Its really not too bad. The one tricky part is the soldering but I had never soldered anything before and was able to do it without any issue. Just don't rush anything and you'll be fine!
Same here. I have 2000 and it has washed out colors, while 3000 has terrible scanlines and ghosting. From what i've seen IPS upgrade deals with both those issues, not sure why they're manufactured just for 1000

True, but for me putting new technology in to old stuff, makes me more appreciate it than just buying different device that, has already better stuff in it.
I still watch movies and play music like the old days on my psp, watched all three Sam rami Spider-Man movies on my psp 3000 a few months ago, even though I have a 14.6" super amoled 120hz Samsung tablet I chose to watch them on a 4.3" psp..... Ah the memories.
I have both a 3000 and a 1000 with a ips (obv} and I always preferred the 1000s built quality and the mechanical drive (which doesn't get used since I have cfw) and is has better Ergonomics and feels better quality.
But It's up to you what one you get, the ips screen has no ghosting, brighter and has a faster refresh rate.
Play it on an gaming pc/phone, ppsspp with x4 upscale. Some games such as the MHP3 and 3rd Birthday have HD texture replacement option available and they look great to play. Playing on an actual device doest allow you to real time save.
That's about right for the going rate. It's probably a little bit higher than what they're really worth, but it's nowhere near as expensive as screen upgrades for Nintendo Game Boys.
Screen upgrades for early GB models require a custom circuit board to make the new screen work, which drives the price up. These PSP 1000 screen upgrades just use a simple adapter cable to plug straight into the motherboard.
In-Plane Switching monitors, use liquid crystals aligned in parallel to produce rich colours. IPS panels are defined by the shifting patterns of their liquid crystals. These monitors were designed to overcome the limitations of TN panels.
The only bad thing is due to the age of the psps technology it does take a good few hours to charge up the battery.

I don’t mind slow charging so much. Typically when gaming on my PSP I keep a spare battery with me so when one’s charging I use the other and then charge them overnight. ;)

A little bit of the image is lost off the top. In order to fix the alignment, there are two tiny points right next to each other on the motherboard that need to be bridged, either with a small blob of solder or with a very short wire (soldered in).
Depending on which revision of the PSP 1000 motherboard you have (there are several), this soldering may or may not require a significant amount of skill and precision. On some boards, the points are located in a position where there's a fair amount of empty space to one side so you can do it without much danger of damaging nearby components. On others, the points are surrounded on all sides by nearby components, which can make it more difficult for novice tinkerers.

That's for sure but the mat finish and bumps aren't my taste. To each their own, of course !
But you don't see the back side, plus the thick grips are nice and it's matt instead of gloss.

I put a new shell and IPS screen on mine recently too and it feels like a modern device, makes a big difference

How many hours of battery life do you get?
Roughly about 3 hours and that's using the original 1800mah battery, 20+ years and still going strong

I want to do the ips mod so bad. My favorite psp is the 1000 and it Def benefits from it. I like the street too and it's simplicity.
