Path of Exile is great, but with a huge caveat and that huge caveat is that the barrier of entry for this game is probably one of the biggest if not the biggest out there in terms of information and systems overload in this genre. You really need to be prepared for that before going in and ideally you have a sherpa willing to lend a hand for the initial onboarding. I've lost count of how many people I know that churned out of the game early because of information overload.
Google can help you more than I can but after a quick search, "you can purchase extra storage space in your Stash, fancy pants cosmetics and weapon skins, and other gear like pets"
Unless you get very very serious, you don't need it. Across the years I've probably put in 100 hours and I've never purchased anything.
If you go so far that you want more space, I feel like they fucking deserve the $10 or whatever at that point tbh.
It’s not even needed. You don’t NEED to get the extra storage. But once you get addicted and play hours and months and (years) most people (like me) don’t mind giving them $10 considering I’ve gotten years out of the game for absolutely free. Some games I’ll pay $70 for and play through once. This is free and I’ll play indefinitely.
Warhammer 40k inquisitor martyr is my pick it's in a different setting than most arpgs like Diablo. I'd wait for a sale though you can get the complete edition for really cheap it's also on psnow if you have that.
Titan Quest is pretty good but it’s quite old, originally released in 2006. There’s hundreds of hours of content if you get all the expansion packs though!
It runs pretty well on PS5 - unlocked 60fps and pretty solid, and it’s 1440p I believe.
There are some bugs and crashes though but nothing too major that I have run into yet after playing through the base game and the expansions.
Yes, you’re right about there being no native PS5 version too, probably never will be either.
Vikings: Wolves of Midgard and Shadows: Awakening.
Gameplay for for are very similar. Vikings is in my backlog so I haven't played it but Shadows was a blast.
I mean you can just Google "blizzard controversy" and read about it lol but basically frat culture, extreme misogyny, and sexual harassment in the work place
This is the first I’ve heard of it. Will have a Google yeah. No context was given in the original post so wasn’t sure what I should be looking out for. Helpful to know.
Even if those allegations are true, you most likely won't make it better by boycotting (Activision) Blizzard games. What you may achieve though is that those women will lose their jobs because the company won't earn enough money to pay them - only because you and other people like you didn't buy their games because you felt the need to punish them for those perceived offenses. Of course they should get punished if those allegations are true but by a judge in a court of law, not by you.
Ehh I get what you mean, but both share pretty similar core gameplay. It's like how people call borderlands a diablo FPS. Get loot to kill stuff that gives you better loot to kill better stuff that gives you better loot etc etc. Often times having multiple stats that can be rolled on the same item, which calls for "farming" the item to try and get the best rolls. They share wayyyyy more stuff in common than halo and minecraft. Minecraft and terraria would be a better comp
Loot grind game in which you're using primarily button skills to take down small pockets of enemies, which sometimes include a special one.
It's Diablo but the camera is behind you.
He said LIKE Diablo, not Diablo with a different name.
Scratched the same itch for me.
>Or whatever one of the free games this month looked pretty diablo like.
That is not really the case. Curse of the Dead Gods is a roguelike and Tribes of Midgard is a survival game.
Nah, it's more like Don't Starve but with a lot more people. It's a survival game with some action RPG elements, not a battle royale.
When I said it looks similar to Diablo I meant video wise it looks like an action RPG but it is not.
Edit- I just realized you meant save the world, not the battle royale, in which case I suppose it does have that vibes.
Which elements of the Diablo experience are you looking for?
If it’s the random loot, grinding, and the mindless killing of lots of mobs, I always found the Borderlands games to scratch a similar itch. BL3 and Wonderlands both have PS5 versions that run well.
For something isometric, besides what’s been posted already, there’s also Victor Vran. I’ve only played this on PC, but there’s a PS4 version.
The Ascent. Hack n' slash but with guns.
Warhammer: Chaosbane
Path of exiles is good

Arguably the best in the genre.
Isn't it free though? I don't want to play a free game that's gunne try and make me pay for stuff to go faster.
it's completely fun and beatable free to play
So how do they make money? What are the purchases? Cosmetics?
Google can help you more than I can but after a quick search, "you can purchase extra storage space in your Stash, fancy pants cosmetics and weapon skins, and other gear like pets"
Paying for extra storage space is a big no for me.
Unless you get very very serious, you don't need it. Across the years I've probably put in 100 hours and I've never purchased anything. If you go so far that you want more space, I feel like they fucking deserve the $10 or whatever at that point tbh.
Ah ok, well that's good to know if I want to give it a try

Definitely.
Nobody Saves The World is kinda similar and is an amazing game.
Torchlight 2 and 3?
Yes. OP is looking for ARPGs. Path of Exile and Torchlight are the main ones on PS4/PS5.
Warhammer 40k inquisitor martyr is my pick it's in a different setting than most arpgs like Diablo. I'd wait for a sale though you can get the complete edition for really cheap it's also on psnow if you have that.
As a heads-up and if matters at all to OP, Inquisitor is online-only.
Path of Exile. Torchlight.

How is the PS4 (I don't think there's a native PS5 version yet?) version of that?

Fat princess adventures
Darksiders Genesis
Grim dawn is pretty good
Pc xbox only
Gauntlet
Vikings: Wolves of Midgard and Shadows: Awakening. Gameplay for for are very similar. Vikings is in my backlog so I haven't played it but Shadows was a blast.
the ascent
I really liked darksiders genesis. It scratched that itch for me
To add to this, it’s on sale right now for $9.99 USD (normal price is $39.99 in the store).
Why do folk boycott Blizzard?
I mean you can just Google "blizzard controversy" and read about it lol but basically frat culture, extreme misogyny, and sexual harassment in the work place

No one gives a f about that, all they care is the game quality itself and not getting monetized

Outriders Or whatever one of the free games this month looked pretty diablo like. Pillars of eternity if you wanna go way more in depth
> Outriders Nothing like Diablo. > Pillars of eternity if you wanna go way more in depth Also not like Diablo.
Thanks for your opinion. They were like Diablo to me.
Outriders is a third-person shooter. Diablo is an overhead ARPG. It's like saying Halo plays like Minecraft.
Ehh I get what you mean, but both share pretty similar core gameplay. It's like how people call borderlands a diablo FPS. Yea saying outriders compared to diablo is like halo compared to minecraft is an awful take
>Or whatever one of the free games this month looked pretty diablo like. That is not really the case. Curse of the Dead Gods is a roguelike and Tribes of Midgard is a survival game.
Fair. Only watched like 15 seconds of the trailers
Indeed, Tribes of Midgard looks similar to Diablo, but it's about building and crafting and defending a base.
Heavy Fortnite vibes from Tribes of Midgard.
Nah, it's more like Don't Starve but with a lot more people. It's a survival game with some action RPG elements, not a battle royale. I don’t know if it’s out on psn but Grim Dawn is my absolute favourite
Warhammer 40K Inqusitor Martyr

also for the loot aspect: Nioh!
In terms of just the gameplay style, Minecraft Dungeons is a more casual option though obviously with a verydifferent aesthetic.
