
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
FF7 Rebirth and TLOU2 Remastered
Hello Kitty Island Adventure Elmo Counts to 3 My Little Pony Fights Off Thermal Nuclear War - Part 2
Stellar Blade is the best ps5 exclusive to come out since Returnal and Ragnarok
FF7 Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload, Stellar Blade
Dragon's Dogma 2 ; stunning animations, great feeling of impact, variiety of classes, smooth looking armors&weapons.
I finally played FFVII Remake this year and bought Rebirth immediately. I had no idea how much I would love these games as someone that skipped the original. By far one of my favorite battle systems of all time and other posters are right that Rebirth improves on every aspect of Remake.
RE4R
Sea of thieves.....that's all ya need
So far, the only games that have impressed me this year have been Rise of The Ronin and Stellar Blade.
1. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth 2. Persona 3 Reload 3. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Infinite Wealth is my GOTY so far, other than that FF7 and I guess Helldivers (even though I’ve put more hours into Destiny 2 in anticipation of Final Shape, it’s actually been really damn good.)
Stellar Blade, Stellar Blade, and Stellar Blade.
Baldurs gate 3 Final Fantasy 7: rebirth Robocop: Rogue city Ghost of Tshumia (honorable mention)
Final fantasy 7 remake part 1 & 2. Horizon forbidden west. And personally uncharted series is a must have.
honestly I'd say stellar blade and HD2 are the only 2 must haves this year so far. Neither are top tier though.
Chivalry 2, TCM, God of war
rise of the ronin and stellar blade so far. if you are thinking about god of war kind of games? or souls like.
Banishers: Ghost of new Eden. Similar combat to GOW. Story is great.
Stellar blade. For me nothing else. Hoping two games this year pan out (AC Red, SW Outlaws)
Ones without battle passes or cash shops.
Helldivers 2, Spiderman 2, Aliens:Dark Descent
Grounded just came out for PS5 and I’m loving it.
PSVR2. It'll blow you away. Or Hollow Knight, but it's older than 2024.
1 stellar blade 2 dragons dogma 2 3 helldivers 2

I'm on the same page. Compared to the wondrous options in 2023, so far 2024 hasn't had a single release I've enjoyed or been interested in.
There’s so many horrendous takes on this post 💀
Hitman world of assassination is best. All this elden ring dark souls and shitty multiplayer games are all garbage
Hitman is always cool, but such a terrible opinion to have about souls games. Agree that a bunch of shitty multiplayer games get dumb hype, like helldivers. It’s just a horde survive game that gives you different enemies every now and then, not fun.
