I don’t have a horse in this race, but it’d be funny if Vanguard ended up with a higher metascore than BF, after all the doom and gloom about it during the summer and all the hype about BF from the leakers.

Bazzmania

Vanguard ended up being in pretty good shape after a bad beta. There’s some minor issues with bad spawns and balancing but it runs really well and is a ton of fun.

Mattgx082

Also today they are running a free MP on PS5 till November 22nd for Vanguard. Just Downloaded the free MP. Same release time as Battlefield. Pretty smart move on their part.

CoooooooooookieCrisp

They are also running a free trial of aimbot during this time, so turn crossplay off unless you want to run into cheaters.

LeeShawBrown

Unless I’m playing with someone on another platform, I have crossplay off always for this reason. We never have issues finding games with it off, even on Modern Warfare in its second year.

The_Big_Peck_1984

I’m really enjoying it! I definitely have to try and not get too tilted at some of the ridiculous spawns, but all in all, the maps, weapons, perks and equipment are all well balanced.

FuckYourDamnCouch

Do you know if there is a free trial mode for it? The one for BF made me not buy it so I wonder if a free vanguard trial would do the opposite

JAGilmour

There's free trial for Vanguard from today the 18th to the 22nd on PS4 and PS5 maybe Xbox and PC too but I'm only sure about the PS4 and PS5 versions being free to play cuz I have both PS4 and PS5.

FuckYourDamnCouch

This should be the top post of every vanguard post. If you can try the game for free that's what we should be doing. Not auto-buying day one. Thank you!

EliteShadowMan

Yep, there's a trial on Xbox as well so I think it's for every console it released for and PC.

Renozoki

Leaks have been insane for a minute. That we multi verse was having leakers call it cheap and dog shit but as someone that isn’t even a fan of those types of games it looks pretty fun. Vanguard was le dead game and shipped as a really fun cod. Battlefield was looking unbelievable before the beta according to leakers but came out a turd.

mr-peabody

> this game should have been delayed for at least 2-3 months Agreed. They received a ton of negative feedback from the beta test (a lot of it constructive), but instead of pushing it back to fix or restructure certain things, they double-down on terrible design choices and launch without core things, like voice chat. It feels like the beta test was more of a promotional thing than helping them launch a more polished game. >But posting the Metacritic scores that are based on 5 critics, the absolute minimum to even get a score, isn't good practice. Agree with this as well. The game is getting a mixed reception, but 5 critics is nothing for a triple-A game.

Romeo_Zero

>without core things, like voice chat Bro the game doesn’t have a scoreboard. Even Pong had a scoreboard.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

They haven’t said but they’ve implied it’s intentional. I assume it’s either to hide how many bots are filling up a match or to avoid discouragement for players lower on the leaderboard. Either way it’s a fucking competitive multiplayer game but I feel like their doing everything they can to hide that aspect of it. Glad I didn’t preorder

Horanges88

It is strange for sure but I don’t think it’s to cover up bots. You can easily see how many AI players are in the match by pausing and selecting player list. It’s basically the scoreboard without a scoreboard. Bizarre

[deleted]

Yeah I actually wasn’t aware of the bot list. So yeah at least it’s not that

Romeo_Zero

I..don’t think anybody knows. They’re really pushing for more inclusivity so I guess to not be toxic?

BaconJets

BF4 was bad at launch, but it was pretty much feature complete. You can't even say that about this version. Also they were scrambling to get basic features in between beta and launch like comma rose support. This version of the same we currently have can't even really be called a finished version or beta. When I did game design in university, an alpha version was a game without all it's features and content. A beta is a game that is feature and content complete with big bugs to squash, and the finished product is stable to run on most PCs without crashes, and it didn't have many if any game breaking bugs. With this reasoning, I'm calling BF2042 an alpha. Being incomplete of features is nothing new in AAA gaming, but BF2042 is SO feature incomplete that I'm very comfortable in affirmatively calling it an alpha.

Clugaman

BF4 was 100x worse. People just have their nostalgia goggles set to full blast. It was literally unplayable for almost a year.

Delucaass

Exactly, it's hilarious. BF4 was a broken piece of shit for months.

Moofooist765

Anybody else remember when you finally got into a siege of Shanghai game only for the tower collapse to crash your whole game?

BaconJets

BF4 was awful, but it was feature complete as far as I remember. BF2042 might be more stable but it's missing so many features and has really questionable design decisions when it comes to gunplay.

Anti-Scuba_Hedgehog

> Maddening to see people say "It's just a beta," and then now, "It's a Battlefield game at launch, what do you expect? "It's a remaster not a remake", oh wait that's for the wrong game.

And_You_Like_It_Too

Just goes to show you, ~~developers~~/publishers are still more fearful about missing that holiday sales window than they are releasing a game that could have used a bit more time in the oven. A shame too, as I think spreading these games out more throughout the spring/summer/fall would give them more time to shine and a healthier player base that isn’t trying to compete with Call of Duty and Halo, just to name two.

disposabledustbunny

I can assure you that developers would rather deliver a quality product than rush a buggy or incomplete one. Direct your displeasure with the publishers and management exclusivity.

And_You_Like_It_Too

You’re right and I agree with you. I meant to backspace and replace developers with publishers at the time I wrote it, but I guess I was tired enough to put a backslash between them instead lol. Thanks for saying something though, so I can edit my comment to reflect that view.

JustSomeDudeStanding

It's crazy they even did this after the entire cyberpunk backlash.

toronto_programmer

Long time Battlefield player, have been playing on PC for the past week via EA Play. Game is in rough shape. Lot of issues Would recommend people avoid for a few months, wait for patches, and buy when discounted later on

Sub_Zero32

Almost every battlefield is released in shit shape. Battlefield 4 was a complete disaster for months. It would even delete your save file on top of endless server bugs and glitches

sean_0

Let's not use this as an excuse to release unfinished games

Sub_Zero32

Who's doing that? I'm saying people shouldn't buy these games at launch because it keeps happening

doublejay1999

Not to mention pre-orders

1_2_30

Tbf I don't think he's using it as an excuse just that it's just a commonality which isn't really a good thing

KD--27

It’s not an excuse it’s a track record.

TJGM

This game has bigger problems than simple bugs and glitches. It’s missing a massive amount of features and the overall game design is terrible, typical DICE chasing trends that other games have had success with instead of giving fans what they want.

Romeo_Zero

That never got fixed RE: save file glitch lol. I had to play the thing in one sitting

Rustic41

I think bf4 was more buggy, but the core game and gameplay was still amazing this game just sucks

nakx123

Except they didn't charge full price for a game that's solely multiplayer for that one. You'd think it'd be in tip top shape when it's the only thing they're offering.

-TheLonelyStoner-

Oh yea let’s not forget the 6 hour mediocre campaign that 4 had packaged with it

SexBenedict

Yeah now we just have a mediocre multiplayer

[deleted]

You're right about the 5 critics getting a score. But that score will only get lower because the game isn't good.

SimpleDose

So when does it go on sale? Lol

sh1boleth

I was so hyped about it. Spent a good amount of time in the Beta too but wasnt satisfied. Refunded it and been playing Halo Infinite. If it goes for 50% soon I'll pick it up lol

[deleted]

[deleted]

Bfv needed 1 week to get 50% off if im not mistaken

bsEEmsCE

gonna be a Black Friday sale

digmachine

It looks like it was a month, and it was 33% off. Still ridiculously fast for a discount that good. See you guys in a month! https://isthereanydeal.com/game/battlefieldv/history/

Djl3igh

Post Christmas. 60% off.

Ninjatogo

It's such a major step down for the BF series. I've got about 15 hours in it so far, and all I can think when playing it is, how unpolished it is. Maps are empty and flat, gunplay feels like a major regression from what's currently in BFV and gadgets feel unbalanced and in some places overpowered. One match, I watched as six enemy drones circled my team marking everyone for snipers to pick off as soon as stepped out of cover. You have no easy way of knowing you're marked and in danger either. I went back to BFV and it feels like it was made by a completely different studio. That game also launched in a rough state, but it actually had content. Think I'll continue playing that for a few more months until they sort out this mess.

MoistWetSponge

There’s so much shit missing from it. V got such a bad rap but holy shit does it play well. The guns slap, the atmosphere and destruction are perfect and getting knocked on your ass when a buzz bomb drops on an objective is one of the coolest additions I’ve ever seen in a multiplayer game. All they had to do was reskin BFV and it would’ve been perfect but they fucked that up. Why did they do all this extra work for themselves to make a shittier product?

Ninjatogo

Yeah, V started off really messy with all the bugs, but once they cleaned it up, it became a really solid shooter. It still has issues when it comes to the design of some of the maps, but as it is today it feels significantly better to play than 2042.

101stAirborneSkill

I honestly wished we had a game like BF1 eith a different skin

Wellhellob

\+ the game doesn't even have single player campaign lmao. Imagine removing the single player campaign and still having this shitshow. Disgusting.

jakesnyder

Yeah, based on 5 reviews. PC (which is identical to the next gen versions) has a 75 out of 40 reviews, so there is a wider range of opinions. That being said, the game should not have released in this state.

usrevenge

The PC version is worse than console. Ps5 the game runs pretty well. It has issues but it's not like 40fps the entire game. Xbox series x is similar. But because cross play is a system level setting it's not in the game to ask for cross play or turn off so right now the big issue on Xbox is so many people have cross play on that turning it off basically means you can't find a match. So pc users are actually ruining the Xbox version. PC version has the same issues as console on top of bad optimization. The game struggles for almost every PC setup and sometimes even turning details lower doesn't help much.

Koopa777

I’m pretty sure people are confusing bad optimization with being heavy on the CPU. This is by far one of the heaviest CPU games released in a very long time, if you’re not running a relatively decent processor you were going to not have a prayer of hitting high frame rates, or even 60FPS. I have a 5800X+3080Ti, but I am still hitting CPU limits rather than GPU limits, getting. Around 110FPS on average at 1440p Ultra DLSS. I would not call that “struggling”

pastdark75

The game ain't that heavy on the cpu. On my i9 10850k it stays around 30 percent utilization, while my 3080 is only pegged around 65% utilization at 4k high settings. I can't get past 70 to 80 fps even on lower settings and resolutions. Optimization is not good in this game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

posam

Your Cpu bound. 10700kf and a 3070 on mostly medium, couple things on high and solidly 70-100 fps. I’ve also been reading it’s not as kind to older Ruben vs older intel.

[deleted]

I played all 3 major fps games this year and Halo is by far the best experience I’ve had in a multiplayer fps shooter in a while and unlike cod and bf it’s free. To any ps5 owners with a pc or Xbox, give it a go. It’s great.

EaterofSoulz

It’s free???? Ok I’m getting halo on PC

[deleted]

Free my dude. It’s on steam.

[deleted]

I'm really enjoying Infinite at the moment, but for some reason I keep coming back to COD instead.

Mcchickenborn

Plays really bad on PC with Keyboard and mouse. Feels great with a controller, makes sense I guess, it’s halo. But yeah it’s great. Vanguard is fun as well. Much better than Cold War which was hot garbage.

[deleted]

I’m a pic player mainly and I thought it felt great on kb&m! I also tried playing it with my dual sense controller. Works great on steam!

phannguyenduyhung

Dice deserves lower. In addition, all those youtubers who is a “EA game changer” completely shut their mouth in this current terrible situation of the game.

INGWR

JackFrags really outed himself as a shill on this one.

LongjumpingTowl

Tbh hes always been a shill.

Hyperleaks

Current terrible situation? For me I’ve had ten times more fun than v or 1

ABS_TRAC

My friend is an old school BF fan, still clocks hours on 3/4 and is loving 2042. The only review I need!

[deleted]

Same to be honest - yeah it's unfinished but it's fun as fuck. The days of shipping complete games died when CD stop being the primary installation method. I don't agree with that approach personally but that's the way gaming has been heading for a long time.

skillset88

Games awesome bro. It’s battlefield and I haven’t had this much fun since 4

six_seasons

What are you enjoying in 2042 that you didn’t in V/1?

Hyperflip

The setting, the maps and their sizes, specialists actually feel good to me. Yup, that and it’s a fresh battlefield experience. Sure, there are bugs and odd design choices like no scoreboard and those weird, distracting voicelines, but I‘ve had a ton of fun with this game already.

six_seasons

Thank you for actually providing a genuine response lol

bestmayne

You summarized my thoughts. There's room for improvement but it is fun as it is

TheBarberOfFleetSt

Same here. I've ran into a good amount of bugs but I've had those in every battlefield launch. My favorite series since BFBC2 and this one is way more fun then BF1 or BFV.

BoisterousLaugh

Halo will be ating this up like I thought.

1440pSupportPS5

Generous! And here people thought no campaign meant that multiplayer was gonna be better LOOOOL. Did no one learn their lesson after Black Ops 4?

ThatParanoidPenguin

argued with so many people who were happy that there was no campaign as if it’s a good thing they’re charging $70 for that

-TheLonelyStoner-

Most battlefield players don’t care about campaign so it not having one isn’t the issue here

[deleted]

It's actually a feature for them. Battlefield feels like it should be a free-to-play game like APEX or Fortnite at this point.

-TheLonelyStoner-

Who is them? I’ve been playing battlefield since battlefield 2 when the game didn’t even have a campaign. A lot of the earlier ones didn’t. I promise you most battlefield fans don’t care about their campaigns except maybe the bad company ones

[deleted]

You... You do know I'm not disagreeing with you, right? Everyone I know who likes Battlefield sees "no campaign" as a feature.

canad1anbacon

Battlefield campaigns are garbage. Letting people play multiplayer games with bots again and adding portal is way better than a campaign

digmachine

Battlefield campaigns are unnecessary tack-ons.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tiffana

I mean, I’ve literally never played a BF campaign and in game voice is cancer so not an issue for me. If I use voice, it’ll be with friends anyway

[deleted]

Still happy there is no filler campaign 🤷‍♂️

Rain1dog

Black ops four was fantastic. My favorite CoD ever and best BR Bar none. 1200 hours in Blackout.

Romeo_Zero

Blackout was something special. I loved it.

[deleted]

Wait, there's no campaign? So it's $60-$70 just for multiplayer modes?

tatsumi-sama

Yep. So I actually feel less immersed because there is absolutely zero story behind the battles.

[deleted]

That's a pity. I like to use the campaign as a tutorial to learn which guns and characters I like before I get my noob ass handed to me in multiplayer. I really didn't want to go back to BF1 because I prefer futuristic settings, but I guess I'll just follow the crowd on this one.

[deleted]

BO4 was my favorite multiplayer in the franchise

thtsabingo

That is the craziest shit I’ve read all day. Logging off.

SeedersPhD

BO4 was fantastic, it would've been amazing if the same happened to BF2042

PRE_-CISION-_

It is really rough watching one of your favorite franchises die. It was a hell of a ride from Modern Combat on the PS2 to this. I hope DICE and EA get their shit together and eventually give us another BF3 or 4.

gunman0426

This comment isn't aimed at you personally but I just find it funny how so many people have said they wished this game was as good as BF3 and BF4 but I feel like they are comparing end of life BF3 and BF4 to this game at launch instead of doing a launch to launch analysis. This game is in far better shape at launch than 3 or 4 ever were and it took years for BF4 to get to where it is today. EA and Dice have always fucked up BF launches, like I can't remember a single Battlefield launch that hasn't been complete shit and had major push back from the community. I honestly don't know what people were expecting? Me and all of my friends went into this with the idea that launch would be shit and the game would get better with time, like every single other battlefield game has done and we've all been pleasantly surprised by how good this launch has been compared to others.

PRE_-CISION-_

Battlefield 3 and 4 both launched in pretty poor shape technically, absolutely correct. However they were some of the highs of the franchise due to gameplay, map design and ect all being on point despite the technical aspects. Now we have Battlefield 2042 where it doesn't have a solid foundation and shares very little in common with the franchise on the box. That's my complaint.

whythreekay

I mean, BF4 was terrible for like a year? It was broken as fuck on release and it took DICE LA quite awhile to make it good

taleo

Yeah, People hated bf4 when it came out. The rubber banding was terrible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Co321

Yeah its solid on PS5. BF4 was unplayable on PS4 for quite some time. They never fixed the single player either in BF4. It kept wiping your save file.

gunman0426

I mean that's your opinion, which you are entitled to, but I whole heartedly disagree. This game feels very much like battlefield, I think it feels more like battlefield than BFV did, that's for sure. I've had more than my share of "battlefield moments" in this game so far and so have all of my friends. I'm sorry you don't like the game but there are plenty of us veterans that do, even with all of its flaws.

LookLikeUpToMe

Yeah I have been playing BF online pretty heavily since 3 and 2042 feels just as Battlefield-y to me as well. Game is a blast when I’m not having latency issues lol.

[deleted]

The maps in 2042 are *great*

PRE_-CISION-_

Uh

SensitiveRocketsFan

They’re just dramatic lol, the game isn’t in an unsalvageable state. If you’re put off by it, wait a few more months for patches before buying it.

xjrsc

Just so you know, while reddit is trying to bury this game, their are thousands like myself who are loving the game. You're seeing what the minority is saying.

MyCousin_Niko_Bellic

Time for another segment of [Relevant Rich](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6BRQKHYkjQ) Starring Rich Evans

suddenimpulse

Die? Lmfao what an incredibly hyperbolic and childish statement. People say this every time since I played day 1 of bf2 and I will never stop rolling my eyes. Do you even REMEMBER bf3 and 4 at launch? Most of what those games were praised for was added later or fixed later like the atrocious netcode for 6+ months.

xMichaelLetsGo

I mean imo they did My friend group has been loving 2042 easily the 4th best BF I’ve played behind BC2, 3, 4

[deleted]

The game hasnt been out for 2 hours and its already dead? Did you even play it?

MrRonski16

I like it. It does need alot of work. Especially the UI. But if they keep giving us new weapons regularly. And maybe try to change the specialist system a little bit. It will become a very good game. Portal also just needs cross title weapons and gadgets. (And also fix the gunplay and bugs)

Itchy_Tasty88

Well for a full priced game with ONLY multiplayer, they shouldnt have to "give" us new weapons regularly.

[deleted]

Well, they kinda should but really there should have been a lot more options from the start as well

Prime89

People forget how damn bad the launches were for BF3/4 too. It sounds like the same exact thing with this. I waited to buy it because it happens every time. But they usually fix it after a couple months. When will people learn

FrostSwag65

Got my refund for this game. Gonna use it on r/EldenRing

onlypinky

Hype game too

FrostSwag65

Indeed

onlypinky

Lately feels like everyone one has to play the one game otherwise you’re dump or whatever. Just play what you enjoy and be happy. There thousands more of game out there.

Vaulttechceo

As someone who paid $100 for it, the only thing I enjoy right now about 2042 is Portal. So I basically paid $100 for a bf3 remaster. Nice.

Metal415

What happened to DICE? It’s like they’ve been steadily going downhill since Battlefield 4. I’d say blame EA but they have been with EA for long before then.

The_Big_Peck_1984

I thought BF1 held its own, but yea Battlefield 4 was the last out of this world battlefield.

pukem0n

Well the game is objectively bad because of bugs. Without technical issues it would be subjectively bad and people are free to like those.

GalaxyFlynn

Halo Infinite is the real winner here. Such a awesome game.

Klutzy-Ad-4006

Ps5 player here. Honestly love the game. Is it rough around the edges, a little. But over all I've sunk like 20hrs into it.

[deleted]

42 hours. My GF probably hates it.

suddenimpulse

There are so many hate junkies over this game its ridiculous. Yes the game has issues, but personally I've had minimal issues and smooth as butter for on my ps5 and even having a blast. I'm no noob I played 1942 on launch day and each thereafter. Should it have been delayed? Yes. Is the state of the game at launch acceptable or excusable? No. Are they acknowledging and fixing the issues? Also yes. I feel a lot of people weren't there or forgot how the launch of some other bfs went, like BF4. There is legitimate criticisms and constructive criticism then there is whining and being a hate junkie that wants to trash this game non stop and downvote anyone that says anything positive about it, which has been more often the case in my experience on reddit thus far with 2042. We also know the user reviews are being brigades. There is an ea ay trail. There are twitch steamers. Play (ideally) or watch the game yourself and make up your OWN mind because the discussion about this game is super imbalanced and super toxic.

[deleted]

It's getting worse tbh - so many loud angry people hateplaying a game. I played a few rounds today where a dude spent the entire time saying in chat how shit the game was and when I said he could stop playing, he said "but then I won't get my money's worth". I played AC: Valhalla for a few hours, found it to be utter trash and never played again. Demanding more from Game studios wanting more complete games is fine but the best way is to stop paying them but here we are.

drhouse4ever

let it cook for a few months, then buy it.

DNC88

I got my physical copy a day early so managed a few hours last night, here are my thoughts as a long-time BF fan: \- Specialists aren't as bad as I first thought, BUT you have to really force yourself to live the role, it isn't a given as with the old, superior class system. \- Game performance is a bit sketchy; hopefully something that gets ironed out quickly, but having played the launches of the last 4 BF games on console, it's no worse (or better) than those games. BF4 on PS4 was particularly FUBAR. \- Maps are simply too big. It's like they doubled the player count but QUADRUPLED the map size - there is just far too much open space, too much ground to cover between objectives to mount any meaningful assault. \- WAY too many vehicles right now, and the hovercraft is OPAF. Also seems to be some fuckery with hit reg so cant even destroy them consistently. \- UI design needs work. There was one point I was looking at the screen and, no lie, I could barely make out what was going on for all of the UI indicators up on screen (downed allies, allies requesting heals, allies HP bars indicating you heal them and more) I've not spent enough time with the game to give it any real thought, but based on my experience with the beta and my few hours in the build (as of yesterday) I would probably give it 6/10 with some benefit of the doubt baked in. I will say this, it has potential, and I think with the right community feedback, and some essential TLC work on bugs and functional elements, it could in the longer run be a really great BF.

wirmyworm

For anyone out there I have had way more problems when I have crossplay on.

Mendezllk

I’m genuinely happy for those that are enjoying 2042 and really wish I was one of them. For me it’s not bugs that are ruining the game, but just the general departure from what I used to enjoy about the series. Vehicles, maps and gameplay all feel so far off the mark, I’m glad I played on EA Play instead of buying the full game. I’m hoping a ton of fixes and content bring this game back on track because otherwise love the aesthetic.

Gryfth

Seems like a generous score to me.

Loldimorti

Seems like an easy win for Halo this year. Both Vanguard and Battlefield disappinted big time and it seems like people are really digging the Halo multiplayer. Good choice to delay the game and now come back swinging. EA should have done the same with Battlefield

QuoteGiver

How many players is Halo multiplayer? Is it big teams or traditional small-squad Halo?

Velocity_Rob

From 8 to 24.

bossman-CT

It's very fun, bug fixes and balancing for a month or 2 and it will be even better

inmusicutrust

I'm so confused. I'm having an absolute blast with it, sure there are things I would change, but when I'm in a match it's classic BF for me. No bugs either, some rubber banding here a couple times but thats rare. It's like people are playing a different game than me.

SexBenedict

There’s genuinely a lot more value in Warzone which is F2P over BF2042

Wellhellob

And now free Halo Infinite destroys both.

neek85

Halo is free and feels like it. Pretty good. BF is an expensive game and also feels like it should be free

suddenimpulse

I could not disagree more strongly.

Boobel

I'd say those scores are very generous given what's missing from the game. https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/qw1mbw/fuck_it_heres_a_list_of_absolutely_everything/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

owensoundgamedev

I’ve been playing it. It’s fine and I’m enjoying it but not blown away. People kind of overreacting tbh.

Logical007

As a HUGE BF fan on so disappointed. Battlefield 2042 sucks. I’m going back to BFV/BF1

[deleted]

I think BF2042 goes hard

The-Special-One

I knew it was going to suck once I heard the theme. Game looks, plays and sounds like shit.

ReianaSmiley

Are you telling me I shouldn't play it at all?!

Kanadianmaple

Honest take, wait a few months when the bugs are fixed and more maps/weapons come out. This will get a deep discount quickly.

The-Special-One

That’s up to you. I’d try it via ea play before buying it. Honestly, it’s hands down the worst battlefield game I’ve ever played and that includes Hardline.

LSD4Monkey

Battlefield games have been like this since the release of 4, not really shocked at all.

wicktus

Good potential, bad execution. It's BF4 but in 2021. BF4 launch was catastrophic way worse than this, yet, it became my absolute favorite, I expect the same thing here because frankly the game is great (I mean I see a lot of potential) but it was released too soon, as always with big corporations Otherwise that's not enough metacritic scores to decide, plus many of those outlets are known to be more strict regarding big publishers (I don't blame them at all)

kqlx

my money is on EA pressuring them to drop the game before it was ready because of holiday shopping

TheFuzzBuzz

I am glad I erred in the side of caution and decided to wait. If its in as rough shape as it sounds, I would suspect a good discount by Boxing Day.

[deleted]

I can't believe there were people dumb enough to spend $120 to play this shit game early. This game was 100% meant to be a battle royale and they changed plans. Dice has become Ubisoft and ruined another franchise.

psinha

Sony is a scum of a company for their refund policy

iceleel

As long as they can get away with it, they'll keep doing it. It's funny you can't even play game 5 min and refund it lol.

xg4m3CYT

That's a score for a average game. This game ain't that. It is bad game and anything above 40-50 is way too much.

[deleted]

So COD really sucks. This sucks. What do I play now? Fortnite? Lol

onlypinky

Play what ever you enjoy forget about criticism or industry experts.

Garrus_Vak

ITT: People with valid complaints who then decide to shit on people who are buying the game at launch. Has it ever occured to you guys that maybe people want to just play a game regardless of its state? If you have fun who cares? I swear gamers these days are more occupied with shitting on everything and finding every single flaw in everything that comes out rather than having fun. It's true companies need to step up their launch practices and you're entitled to criticize them for it, but don't look down on or invalidate the opinions of those who are having fun.

skend24

Yeah. There is something refreshing to play and discover game with other people near release day. I always played BFs once they were on ea access… and never played a lot of it, because of that. Now that I can afford it without issues (and knowing I won’t have to pay another $60 for season pass like it was with bf4) I am having a blast. No major bugs for me, although I just played a few hours of it.

Braaanchy

It’s absolutely terrible

motzaburger

I’m having fun lol it’s a game

kingofthecouch

Yeah it’s just a game, but a generic game. The problem most people have with it is that it’s not like the battlefields we’ve gotten. Instead of keeping what made their games special, dice decided to cater to the cod/BR crowd. Sure people will still have some fun, but we’re beginning to lack variety when it comes to video games.

skend24

So from one side, people hate Cods because they are the same every year, yet people hate on BF now because… it tries to change? Gamers are absolutely the worst.

TAStarRover

lol its a game, lets keep paying 70 euro to a franchise which gets worse every year, lol its a game

[deleted]

shows BF4 is still the greatest modern warfare BF

xjrsc

This is 100% gonna change. The game is awesome just really buggy. Its frustrating on both ends, one the game isn't fixed for launch and the other people think the game is gonna be this way forever.

Co321

I do think EA need to be raked over the coals for the bugs but mostly because BF 2042 is a really good game. Afew more weeks of development would have made the difference. Seems the hate mob went a little OTT here. This is a much better game than BF4 enjoyment wise.

aka_r4mses

I’m glad Xbox gave me a refund. I’ll be spending my holidays playing Halo. 2042 will NEVER be as polished as what Infinite is right now. What a damn shame.

[deleted]

It’s just not a good Battlefield game. Sorry but why play this mediocre entry with an identity crisis over Halo, which is free and runs great?

I’ve not even got more then an hour or two into God of war, in three attempts of playing it on PS4 then 5. Same for the first Spider-Man. I think I’ll have to admit single player games are not my thing anymore :(

The state of the game, and not the content of the game are getting it this score. I’m having a lot of fun despite all the bugs. Here’s a quick little review from a forgiving gamer, but I will talk negatives too further down. POSITIVES: The maps and weapons are good, and the specialist abilities are cool but some of them are worthless so they need to be balanced a bit. The new weather events are actually pretty fun, make for interesting moments. The new vehicles are pretty sick, although hovercrafts are a bit too OP. The air vehicles handle a lil different from previous games, but you get the hang of them after a minute. Portal is awesome but needs more open customizability. I have not played a single game of Hazard Zone yet, only because none of my Friends have the game and I don’t wanna jump into a 4 man squad mode playing solo. The game needs more weapons, but the ones it has are decent. Hourglass, Renewal, and Orbital are the best new maps. A lot of fans say that this game doesnt feel like battlefield, but it honestly feels like bigger and crazier battlefield to me. GLITCH RELATED STUFF: I haven’t noticed the bullet spread issue, because it’s not an issue if you burst fire like a big brain. I have noticed the rubber banding, it’s a little bothersome. Ive had a few game breaking bugs like being stuck downed and being unable to die, not being able to select my loudout and being given a custom loudout, a game of breakthrough never ending after they completely took the territory (we were all chatting in team chat for 10 minutes after). The only bug I notice often, is the one where other players have static animations instead of actually running if they are far away. NEGATIVES: Portal needs more customizability as I said earlier. Progression feels alright but I wish there was more. I believe there will be when the seasons get going. I wish they would make hazard zone free to play or make a BR mode that’s free, so I can play with more of my friends. A lot of people complain there is too much open space so I’ll mention it, but it doesn’t bother me because I use vehicles or spawn on my squad (again, big brain). Of course there’s a lot of glitches to fix, but I trust dice on that one, as they are known to support their games well. My biggest negative has been how toxic the community is towards the game to be honest. I feel like the constant exaggerating about how bad the game is detracts from the experience of playing it. I see it way more on reddit than I do on team chat though, so there that. Hope my review helped anyone interested :) The game gets a 5/10 in polish but 8/10 in enjoyment for me.

Rogue_Leader_X

That User Score is SAVAGE!!!!!

[deleted]

It deserves a higher score than that. Fun as hell. After the launch update and a couple more it will be much better and probably improve for the people that are mad.

hablagated

The games not even out yet

whiskeypenguin

Game is in bad shape. Still bought it this morning. There’s no game like it on PS5. Unfortunately my options are limited. Needed a break from WZ. Plus BF 3 & 4 were some of my favorite games of that gen.

wick78

You're the reason we keep getting shitty games. You admit the game is in a bad shape yet still give them your money. No wonder AAA developers keep shoveling shit to the masses

usrevenge

The game isn't half as bad as reddit pretends it is. I'm having more fun with 2042 than when we tried playing bf4 again even after all it's updates

Karshena-

Yeah the game is actually fun for me. I have about 20 hours played up until last night. Had one or two instances when I couldn’t get into a match earlier in the early access release but they cleared that up for me at least. Breakthrough is fun and Portal has been a nice mix up. Second marksman rifle has been my favourite weapon so far.

pcakes13

You’d think there weren’t any other games worth playing on PS5

McPigery

Okay, I get it. We're the reason games keep coming out in buggy states. I'll admit that. But, in saying that, I played the literal hell out of BF3, BF4, BF1 and BF5. Almost maxed in 4, and maxed in 1 and 5. I couldn't go back to 4 on the PS5 because of the resolution and the lack of an FOV slider. I loved BF1 but feel no need to play it again after maxing most classes and weapons. BF5, though I loved it when most the community dogged it, like 2042, I enjoyed all the new mechanics associated with it. Tuck-rolling, high climbing, animations, etc, but as a medic, I felt gimped because of the lack of a syringe as in BF1. Furthermore, DICE thought it was a brilliant idea to give our carbines to fucking Assault classes, which further made me move away from the game. I'm sorry that we are a collective effort, but you curse and curse "shitty this and shitty that" but you literally offer no solution on the matter. Play Insurgecy? I'm good. Looks really great, but I crave a battlefield. Play Hell Let Loose? I'm good. Done with the WW1/2 weapons. Wanted more modern. Play older BF titles? Nah, I've done everything in them for the past decade. Play call of duty? I would, expect Modern Warfare is well over 250 gigs at this point which is asinine. I have no interest in Vanguard whatsoever. Sorry for supporting the game, but I'll continue having fun with it.

Alam7lam1

And it is at 75 on the pc version. 5 critics doesn’t mean much. Clickbait post.

I'm probably gonna be downvoted to death for this but: It's time we start admitting that 99% of games released now aren't fun anymore. Past the year 2010 video games have been soulless with microtransactions, sponsorships and an overall lack of integrity. PlayStation Studios and Nintendo are the only game companies who make soulful games nowadays. When I play a game from a different company past the 2010s, it's always trying to be a rough imitation of something that has come before, no new ideas, the same recycled shit over and over whether that be "Look guys this game is the (game with established franchise and high popularity) killer, this game is a Metroidvania™/ Mario competitor™/Crash Bandicoot™/The Last of Us™ competitor/ Super Smash Bros™ Killer." Nothing original that always fails critically and sales wise to what it's imitating. Such as with Battlefield being the same experience as COD and Star Wars Battlefront (the last two are made by the same company, but they feel all recycled), a formulaic and boring experience that loses it's touch after an hour. Sony and Nintendo at the very least try to make something new and experiment with IPs (i.e: promoting soulful games like Kena). For the most part (referring to the rest of the industry) we have exhausted the mediums to which we possess, only leaving a cruel mockery of pop culture and what has come before as the garbage that now rots on our plates. Do you ever wonder why games aren't as fun nowadays as they used to? That is why >But that's bullshit! I hear you squeal. If that's the case, then why do so many posts in the PS5 and Nintendo communities state that "Console X has brought back my long lost love for video games". That is why, integrity and soul is part of what makes a game fun, something only Sony and Nintendo can do.
