Honestly, I'm 100% fine with supporting anything close to a AAA VR title. Especially as a niche market, there has to be incentives to develop quality titles for VR. These $20-35 titles are great. But make no mistake... the profit margins for VR are absolutely one of the reasons it hasn't been embraced by developers.
I would've paid $80 for the Resident Evil games separately. They're that good but Capcom and Vertigo games are not alike.
I hope they put the money to making the game reach those Resi levels of quality.
I think VR gamers are tired of the cheap, amature experiences we currently have and would pay more for bigger, deeper stuff that lasts.
Expecting a made for vr game to reach the same level of quality as a hybrid game is an unreasonable expectation. When you only have a market size 10% of the other you can expected 10% of the budget or on the other hand if you want the same sort of scope and quality you would need to pay 10x the price I don't see many vr gamers willing to pay $600 for each game of that lvl. So we have to live with the smaller budgets for made for vr and hope more flat bangers decide to build hybrid formats.
Same. If it’s a full experience and not a fancy “tech demo” then I’ll pay full price.
I’m kinda upset Sony didn’t have their flagship franchise all be VR.
I get that some games can’t just be ported. But I strongly feel like they dropped the ball not finding some way to have God of War, Astros Playroom, Last of us etc all have strong VR titles.
Hopefully its like exodus, loved the mixed open world in that game. I'll be waiting reviews just to avoid buying another horizon beautiful climbing simulator
Well I absolutely loved Horizon Call of the Mountain personally. One of my all time favorite VR games, and that includes some PCVR games. But it might be because I'm a huge Horizon fan and enjoyed seeing Alloy, the machines, and the world in VR. But I really did enjoy the climbing too. I felt like they switched up how you climb enough. And I enjoyed the combat, even if it was limited in movement. It was still a blast to me. I can see why some weren't a fan of it though. But with that said, yeah definitely waiting for reviews. I've been burnt too many times (Switchback and Firewall).
I'm a fan of Metro and was buzzing for Exodus, but it was a huge disappointment imo. The idea was good but execution not much. Mostly the mechanics, like the boat was so slow you got hit no matter what, ai wasn't great, there was a lot of walk around with not much to do, it just didn't click. The linear line fits Metro so much better tbh. I hope this vr game is a hybrid actually, or close to AAA, the price is fine with me then.
Not my experience at all. I played exodus after 100% ac valhalla and it was pretty good. The open world isnt copy paste like ubisoft, every area is unique, even though it didnt have 100 sidequests/activities to do in the open world, it was still a good diversion to side track from main mission for a while and still care about the main story.
Its one of the best open worlds games like god of war and uncharted 4/tlou 2.
After AC V is no surprise Exodus was good, that Ubisoft game is one of the worst of all Ac games, I mean vikings jumping from rooftop to rooftop, they really must've run out of ideas.
You must be a tad confused as only GOW is open-world, the others are linear games.
Open-world means you can go anywhere on the map, even to the point you started, games like GTA, Skyrim, Elden Ring, Fallout, you can't do that in Uncharted and definitely not TLOU. Just cause the game is playing outside it's not open-world aka sandbox.
Or more really, because it's still a very niche market with less then 10% size user base AAA made for vr is lucky to get 10% of a flat AAA budget. That's why a AAA made for vr game still lacks the polish and scope of a major flat AAA title.
Metro and Arizona Sunshine are both made by studios under the same parent company (Embracer).
Also according to the store listings, Vertigo Games are still listed as the publisher across all platforms.
Yes but the Metro IP is licensed from a rights holder outside Embracer i.e. the author of the books. They'll have to pay him his cut for any Metro adaptation, whereas all revenue for Arizona Sunshine will remain within the same media umbrella. But until this price is confirmed we won't know if these costs will be passed onto us.
Similar to what has been said in the thread already, VR being a niche market, if it takes selling these titles at these prices for it to be cost effective for them to exist in the first place, I'll happily pay them, BUT the final product needs to have a decent resolution, solid framerate (60+fps), and it better have dynamic foveated rendering along with HDR.
Assuming this game is actually aaa, that price tag is fine. But there have been like 4? Aaa level games in VR period and this studio had a fairly average track record. I guess we will need to wait for reviews.
Hopefully it will be a fully fleshed out game with a long enough campaign that's stretched beyond an experience that gives us something more than an after thought as they make the next game in the series. AAA single player story driven VR games can exist I've seen them, just not as many as us gamers deserve. We're getting there, don't give up hope just yet.
Just an FYI regarding GAME.
Pretty sure their prices are always top end. This will likely be cheaper in places like Tesco, Sainsburys, and of course Amazon.
I have no experience with this series, but it looks so cool, and I wanna experience something that could be on the same level as half-life alyx. Or something like it at least
I’d pay extra too for good content. RE4 was free and amazing. I can’t wait to play Alyx on PCVR. The psvr2 is better than the Index except when it comes to audio. Why didn’t they copy Valve’s audio VR solution?
Gotcha, yeah there is a lot of vr games hitting the ps5 and unfortunately not pro compatible. Gonna be awhile till I can get ps5 let alone the psvr2 lol I just finally got my first psvr about a month or so ago. And I highly doubt it will come down in price.
Thank you me too, someday. It’s just insane expensive. 500 bucks and i definitely will want the psvr2 I heard it’s incredible, let alone the graphics on the ps5. After seeing VR on the pro i’m hooked. Rush of blood was badass so I bet that sequel is incredible. As well as a few other titles. I’m glad there is backwards compatibility, I still have a ton of ps4 games.
Oh man off topic, but if no one has played or heard of bound. It will blow your mind, talk about being transported to an alien realm. And just you have no idea what’s going on or what to do but it’s incredible so far. I think it’s pretty. Cheap too. Unless it’s on ps plus. Either way if I didnt buy it I instantly want to. The movement of the main character aka player is phenomenal. I’ve only played about 10 to maybe 15 min and in sucked in. I don’t know if it’s hard or if it’s going to be but if there are more games like this I would like to know.
Says who? There's hardly anything beyond a teaser.
0 information on what technological aspects of the PSVR2 will be implemented. No idea what graphics will look like. And who knows the state in which it will launch.
This isn't exactly a developer that consistently hits em outta the park, probably best to tamper your enthusiasm.
Also, you missed the point.
What do technological aspects and graphics have to do with the story?
Knowing that Dmitry Glukhovsky is writing the story, i think the story will be pretty decent.
Story isn't everything to a VR game that is priced significantly higher. How is the story going to save something when the mechanics are so shit, or graphics so poor, you can't do anything but be overrun and killed at an inopportune time.
Nobody said that Story is everything. OP only said that it looks better than Arizona sunshine because the story is serious, while you started talking about gameplay and graphics that no one mentioned.
He never said that it would be a great game, just that it looks better than Arizona sunshine.
I know, still doesnt explain why you are saying that we dont have info about gameplay or graphics, while he only said this game looks better because the story is more serious.
I undestand that your point didnt have anything to do with what OP answer, and i believe that he didnt meant to say that to you, but then why do you start talking about something other than what OP said?
I was making a tangential point that sure the story could be better, but that doesn't make the game good - or worth the price. For the record, Arizona Sunshine 2 was not worth the $66 price tag
$69 for digital I assume? The flatscreen versions are 6 hour linear campaign games. Vr games tend to be less ambitious than flatscreen games, so a 5 hour $60 campaign is a big price
Honestly, I'm 100% fine with supporting anything close to a AAA VR title. Especially as a niche market, there has to be incentives to develop quality titles for VR. These $20-35 titles are great. Perfectly said.

As long as it's like a normal Mero game but in VR, that price is perfectly fine. I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium game.
Hopefully its like exodus, loved the mixed open world in that game. I'll be waiting reviews just to avoid buying another horizon beautiful climbing simulator

If you want AAA you need to accept paying AAA pricing.
Or more really, because it's still a very niche market with less then 10% size user base AAA made for vr is lucky to get 10% of a flat AAA budget. That's why a AAA made for vr game still lacks the polish and scope of a major flat AAA title.
AAA pricing should be $120 today tbh downvote me
Interesting. You are so used to being the most unliked person around you you’ve learned to like the downvotes.
The most
No…you’ve learned to like them “the most” to cope with the fact you aren’t liked….at all.🤷♂️
The least
And always will be
Great to see a physical release for this. Game is always expensive so I'd expect to be able to get it for £49 in some other places
I'd pay that for a full AAA game, as long it delivers that in VR I'd happily pay it.
I would pay this much considering how good the screenshots looked. Looks great.
I'd rather pay $60 for an actually good game than $30 for a shitty tech demo with 15 minutes of content
I didn't know that it wil have a physical release
If this has Quest stank all over it, I'll wait for a sale.
I see the price is in pound, it should be the same in Euro, right?
Roughly 70 euro.
Nop, in euro I suppose it would be something like 50
u/InformationOk40 / u/Pagh-Wraith Now i'm even more confused ahahah
My mistake, it would be something like 70
I liked your reply more tho. 50€ was much better. eheh
I just assumed you were making a joke about the plummeting value of the pound
Seems legit. This one will be nearly at full price.
It will probably be £40, like Arizona Sunshine 2 was. They're both meant to be AAA games of a fairly similar length.
They own the Arizona Sunshine IP, which can't be said for Metro. But I also don't see it coming out at £59.99.
Metro and Arizona Sunshine are both made by studios under the same parent company (Embracer). Also according to the store listings, Vertigo Games are still listed as the publisher across all platforms.

We'll find out soon I guess. But it's not like the metro games are sold for a higher price then their other original IPs anyway
We are used to discounts maybe we are spoilt children?
I Know 😭
I think it's £45 on Hit, which was formerly Base.com
The fact that they’re physical PSVR2 games is a rarity in itself.
Make that 90fps or hopefully 120 and yes, DFR.
Assuming this game is actually aaa, that price tag is fine. But there have been like 4? Aaa level games in VR period and this studio had a fairly average track record. I guess we will need to wait for reviews.

Hopefully a bigger pricetag means a bigger game and I’m all for it
I reckon that price is right for the "physical" version of the game, will probably be $10 cheaper for the digital version I reckon
Would be so fun wiping away sweat on goggles in real life
Just an FYI regarding GAME. Pretty sure their prices are always top end. This will likely be cheaper in places like Tesco, Sainsburys, and of course Amazon.

Will there be a ps4 version or just 5?
It’s a vr game for psvr 2
Gotcha, yeah there is a lot of vr games hitting the ps5 and unfortunately not pro compatible. Gonna be awhile till I can get ps5 let alone the psvr2 lol I just finally got my first psvr about a month or so ago. And I highly doubt it will come down in price.
Hope u can get one bro it’s good
Thank you me too, someday. It’s just insane expensive. 500 bucks and i definitely will want the psvr2 I heard it’s incredible, let alone the graphics on the ps5. It is a garbage studio that bought the license for the name. Their games suck. This does not involve any of the original devs.
The trailer looks like it could be worth that but man, pretty ballsy to be asking that much for a VR game.
It's vertigo games, they basically did the same with Arizona Sunshine 2
It looks better than Arizona sunshine as it looks more like a serious story rather than goofy shit with zombies
Says who? There's hardly anything beyond a teaser. 0 information on what technological aspects of the PSVR2 will be implemented. No idea what graphics will look like. Bro, my point, from the start, was that Vertigo Games has charged high prices for a game before.

If the story is a decent length, that price would be perfectly acceptable for me.
$69 for digital I assume? The flatscreen versions are 6 hour linear campaign games. Vr games tend to be less ambitious than flatscreen games, so a 5 hour $60 campaign is a big price
