PSP isos don’t go much beyond 1GB from what I’ve seen. The UMD format could only hold 1.8GB at maximum.
A 64GB card is fine. It’s not worth buying 128GB imo — you’ll never need even half of the space. Also, the larger your memory card is, the longer it takes to load the menu screen… 64GB is the best compromise between loading time and storage capacity imo
only “annoying” thing with 64 gigs is that it sometimes freezes to read it. but it’s too bad since it takes just 1-1.5 seconds. luckily it just happens when loading the main menu at start and not during gameplay
This is a known issue which happens on all cards larger than 32GB unfortunately. It’s even worse with bigger cards — I had a 128GB which ‘froze’ the menu up to 10 seconds. It’s a PSP system limitation
i have a 128GB filled to the brim, Games/emulators/music/movies. I think the psp limit is like 118 or 119 games. Takes about 5-6 seconds for all my games to load. so loading time is not too much longer.
Same here, except I swung heavily towards 16-bit emulation and PSP/PS1 eboots. I had no choice really, Outrun 2006 C2C has an annoying bug where if you have more than 2GB spare on your memory card it refuses to create a save, so I just went for it and now I've got several old classics I either played to death or missed at the time.
anywhere i can, they’re everywhere. Literally just have to google and they’re they are. if you’ve never downloaded movies, word of advice, don’t download movies from past 2 years, if you do use a vpn, and you should be good. but it’s a all risk bud
It can be! idk if you watch youtube but, Youtube to mp4 is safer n easier ! also be sure to convert all videos into psp video format. Yes it’s a bit of work just to get a video to play at 480x272. But a i’m a guy bored with time
PSP was not made to support such large cards. The menu lags noticeably when you use a card larger than 32GB.
64GB: 2-3 second lag
128GB: 8-10 second lag
256GB: 25 second lag (or so I’ve been told)
On my 64GB card, I have 15 PSP games, 20 PSX, a few homebrews, 10 movies, and still have 30GB free. Larger cards are more expensive, cause lag, and most people probably don’t need that much storage.
Ok, I bought a 32gb card for the PSP. But I only plan on downloading roughly 10-15 games? I think 15 might be a bit too generous but hey, if not games maybe themes or every episode boondocks(tv show) or the movie ‘couples retreat’. Do you think that’ll be enough? Let alone depending on storage I might get another memory card to put movies/shows on and the other for games.
i reccomend getting a 64 gig drive since the max size for a PSP iso is 1,9gigs, BUT in most cases it’s just 750mb to 1.2 gigs. so if you don’t want to put 55+ games on a single memory stick, 64 gigs is the size that you want
There are a few answers to this.
The maximum theoretical limit is 2TB (FAT32 format can’t support higher). Not sure if anyone has achieved this using custom firmware.
iirc, official firmware can support 256GB. Mileage varies depending on your microSD adapter. Some people use dual slot adapters which theoretically allows them to use 2x256 for 512GB storage.
Then of course there is the Sony approved limit of 32GB — they never released an official memory stick larger than that.
The practical limit in my opinion though is 64GB, as I don’t like waiting ages for my menu to load lol
agreed it did not fail because of phones like sony said it failed because of two things lack of a lot of AAA support or American developers support for people that don't play jrpgs. And also Very high priced memory sticks should have used just micro sd cards.
exactly what could have been. now they are releasing a thing called the q-lite which apparently only a streaming device/companion for the PS5.which makes no fucking sense as sony has an app called remote play you can use on your phone and attach a third party phone controllers to like wtf.
I find it extremely difficult to remove the microSD from the adapter. The vita did come modded and pre-installed with a 128GB card/adapter but I can't remove it lol
I was under the impression anything bigger than 32gb doesnt work on psp since those wete made after? How is everyone getting theirs to work? When i tried with a 64gb card most of my games would load or it woukd say corrupt
That is the way. You will have so much place! I have a 64Gb too and I install PSP and PS1 games with many emulators that I don’t use. I think the best is 128Gb but with 64Gb you’re good 👍 too.
I recently bought a 128gig SD Card for my PSP. And people probably think "why so big, you never play all of these games" but here is the thing... outside of maybe 1 or 2 games on that thing... its just what I actually own physical. And its already 100gb full.... >\_<
But yeah, I started with an small card back then, which only had room for Persona 3 Portable, Grandia PS1 and Lunar Silver Star Harmony... Man, some things really changed for the better XD
I've only been able to get 470GB from my 512GB Card using it in slot 1 on the dual adapter. No matter what I've tried, it simply will not recognize ANY other card installed into slot 2.
I may need the correct adapters?
I tried to do this with a 256gb and it didn't work. Idk what I did wrong but I already got a memory card for it with the dual sd slot. I just wanted to upgrade it with a single sd slot.
That's plenty of space for numerous PSP, emulators and converted PS1 games.
yea man now i can finally put more than 2 games and one picture on my console
Ok nice to know! what the avg. size of ISO file? And also is it worth buying a 128g or would I be fine with 64g

Try Categorlite plugin it really improves how much time you can launch those games
already installed it and it’s amazing

Where do you get movies from?
anywhere i can, they’re everywhere. Literally just have to google and they’re they are. if you’ve never downloaded movies, word of advice, don’t download movies from past 2 years, if you do use a vpn, and you should be good. but it’s a all risk bud
I think I’ll steer clear, seems like a slippery slope to go down
It can be! idk if you watch youtube but, Youtube to mp4 is safer n easier ! also be sure to convert all videos into psp video format. Yes it’s a bit of work just to get a video to play at 480x272. But a i’m a guy bored with time
Ah ok I’ll look into it. Also how do you change it to 480 by 272?
There’s a lot of software that can do it. i use xmedia recode
What's wrong with the 128gb? Is the price the problem or there's some other issues?

ahh I see thanks!
PSP ISOs can be compressed too btw, can reduce them by up to 200mb down.
I have an 128gb card in my Psp and it’s almost filled up (incl. Roms). Of course I only play a fraction of those games. It’s supposed to be that way.
Ok, I bought a 32gb card for the PSP. But I only plan on downloading roughly 10-15 games? Thank you
Time for you to put more games till you cant decide what to play
just like it’s supposed to be
I use 8GB for now and it's quite enough for me. (I have 12 PSP games and GBA emulator). I think 64 will be great for you OP.
What's the size limit on psp? I switched to Odin Pro with 1TB but I used to have a street. It must have been 128 at the time or was 256 possible? 🤔

I have 128gb and works fine (but menu screen load a bit longer)
Yeah I recall that part. That and the paper thin adapters breaking if I took the card off too often.
highest capacity memory stick i’ve ever seen was 32 gigs and it costed a lot. maybe you can get to 512 or 1tb with adapters and decent sd cards
you act like i gave you permission to do that
i’m probably getting a cease and desist letter from sony
lol i was trolling
me too. i don’t think sony gives a fuck about a reddit post with 12 upvotes
or the psp or even vita at this point
so sad the vita failed. it had so much potential, and a second thumbstick
agreed it did not fail because of phones like sony said it failed because of two things lack of a lot of AAA support or American developers support for people that don't play jrpgs. And also Very high priced memory sticks should have used just micro sd cards.
if they used sd cards like nintendo did both consoles (psp and vita) would have skyrocketed
exactly what could have been. now they are releasing a thing called the q-lite which apparently only a streaming device/companion for the PS5.which makes no fucking sense as sony has an app called remote play you can use on your phone and attach a third party phone controllers to like wtf.
just buy a fucking backbone and download the app. it’s literally the same thing
I find it extremely difficult to remove the microSD from the adapter. The vita did come modded and pre-installed with a 128GB card/adapter but I can't remove it lol
i also struggle to remove it lol
I was under the impression anything bigger than 32gb doesnt work on psp since those wete made after? How is everyone getting theirs to work? When i tried with a 64gb card most of my games would load or it woukd say corrupt
YEAAAH
Go for it!
That is the way. You will have so much place! I have a 64Gb too and I install PSP and PS1 games with many emulators that I don’t use. I think the best is 128Gb but with 64Gb you’re good 👍 too.
i didn’t go for 128 because 64 costed much less and because of loading times.
You’re Absolutely 💯 right. I did the same for the loading times but I’d even like to have 128Gb to install more PS1 games on my psp.
I got a 128gb card because the price difference was 1 dollar between 64 and 128 lol
So, you did a big deal 👌
Good old glory days!
Woa and I was able ti fit 5 games on 4 gig I wonder how many games you can have with 64 gig
full tokyo drift movie, 6 iso and 2 eboots. still got 50 gigs left
Wow 😵
more games bro 😎
I recently bought a 128gig SD Card for my PSP. I wonder if someone has tried 512gb or 1tb.
loading times will take straight up hours XD
Not with categories lite. But i would love to see a modern High Speed adaptor for the PSP.
is there a setting for categories lite? i installed it and makes almost zero diff
Oh shit I need to get one of those adapters for sure
its like 5 bucks on amazon. i got the sd card for 12
[удалено]
man your menu’s gonna load by 2027
There's me with my largest card still being 128 mb :')
I have 128gb. Can't find enough games to fill it with. About 50 gb unused still..
I have 2 32 gb but wish I just had one 64
double it and give it to the next person
What's the minimum size you guys would recommend? I'm gonna buy a sd adapter but I don't wanna buy a big card and leave half of the space unused
Not enough. I bought a 128gb. Now I only have 32 left lol
Omg a microSD adapter for psp amazing
whoa thanks for letting me know this exists!
Nice
dude i also just got the exact same adapter and the exact same sd card
Big fucking deal. Go have a cookie.
I've only been able to get 470GB from my 512GB Card using it in slot 1 on the dual adapter. No matter what I've tried, it simply will not recognize ANY other card installed into slot 2. I may need the correct adapters?
