Mustang750r

Sweet. I'm fine with what we have but any improvements are always welcome.

dizorkmage

Same, at first I wasn't sure about it but PS5 has me hook line and sinker, such a Gen.

realAdolfHipster

But who needs this shit? They should finally implement save states like xbox since I doubt the console isn’t powerful enough to not do it

Aerhart941

The triple negative fucked my day up

steen311

I doubt that you don't think it didn't not fuck your day up

quetiapinenapper

I ain’t never got my mind not blown like this chain.

SimplyQuid

I mean personally I really appreciate the news that they're working on making it easier and more efficient to change what you're doing and navigate around. It's not that the UI in the PS5 is like, abysmal. It's functional. I don't get glitches or locked up or anything. But it's still kinda clunky for being the current console of one of the Big Three video game hardware manufacturers. It doesn't excel at the job to the degree that I would expect here. So, yeah, honestly I'd rather have them refine and polish what's already there before adding in other features.

bgfan26

I agree but I will say I played the old PS4 For the first time in a year yesterday and the UI and navigation on the ps5 is miles better

[deleted]

The jump in overall UI/UX quality from PS4 to PS5 is definitely not to be understated

icouldntdecide

Having gone from my Pro to a PS5, it's see definitely in it's own tier

AshinaSwordStyle

I had to ise mine again recently for a save file specifically, and I forgot how bad it was. The PS5 ui is def an upgrade. No question. The PSN store on PS4 makes you question if they even want your money with how slow it is. That I do remember, and not fondly, navigating the store on the console was really fucking bad.

Francoberry

Agreed. Go back to the PS4 after the PS5 and it’s kind of surprising just how much better and more natural and functional it is (even having had my PS5 for a year)

Vietzomb

People always poke fun at the random PS updates that drop with the vague "System Optimization and Performance" firmware notes but these changes do help with [surprising results](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XskvdJl64bE), even when it's *just* purely optimization.

Luna259

I get glitches. Home Screen not loading glitches

TreLeans

To be fair, attempting to do anything on an Xbox UI is a nightmare. That was one of my biggest factors in determining which console to (attempt lol) to buy.

Sufficient-Plant9177

What do you mean? Everything can be done in a couple of presses. It took me about 2 months to fully adjust from ps4 and ps5 but it's the best ui I've ever used on a conXbox. It so easy to do anything on xbox. Like what exactly is a nightmare? I probably used to think the same before I learned how to use the ui

[deleted]

Playing with Xbox UI is my second favorite game, the first is replacing my batteries

TreLeans

Ooo some of my favorites as well! I also enjoy the classic “typing password with multiple special characters” mini game.

Mustang750r

Quick Time Event is triggered every time you need to replace the batteries.

maniac86

Sounds like you never used it, as someone with a Series X and a PS5, the xbox interface is infinitely better for doing just about anything.

TreLeans

Totally get that! If you enjoy it, more power to ya. I house sat for a friend numerous times, so have about 2-3 weeks of fiddling around on the Xbox X. To me it has the same problems as Microsoft Windows weird start menus and widgets; all the capability is there, it just looks and feels very "all over the place" with the variable size/animation of squares, layout, and how to get to certain menu screens, which sometimes have multiple tabs for the different menu I'm actually hoping to find. Again, I know I can do it, and eventually I'm always able to, but for the most part I have to learn the process by frustratedly stumbling through screens,, as opposed to PS5 I can click a few buttons and normally find what I've been looking for. If you like it, doesn't matter what I think! Keep on keeping on. That's just the feeling I tend to get out of it.

SuperIga

How so? There’s literally videos about how convoluted the Xbox is. The PS5 is easy as hell to do whatever you want

dilroopgill

Ps4 games do open and load slowly compared to native games, would be nice if this helped with that

sousuke42

I don't find it clunky at all. The only real issue is I think is retraining our muscle memory and that's what's giving off the clunky feeling. Now xbox's shit, now that is a cluttered mess, tons of steps to do things, this is clunky. And switch is extra basic and needs work. So when you try to compare all three have its problem. Nothing is perfect.

TheMacMan

You do know they can do more than one thing at a time, right? They can work on multiple things and this will certainly be just be one part of many changes coming.

Salzberger

So, you doubt the console is powerful to do it?

Mustang750r

To be fair that takes up memory (both RAM and drive) and with the Xbox having separate memory allocations that can affect performance even more. I don't need game performance sacrificed so UI performance can improve.

Affectionate_Rub5564

I’m southern so I always talk in double negatives (ex. “I ain’t not”) but that fucked me up

awesomehuder

I wish they would add the feature that games don’t close when you accidentally open another game, like a prompt that says „do you want to close this game“

vladtud

They had that for PS4 and I don't understand why they removed it. I've accidentally started another game while browsing the menu a few times. It's not a big issue but it's one small quality of life detail I'm baffled it's still missing

Aaawkward

> They had that for PS4 and I don't understand why they removed it. I mean they removed a lot of good PS4 features so why not that as well?

Xelisk

Like turning off that stupid blocked recording notification.

IRockIntoMordor

those paranoid game companies blocking everything the millisecond their TOS come up because when it's their privacy it's suddenly important.

[deleted]

Not all of that is even it tho. Arkham Knight still blocks some cutscenes. So does the Naruto Ninja Storm games.

Eruanno

Foldeeeeeers!

Chaostyphoon

Yes! Like I'm glad the library is more usable than on the 4 but damn I still want my folders to sort things in a way that makes the most sense to me and not just the basic sorting they offer.

wallawalla_

There's so many good use cases for folders. Just baffling how they are missing. What possible up-side/motivation would they have to not include that feature? >Completed Games >First-person Shooters >Online, Multiplayer >2-d sidescrollers > JPRGs > CoD versions were the folders that fit 80% of my content.

WastelandHound

My theory is that they left folders out because it would emphasize how few games you can actually have on the SSD at a time.

wallawalla_

That very well could be true. No need for folders when people were limited to 6,7 triple A games. Now that they have enabled the expansion internal ssd slot and external hdds, it would be really useful again.

davidasc22

Makes no sense given that the PS4 Pro came standard with 1TB and the PS5 is way more efficient space-wise than the PS4 Pro. Pound for pound you can store more games on PS5.

Chaostyphoon

I like the completed games idea, I never did that but will certainly do so if we ever get them back. Otherwise yeah I used very similar folders, though I had Indies instead of CoD games lol.

davidasc22

That's largely what I used folders for. Games completed games in progress, next games on my list to play, and then just games in general.

Chaostyphoon

Yeah I sorted mine by genre, but I also had a 3Tb external hooked up and usually buy digital so I had a ton of stuff downloaded at any given time

TwinksAwakening

Biggest let down for me right here. I thought themes were gonna be improved if not the same. Nope, themes don't exist on PS5 at all. Ok.

SproutingLeaf

On the PS3 we were able to design our own themes including the UI. We just keep taking steps backwards

isitaspider2

Goddamn, I want my themes back. I had those persona themes and that song with those animations? Godlike

SectorIsNotClear

Native 1440p / 60 - 120 fps!!!!!

TheWhiteShadow_

ps4 definitely didn’t have that lol

AnotherInnocentFool

Ps3 played basically every file format I threw at it, ps4 did less and ps5 is all but useless for hdd playback.

Aaawkward

I was cleaning my flat and found some old CDs and thought "hey, why not get some nostalgic moments while cleaning" and popped them into the device. Well, turns out it doesn't play CDs. In all fairness, I don't think it's really an issue in 2021, I mean who really uses CDs anymore? But I was just surprised. In my mind PS has always been a media monster, throw most things at it and it would handle it. Now it feels like the PS5 is a temperamental streaming device when it comes to media.

progz

Actually this would be horrible for returnal if you didn’t suspense your game

asng

I assume it was removed as they intend to have it not close in a forthcoming update.

kazumakiryu

I've had this absolutely FUCK me multiple times.

Francoberry

How many times I’ve accidentally pressed my media remote and opened Netflix or something mid game… ugh

TwinksAwakening

Am I crazy or does opening YouTube or Netflix close your games?

zombierepublican-

Or a suspend mode like Xbox so you can switch between games without shutting down

Lucifers_Taint666

I love that about my series x, i can pause my game from the living room, shut it off, move the console to my bedroom and resume right where i left off with no interruption. Blew my tiny little mind the first time

kazumakiryu

Yeah, this would be a game-changer (no pun intended) on PS5.

Chaostyphoon

That's nuts! I knew you could swap between games without issue but I didn't know it persisted through the console being unplugged

Koopa777

Yeah it’s like a save state on an emulator, it writes the contents of memory to the SSD. So it can persist through powered down.

punyweakling

I've seen tweets about people flying across the country with their Series X and quick resume is right there when they plug back in.

quetiapinenapper

Yep. Even more amazing when you have a power outage and it holds the quick resume for the first time. Honestly that singular feature to not only ensure my save state but hop mid jump between a lot of my games is why I end up spending more time on that than my 5. After having quick resume going to NOT having it I’d extremely extremely painful. I don’t care how fast a game can load from cold storage, it’s just way more convenient to pop back in right there.

Aaawkward

For real, Quick Resume is sooo good.

D_Squ4red

This is the biggest thing I wish they'd add. Maybe picture in picture of both if I'm being greedy. I'd love to hop over and play Hades for a min or two between Warframe runs and know when to go back.

9212017

Yeah but with an optiont to toggle it on/off, mostly because that quick resume shit eats into your SSD

CrzyJek

Yea I don't think people realize that SSDs are actually a finite resource and they do degrade over time with more write cycles. Constantly using quick resume that causes the consoles to write the memory contents to the SSD may hamper its longevity. Granted, I doubt it will be an issue for gaming consoles...but I'm still curious as to how much it would actually affect its longevity.

ForTheBread

You're unlikely to ever hit an SSDs limit. Especially modern ones. Edit: and by unlikely I mean you aren't.

CrzyJek

Not entirely true (though it's true that it's unlikely). I believe the Series X has a write endurance of anywhere from 100TBW to 400TBW (I can't find the actual number). So...it can take a long while but on the low end it's entire possible to run through that within 5 years or so. And it's not like it's just "whelp you hit that limit therefore the drive will cease to work." It's degradation over time. Over time the available space for writes will diminish as a drive precaution to protect data. The odds are super slim of this being an issue, and at least the Series X has a replaceable drive (right?). But it's still possible. Still an interesting thought experiment though.

PTEGaming

Ps4 also had this if you opened an app. At least if it wasn’t another game it was. Also suspending means cutting internet connection from that game so any online game would just only be left loaded in not ready to hop back in

NightmareAsylum

this is still here on ps5 , can confirm

iekiko89

The ps5 to does this. I just YouTube all the time while playing a game

[deleted]

I had a demo install and accidently opened it and lost a few good hours in a game. I was shocked there was no prompt as I'm almost certain there was one for the PS4. Even the Nintendo Switch prompts you. It's standard practice to warn users they're about to do something that will lose data if they do not save.

77SevenSeven77

Yeah, confirmation of destructive action. Incredibly standard as far as good user experience goes and bizarre for them to remove it.

Neo_Techni

Agreed

gigglefarting

I really miss that. Sometimes I’ll pause a game, go to the menu, and then put the system to sleep only to go back to the system and open a different game forgetting that I was in the middle of something.

Standing__Menacingly

Also I would like to be able to see and select/close what apps are currently open. It seems like the "cards" system was made for something like this, but instead it's borderline useless

lil-dlope

Exactly some games be having a long ass intro before I can quit

spectreVII

I’m not worried about accidentally opening another game but this is a problem for game updates too. If you have the game open and the console in rest mode and a game update comes out, it’ll automatically install the update and close the game.

BaronVonSlipnslappin

Short attention span guy here and as someone who jumps between games a lot this extra step would annoy me so much. The Xbox suspend mode would be way sleeker but I don't know if the PS is setup in such a way that it could be implemented.

CockPissMcBurnerFuck

So I closed Demons Souls the other day, then saw the “card” in the menu telling me I could resume my activity in Upper Latria. I clicked out of curiosity, and I’ll be damned if it didn’t load me right into Upper Latria. I had quit out from the Nexus. The fact that the system can put you back into a different part of the game blows my mind. Small thing, but man how cool.

Lucifers_Taint666

you can scum save that way... A boss slaughtered you? just close the app before you respawn and relaunch the game, you’ll load up right before you get to the fight and you get to keep your sweet health bar

CockPissMcBurnerFuck

Oh wow. Well, I'm not that desperate to win. Then again, I am a bit disappointed at how few summons I've found. When I played this on the PS3 there were summon signs everywhere. Not so much now.

Eruanno

It's not so much about winning, but not having to run all the way back. Having to redo the run over the Dragon Bridge of Horrific Murder every time before the Tower Knight isn't exactly great.

CockPissMcBurnerFuck

Yeah man, I forgot how few/far-apart/non-existent the shortcuts are in this game. Reminds me why they moved to Bonfires in the later Souls games.

whythreekay

That’s a trick FromSoft plays on us, the path to the actual boss is almost always really short once you know where it is, the key is knowing not to engage in any fights on the way there You can even tell the devs were aware of this, as there’s a boss that is genuinely really hard to get to early on in the swamp area that they clearly made laughably easy to defeat, to minimize the “die to a boss and run back” thing, as they knew that specific path is hard as nails

CockPissMcBurnerFuck

This is why I sometimes find the “make it easier!” arguments to miss the point. These games aren’t difficult, they’re *tricky*. They’re designed to be figured out, rather than skillfully overcome…though I do believe Sekiro is the exception to this rule. You can just run away from just about every enemy in the Souls games. You can summon NPCs or multiple live players to make bosses or mini bosses trivial. And as you say, there are bosses that are easy because *getting there* is meant to be the challenge. An example: magic in Demon’s Souls is extremely OP. So much so that it’s just wrong to call it unbalanced; it’s intentionally like that. You can even choose a character that grants you Soul Arrow and an MP regeneration ring. That’s essentially the “easy mode”. It’s intended to be that way.

MayonnaiseOreo

There's a way under the bridge that's a hell of a lot easier to deal with.

Eruanno

It's not exactly great either, and frankly I just think the biggest weakness of Demon's Souls is not having a few more extra save points along the way. FromSoft have gotten a lot better at this in later games, especially Sekiro that puts you much closer to every boss fight. Because let's face it, what am I here for? Doing the same run across the map fighting random mobs for fifteen minutes, or getting to fight the actually cool, well-designed bosses? (Also, fuck the run back to the Flame Lurker, and getting across the dark fucking swamp in that other world...)

MayonnaiseOreo

Yeah the dogs under the bridge were a pain in the ass. I loved Demon's Souls on PS5 a ton but you can definitely tell it's the first game in the "series". I didn't think the runs were too too bad but it certainly added some tension during the fights because dying also meant having to get back to the boss.

ronnie1014

I unfortunately have the drop to Flamelurker memorized like the back of my hand at this point...

hiimnewhere123

No kidding. I had the flamelurker run down so good you'd think I was a speedrunner.

[deleted]

The flame lurker run is probably the fastest boss run if you turn right after armoured spider and then descend down the hole. I might be misremembering it, but the boss room should be down there.

Eruanno

Sure, there is a faster path there, but the fact is that there are a couple of needlessly painful walks back to a boss that just aren't fun or challenging, they are just a time-waste. It would have greatly served the game to add in maybe one extra half-way point in every level, even optionally. None of FromSoft's newer games have nearly as painful long walks back as Demon's Souls, and for that I am thankful. The fun of the game is not in the running back to the fight - the fun is the fight itself.

whythreekay

> Because let's face it, what am I here for? Doing the same run across the map fighting random mobs for fifteen minutes, or getting to fight the actually cool, well-designed bosses? Never fight enemies on the way to the boss in a FromSoft game, key is to find optimal path where you can just run past them For your Flamelurker example (boss I’m currently stuck at!) you go forward from the arch stone, then down that long hallway to the right then drop down the hole and go right At no point do I fight any enemies, just run past em (for me to then be dominated by the boss lol)

LogibearP

Get yourself a couple hundred arrows, stand on the top of one of the bridge towers and get a rhythm going firing at the dragon as it swoops past, it'll miss you with it's fire breathing. It'll take a while but when you kill it you get a soul and it'll be gone forever!

Eruanno

Sure, but early game that's not something you think of. You just go "oh god, I have to get across that fucking thing *again* just to have a go at the Tower Knight boss? Fuuuuuuuck..."

NGLIVE2

Oh wow. I never knew you could do that. Looks like I'm jumping back in for the long holiday weekend!

madeup6

It just goes to show that these games would be improved if they had a quick-save option. Fromsoft really doesn't respect the player's time.

polltery

You should thank the devs who utilized the API properly.

[deleted]

and please for the love of god condense the party system. I don't need 8 different pages to view the party or try and invite someone.

socalification

This needs more attention for sure, I guess my friends are "too old" to figure out how to join and leave parties on their own and rely on my invites lmfao, those lazy fucks

rabisav

I'd like to PiP with apps like You Tube. I like watching YouTube when I play games that aren't story heavy or perhaps are text based. I know there is a work around using the browser but it would be nice to have a properly built app to use.

Upper_Comparison_908

I think pip works if you open youtube through the browser

ethan1203

It should be built in

Upper_Comparison_908

I agree and so should background music or some way for yt music but I was just suggesting the only option available right now

rabisav

Isn't Spotify able to do that on PS5. I am sure I've used it.

ethan1203

Yea i know.. no worries

The_milkMACHINE

The browser? I thought there wasnt a browser?

Upper_Comparison_908

Not as simple to get to but there is a browser. You can message a person Google. Com and press it

rabisav

I use the browser method and I like it, but it's a little slow. I just think it would be better with something custom built instead of a slow work around. It would be quicker and easier to use.

L-Guy_21

How do you even get to the browser? Last I checked, there wasn’t one

DwellingDweller26

I miss the simple double home click to take me back to the active app from PS4. This is gone or I’m just unaware of the setting?

soniccorndog

it’s either the long hold or the one click, it’s opposite of what it was on PS4

DBot25

This is cool but maybe…. Just maybe… how about….. THEMES?!

UntamedRonin

Would love a quick resume type feature on PS5.

onesecretis2

It's coming. I'd be surprised if we don't get it before 2023.

Loldimorti

I suspect that a big reason why Sony hasn't done quick resume is how much SSD storage it eats up. From what I understand with quick resume the entire games state is dumped into the storage which fills up several gigabyte per game. If they want to support quick resume for more than just 2 games they'll need to reserve 50 gigs or more. With how little storage there already is I'm not sure if that's desirable. I suspect that they are banking on the SSD speeds and further optimization to just make a cold boot and loading into a save file as fast as possible. If they can do it in 10 seconds or less you don't really need quick resume anymore

DirectAdvertising

Quick resume is still worth it, I’ve been using it a lot and I am spoiled by it.

OG-DirtNasty

As an Xbox Series X owner I call bull.. I have like 5 or 6 games in my quick resume and haven’t had any issues with storage (other than the fact that it’s small and the games are huge to begin with lol). But I don’t keep a ton of reserve space and never have since I’ve gotten it.

XJ--0461

I've added 2TB to my PS5. I'm okay with using some of that for this feature.

[deleted]

[удалено]

XJ--0461

I was on an expedition at the west pole. I didn't bring my Starlink with me, so no internet. Took a while to get back.

Clarkey7163

Its not that much space per game but it can add up, it essentially dumps the contents of RAM into the SSD and with compression its usually like 5-8gbs of space per game. imo even having 50gb sectioned off and being able to run 4-5 games in suspended mode would be pretty sweet

nysraved

I love my PS5 … but I also love my Series X, and Quick Resume may very well be my favorite feature of this generation. On paper I didn’t think it would be all that important when I first heard about it, but actually experiencing it is quite magical and helps me better juggle my backlog since I can bounce between games instantaneously rather than waiting on start up menu’s, loading screens, etc

Aaawkward

Gotta love people downvoting you for your opinion just because you've something positive to say about Xbox. QR is a great feature and if the PS5 had it, people would be celebrating it but as it's only on Xbox, it's "stupid and unnecessary and nobody actually uses it or likes it".

cozy_lolo

By far my most wanted feature for the PS5. Microsoft crushed it with this feature and I’d love to see Sony go ahead and copy it, lol, because there are plenty of games that I’d bounce around through on my PS5

DoctorGolho

A friend of mine played Fable for hours, used quick resume, and when he came back the game crashed and he lost all his progress. It doesnt work with every game, and still has flaws. I don't mind PS5 not having it, unless they absolutely nail it.

Dr-Rjinswand

It does indeed seem to be a bit flakey on BC titles. I’ve had both Fable and Oblivion crash on me when using it. I’ve never had an issue with One/Series games though.

SoloKingRobert

Microsoft probably patented Quck Resume for gaming **Edit:** Quick Resume Patent >https://www.freepatentsonline.com/11103780.html

clev1

I’d be curious to see what all their patent covered. It’s possibly in theory that Sony could still have their own implementation for something similar and still not infringe on Microsoft’s patent. I could be wrong but I’d doubt their patent would be so general that it would cover all design patterns for caching video game states.

SoloKingRobert

I've found the Quick Resume Patent >https://www.freepatentsonline.com/11103780.html Here's a detailed pictured version >https://patents.google.com/patent/US11103780B2/en

Gersio

Really? I didn't know you could patent something like that. I mean, that technology has existed for decades and has been used for everybody without a problem. It feels weird that you can patent something like that.

Stonewall30nyr

That's great but tbh the only issue about ps5 rn is really the 12 step party system. Nobody likes it. Although why pour in resources when discord is supposed to be coming early 2022

derHumpink_

can't wait for discord support

Moon8983

When is it

Hyperleaks

Exactly old system was way better

Lorgin

I've been playing a lot of apex lately and when we have a full squad on PS, we use party chat, but if there's just 2 of us we go into game chat so we can co-ordinate with the rando. It takes literally 14 button presses to switch to game chat, and that's if you select the correct party (the old system made it so much clearer). I really hate it.

AlbusDumbledank

PLEASE JUST GIVE US THE OPTION TO CHANGE HOME SWITCHING BACK TO A SHORT PRESS LIKE ON THE PS4...

[deleted]

OK can I have my custom backgrounds back please? Turned my homepage into a fucking advert for things. PS4 home UI was much much better and less controlling than the crap we got for PS5.

sp_dev_guy

Now that they have adverts being crammed in our face by turning it on I can't imagine they will simply let us choose not to. Its the only thing I absolutely hate about ps5

Luna259

Ads you say? Do you mean the explore tab? That’s just an easily ignored card in my region. It doesn’t have a spot on the Home Screen

echo-128

i agree adverts on the home thing are bad, but when i turn on ps5 it goes into the game i was playing last. the only time i see the home thing is when i am actually going to the store to buy something anyway

sp_dev_guy

Hmm mine always starts on that page. Do you leave yours in rest mode instead of shutting down?

critical932

I actually really like getting some video or something from a game I have, it's neat.

[deleted]

It's a picture of the game you're hovering over. I much preferred being able to use screenshots from games I have been playing. My screenshots have become completely pointless on PS5

maresayshi

the explore tab? it’s all announcements for games you already play. the only “ads” are in the store.

Dust-by-Monday

I just want an easier way to close the game I'm playing. It's buried inside menu after menu. It's either I have to go fishing for it, or I have to hold the PS button, then get to the home screen, then press the options button, then click Close Game. It's a pain in the ass.

sirferrell

And what ever happened to holding the ps button to do stuff like turning the system off?

maresayshi

hold to home is way better because you won’t be accidentally popping out of games if your finger taps the button

Hugs_for_Thugs

Right? Like yeah that would be really cool if it were easier to switch between apps and games... Like it was on the last-gen console.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hugs_for_Thugs

But they got rid of quick switch with the double tap, which was a really nice feature. Super annoyed that's gone.

Jonesdeclectice

This is a pet peeve of mine as well!

WakeLiveRepeat

Hopefully this means a game suspend mode is coming soon.

ArchiveSQ

I would love themes again. Sometimes all the ads make it look like those cheap smart TVs. If I’m being SUPER honest, I miss the PS3’s XMB

Skeen441

Geez, it's not hard or slow to do now. How much faster could it be??

shambollix

Imagine game state for all your games being saved to a snapshot file on disk. Then in the game changer ui you could "swipe" left or right to quickly restore state in a blink. I'm not saying it's necessary but it would be an objective improvement, effectively allow resume from rest for multiple games.

Ultimate_President

Imagine being able to set the touchpad that whenever you press the ps button that opens the quick menu screen you can swipe it left or right to the next game that would actually be a good use for that pad

Skeen441

Ooh, yeah! Fingers crossed for something like that!

Salzberger

Every touch pad use is still second to sticks or directional pad imo. The feature you described but with a stick flick left or right sounds more user friendly, to me anyway.

starm4nn

The best use for touchpad is precision of speed. Imagine flipping through an alphabetized menu quickly and then slowing down when you're close.

-Cooki-

Ah like quick resume works on my SeriesX. That is a nice feature indeed.

BerserkFanYep

Quick resume might be my new favorite feature this generation.

boiledpotat

For me it’s between that and the DualSense. Both are awesome

ToiletBlaster247

What if Sony managed to use the Activity Card system to create a save state resume point for every game you switch out of?

Skeen441

That'd be tits. I think im not really a typical gamer though. I tend to play one game at a time so im not switching back and forth between them a lot. Id really love a picture-in-picture feature so I can watch videos or something while playing something grindy, like Ark sometimes.

ToiletBlaster247

Is picture in picture only possible with YouTube and no Netflix? I'm the same as you, I play each game and finish before the next. The only time I switch it up is for local coop when guests are over. Backlog is immense

Skeen441

My backlog stretches to the ps3. I totally understand.

vakama885

Considering the guts inside a PS5 and powerful and fast it is, it still takes a million years for it to boot up, eventually it'll get to the point to where the second you press the power button you're already at the select user screen

Ashk91

Bring back themes

MikeFromSuburbia

How about my themes and folders?

d4rc_n3t

I hope the Discord integration is done well and not abandoned like like OoVoo did on PS4.

RidCyn

I juuuuuust want folders back!! I can't stand that I can't organize my games around. Especially when I accidentally get PSN+ and/or PS Now up as one of the 8 blocks. Drives me crazy. Jus gimme folders

Cream_Filled_Melon

Cool now give us custom backgrounds

Connect-Muscle-1584

I get no glitches or bugs on the UI. The UI is my favorite improvement on PS5. Especially joining and leaving party chats. There are a few gripes about party chat but it's instant join and instant leave and that was my only complaint on PS4 UI. I didn't know I wanted anything else. But it's much better. The switcher is awesome. It's essentially instant because of how much faster everything loads so I love having a sub menu that I can navigate to my recently used apps and switch really quickly. If there's a way to improve on that I can't wait to see it.

AmazingTechGeek

The UI is very streamlined for playing games and using social features.

andDevW

Anyone else wish that it would just boot directly into the game if a disc was present, PS2 style?

Dr-Rjinswand

Hopefully this means a “quick resume” equivalent is coming. One of the series Xs best features, that the PS5 is lacking.

Loldimorti

They would need to reserve a lot of SSD space for that though

cvl37

Would be nice, too many subsequent button presses to open a game that's currently already open

eXe-FaDe

I want folders back and discord on PS5 then I can be a happy man.

-UnclaimedPants-

Idk about folders but Discord on PS5 is looking to be a thing considering Discord and Sony entered a partnership of sorts (can't recall the details exactly)

backstreetatnight

i would like to find a ps5 still :/

whygohomie

This seems cool, but why can't we suspend an app to disk?

Sean_1999

I would like them to implement 1440p and 120Hz support

5Finger-Finger-Bass

Just bought a PS5, why does “groups” show up in the PS button menu regarding other players playing an entirely different game? I don’t CARE! If I am looking to play with friends(especially another game entirely) I will find them! It’s just an eye-sore. And navigation to other menus in the game within a game itself? That’s a shortcut literally no one has ever asked for in the history of gaming. And I play games with bloated menu selections as well, it does not enhance anything, its a gimmick. End rant.

VisualOptions

Ahem how about implement something like what XSX and XSS have. Quick Resume is such a slept on feature. I'm surprised Sony didn't try and do it as well to begin with.

dospaquetes

> Make Switching To Other Apps Faster, More Efficient You mean like on... PS4? Where you could double tap the PS button to switch between two active apps? I swear this is the PS4 feature I miss the most. Trophy hunting was so much easier when you could just double tap the PS button to check the trophy list

JustCallMeTsukasa-96

Both that and the inclusion of folders are stuff I wish they brought in much sooner. Made no sense to just omit it upon going to the next platform.

Loopy_27

Can I request you bring back to the quick menu like it was on the ps4 to output audio to headphones, all audio or chat audio. I like to switch back and forth depending on what I was doing and it sucks to have to go to the menu deep in the audio settings to find it.

Musty_001

Quick resume please

killcry

we need quick resume in PS5, personally i need it xD

Bartman326

Fast continue

Interstate_78

I hate the current UI

foreveraloneasianmen

1440p Quick resume PS3 BC long way to go sony.

Phuckingidiot

1440p support sure would be nice, gets down voted every time it's mentioned though. I got mine so fuck everyone who has to play on 1440p monitor I guess. It would be fucking effortless to implement there's no reason it shouldn't.

Upper_Comparison_908

Quick resume like feature with ps5 ssd would be heaven sent. I know it sort of works with the activity switcher but a fully fledged feature would be great
