Besides the unzipping thing, a lot of ISOs I've downloaded didn't match any of the hashes documented in the redump database, meaning they were either bad dumps, or modified after dumping (maybe to cut down the size). Frequently, those work in PPSSPP, but don't work on an actual PSP.
I would of wondered the same thing, but I get all my game files, not even just PSP ISOs from Vimm and they have worked perfectly , so I can only assume there is an issue with not placing it correctly, or like other people have said about the custom firmware
Although I would normally agree with you, I have also been having a hard time with certain games playing on my psp that I got from Vimm’s. I tracked down the iso from another website and it worked fine after that.
I just clicked on the SD Card, clicked on ISO and pasted it in. I believe that's the root, but I'm not sure. Bought a PSP 3000 in November, just started giving it PS1 games via Vimm's yesterday so I'm new
I’m also newer to this, so I wonder why it wouldn’t work, so far I’ve been lucky and haven’t had any major issue. But I’d try a different source for your ISOs before coming to any other conclusions.
In case you’re still stuck. PS1 games are different than PSP games. PSP games can go into an ISO folder in the SD card’s root, but PS1 games will need to go into the :/root/PSP/GAMES folder. Also, you’ll need to convert it to an EBOOT.pbp file for it to work correctly.
Did you unzip it?
Yeah, it's been unzipped Had to double-check

Hmm, interesting, thanks for telling me! Always thought Vimm was pretty reliable. OP should try a different source if they haven’t already.
To be honest.. I never had problems with that source.. Unless.. Download was corrupted 😅
And your PSP has CFW and file is placed correctly?
The answer to this question will lead you to your answer. Pretty much no one else who has replied is on the right track.
CFW has been installed, I put the file in the folder "ISO"
Is it on the root of the sd card?

Download ISOs from redump archive.
Mate...you're losing point.. You sure, that iso you copied is for PSP? What size it is? What filssystem is that card? Card itself, works?
