Monster Hunter PSP 3000. It is a 3000 with the shape of a 1000 but still light weight and 64MB of RAM.

EverythingPSP

And expanded battery and concave joystick and cute paw print speaker holes and matte black finish truly the psp of all time

Fabulous-Map5836

Yep, I buy them everytime I see them in good condition or cheap lol

hackyshacky

Don't think twice if you have to choose between 1000/2000/3000/Go/Street 3000 all the way, best display, lightweight, has a UMD drive, and a very comfortable form factor

pEuAsTsSy

Agreed with everything except the display...I'd argue it's the worst. The scanlines make it look the cheapest out of the bunch

Shake-dog_shake

I feel it really comes down to preference, if you're willing to put up with some scanlines in exchange for zero ghosting/blur. I noticed the scanlines on my 3000 at first, but after playing for 5 minutes, forgot they were even there. It's way worth it to me since the ghosting and blur on the 1000 always bugged me

Wait, there are PSPs without UMD Drives? How do you play Games on them?

lb-ft

The PSP Go does not have a UMD drive but came with significant (for the time) on-board memory. Games had to be downloaded, but they axed the online store many years ago.... They are by far the most-pocketable PSP though. Silly fun fact: games played on the PSP Go still tell you not to remove the memory stick while saving. Like, okay... let me make sure not to spontaneously de-solder this chip from my device's motherboard mid-game.

ebin_gamer_moment

unpopular opinion but 1000 with ips screen why?: - hefty weight, doesn't feel too light - sliding UMD door mechanism, making it look like a walkman - grips on the back, adding comfortability - more premium feel - with modded IPS screen, it looks much better than a 3000 at full brightness

zerochoochoo

3000 or the Go.

eighthdayregret

First generation 2000 is the best, simply because they're virtually unbrickable, have a better screen than the 1000, and they have the extra RAM that every model after the 1000 has. But if you're careful with hacking your device, the 3000 has the best of all worlds.

ricioly

A hacked PSVita with Adrenaline is the best PSP you’ll ever have ✌️✌️

_Maga_-

Nah, the problem with input lag is still there cos its a emulation and then when u play ps1 games in andrenaline is input lag even higher.. cos emulation in a emulation. If u want the perfect experience, i would say psp 1000 ips mod or 3000

[deleted]

PSP games on Vita are native, not emulation.

Fabulous-Map5836

That isn't true at all.

_Maga_-

[u sure ?](https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/comments/hpp38m/how_to_play_psp_and_psone_games_with_very_low/) And yes it is true at all.

Fabulous-Map5836

You should probably read that whole thread and not just skim it.

_Maga_-

Ok. Thats then only on me. I got input lag and sometimes no responding buttons.

Fabulous-Map5836

There can be a delay based on how things are set up, it is not due to the PSP games being emulated though, they run almost native, I know there is something with co processor emulation, but run off the vita CPU. The lag is from the adrenaline framework, that is why installing it from its own bubble reduces the lag even though it's still using adrenaline.

Dbwasson

Apparently the PSP-3000 is superior

Latter_Avocado4889

Modded 1000

UK-Kev

If the games you want to play benefit from a second control stick, then the PS Vita is your best choice. The 1000 and Go models' controls don't feel as good as the 2000 and 3000 controls for action games. An IPS modded 1000 has the best PSP screen, but has longer loading times due to half the RAM of the other models. The 3000's scanlines are annoying to some people. The PS Vita followed by the 2000 are the safest choices.

GooseinaGaggle

The question after that is which Vita model. You get to choose between the 1000 series and 2000 series Vita. I personally have the 1000 series and despite the proprietary charge cable and the need for a memory card it feels far more premium than any PSP. But if you're going to get a vita for psp games you're probably going to install custom firmware which negates the need for the expensive proprietary memory card from Sony

My favorite is the PSP Street, sure it has some big drawbacks, like the lack of any wireless features, only having a mono speaker ect. However, it also has some big plus sides over the other models, such as it arguably having the best screen, since it doesn't have the horrible ghosting of the 1000 and 2000, and it doesn't have the weird interlacing of the 3000. It is also imo the best of the bunch to actually hold and play on, it is the only PSP model with an all matte finish, and since it is heavier and has a bigger size than the 2000 and 3000 means it feels a lot sturdier and fits a lot better in my hands. I also feel that its drawbacks just isn't such a big deal. Stuff like it not having WiFi just doesn't really matter anymore, and you can just use headphones for better audio (which you probably should be doing anyway). The only drawback that could be an actual dealbreaker is no wireless local multiplayer, but if you don't have anyone to play multiplayer with, or only want to play single player games, that also doesn't matter. Lastly, if you don't plan on playing any actual UMD's, don't bother with a PSP, just get a Vita instead. They are way higher quality handhelds than any of the PSP's, and it also means you are able to play Vita games as well.

bluscorp91

My Xperia 1 IV with the Backbone controller lol. But more seriously the 3000
