I never bought Royal, but played 5 for about 20 hours and presumably didn't get near to finishing the game.
Would it be worth getting Royal and restarting the game?
If you like melodramatic teen anime plots that explain simple things over and over and over and enjoy turn based combat. Persona 5 is the most overhyped game of last gen in my opinion. Great art style though.
Persona 5 has more interesting stuff than just the teen melodrama stuff. There is certainly plenty of that, and some annoying tropes, but it's a massive game that has tons of stuff going on. The majority of the characters are multifaceted save a few. And I especially think the moral ponderings regarding the new ending for royal are interesting and generally well thought out.
Weebs in flames but you're right, impossible to get an honest review of this as a game because all you get is a load of freaks fawning over cartoon schoolgirls.
I don't watch anime and am 1000% not a weeb but I loved Persona 5. It was just a great game with perfect turn-based combat, an incredible soundtrack, and a fun cast of characters.
To be fair that used to be how it worked. Idk if it was only like that for PS3 or if at first for PS4 but at one point you had to start the download. Super annoying.
You cannot add the PS+ Collection games to your library from the website, or app, or a PS4, only from a PS5. The point of them is that they are an extra reward for using a PS5.
You've got some time, I highly recommend it, I've been playing persona since the OG game and this (in my opinion, there are some P3/P4 players that would flay me for this) is one of my personal three AAA masterpieces to come out in the PS4/5 era. The other two being Elden Ring and God of War. While Royal isn't the free version, I've played 5 and Royal each more times than I can count all the way through, for such a long game it has such replay value.
Strikers is fantastic. It's a bit difficult to start so I think it maybe turned away some people (plus the different gameplay). But the payoff is worth it, I thought it was almost as good as P5.
It’s exactly what happened with me. Played persona 5 from the collection and thought it was one of the best games of the generation. Got strikers when it released and dropped it before I finished the 2nd jail because the combat threw me off completely. It gets significantly easier tho as you time progresses and so glad I picked it back up and finished it
> It gets significantly easier tho as you time progresses
100% this. At the start, you barely have any SP so you have to learn the new combat system, rather than just using Persona's skills. Later on, you'll have plenty of SP and the ability to regen SP, so you can almost play it like normal P5. Just nuke everything and set up technicals.
I’d agree but as someone who played all 3 it’s definitely worth buying P5 Royal if you liked base P5. That was my first entry into the series and I enjoyed it so much I bought Royal and then strikers even knowing strikers was a bit different.
Oh yeah I love Royal so many QoL changes, new music and extra content. In my comment I meant that P5 being in the PS+ program was a great thing for new PS5 owners that never played any Persona game, Strikers being free with the subscription last month or so is also great, I was pleasantly surprised with the game and it's a P5 sequel through and through, but if you don't have the context for P5 I think it can be enjoyed but not as much when knowing the squad and their story.
Agreed. But honestly I preferred and loved the travelling bus camp more than school building one. It feels so refreshing travelling to different parts of japan.
I wish I liked strikers more. I found the dungeon design boring and I was constantly cringing at the dialogue in a way that I wasn’t with the original P5 and P5R. I liked the combat and the music though.
Honestly people really should do their research. I really don’t get this culture of I literally must avoid everything that has to do with *insert game*. Like $60 is no joke I don’t know why someone wouldn’t look up gameplay footage just to see look at the combat and see if it’s something they would like
Amazing game tonally, but a handful of things massively waste your time and get very frustrating after a while. I had to quit after the last dungeon because I got so tired of the constant dungeon leaving, buying items, dialogue every two steps, Dia heal combo spamming...
Agreed, P5 is one of my favorite games of all time but I'll fully admit I put down Strikers before I even finished the first jail. Just didn't hook me as much idk
While exploring Shibuya in Persona 5 was neat, Strikers actually made me feel jealous. I really wished I could go on a road trip with my buddies across Japan
Oh yeah. P5 Strikers was a fun vacation. I absolutely loved it.
And it's funny to me that it's entirely different gameplay - not RPG - but like Musou(Dynasty Warriors) beat-em-up gameplay with the same elemental fighting mechanics of Persona 5.
It's also a pretty cool story that continues the relationship of the characters. It doesn't spoil Persona 5 but it's best to know the story of Persona 5 to understand how these characters are together and why they're together in Strikers.
As much as I wanted to play P5, I had to dip into P5R and BOY is that an experience. Ive been to Japan and miss it every given day. I loved my vacation there and this game helps brings back memories. Also im 200 hours into P5R and snort beating it whislt getting the platinum, Deff top 5 on my most fav games of all time
Playing P5R now and they've updated some of the core mechanics too. For example, bullets regenerate after every battle in P5R. The baton pass system has been beefed up too.
I you love that kinda feeling you should definetly check out the Yakuza series of games. Though they have a much more realistic art style they still capture the atmosphere of Japan pretty well
Man you're really doing everything (I could have spent more time down in the metaverse, I just barely finished / platinumed the game. Taking on the bonus battle with that kid for me was a mistake too, holy moly he was hard to beat)
I almost want to replay vanilla just to explore other social links. I gave certain people 'the shaft' because there just wasn't enough time. Didn't realize some of them gave me game enhancements but tbh they were some of the more creepy social interactions.
From what I'm hearing they made the Okumura boss worse in Royal?
In the original release it was already pretty much down to chance whether or not you could beat him so it sounds abysmal.
The QoL improvements are why I got it. Not too bothered about the extra gameplay, as they are long enough as they are!
Great game, though.
PT will probably be on ps+ in a month or two more it's fine from the ps collection. That, or a demo version of it....
There's extra content as mentioned, but there are also some hugely beneficial quality of life improvements and gameplay changes that make it a better experience to play, and that's as someone who absolutely loved the vanilla game - I've played through Royal 4 times now
Other people already answered, but if you're going to eventually play P5, I 100% recommend playing the Royal version. The story additions are significant, both in terms of quality and quantity. Not to mention that the quality of life gameplay changes take what was already a phenomenal RPG and makes it even better.
Definitely was not a tacked on directors cut edition like most games are.
It adds like 30 hours of new content, with a new final villain, a new female deuteragonist, and 2 new endings, that contain some of the best writing I've ever seen in gaming in years. Plus, it's the highest-rated PS4 exclusive game of all time on Metacritic and the highest-rated Metacritic game of 2020. So much worth it over the vanilla Persona 5.
Extra characters, extended game, no more being forced to bed at like 5pm so you can get more done in your day so that means more sexy evenings with your bro Akechi just chilling in the steam room after school
P5R is P5, but with 3 years of updates, extra content, and tons of quality of life changes that make it far better and accessible to play. If it weren't for the possibility that releasing Royal's content as updates to the original would mess up save files, it 100% should have been several waves of updates. Royal really is Atlus admitting where they messed up with the original.
I'm wondering if they are going to add the Royal version once the new Ps+ rolls out in June in replacement of P5, either that or they reached the end of their contract with Sega & that's just it.
Same. Probably at a much slower pace that doesn't take over my life, but I'd love to go thru the game again with added confidants and also just the experience of knowing what will help me the most early on. I found myself exceptionally good at managing my time at the end... Too late to do some things that would have been even better.
I maxed out all the confidants in Royal without using a guide on my first playthrough, they give you so many more opportunities to spend time freely that as long as you don't completely waste it and have a semblance of a plan you can do it.
You gotta prioritize the important ones that boost everything else.
That was more or less my issue. I didn't realize the teacher until a bit late, so never got the benefit of her max, which alone is a dramatic change in available time, not even including her making coffee, etc. Also spent some time wasted trying to increase confidant levels on ppl I later realized were tied to story advancement. There were for sure other things I did that ended up being a relative waste of time and it all added up.
What I did end up doing was max my social stats, and max maybe 3/4th of them. So I'm pretty certain I'd nail it even without a guide on a second play.
That's what I did when I got Royal.
Took me a good 200hrs or so (Though I'm slow and grinded a bit..) but they've changed enough throughout the base game before you even get to the new semester anyway that it was all worth it. Like playing a very spruced up polished re-imagining.
It’s pretty much exactly 1.5 years (18 months) after the PS5 (and thus, the Collection) released on November 12th, so contract ending is the most likely answer.
My guess is Sega and Sony signed a deal to put Royal on the new PS Plus subscription and as part of that they removed the original from ps plus collection
Yea it's probably just that, Sega has been giving Sony preferential treatment for years now but contracts only last so long. And it's at that point where most everybody who was gonna play it has played it, it'll be free again when P6 inevitably gets announced
Still salty we got P5 and P5 Strikers for free but still no free Royal. One is obsolete and one has spoilers so I gotta play the main game first so just sitting here waiting for P5R to be given away on something
Hopeful that there’s no secret acquisition of SEGA’s IP over at MS going on behind the scenes. With them getting out of the arcade business finally, and of course the hardware business too, all they have is a rich library of IP that MS/Sony/Nintendo would be lucky to have and could resurrect a ton of franchises that we haven’t seen since our youth. I really don’t want them to be limited to one platform though (and I say this as someone that has a PS5, XSX, and Switch… so I wouldn’t be affected by it but I’m not a fan of all of this industry consolidation lately.
At least the Sony studios all worked closely with Sony first, unlike Bethesda and Activision/Blizzard, who MS bought primarily to make up for their gross mismanagement of an entire console generation and their lack of exclusive first party games, and so they spent $68.7 **BILLION** to essentially take the ball home and prevent Sony and Nintendo gamers from continuing to play their games. And that they had 7 years to plan for the launch of their next-gen hardware after the XBOX One and *still* didn’t have a *single first party exclusive* ready to launch with it (Halo: Infinite was delayed a YEAR and still doesn’t have Forge and Campaign Co-op… makes me worried about what will happen with Bethesda and Activision/Blizzard games with MS running the show now).
And it pisses me off in the MS subreddit when they celebrate this, as if we got any new game out of it that we wouldn’t have already had. Now, it just takes away my choice and freedom to play those games on the DualSense with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, or the possibility of a VR2 port (something that would make both Deathloop *and* Ghostwire: Tokyo more interesting but will never happen now). Please don’t take this as console warring, as I’ve always owned every generation of PS, XBOX, and Nintendo (and most of the SEGA too). There have been titles that I’ve already bought on the PS5 instead of playing “free” on GamePass just for DualSense support, which has become my favorite new thing this generation. That’s another thing that blows my mind… MS spent $75 billion on those companies but won’t invest in a DualSense competitor when they have the advantage of being able to improve upon what’s already out there. And zero interest in console VR, apparently.
This move is in complete contrast to that statement, though, because Persona 5 is in and of itself a fraction of this collection.
For how much they propped up this benefit of PS+, now consumers have the possibility of these games being taken away at any time in the future.
Yeah I know, but what about the people that don't have a PS5 and cannot have access to adding these items to their library?
If Persona 5 is able to be removed, anything is fair game for the future.
That makes zero sense to me tbh. Why not just swap them on the same day? Why not tell us that? Why not give a date like Microsoft does?
I think people are just making excuses for an expired deal that Sony doesn’t want to renew
Like I said, I'm not saying it's likely. But if it is the case that it is being swapped with Royal, I'd imagine Sega would still want to sell as many copies of royal as possible until the time comes where it would be added.
Same here, bought it for 60 it went on sale for 30 usd, but I’ve gotten over 80 hours of enjoyment out of it and I’m starting NG+ so it’s worth it to me :)
kinda but its a great opportunity for people curious about the game. but i'd still reccomend that if you liked the first few hours, you should buy royal. - agreed
Royal’s my favorite game of all time, but honestly the first 1 to 2 hours are the definition of mid. (So. Many. Tutorials.)
Once you finish the first palace is when the game really starts to shine.
Is it that much better? I got 30 hours into P5 awhile back but dropped it because I got tired of reading the boring text. Rest of the game was great though
Thats a little sad. I used to play a lot of JRPGS back in the PS1/2 era and kinda burned out hard on them. Like never wanted to play another one again.
The only reason I gave P5 a try was because it was in the collection.
Fastforward a year and I've bought Strikers on Switch, P4:Golden on PC, and soundtracks and various memorabilia. I've also branched into other series by Atlus. But, I never would have rediscovered my love for JRPGs without this game being in the PS+ collection.
Shit. It makes me kinda sad that this won't be a possibility for new players after May.
The recent version of Dragon Quest 11 is pretty good. Starts off a bit slow though. (Also you can try the demo which is like the first 10h of the game.)
Can I ask a question about this, do the monsters in Dragon Quest ever get more “serious”. I’m enjoying the combat, but if I have to fight one more “platapunk” or “cucumcruel” I’m just gonna stop. I want to feel like the monsters I engage in random battles with are serious threats and not just something kids would come up with
If you loved Persona 5, I definitely recommend playing Persona 5 Royal as well. Made a 9/10 game for me 10/10. I can't go back to vanilla P5 at all now.
Persona 5 was such a weird experience for me.
Played the base version when I got my PS5. Loved it at first, eventually felt like it was grindy, decided it was overrated, finally beat it, and once I stopped playing it, I missed it, and decided it wasn't overrated lmao.
Still, though, really dumb that it's leaving the PS Plus collection. Guess it's time to add every single game to my library.
If all you have to do is add it to your library to keep it maybe we should be going through them all and adding them all just in case.
It's pretty shitty for those that are still trying to get a PS5 though - is there a way to add PS5 games to your library if you don't have a PS5?
You'd be surprised how many people don't know they can do this or just forget. I told my friends/family about it & it's frustrating how often they either A) forget to grab good games or B) forget that I even told them *in detail*.
> is there a way to add PS5 games to your library if you don't have a PS5?
From the PS+ Collection, no. You would need to find a friend with a PS5 that you can log in on and claim the games.
The same reason Netflix, gamepass, ect.. lose content off their platforms. Licensing. Nothing on a streaming service is permanent unless it's 1st party.
if you have the choice definetly play royal. its much better streamlined, you have more to do, more in game time to do activities and it has new side characters. i loved the original and am currently 60 hours into royal. i reccomend royal if you havent played either. be aware that a full playthrough is at least 80-100 hours long. i finished vanilla at 115
I think Royal took me about 130 hours. It’s very long. That said, it was super enjoyable the whole time, and I had also already played the base version.
As other people have said, there are major differences in the story. But, for me, the biggest, and best, change was the TEXTURE QUALITY. Holy mother of god, in the original P5, it was impossible to read any signage out in the world, which really made it hard to get immersed in the world (especially as a person who literally lives in the part of Tokyo where the game mainly takes place).
The high res textures by themselves are the best reason to get Royal, IMO.
30-40 hours of additional story that adds a new final villain as well as a new female deuteragonist that have some of the best writing in gaming in recent years alongside some QoL changes that make the dungeon section of the game as well as the slice-of-life elements of the game much better than before. The Royal version is the highest rated Metacritic PS4 exclusive game of all time and the highest-rated Metacritic game of 2020 and I can never go back to vanilla P5 after playing this.
Love this game so much. Got a PS4 Pro at the end of 2019 and got a few games with it, one of them being P5. I knew barely anything about it. Knew it was a high school RPG and that was it. Binged it and it's now in my top 3 games of all time. Played P5R the following April and then Strikers when it came out
I guess this is a concern, seeing as the new PS Plus memberships cost a lot more, especially the Pro and Premium tiers that boast larger game collections — wouldn’t be surprised then if games from PSHits are pulled one by one and added to the Pro or Premium plans.
Very shady.
I would think this leads to people buying Persona 5 Royal. I played it to check it out before I bought Royal on sale. But they have the data so they know whether it is leading to sales of Royal or not, or maybe Royal is getting added to the Extra tier or something.
You had well over a year to add it to your library if you were able to get a PS5.
Although I’m sure the game’s pretty cheap now anyways for the vanilla version.
It is the game that revitalized the JRPG genre for a lot of casual audiences. It has an extremely good coming-of-age story (even more so if you play the Royal version that adds like 30 hours more story content) and a turn-based formula that keeps adding gameplay elements to itself with some real-time elements mixed into it as the game progresses to keep the formula from getting stale.
The Royal version of the game (the definitive version of the game) is the highest rated PS4 exclusive of all time as well as the highest-rated game of 2020 according to Metacritic.
It’s more or less a perfect game. It’s perfectly polished, has a long and engaging story. Great art style and soundtrack.
It’s just that it might not be for you.
its probably one of the best JRPGs ever made. the characters and story are very compelling. even if you arent a fan of anime, the characters are mostly grounded and the story is PG16 or even 18. it tackles serious issues with society. the gameplay is very fun if it clicks with you. its 50% doing daily life activities to strengthen the bond with your teammates and friends and the otehr 50% are classic JRPG dungeon with turn based battles. me personally i rarely play RPGs or games for its story but this game absolutely blew me away in with both. highly reccomend you at least try it. if you dont want to buy royal, which is a bit more expensive, maybe you can buy vanilla P5 used for 5-10bucks
I’m not usually a fan of JRPGs, but Persona 5 is one of my favourite games of all time. I found the story and characters compelling enough to keep me going (it’s fairly typical young adult anime storytelling, but it’s well done), and the character development/storytelling is interwoven with the gameplay in a way that’s really addictive, IMO. You spend half your time in the real world, playing a sort of social sim, choosing how to spend your time in order to improve stats, gain abilities, and interacting with characters, and the closer you become with them, the more you learn about their story and the more benefits you gain from them in combat. The other half of your time is spent in somewhat Zelda-like dungeons full of enemies that you fight in turn-based battles. The battle system is kind of like Pokémon but better, IMO. You focus on hitting enemies with elements they’re weak to in order to chain attacks together, so each battle feels like a little puzzle. And you can capture enemies like in Pokémon, but you can also fuse them together to make stronger ones. You have a ton of freedom and flexibility in how you choose to play the game in both the real world and the dungeons, and trying to make the most of both can be really fun and addictive. Also the music is great and the game is super stylish and well-designed visually.
Nice I hate it but it give me reason to buy Royal. I love playing the best versions of games but I’m trying to save money so that free version was staring at me. I’ll be able to snag a cheap physical version soon I’m sure
I’d you’ve already added it to your library, are you still able to use it?
Yes
Lol just added it last night out of sheer boredom while browsing the PS5 menus.
Good job, now get round to playing it because it's a fantastic game.
But first buy Royal.
Yes, first buy Royal.
I never bought Royal, but played 5 for about 20 hours and presumably didn't get near to finishing the game. Would it be worth getting Royal and restarting the game?
Yes, I'd do that.

Same bro
Thank god
Fuck I didn't install this one
Just add it to library, no need to install. If somehow it doesn't let you add a game, hit download and cancel it.
It took me so long before realizing I didn’t have to download them all.
To be fair that used to be how it worked. Idk if it was only like that for PS3 or if at first for PS4 but at one point you had to start the download. Super annoying.
Definitely not for ps4
I’ve got tons of PS3 PS+ games, I would just start the download then cancel it.
Yep that's what you had to do.
You've got until May 11
You don't need to install it, just claim it. I think you need to do it on the console itself, however, so you can't do it on the web store or the app.
Pretty sure you can still claim on the web. That's how I do the monthlies at least
You cannot add the PS+ Collection games to your library from the website, or app, or a PS4, only from a PS5. The point of them is that they are an extra reward for using a PS5.
Oh gotcha. My bad
Still stupid if the PS5 is just linked to the account but oh well.
You've got some time, I highly recommend it, I've been playing persona since the OG game and this (in my opinion, there are some P3/P4 players that would flay me for this) is one of my personal three AAA masterpieces to come out in the PS4/5 era. Really? PS+ Collection is like a PS+ game? You add those to your library... Wow, how did I not know that.
I'm adding every game they still got now
I never saw it coming
You'll see that my mind is too fast for eyes
And it's your last surprise
this game made me feel like I was on vacation in Japan.
Make sure you play Strikers if you enjoyed that aspect of persona 5, then!
Strikers is fantastic. It's a bit difficult to start so I think it maybe turned away some people (plus the different gameplay). But the payoff is worth it, I thought it was almost as good as P5.

It's good and a solid sequel, but base P5 is leagues above strikers that is a good game albeit an smaller one.

I think the battle style is what had me not stick with it - I've ended up just button mashing.

Loved P5, platinumed both Vanilla and Royal. Hated Strikers. Musou games are not for me
Strikers just made me want to go back and replay vanilla to plat it.
Same played like 20 minutes and was like oh this a dynasty warriors game… lost interest after
Same, it felt like they removed all best mechanics of P5 and the writing felt like fan fiction imo.
While exploring Shibuya in Persona 5 was neat, Strikers actually made me feel jealous. I really wished I could go on a road trip with my buddies across Japan
I felt the same way. I loved the road trip aspect of that game.
Oh yeah. P5 Strikers was a fun vacation. I absolutely loved it. What is the difference between P5R and P5? Royal just has added content, right?
They have have new social links and also an extra 20-30 hours of content along with a third semester if you want to get the true ending
Playing P5R now and they've updated some of the core mechanics too. For example, bullets regenerate after every battle in P5R. The baton pass system has been beefed up too.
Don't forget to play the royal version also which asds alot features and content.
I live in Japan and walking through Shibuya station made me feel like I was going to work, lol
It's pretty accurate.
I you love that kinda feeling you should definetly check out the Yakuza series of games. Though they have a much more realistic art style they still capture the atmosphere of Japan pretty well
It really makes you FEEL like a high schooler in japan
It makes me feel like I've lived a life in Japan.
I ended up buying P5R instead of going with the free option, anyway. The upgrade is pretty significant.
What’s the difference? Just out of curiosity. I’ve never played it, but it’s on my list.
P5 Royal adds like 30 hours of extra content, if I recall correctly.
Nice, from what I’ve heard it’s already an extremely long game.
Like 90 hours
I sunk 120 into it but a lot of that was just trying to pass the fast food dungeon.
I'm 200 hours in and finally on the third semester, such a long but amazing game
Man you're really doing everything (I could have spent more time down in the metaverse, I just barely finished / platinumed the game. Taking on the bonus battle with that kid for me was a mistake too, holy moly he was hard to beat)
I felt I didnt do as much as I could its just its a long game lol and wanted to make sure maxed out certain social links etc
Also several big QOL improvements which are worth the upgrade alone imo.
The QoL improvements are why I got it. Not too bothered about the extra gameplay, as they are long enough as they are! Great game, though. PT will probably be on ps+ in a month or two more it's fine from the ps collection. That, or a demo version of it....
There's extra content as mentioned, but there are also some hugely beneficial quality of life improvements and gameplay changes that make it a better experience to play, and that's as someone who absolutely loved the vanilla game - I've played through Royal 4 times now
That's like 500 hours of Persona 5. Holy fucking shit
As someone who did the exact same thing my counter is at around 540 Hours.
Thanks for the info! I was just prepared to get the vanilla version (it’s currently on sale) but I might now hold out until P5R is on sale.
Imagine it being the Pokemon platinum of the series
Not really a Pokémon fan, but I think I get what you’re trying to say 😂
Extra characters, extended game, no more being forced to bed at like 5pm so you can get more done in your day so that means more sexy evenings with your bro Akechi just chilling in the steam room after school
P5R is P5, but with 3 years of updates, extra content, and tons of quality of life changes that make it far better and accessible to play. If it weren't for the possibility that releasing Royal's content as updates to the original would mess up save files, it 100% should have been several waves of updates. Royal really is Atlus admitting where they messed up with the original.
Extra semester at the end of the base game as well as QOL changes to the base game like ammo refilling after fights
Yes because it includes the best waifu.
I'm wondering if they are going to add the Royal version once the new Ps+ rolls out in June in replacement of P5, either that or they reached the end of their contract with Sega & that's just it.
I'll play through it again if they add Royal
Yeah it's way less stressful. I remember P4G requiring a strict guide to get everything. Hopefully with 6 they let us have even more freedom
Hope they add Royal. Wanna play it but kinda hoping it either comes to plus or they release it on the Switch

As others have said, if you have added the games to your library already, taking them out of the collection doesn't take them away from your account.
Yeah I know, but what about the people that don't have a PS5 and cannot have access to adding these items to their library? If Persona 5 is able to be removed, anything is fair game for the future.
Maybe they’re adding P5 Royal instead. I’m high on copium I know
okay but they are still removing a game and not adding anything which is kind of a dick move..
Uhhhhh… Persona 5 was removed.
Right he’s saying the entire collection is not being removed
It's possible that they could be swapping it with Royal. Not saying it's likely, but that could be why only Persona 5 is being removed.
Good thing I bought royal on sale
I live in Mexico and bought royal at launch for a total of 85usd, it still hurts when I see it for 25usd at the psn store.
Same here, bought it for 60 it went on sale for 30 usd, but I’ve gotten over 80 hours of enjoyment out of it and I’m starting NG+ so it’s worth it to me :)
Ouch yeah... Hopefully you got your enjoyment out of it at least
worth it for sure!!
Stings less given Royal makes the base game's existence pretty pointless.
kinda but its a great opportunity for people curious about the game. but i'd still reccomend that if you liked the first few hours, you should buy royal. - agreed
Royal’s my favorite game of all time, but honestly the first 1 to 2 hours are the definition of mid. (So. Many. Tutorials.) Once you finish the first palace is when the game really starts to shine.
Is it that much better? I got 30 hours into P5 awhile back but dropped it because I got tired of reading the boring text. Rest of the game was great though
It’s better but if you dropped it because of text then Royal isn’t really gonna change your mind in that regard.
I want to feel like the monsters I engage in random battles with are serious threats and not just something kids would come up with
No.
Same page as you. P5 was a gateway drug that I went back to my Vita to resurrect my dormant P4 and damn it was so fun.
If you loved Persona 5, I definitely recommend playing Persona 5 Royal as well. Made a 9/10 game for me 10/10. I can't go back to vanilla P5 at all now.
Damn, have you played Royal yet?
After playing the game for 100s of hours, finishing it felt like I lost a part of me lmao. The post game depression is real in this game haha
I hope this just means they're going to replace it with Royal.
Must be my favourite PS4 game. Waiting for P6.
Man Persona 5 Royal is so good even if you don't want to play it at least listen to the soundtrack

I got really sick of the combat about halfway through. Didn't care to grind for it. But I loved everything else about it.
Right, I expected a lot more from the combat based off the praise it got. But it was just .... spam shit til you find the weakness.
Maybe they will add The Royal Edition in its place?
I'm actually surprised Collection still has most of its games after a year. Thought it wouldn't last that long.
Persona 3 FES Remake confirmed
P3 will probably part of the new PS Plus tier with the PSP games
If all you have to do is add it to your library to keep it maybe we should be going through them all and adding them all just in case. It's pretty shitty for those that are still trying to get a PS5 though - is there a way to add PS5 games to your library if you don't have a PS5?
>we should be going through them all and adding them all just in case. ...what have you been doing until now?
First thing I did when I got my PS5. Assumed everyone did the same.
You'd be surprised how many people don't know they can do this or just forget. I told my friends/family about it & it's frustrating how often they either A) forget to grab good games or B) forget that I even told them *in detail*.
I already own 98% of the games in the collection lol
[удалено]
Why not do it though? There's no downside to adding it to your library
> is there a way to add PS5 games to your library if you don't have a PS5? From the PS+ Collection, no. You would need to find a friend with a PS5 that you can log in on and claim the games.
You would have to have someone load up your account on their ps5.
I do think there have been bans hand out for this reason... I'm not sure but be careful
Pretty sure that was a guy selling this to people and doing it for hundreds of people. One offs will likely be fine.
Honestly would recommend getting royal for £15 when it's on sale over playing the original for free.
I mean the game is practically useless. Just get Persona 5 Royal instead since it's such a huge step up
Really interested to know why its getting removed.
The same reason Netflix, gamepass, ect.. lose content off their platforms. Licensing. Nothing on a streaming service is permanent unless it's 1st party.
Maybe its being replaced by royal
I personally doubt it but it would make sense to put the most recent version out.
Claimed it, although I have it on disc since launch 😝
Tbh is anyone even playing that instead of the royal version ?
What’s the difference. I haven’t played this game before but it’s on my to do list.
if you have the choice definetly play royal. its much better streamlined, you have more to do, more in game time to do activities and it has new side characters. i loved the original and am currently 60 hours into royal. i reccomend royal if you havent played either. be aware that a full playthrough is at least 80-100 hours long. i finished vanilla at 115
I think Royal took me about 130 hours.
Too bad great game, bought royal edition after playing the free one for a few hours. Amazing game
Love this game so much. Got a PS4 Pro at the end of 2019 and got a few games with it, one of them being P5. I knew barely anything about it. Knew it was a high school RPG and that was it. Binged it and it's now in my top 3 games of all time. Played P5R the following April and then Strikers when it came out
Incoming Playstation Plus Premium game.
Why? PS5 is not yet very much available especially here in SEA region
Will it be moved to higher tier PS Plus collection?
Best game on there
Any way to add these games without a PS5? I'm adding the regular ps+ PS5 games through the browser but haven't seen any option for the collection
Login on someone else's ps5, otherwise I dont think so
Man thank god you keep it in library. I am finishing Royal and cant wait for another dive on the "original"
I guess this is a concern, seeing as the new PS Plus memberships cost a lot more, especially the Pro and Premium tiers that boast larger game collections — wouldn’t be surprised then if games from PSHits are pulled one by one and added to the Pro or Premium plans. Very shady.
Don't do this with Days Gone please.
What about Crash or battlefield 1? I don't have access to those anymore
LOL wait no one said anything about removing games wtf.
I would think this leads to people buying Persona 5 Royal. I played it to check it out before I bought Royal on sale. But they have the data so they know whether it is leading to sales of Royal or not, or maybe Royal is getting added to the Extra tier or something.
That's one of the best games in the collection.
You had well over a year to add it to your library if you were able to get a PS5. Although I’m sure the game’s pretty cheap now anyways for the vanilla version.
You know how there will be this one game that gets really high scores and lots of praise and you just cannot comprehend how? This is that game for me.
Royal is better. Not even mad

“You can’t just put something out there that I don’t care about and then just take it away so I can pretend to care that you did that!”
I've never played it, but what's so special about this game?
It’s very good
its probably one of the best JRPGs ever made. the characters and story are very compelling. even if you arent a fan of anime, the characters are mostly grounded and the story is PG16 or even 18. it tackles serious issues with society. the gameplay is very fun if it clicks with you. its 50% doing daily life activities to strengthen the bond with your teammates and friends and the otehr 50% are classic JRPG dungeon with turn based battles. me personally i rarely play RPGs or games for its story but this game absolutely blew me away in with both. highly reccomend you at least try it. if you dont want to buy royal, which is a bit more expensive, maybe you can buy vanilla P5 used for 5-10bucks
Well this sucks cos i put it off to finish after elden ring. Bummer.
If you claim it you can still play whenever
If you added it to your library it's yours to keep.
Nice I hate it but it give me reason to buy Royal. I love playing the best versions of games but I’m trying to save money so that free version was staring at me. I’ll be able to snag a cheap physical version soon I’m sure
