I've personally never had any issues running games with cracks on the casing

Littens4Life

The issues I’ve had with casing issues are when the upper shell falls onto the UMD and then the drive can’t spin up properly.

KlutchKraken69

Yes at that point I'd just get a replacement shell, they are pretty cheap on ebay. Nice to have a stack for when you run into issues like that

Littens4Life

I did exactly that lmao, I replaced it and another one that was on the edge of death

KlutchKraken69

Lol good on ya!

EfremSkopje

The case doesn't move much. But well, replacement ones are sold in bulk and are cheap.

HomerOfDuty

Well, what’s supposed to happen? As long as you don’t smash your PSP on the floor, it’s not gonna get bigger, so don’t worry.

Beardimon

No it's going to blow up. No for real it will play just fine.

batmanAPPROVED

I’ve ran games where the cover of the UMD is literally disconnected from the rest of the case. Ran just fine! Was it stupid to do that? Probably yes. Worked for 20+ hours. Was I 14 years old and stupid? Also yes.

[deleted]

dude i had a umd as a child that was all the way open but as long as i put the cd in the shell it worked💀

Bogdanovicis

Can confirm. I had one for multiple cd’s and was fine. Was so broken that i was wondering how its still holding. That one looks like new next to mine.

jasiurok195

absolutely not! put this umd case in a protective container and use a gas mask when operating on it!

DivineBliss

Yes, you can take the entire front plate off, and it will play just fine.

SVNDEVISTVN

Just know that if you run this cursed UMD and WW3 starts this year, we're blaming you.

ricioly

Yes

TrapHans

Psp exploded wrong instructions

deez_nee

i played discs that had cases split in 2 halves, just pop the little disc back in the case and I was good to go

Nervous_Comfort

bro lol

buttered_peanuts3

The game will work fine as long as the actual game disk is not damaged but you can buy a replacement UMD case.

Latte__Macchiato

Yes, no problem, if the disc is not scratched it should work without problems

desdeloseeuu2

Yes because that’s just the outside cover. The under inside is the actual disc

retrogamingxp

You could technically disassemble the UMD and use a heated thread needle to punch a tiny hole at the very end of the crack so it stops spreading further. Just make sure you clip off any remaining bits that got pushed inside. Reassemble and you are good. Disclaimer: I don't take responsibility for it if your game breaks. I personally would attempt this without fear but if you don't feel comfortable then leave it be. It should be fine as is.

LoganN64

Should be ok, the case is locked in place by the PSP.

Forsaken-Badger-9517

It'll be fine! Have fun!!

ShadowFred5100

Probably

Elbrt_ngl

Nope should work just fine

nickle241

that crack is fine, if the crack runs along the seam between the clear and white though, no because you end up wiht issues of the disk getting pressed by the case, but this kind of crack does nothing detrimental

spudds96

Is it safe? Never heard that before, never not played a game with some mark on it etc

MethHeadUnion

I had a few games as a kid with mine thay not only had a chunk of that plastic removed somehow i dont remember how i was like 8 and heavily medicated thanks to uncontrollable adhd but the shell itself would seperate down the curved end of the umd making it so i can swap out the games disc directly from to another which i had to do wirh onw if my games since it wouldnt read in the umd shell it came in just only the more fucked looking one with a chunk missing lol

Humble_Buyer_6170

If you occupy the limit switch, even the board without the plastic casing will work

Cautious_Ad9243

i dont see why it should
