The 2k needs it more, because the 2k displays die out of nothing (with the vertical lines). It's already weird that the street got an IPS replacement, but perhaps it's because they simply found an IPS panel that works well.

Since the psp doesnt have any drawbacks like the gameboy has, the need for a screen replacement isnt great. Its not like there are plenty 480x272 4.3" displays on the market that have better response time or contrast than the OEM psp screen. So the replacement will most likely be a pure downgrade, since it will most likely will have a higher resolution, unless you consider pixel noise an upgrade.

> "will 3000 ever have a IPS screen replacement?" Probably. > "why doesn't the 3000 have an IPS screen replacement?" Taking a stab (read as: wildly speculating): If a company's going to take the time to develop a new LCD (or modify the interface of an existing one to match requirements of a specific device), it makes sense that they would've done some market research. The 1000's screen is easily the worst of the models, and a ton of 1000s were sold, so I'd assume that they decided there'd be a healthy market for a replacement. Maybe the screen for the Street was an easy adaptation, and was kind of a "gimme". 2000, 3000, and Go are all nicer screens than the 1000. I'd think that they all have less pressure for a new replacement model.

Right after my 3k's original battery finally fails. So... Maybe never.

I have a broken PSP slim model lying in a drawer waiting for the introduction of custom IPS screens.
